Channel 4 refugee comedy Home won’t balance opinion in the slightest

Brand new comedy Home is set to premiere on Channel 4 on Tuesday night and it won’t be doing anything to balance opinion.

The six-part series, written by Rufus Jones, sees asylum-seeker Sami from Syria arrive in Britain to live with a family in Dorking, Surrey.

Over the next few months, while Sami waits for his application to be processed, he learns more than he expected about the people he’s living with, himself, and his own family somewhere in Europe.

Rufus revealed that he came up with the idea for the show during ‘the height of the refugee crisis’ and says it’s not completely impartial, telling Digital Spy: ‘The thing about comedy, and drama, is that it’s a see-saw, and see-saws are fun because they go up and down, but see-saws aren’t fun when they’re perfectly balanced, because you just sit there doing fuck all.

Rufus Jones’ comedy series Home starts on Tuesday night (Picture: Channel 4)

‘We never got any pressure anywhere along the way to balance opinion or balance political positions.’

He continued: ‘I think the moment you start to do that, audiences sniff it a mile off. I think it’s better to just propel your voice through a show, rather than try to overly represent.’

At first, Rufus’ character Peter is hesitant about Sami (Youssef Kerkour) – not because of their differences, but because of their similarities.

‘The world is smaller now – in the 1980s, Crocodile Dundee was wandering through the streets of New York and finding bidets hilarious and foreign,’ Rufus added to the publication.

‘You can’t really play those games anymore, because the world is smaller – our stuff is their stuff, and vice versa. We all know about each other now, and so I wasn’t too interested in having Sami as a ‘foreigner in a foreign land.’

Home kicks off on Tuesday 5 March at 9.45pm on Channel 4.

Kylie Jenner becomes youngest self-made billionaire ever

Kylie Jenner is going through a rough patch in her personal life, after accusing her beau Travis Scott of cheating.

However, that hasn’t stopped her from smashing it in the business world.

Forbes has just announced that the 21-year-old has officially become the youngest ever self made billionaire – and we can’t help but feel proud.

After watching the star grow up on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it’s clear to see she has come one heck of a way since squabbling with her big sis Kendall.

But, when setting her mind to it, the mother-of-one managed to launch her own beauty line Kylie Cosmetics, to which the publication values at around $900million (£686million).

She launched Kylie Cosmetics back in 2016 with her first ever lip kit (Picture: kyliecosmetics)

Chatting about her success, the star said: ‘I didn’t expect anything. I did not foresee the future. But [the recognition] feels really good. That’s a nice pat on the back.’

Kylie has used the world of social media in order to promote her brand to her 175million Instagram followers – without this, she doubts she would have been able to reach so many people.

‘It’s the power of social media,’ the beauty mogul said: ‘I had such a strong reach before I was able to start anything.’

The young mum who launched her line back in 2016, landed on the cover of Forbes just last summer when they predicted her success.

In just two years since first putting out a $29 (£22) lip kit – a lipstick and lip liner – the youngest of the Kar-Jenner clan has gone on to sell more than $630 million (£475 million) worth of make up.

She puts her success down to social media (Picture: FilmMagic)

And impressively, Kylie, who gave birth to her daughter Stormi in February, owns 100% of her company.

Kylie Cosmetics was created with $250,000 (£188,000) of Kylie’s own money she had earned from modelling, which saw the star first produce 15,000 lip kits.

Confirming the release date the day before it went on sale, fans were quick to snap up her product, meaning the kits sold out in less than a minute.

Two years on, Kylie now sell a whole range of other cosmetics from blushers and highlighters to eyeshadow pallettes, lip glosses and brush kits.

The star has been criticised over being given the title ‘self made’ but recently defended herself when talking to Paper Magazine.

‘The self-made thing is true,’ she insisted before adding: ‘I had such a huge platform, I had so many followers already and I had so many people watching me.

‘My parents told me I needed to make my own money, it’s time to learn how to save and spend your own money, stuff like that.

‘What I’m trying to say is I did have a platform, but none of my money is inherited.’

Dwayne Johnson just made his dad Rocky very proud.

The Fast and Furious actor surprised him with an incredible gift – a new house. Over the weekend The Rock shared a video clip on Instagram just after speaking on the phone with his father.

With a huge smile, the generous actor told his 133 million Instagram followers: ‘I just got off the phone with my dad and, man, it was a great call and I just had to share this with you guys really quick.

Instagram Photo

‘So about two, three weeks ago, I called my dad and I said, “Look, you’re probably happy where you’re at but I want to do something for you. I want to buy you a brand new home, wherever you want to live, you can live.”

‘He couldn’t believe it, he was speechless,’ the actor continued.

The Rock said his dad called him to tell him that he was excited – and nervous – to be going to check out properties in Florida, where he’s from.

‘My dad’s an old-school tough guy,’ he explained before continuing his story. ‘I said, “What the hell are you nervous about?” And he said, “Well,” he was searching for words. “No one ever called to tell me they were gonna buy me a house before and the fact that it’s you, it’s my son, I’m so proud of you and I love you so much.”’

Getting emotional, The Rock went on: ‘I never heard my dad talk like that. It felt good to me and it felt good to my heart.

‘You know, my dad used to beat my ass. Tough love, and I hated it back then, but I’m so grateful for it now. It just felt good to kind of give back to the ones who raised you. So, love you too, Pop.’

The Rock also bought his dad a new Cadillac in March after he underwent hip replacement surgery, while over the Christmas holidays, the star filmed the moment he surprised mum Ata with her new house.

In a clip he later uploaded to Instagram, Dwayne captured Ata opening a Christmas card, with a ‘golden ticket’ inside.

Ata, 70, read out loud: ‘We love you mom, and merry Christmas. This Willy Wonka golden ticket is good for…’ – before bursting into tears. She then read: ‘… A brand new home.’

The Game Of Thrones season eight trailer has finally given fans something to get excited about with the mother of all battles and big trouble for Arya Stark.

It comes just over a month before the release date and after two symbolic teasers – one of fire and ice battling over Westeros and another in the Winterfell crypt – that didn’t actually contain any new footage.

But that’s all changed with this footage, and poor Arya seems to be going through hell.

She says: ‘I know death. It’s got many faces. I look forward to seeing this one.’

Elsewhere Daenerys and Jon ride into battle side by side, and Sansa Stark gets a good look at the dragons.

And it looks like Jaime’s made the transition into full on good guy as he declares: ‘I promised to fight for the living, I intend to keep that promise’.

There seems to be a couple of epic battles taking place this season, with various characters, including Jaime, Jorah, Pod and Brienne lining up to face off against the White Walkers who pop up towards the end of the trailer.

The huge battle sequences teased in the trailer, which are going to be breathtaking for us to watch, were physically and mentally draining for everyone involved.

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya explained: ‘It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop.

‘You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do… there are moments you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry.’

Her co-star Iain Glen, who plays Jorah, agreed calling the shoot ‘really miserable’.

‘You get to sleep at seven in the morning and when you wake in the midday you’re still so spent you can’t really do anything, and then you’re back,’ he told Entertainment Weekly.

‘You have no life outside it. You have an absolute fucked bunch of actors.

‘But without getting too method [acting] about it, on screen it bleeds through to the reality of the Thrones world.’

Meanwhile Lena Headey, who plays Cersei, previously admitted that the cast are ‘ready’ to move on to pastures new.

‘It’s the end. It’s the eighth season, which is bonkers. I feel totally chuffed…’ she told Good Morning America.

‘I think everyone’s ready to kind of do new stuff. But I think until it’s over-over, I won’t know how I feel.’

Game Of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on 15 April.

The excitement for Game Of Thrones just ramped a little higher with the release of the final trailer ahead of the series.

Fans finally got a proper look at season eight with the new footage, following two cryptic teasers showing fire and ice battling over Westeros as well as a clip in the Winterfell crypt.

There really isn’t too much longer to wait now until we finally get to see the final series for ourselves.

So when is it actually going to be on screens?

When does Game Of Thrones start on Sky Atlantic?

Stick the date in your diaries folks, as the eighth and final series of Game Of Thrones kicks off on Sky Atlantic in the early hours of 15 April.

It debuts on 14 April in the US on HBO, but will be simulcast with the UK – meaning we’ll get the first episode around 2am on Monday morning.

If you don’t feel like staying up to herald in the new Thrones, you can catch it on Sky Atlantic later that night at the more civilised hour of 9pm.

How many episodes are in the new series?

Here’s the bad news. Unlike previous series of the show this one will be much shorter, with only six episodes rounding things off for good.

However the episodes are likely to be longer than previous ones, meaning you’ll still get as much action as you’re used to.

We still don’t know a whole lot about the series, but you can expect some pretty epic battles, including one battle scene which left everybody drained.

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya explained: ‘It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop.

Captain Marvel is coming to a cinema near you very soon (Picture: Marvel)

The wait is nearly over – Captain Marvel is so close to dropping we can almost hear the sound of Brie Larson whooshing through the air already.

thumbnail for post ID 8824651Met Office issues weather warnings of heavy rain and strong winds across parts of UK

As if we needed another reason to be excited for International Women’s Day, Captain Marvel is released in the UK on March 8.

The reviews are already pouring in, and they’re looking good.

If that’s somehow not enough for you to get excited over, then you should also take the cast into consideration, because it’s a doozy…

Who’s in the cast of Captain Marvel?

  • Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel
  • Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury
  • Ben Mendelsohn as Talos / Keller
  • Jude Law as Yon-Rogg
  • Annette Bening as Supreme Intelligence
  • Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau
  • Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson
  • Lee Pace as Ronan
  • Djimon Hounsou as Korath
  • Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva
  • Rune Temte as Bron-Char

Where have you seen the Captain Marvel cast before?

As is the always case with MCU movies, some pretty big names in Hollywood have signed on to appear in Captain Marvel.

Brie Larson has certainly been around the block before, having starred in critically acclaimed movies like Short Term 12 in 2013, and winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2015 for her role in Room.

Assuming you’re a Marvel fan, you’ll have seen Samuel L Jackson play Nick Fury and Clark Gregg play Agent Coulson in previous MCU movies.

Jackson has also appeared in Unbreakable, Glass, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, and of course, the modern classic Snakes on a Plane. Meanwhile Gregg was also in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Choke.

And those aren’t the only two reprising their old roles in the franchise – Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou are both coming back to play Ronan and Korath respectively, after not being seen since the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Lee Pace has also been in another little franchise called The Hobbit Trilogy as Thranduil, and Honsou has acted in Blood Diamond, Gladiator, and Aquaman.

Gemma Chan has recently appeared in Crazy Rich Asians, and Ben Mendelsohn’s bread and butter lately has been playing baddies in big name blockbusters like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Ready Player One.

Four-time Oscar nominee, and recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Annette Bening has had an illustrious career on the stage and screen since 1980.

She’s previously appeared in critically lauded movies like American Beauty, 20th Century Women, and The Kids Are All Right.

And you’d have to go far to find someone who’s never heard of late 90’s-00’s heart-throb Jude Law. His career has seen him appear in modern sci-fi classic Gattaca, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and The Holiday.

Madonna celebrates Like A Prayer music video’s 30th anniversary and the ‘controversy’ that made it iconic

Madonna looks back on Like A Prayer with fond memories (Picture: Getty, Madonna)

Madonna caused quite a storm with the release of her controversial music video for Like A Prayer, but she’s quite proud of the scandal as she celebrates the song’s 30th anniversary.

Back in 1989, the queen of pop sparked sheer outrage with the Mary Lambert-directed visuals, which saw Madonna kiss a black saint alongside images of burning crosses and stigmata.

Oh, the drama.

Reflecting on the controversy with fond memories, Madonna wrote in an Instagram post: ‘30 years ago today I released Like a Prayer and made a video that caused so much controversy because I kissed a black saint and danced in front of burning crosses!

‘I also made a commercial with PEPSI that was banned because my video was seen as inappropriate. Happy Birthday to Me and Controversy! #likeaprayer [sic].’

Before Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball or Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, Madonna’s Like A Prayer was at the centre of one of the biggest scandals pop had seen at the time.

In January 1989, two months before the video’s release, Madonna signed a staggering $5 million (£3.8 million) endorsement deal with Pepsi meaning she was deemed family-friendly enough to front one of the biggest brands in the world.

However, it all came crumbling down just two months later when the full visual for Like A Prayer visuals were released.

Madonna had initially teased a clip which showed her singing alongside a gospel choir, which seemed innocent enough.

So it’s no surprise that Pepsi felt completely blindsided to see the pop star seducing a black saint and burning crosses.

Instagram Photo

An advert she had filmed with the soft drink brand, which featured scenes from the Like A Prayer video, did air following the controversy but Pepsi pulled the commercial after threats of a boycott.

The brand quickly distanced themselves from Madge, 60, and promptly terminated the contract they’d signed just weeks before.

Reacting to the controversy, Pepsi told the New York Times in 1989: ‘When you’ve got an ad that confuses people or concerns people, it just makes sense that that ad goes away.’

Naturally offended by the anti-religious imagery, the Vatican condemned the video. Still, Madonna managed to perform the song in front of the Pope in 2008.

Gotta admire her tenacity.

Despite the outrage, Like A Prayer spent three weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and was voted MTV’s most groundbreaking music video of all time, proving the song’s weight amongst fans.

When so many musicians play it safe, Like A Prayer perfectly symbolises the fearlessness that pop can and should represent.

So whenever a new-age pop star dares to be controversial and risque, we’ll always remember that Like A Prayer did it first.

And for that alone, it should always be celebrated – seducing saints, aside of course.

A child star and musician who appeared in Jack Black film School of Rock has been arrested multiple times for allegedly stealing guitars and an amplifier.

Joey Gaydos Jr. played young lead guitarist Zack ‘Zack-Attack’ Mooneyham in the 2003 comedy.

According to TMZ, Joey is facing charges in Florida for larceny and grand theft after police caught him four times in the last five weeks.

The website reports Joey had allegedly been walking into shops, asking to test the instruments and then walking out without paying for them.

He would then allegedly sell them in pawn shops, the website adds.

The items he’s alleged to have stolen are a Les Paul Epiphone Prophecy guitar which is valued at $800, a black Fender Stratocaster worth $699 and a Gibson Les Paul gold top believed to be worth $1,900.

According to TMZ, police alleged the musician blamed the incidents on a drug problem.

Joey played 'Zack Attack' in the 2003 film

However, he later entered not guilty pleas in court for the guitars, while he’s yet to give a plea in the amplifier case.

According to IMBD, Joey didn’t do any other acting work after School of Rock but released a self-titled album a year after the film was released.

He was absent from the School of Rock cast reunion that took place earlier this year in New York.

School of Rock also starred Joan Cusack as Principal Rosalie ‘Roz’ Mullins, Mike White as Ned Schneebly and Sarah Silverman as Patty Di Marco.

The film grossed $131 worldwide on a $35 million budget. It spawned a stage adaption and also a TV series, which premiered on Nickelodeon in March 2016.

From pole-dancing and pee songs to lip kits: Kylie Jenner’s road to becoming a billionaire

Kylie Jenner is officially a billionaire, thanks mostly to her hugely successful make-up line and countless lip kits.

The 21-year-old’s newly found status means she’s the youngest ‘self-made’ billionaire in the world, and managed to reach the milestone two years earlier than Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Side note: Zucks, what were you playing at for those two years?

So, to celebrate Ky’s huge fortune, let’s take a jaunt down memory lane and refresh our minds of just where she came from.

Pole-dancing on Keeping Up With The Kardashians

We first met the youngest member of the Kar-Jenner family all the way back in October, 2007, on the pilot episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

We were introduced to Ky when Kim Kardashian gifted mum Kris and then-husband Caitlyn Jenner a stripper pole for their anniversary, and the make-up guru decided to have a spin on it, aged just 10-years-old.

It was a bit weird and quite awkward watching the episode back now…

She later admitted this was the top moment she would most like to forget from her time on the show.

Sorry, Ky.

Her top-notch Kim Kardashian impression

Years before people started claiming Kylie was coming after sister Kim’s throne for real, she proved how good her impression of her older sister was, while mocking her mercilessly with Kendall.

In another old episode of the E! show, she could be seen ripping the mum-of-three while staring at herself in the mirror, yelling: ‘I am Kim Kardashian! I am fabulous and I am the best, and everyone does what I say and soon, I’ll be queen of the world!’

Well, she wasn’t wrong…

Model wars

One of the best moments of KUWTK has to be when Kylie showed her jealous side after Kendall revealed she wanted to be a model.

While most people were all for the 14-year-old showing off her modelling prowess, Ky was less than impressed and quickly tried to steal her thunder like a typical younger sister.

‘If you want to help her model, you can help her model, but it’s just going to go to her head and all of us will be in her little throne path and listening to her,’ she fumed, before making up a book full of pictures of herself and launching it straight at Kenny’s head.

Any younger sister can relate to that one, and it looks like Kylie has had the last laugh now.

Helping Kris Jenner wee in public

Kylie has a reputation for being one of the most generous members of her famous family, previously gifting best friend Jordyn Woods a string of Cartier bracelets and a car on her birthday, and buying Kris a very expensive sports car simply for being her mum.

Side note: She might be rethinking Jordyn’s gift after all that cheating drama…

But the most helpful thing she helped her mum out with? Encouraging her to have a wee by making her her very own song to pee to, when the momager was too scared to use a public toilet.

She grabbed Kendall and pal Pia Mia, and headed straight into a recording studio, belting out a little wee rap.

Lip liner to entrepreneur

A big part of Kylie Jenner’s billionaire status is thanks to her lips. Fans started noticing something was a little different (read: fuller) about her pout back in 2014, but she vowed it was actually nothing more than some intense lip-liner action.

She then came clean about getting fillers a year later, admitting she had always been insecure about her lips after a boy commented that they were too small.

‘I just didn’t feel desirable or pretty. I really wanted bigger lips,’ she explained during an episode of reality show Life Of Kylie. ‘I would overline my lips with lip liner just to create the illusion of bigger lips.

Instagram Photo

‘And then finally I was like this lip liner isn’t doing it. [I] ended up getting my lips done.’

It was this that led her straight to her very own collection of lip-liner kits, which quickly branched out to lipsticks, glosses, highlighters and every other product you could ever want on your face.

Like realising stuff

Kylie’s most quotable moment came as she celebrated New Year 2016 by telling fans about her resolutions for the next 12 months. Which is fair enough until she declared it the year of ‘like, realising stuff’.

‘Everyone around me, we’re all just realising things,’ she confidently told the camera.

Well, three years later and she’s a damn billionaire so maybe we all need to get realising some things…

Congratulations to Billionaire Kylie Jenner.

Sonic the… something

How can that Sonic the Hedgehog movie render be both not as bad as I was fearing and also hilariously awful? Coming out after all the excellent Pokémon: Detective Pikachu trailers is extra embarrassing, although I have no idea what a good realistic Sonic would look like. The whole idea seems so hilariously wrong, especially as it’s set in the real world where presumably Sonic is going to be one of the few non-human characters?

I know it never really made sense that Sonic was a hedgehog but he looks more like a werewolf or something here. Surely they’re meant to be spines on his back, not fur? I don’t think hedgehogs even have fur do they? I know that’s irrelevant in a fantasy thing like this but nothing about this makes any sense and it just looks like a cheap knock-off. Like someone couldn’t get the actual Sonic licence so they made something similar instead.

The big question now is whether the games are going to use that design? Presumably at least one will but eww… Would be interested to know if anyone thinks the design actually looks good. Not to have a go, but just genuinely would be curious.

Same again

Over the weekend I dived into The Division 2 open beta. Having enjoyed the first game I have high hopes as to how the second iteration will turn out. Whilst it was admittedly very fun it does seem as if Ubisoft have just taken the same game and placed it in a new environment. I can’t fault it for the gameplay aspects, which have always been very slick, and the presentation, which is top notch, but I feel that Ubisoft is stuck in the model of constantly regurgitating its games year after year.

Far Cry is a great example of this, where they have essentially been making the same game since Far Cry 3. Come on Ubisoft – offer us something new and completely different to that which has come before!

Brotherly love

In response to sinkstrikes’ letter about Resident Evil 5, I remember enjoying it a lot. Admittedly I only played it in co-op with my brother, but we must have completed it over 10 times. Playing mercenaries in two-player was fun too.

In the later levels zombies with guns is daft but the earlier levels were a lot of fun. I thought the earlier claustrophobic level design created tension where later on it started to become more like a cover shooter.

I like that they tried a different environment.

Happy birthday

I was wondering if you or your readers would be able to help me with a couple of questions about potential purchases?

FIrstly, I’m stuck for something to buy my girlfriend for her birthday. She usually has no interest in games but, to my happy amazement, became obsessed with XCOM. We already have XCOM 2 and War Of The Chosen, but do you think the XCOM 2 Reinforcement Pack is worth a purchase? It seems to contain Shen’s Last Gift and a couple of other bits and bobs that seem more based around customisation, which she has no interest in. It’s just me that is sad enough to name all my soldiers after Game of Thrones characters! Is Shen’s Last Gift worthwhile?

Secondly – I know you raved about Divinity: Original Sin II but I am on the fence. It seems like the kind of game I would love but I only managed a few hours of the original – the story was far too dry for my taste, with reams of text that, in my opinion, tried too hard to be funny. It just completely turned me off. Do you think it’s worth picking up with that in mind?
deckscrubber02

GC: Shen’s Last Gift is a small piece of DLC that adds a new multi-part mission and a soldier class. If you like XCOM 2 it’s a neat extra but as the £8 price tag suggests it’s pretty short. Divinity: Original Sin II was specifically designed by the developer as something he could play with his girlfriend, so considering its combat has a lot in common with XCOM that seems perfect for you both.

Perfect fit

In my Inbox letter yesterday I stated that I sold my PlayStation 4 not long after purchasing my Switch and I have never regretted it. I wrote this because it’s true and I haven’t.

Money isn’t an issue, I could buy a dozen of them if I wanted to, the issue was time and me having an autistic child who uses the TV often. Being able to play games like Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on a portable has been a game changer for me.

However, my opinion that I don’t regret selling my PlayStation 4 seemed to have amused a person or two in the comments section, saying ‘I should keep telling myself that!’ and that the Switch is good for playing inferior versions of Fortnite, Diablo, Dark Souls, etc.

No, the Switch is good for playing versions of those games on the go and is building up a great catalogue of exclusives. I’ve got nothing against the PlayStation 4, it’s a great console, but for me personally the Switch is more versatile and suits my life style better!
wasimr34

Docking clearance

My son’s Switch has recently stopped displaying on the TV when docked (though the green light comes on and it still charges). Google suggests it is quite a common fault but anything I’ve tried doesn’t work (plugging in cables in different orders for example). I can get it to display for a split second if I change the resolution in the settings before docking it, but alas it then reverts to no signal.

I reckon I’ll need to try a different dock and/or console to work out where the fault lies but thought I’d ask if any readers (or your good selves) have any ideas.
Suspect
PS: I think the writer of the weekend feature on the merits of the Xbox is getting an undue hard time. I have enjoyed various games across all systems this generation but probably had the most fun with Dead Rising 3 and Gears Of War 4. I know they are not viewed by the majority of folk as being that great but they appealed to me.

GC: We’ve never heard of that problem but perhaps a reader has.

After hours

Coming into work with an IV drip sounds a bad comedy sketch. I know Nintendo works its developers to the bones, but that’s something else. Worse thing is it wasn’t actually Nintendo, it was Masahiro Sakurai just taking it upon himself. And he’s still doing it to get the DLC done!

I was going to make a joke about BioWare needing to put in as much effort but I bet they did really, they just needed more time as well. There’s something really wrong with the way video games are made and it seems it needs an unhealthy effort whether you’re forced to do overtime or not.

Fourth run

I’m currently on my fourth full playthrough of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild (cleared it twice on Wii U, normal and master mode) and am just finishing off master mode once again on the Switch.

By finishing off I mean collecting and buying all the clothing and armour, fully upgrading it all at the fairy fountains, getting the upgraded versions of Link’s powers in the Champions Ballad DLC, cooking the most potent attacking elixirs in the game and going Golden Lynel hunting for the game’s best weapons and star fragments.

I do have a tendency to use Breath Of The Wild amiibos too, which don’t give me that much of an advantage. It’s just pretty cool when you know your Daruk amiibo can be scanned for a stone smasher when you’re desperate not to break all your swords.

I guess I’ll go pay Ganon a visit at the castle again when I get the urge to, which won’t be any time soon.

I’m still amazed that after spending so much time with Breath Of The Wild I didn’t realise that the ancient horse armour can warp your steed to your spot by whistling it or that there’s other horse armour in the game that I’ve never come across before until my fourth playthrough.

I know 441 Korok seeds will complete your inventory but I bet I still haven’t come across all 900 in my combined playthroughs.

When I saw previews for Breath Of The Wild I wasn’t that excited before release. I kept noticing video previews of it but didn’t have the highest of hopes, but it’s gone on to be one of my favourite games ever; even maybe surpassing Ocarina Of Time in the Zelda stakes, which is something I don’t say lightly as that’s probably got the best pacing of a video game I’ve ever had the pleasure to play.

Kudos to Nintendo for making a game that I didn’t get bored of even two years after its release.
Nick The Greek

Inbox also-rans

I probably should’ve realised it by now but isn’t a shame that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe didn’t have any more new tracks as DLC? The first sets were great and even if they were just remakes of old ones I would’ve happily paid for them. Seems like money left on the table to me.
Clackers

So, in light of the all the PlayStation 4s being crashed by Anthem, can we all agree to change its developers name to BioMalware? Just until this whole debacle is resolved of course…

This week’s Hot Topic

The subject for this weekend’s Inbox was suggested by reader Edone, who challenges you to name the worst part of your favourite game.

Nothing’s perfect, so what is it you don’t like about the game or games you otherwise love? Is it a trivial detail or something that actually impacts your enjoyment of the game? How would you fix the problem and what effect would that have on how you – and the wider world – think of the game?

How tolerant are you in general about games with obvious flaws and are there some things which you regularly give a pass to? Or are there some flaws which instantly put you off a game, no matter what else it gets right?

They were once majorly keen to keep their unlikely romance well under wraps.

But now Hollywood star Channing Tatum and Brit singer Jessie J aren’t afraid to shout about their blossoming romance to the entire world.

The pair’s latest social media love-in saw Jessie share a screen grab of a private direct message conversation between them this week.

Jessie was happy to share this with her millions of Instagram followers (Photo: Instagram)

Channing, 38, was replying to an Instagram story of the Price Tag singer, 30, blowing a kiss to camera.

The Magic Mike star wrote: ‘Yes I won’t rest till I caress fresh face Jess. I will finesse till success. Never digress. Just progress. Bless.’

Yup, apparently lyricist Channing Tatum and Jessie have way more in common than everyone originally thought.

‘Hahahaha baaaarrs yeah,’ Jessie wrote back.

She shared the grab with her 7.7. million followers and added a love heart eye emoji as she pointed to her man’s profile picture.

Her post comes just days after Channing stunned fans with a comment he left on one of her saucy bikini pictures.

The social media post showed the Bang Bang star showing off her figure in a black bikini and mesh top while sitting by four full plates of food.

‘Hottest Instagram food model in the game right now,’ the smitten actor commented.

The pair were first romantically linked back in October, and have since been spotted out together on numerous occasions supporting each other’s shows.

However, the duo have been reluctant to officially confirm their relationship as Tatum was more than happy to keep everyone guessing when he was quizzed about his girlfriend at the Magic Mike Live press night.

The actor was asked by The Mirror how Jessie was, and he jokingly responded: ‘What’s that? Who’s that?’

Reporters continued: ‘You know, Jessie J,’ to which Tatum simply replied ‘Who’s that?’ before giving a laugh and a wink.

Game Of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown: White Walkers at Winterfell to Cersei’s Golden Company army

HBO has released a new trailer for Game Of Thrones season eight to be intensely dissected until its April release, but what does the new footage show?

The TV phenomena is set to kick off its final ever season next month, with the question looming over who, if anyone, will finally claim the Iron Throne following the battle with the White Walkers.

So as Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa Stark and more gear up for their final bow, here’s what we can speculate and confirm from the latest trailer.

What is Arya running away from?

Arya is terrified of something – is it the White Walkers or something else? (Picture: HBO)

The opening shots of the trailer show Arya Stark seemingly fleeing and running around, what appears to be, the walls of Winterfell. As this plays out, Arya is heard saying over the top: ‘I know death. It’s got many faces, I look forward to seeing this one.’

This obviously refers to her face-swapping skills with the Faceless Men, but considering Arya has become a steel-faced assassin – it must be something of significant threat to cause such a panicked state. The confidence in what she says is also a juxtaposition of what we see, potentially being a before and after of hearing about the White Walkers and seeing them in action.

Her solo panicked run, however, could mark potential doom for Winterfell, if the Night King has somehow taken the castle while Arya is inside?

Cersei finally has her Golden Company army

Cersei has an enormous army in The Golden Company (Picture: HBO)

The trailer also gave our first look at the Golden Company army Cersei has recruited to help defend her throne, seen presumably sailing across the border from Essos. The person running the ship (who looks like a young Jaime) is their leader Harry Strickland played by Marc Rissman.

If you recall in season seven, Cersei told her brother Jaime how ally Euron Greyjoy had sailed across to retrieve the army, leading to Jaime ditching his sister for plotting behind his back.

With King’s Landing in the south on the Westeros map far from Winterfell, it’s likely this army will play a huge part in the final very end battle – which may have been teased at a later point in this trailer.

Tormund and Beric survived the fall of the wall

Tormund and Beric are seen emerging with fire sword in hand (Picture: HBO)

After the Night King destroyed the Wall in the season seven finale, a number of characters were left with their lives hanging in the balance as people tumbled below.

This trailer confirms the return of both Tormund and Beric who were both seen at the Wall during the final moments, so we can rest easy we’ll see the fire sword back in action.

Jon Snow and Daenerys enter Winterfell

Jon Snow and Daenerys enter Winterfell (Picture: HBO)

Even though this was already confirmed to be happening, we got our best glimpse yet at Jon Snow and Daenerys riding North to Winterfell with her stunning dragons flying overhead.

‘They’re coming. Our enemy doesn’t tire, doesn’t stop, doesn’t feel,’ Jon Snow says.

Interestingly, the shot here cuts to a satisfied-looking Cersei Lannister – indicating she could be more ruthless, or more deadly, than the White Walker armies in the final race.

Will Jon Snow ride a dragon?

Will Jon Snow ride a dragon? (Picture: HBO)

A brief shot shows Jon Snow and Daenerys side-by-side approaching her remaining dragons on a winter clearing.

Considering what we now know about Jon Snow’s true Targaryen parentage, could this be his first steps towards riding a dragon alongside his new aunt lover? With two remaining dragons after Viserion fell to the Night King, it would make sense on a logistical (and cinematic) level.

Do we see two major battles at play?

Jaime Lannister is seen fighting – but is it separate from Winterfell? (Picture: HBO)

Throughout the trailer, two major battles appear to be teased. The fight for Winterfell with the White Walker armies, shown in the final Helm’s Deep-like shot across Podrick and Brienne Of Tarth, and another seeing Jaime Lannister fighting amid the flames.

A recent description from EW about the battle of Winterfell states: ‘Here fan favourites like Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), and Brienne Of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) are fighting for their lives, impossibly outnumbered against a supernatural army.’

This description indicates Jaime Lannister isn’t part of the battle of Winterfell, leaving a big question mark over what could be battle where Jaime is screaming surrounded by fire. Could he return to King’s Landing to fight against Cersei as Jon Snow and Daenerys escape south?

Jaime Lannister appears to have ditched Cersei entirely

Jaime is determined to fight for the living (Picture: HBO)

The end of season seven saw Jaime turn his back on Cersei and flee north, ditching their incestuous romance and fiery friendship.

In the trailer, Jaime can be heard saying: ‘I promise to fight for the living. I intend to keep that promise.’

While it’s unclear who he’s saying it to, it’s likely this could be an encounter with Jon Snow and Daenerys to prove his allegiance. Or potentially, a reaffirmation of his stance against Cersei towards her.

White Walker horse feet are disgusting

A pair of hooves end the trailer (Picture: HBO)

The trailer ends with a menacing stomp from what appears to be feet from the White Walker’s horse, as they face Winterfell ahead.

With the Night King atop Daenerys dragon, this could be another key member of the army leading the battle instead. But considering we don’t see undead Viserion flying around Winterfell, could the Night King be occupied by another battle elsewhere?

Game Of Thrones season eight kicks off Sunday 14 April on HBO and Sky Atlantic.

Game Of Thrones season 8 trailer: Anyone know where the Greyjoys went?

What does Game Of Thrones season eight have in store for Theon and Yara Greyjoy? (Picture: HBO)

The Game Of Thrones season eight trailer gave fans a first look at where all the surviving characters are at ahead of the April release date.

Arya, Jon, Daenerys, Cersei, Sansa and Bran all appear in the new trailer, which actually revealed some actual new footage from the upcoming season.

Even Gendry and Pod pop up, but you’d be hard pushed to find the Greyjoys.

Yara Greyjoy, her brother Theon and their murderous, maniacal uncle Euron don’t seem to get a look in anywhere in the nearly two minute long clip.

Some fans think they might have spotted Euron in the throne room speaking to Cersei, while others claim they saw Yara alongside Gendry (now that would be a pairing we didn’t see coming).

Is Euron in this scene? (Picture: HBO)

There are some Greyjoy ships (Picture: HBO)
Where are the ships headed? (Picture: HBO)

But other than a fleet of Greyjoy ships sailing into action, bearing a load of fighters from the Golden Company across the water, there doesn’t seem to be a hint of Greyjoy anywhere.

What does this say about the fate of the Greyjoys next season?

What we do see in the trailer is plenty of danger and destruction as huge battle scenes are coming up involving pretty much all the surviving characters.

And while it will be epic for us to watch, it was incredibly tough for the actors.

Taboo series 2 will have ‘bigger impact’ after delay says creator Steven Knight

Taboo released way back in January 2017 (Picture: BBC)

Taboo’s second series has yet to start filming, but co-creator Steven Knight believes the show will have a ‘bigger impact’ second time round despite the delay.

The first series, released back in January 2017 on BBC One, followed James Delaney (Tom Hardy) as he returned to London following his father’s death – boasting gritty stylised visuals within a 19th century setting.

It became a flagship BBC drama which met favourable reviews, but a second series was only confirmed November last year, almost two years after it aired.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, co-creator Steven Knight confirmed shooting on the second series starts at the end of this year or the beginning of 2020.

Tom Hardy will be back as James Delaney – just not for a while (Picture: HBO)

‘It’s been difficult to schedule because of Tom Hardy’s commitments and his wife [Charlotte Riley] had a baby, but the first six hours are written and we’ll start shooting that end of this year, beginning of next,’ Knight said.

Asked if he’s worried about the time gap between series, Knight added: ‘It is a lot of time but it’s one of those things. There’s not a lot you can do about it because, fortunately, it’s a world in which the people who are acting and performing and directing are all in great demand.

‘It’s the same with Peaky Blinders, those actors get pulled away and get asked to do lots of other things, which is great and long may they be so. But with someone like Tom, it can only be him.

‘He brings something special to it. And when we do come out with a second series I think it’ll have an even bigger impact than before.’

The series one finale saw Delaney lead his band of men and women onto a ship bound for Ponta Delgada after a huge shootout, with a new world seemingly on the horizon.

Speaking about series two, Knight said: ‘It will be the same and it’ll be different.

‘James Delaney will be the same, and some of the characters around him will be the same, but in a new environment which I can’t tell you about.’

Knight also spoke about the future of Peaky Blinders and Tommy Shelby, teasing how series five will be on ‘a different level’.

Taboo series two starts filming later this year, with a return expected in 2020.

Lauren Goodger has accused Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan of deliberately dodging her when they all bumped into each other in Essex recently.

After meeting when they were just 14, the two TOWIE stars dated on and off for 12 years before they split for good in 2011, and Mark went on to meet now-wife Michelle.

The former couple haven’t exactly been on the best of terms since their split and on multiple occasions Mark has found himself publicly pleading with his ex to ‘leave me out of your public conversations’.

So it’s not entirely surprising Lauren revealed the pair decided to blank her recently.

Speaking to new! Magazine, Lauren said: ‘I bumped into Mark the other day. I didn’t realise it was him. I saw his body and thought “I know that body” but it was a lot smaller.

‘I looked and smiled and Michelle was there I’d happily say hello but he looked in the other direction. It was fine. It was like they didn’t even know me.’

When asked if she and Mark could ever get to the point of saying hello to each other, Lauren replied: ‘I would, I don’t think they would. I haven’t got a problem – it’s history. We were engaged and that’s it.’

Despite splitting years ago, Lauren also dished on the pair’s sex life to the magazine.

‘He was obsessed with me and I was obsessed with him. Sex keeps you together as well, so we had the connection,’ she said.

‘There’s no love like your first love,’ she added.

Shortly after Mark and Michelle wed, the TV presenter very publicly slammed his ex on Twitter.

‘It’s hurtful to think one person needs to mention YOU every week to earn a living,’ he fumed.

‘Being married to another women [sic] almost makes it unfair!! If [you’re] reading this, please PLEASE respect my wife and STOP.’

Lauren’s most recent relationship was with jailbird Joey Morrison, who she dated for two years before dumping him last summer.

She later said the romance was a total ‘waste of time’.

Rita Ora and Andrew Garfield have split following a four month romance, according to reports.

The pair were said to have sparked a romance in November last year, having been seen having a stroll together in London a month later.

It’s claimed their romance has now bitten the dust, however, which doesn’t appear to been too much bother for the pair.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source said: ‘The relationship just fizzled out. It’s sad but they have both accepted the situation and moved on.’

Contradictory sources however on The Sun state Rita is ‘cut up’ about the whole incident, with Andrew seeking a more private life.

‘They spent Christmas together and she thought things were going well between them,’ a close source said.

‘Her career is going from strength to strength and lives her life in the spotlight but he told her he wanted to lead a more private life.

‘Rita had tried to do that and had kept their romance off social media but things didn’t work out.’

Rita’s romance with Andrew emerged a few months after she split from music producer Andrew Watt, and has also previously dated superstar DJ Calvin Harris in 2014.

Garfield, known for playing Spider-Man and starring in The Social Network, also previously dated actress Emma Stone having met on set of The Amazing Spider-Man back in 2011.

They dated on and off until 2015 and never formally split, but it’s believed they remain good friends.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Andrew and Rita’s reps for comment.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off begins tonight to help raise money for the Stand Up to Cancer charity.

Fans will see four celebrities step into the tent hoping to show off their baking skills, without too many mishaps.

Tonight’s contestants will be American actor John Lithgow, Paralympian Hanna Cockroft, and comedians Russell Brand and Jon Richardson.

Jon has worked in comedy since leaving university and he has continued to grow his presence in the public eye after initially starting out on radio while touring the comedy circuit.

He has made several performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, earning a Best Newcomer nomination in 2007.

He presented a radio show on BBC 6 Music with fellow comedian Russell Howard before hosting it solo.

Since then the 36-year-old has appeared on numerous panel shows including Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie To You.

One of his most well known roles is as a team captain on 8 out of 10 Cats, which he did for four years up until 2015, when his attention then switched to the spin-off series 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Jon Richardson has also been open about his struggles with OCD, which he has spoken about openly in interviews and his stand-up.

The comedian also presented a series for Channel 4 in 2012 called A Little Bit OCD, which took a look at people who suffer from the disorder and ways that it can be treated.

He has had three major comedy tours that have seen him travel across the UK with Funny Magnet (2012), Nidiot (2014) and Old Man (2018), and they have all been turned into DVD releases.

Jon has been married to fellow comedian Lucy Beaumont since 2015.

Lucy, from Yorkshire, has been a comedy performer since 2011 and she is most known for her observational humour about her home city of Kingston upon Hull which she regular mocks in her routine.

She has also written and starred in her own radio comedy show To Hull and Back, and made appearances in TV shows such as Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, and Jon Richardson: Ultimate Warrior.

The couple currently have one child together, Elsie, who was born in 2016.
