Captain Marvel is finally out (Picture: Rex)

Captain Marvel was finally released on 8 March, giving us all a look at Brie Larson in action.

Unsurprisingly, she absolutely smashed it.

But, what has come as a surprise are the details and characters Marvel changed on Carol Danvers’ journey from the comics to the big screen.

And we have a couple of questions…

**WARNING: Major Captain Marvel spoilers below**

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel was released in cinemas on 8 March (Picture: Marvel)

Carol Danvers

In the original book, Carol worked as head of security at the US Air Force alongside Mar-Vell’s secret identity. Her DNA was altered to be ‘part-Kree’ during a scheme to attack Mar-Vell, giving her super powers.

However, this is a little different in the big screen adaptation, as Brie’s Carol Danvers is a fighter pilot, who shoots a light-speed engine to keep it out of Kree’s hands during an intense battle. The shot means she accidentally absorbs the engine’s power, thus gaining her talents.

Yon-Rogg

Jude Law was able to flex his bad guy acting skills in the movie, taking on the role of Yon-Rogg, who is first introduced to viewers as a trainer for Carol. But (SPOILER ALERT) it is revealed he’s actually the one who attacked Carol and Mar-Vell, causing her to gain her powers.

Not cool, Jude…

Jude Law’s character is a little different to the books (Picture: Marvel)

In the comic book, Yon-Rogg is still a nasty piece of work, he’s just a little more up front about it. His jealousy towards Mar-Vell results in the accident in which Carol gets her powers, but he also gets a telepathic link to her in the kerfuffle.

Mar-Vell

Jude was actually tipped to be playing Mar-Vell, who was male in the comic books. He was a Kree warrior who eventually defected, and defended Earth against his people. He was also the original Captain Marvel – which makes a little sense, considering his name.

While in the film, Mar-Vell has been transformed into a female military scientist, played by Annette Bening. She posed as a human, but was actually a Kree who was attempting to help the Skrulls – alien shapeshifters who have been warring against Kree – escape by developing a light-travel drive. She died at the hands of Yon-Rogg, giving her powers to Carol.

Nick Fury

Nick Fury’s character has given us one of the biggest differences between the films and comic books, and we’re a little shaken up by it.

So this is how Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury lost his eye… (Picture: Marvel)

Okay, a touch dramatic… But the movie finally answers how Samuel L Jackson’s character lost his eye, and was subjected to wearing his trademark eye patch for the rest of his days. While we don’t want to give too much away, it has a lot to do with a pesky alien cat.

How did he lose his eye in the comics? No cat in sight, he instead sustained the injury during the Gulf War.

Speaking of alien cats…

Chewie the Cat got replaced by Goose… (Picture: Reuters)

Let’s face it, as excited as we were for Brie Larson, we were mostly here to see how Chewie the Cat came across.

Everyone’s favourite Flerken – a powerful alien who can hide things inside its body – while looking and behaving like a cat. Basically the best character in the entire Marvel universe, sorry Iron Man.

There is one main difference in the movie, Chewie is no longer Chewie. Chewie the Cat is now Goose. Goose the Cat.

Captain Marvel is in cinemas now.

Not content with owning Marvel movies, movies about snakes on planes, and the Star Wars prequels, Samuel L Jackson is now ready to take over Bollywood.

The Captain Marvel star admitted he would be keen to star in Baahubali 3 if it’s ever made; the original is a 2015 Indian epic action film directed by S. S. Rajamouli and about an adventurous young man who discovers he is the heir to the throne.

Speaking to MostlySane, an Indian YouTube channel, Samuel was asked if he had ever visited India to which he said he would want to visit but only if they gave him a job.

‘I want to be in Baahubali 3,’ he said before admitting that he can’t sing or dance ‘but I can fake it’.

The original film was made for $25 million, making it the most expensive Indian film at its time of release but in only four years it has already been pushed down to 10th.

It broke box office records and became the highest-grossing film in India, and third highest-grossing Indian film worldwide at the time of release.

Jackson is a major cinephile and he recently admitted that he loves movies so much he even watches his own sometimes.

‘I watch old movies of mine all the time, if I’m channel surfing and there’s nothing else on and there is a movie on I stop and watch,’ he said.

‘I stop and watch Die Hard (With A Vengeance) all the time.’

So do we, Sam, so do we.

I started the #MuteRKelly campaign because I wanted to give young black women a voice

R Kelly being interviewed by Gayle King for CBS this week
Time after time, despite an often overwhelming tide of evidence against them, rich and powerful men are given worldwide platforms to discredit their accusers (Picture: CBS/BACKGRID)

In the summer of 2017, I was alone in my office when a story broke on the news about R Kelly being accused of holding young women in ‘sex cults’ in his Atlanta area home. I was outraged.

For years I had heard rumors, allegations and even trials surrounding R Kelly, yet I couldn’t believe that still he didn’t seem to be facing any serious consequences. I felt compelled to act.

It started as a humble online petition to have R Kelly removed from local radio – I never imagined it would spark a worldwide movement to bring him to justice.

I did not know that I would help to usher in an era of women coming forward to share their stories of sexual abuse at the hands of rich and powerful men.

#MuteRKelly has succeeded over these last two years in part due to the work that I and my co-founder Kenyette Barnes have put into the campaign, but overwhelmingly due to the support and work of individual black women in cities across the nation who carried the banner of #MuteRKelly into their homes, communities, schools and churches.

It was a network of solitary women across the country that kept our chant alive over these tumultuous two years. It has been the sacrifices of our sisters that have gotten us this far.

It is also through our collective advocacy and support that women from across the country felt emboldened to come forward with their stories. Despite being ignored for decades, our insistence that the media take the abuse of young black women seriously helped them offer a platform.

But why has it taken almost 30 years and dozens of victims, witnesses, multiple videotapes, and a nationwide financial boycott for us to begin to bring R Kelly to justice?

Why did it take #MeToo and Time’s Up rallying hundreds of thousands of women from across the globe to stand together in protest for rich and powerful men to be asked to account for their actions?

Why, decades after the feminist movement shifted so much in our culture, are women still fighting for space to tell our stories, and to be believed?

Time after time, despite an often overwhelming tide of evidence against them, rich and powerful men are given worldwide platforms to discredit their accusers and seek sympathy for the pain and inconvenience that these charges cause them.

The world seems acutely attuned to their version of events, while their alleged victims have to fight tooth and nail for any audience that they may be granted.

Just this week, R Kelly was given a prime TV slot to tell his side of the story when he was interviewed by Gayle King on CBS, and he again seemed to place the blame on anyone but himself.

When we prioritise money, artistic legacy, power or fame over the safety of women and children, we strengthen the rape culture that imprisons us all.

This is what keeps survivors – male and female – from coming forward, and makes it so hard to prosecute cases when they do, or get a guilty verdict.

It is the culture of rape dictates what women should wear, how they should walk and talk, what places they should and should not visit, what hours they are safely allowed outside, and when, where, how, and with whom they are allowed to desire or engage in sexual relations.

Our emotional connection to the celebrities who have helped shape our lives can make it hard to see rape culture plainly for what it is.

When we think of these men, we think not about their predatory behavior that hurts our community, but of our wedding where we danced to their songs, and our baby’s graduation from kindergarten where they sang the music. Rich and famous abusers can be tied to our happiest, most joyful memories – this makes the accusations even harder to believe.

It is the greatest accomplishment of #MuteRKelly that we are now openly discussing these topics in public forums.

It is only through difficult conversations that we will be able to break down the wall of silence and shame that surrounds sexual abuse.

Currently we’re failing the most vulnerable among us by doing nothing, but each of us has the talent and resources to do something, no matter how small. Even a humble little petition has the potential to change the world.

Taylor Swift would have felt ‘like a fraud’ if she hadn’t left country behind, say The Wandering Hearts

Taylor Swift has been praised by rising country music band The Wandering Hearts for following her artistic passion and changing direction towards pop music.

Taylor found fame as a country music artist but with the release in 2014 of her fifth album 1989, she made the final transition to pop and mainstream success.

Now however, Francesca ‘Chess’ Whiffin has told Metro.co.uk that making a big change such as the one Taylor made is ‘important’ for all artists.

‘I think it’s natural to develop and grow through music, and that may mean that your genre changes a bit or your influence changes and to the outside world it looks like you’re changing direction,’ says Chess.

‘But actually, as artists and writers you have to make the music you want to write and play otherwise you feel like a fraud, so it’s really important to write and play the music you want to do.

‘And if all you ever want to do is rock or country then that’s great, it’s wherever the artist’s passion lies in their songwriting, and so for us and Taylor Swift making that big change. it’s important you write or play the music you want to write, regardless of what you are told.’

With Kacey Musgraves also crossing over to the mainstream – the artist won the covered best album of the year award at this year’s Grammys – it’s well and truly a time for the genre.

‘It’s just so great to see really great people succeeding and especially women in the industry, in country, breaking boundaries for the genre,’ says Chess.

‘Kacey is showing people that, although she has come from a traditional country background, her music has done the similar thing to Taylor, where it has developed and been influenced by who she works with and wants to write about.’

The Wandering Hearts first met in 2015 and after working on their sound added their first songs to Soundcloud in 2017 – and a month later were signed.

It’s been a quick and incredible rise for the band who will perform at country music festival C2C at London’s O2 on Sunday 10 March alongside the likes of Chris Stapleton and Lyle Lovett.

Band member Tim Prottey-Jones left the band at the end of January but they decided to continue on as a threesome, and only weeks later, the deluxe edition of their debut album Wild Silence hit number one on the UK’s Official Americana Chart for the first time, a year after release.

AJ, Chess, and Tara (Picture: Universal)

As we speak to Chess on the phone, she is travelling down to London after performing at the Glasgow stop of the annual festival and she admits they are feeling a little delicate after celebrating the performance.

‘It was our first arena so we did have a little celebration,’ she laughs.

Country and americana music is growing in popularity in the UK in particular, and Chess believes the storytelling quality of the genre is what people are beginning to connect to after years of it being considered niche.

‘Traditional country music is based on story-telling and I think there is a real connection that people find now with lyrics and them meaning something more than just a good catchy hook,’ she suggests.

‘A lot of people listen to our music and say it’s nostalgic of something they grew up listening to, and that’s because we have been influenced by what we listened to growing up.’

The Wandering Hearts were discovered by Decca Records and have been championed by acclaimed American star Marty Stuart who asked them over to Nashville in June 2018, and helped them to become the first UK band to perform at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in the city.

‘We played Marty’s Late Night Jam the night after we arrived and we played two songs and at the end of the second song you could hear a pin drop,’ recalls Chess, ‘and someone said “wow” and everyone stood up and started cheering and we had this mad standing ovation.

‘It was just amazing, we were blown away by the support.’

The sudden rise in their popularity hasn’t stopped the threesome from recognising that they need to stop and revel in these moments whenever possible, with Chess acknowledging that they ‘try and make a point, at each little milestone, to stop and appreciate and celebrate it’.

Then she adds: ‘You don’t know if it all may end tomorrow’.

The band have a busy 2019 ahead of them, as they hit the road with Ward Thomas – another up and coming UK country duo – and they will be getting back in the recording studio to work on their anticipated second album, which Chess reveals will be out in early 2020.

‘It won’t be too far removed but it will have more depth with really great storytelling and better harmonies,’ she hints at where the new music will take them.

‘It is so exciting, and the stuff we have so far has everyone excited so hopefully everyone will like it.’

Not that she’ll spill the beans about any potential collaborations.

‘Lukas Nelson has become a friend of ours and we’ve chatted and would love to collaborate with him, and watching Chris Stapleton last night at Glasgow C2C was incredible,’ she says.

‘He’s such an inspiration – we all had this amazing shared love for him when no one else knew who he was so I think we’d love to work with him.’

But as for any confirmed collabs on the album? All she’ll tease is that there is ‘nothing in set in stone’ yet.

The way the Wandering Hearts are going though, it’s only a matter of time before Taylor and Kacey come calling.

Don’t mess with Pink, because she will have a comeback twice as fierce and she’d not afraid to vent it.

Especially when it comes to her family.

The mother-of-two has just gone and savagely hit out at a fan who thought they’d have a quick jibe in the singer’s direction.

After posting up a picture of herself enjoying a meal with her husband Carey Hart and her two children Jameson, two and Willow, seven, the star was subject to a number of trolls who called the Fun House songstress out for sharing her family time online.

In the caption, the 39-year-old had written: ‘At least twice a week on tour, we shut the door to the outside world and have family dinner.

@pink
The star shared a picture of herself enjoying a family meal (Picture: @pink)

‘As you can see, it makes Jameson feel deep, deep joy. #lastedsevenminutes #gratitude #space #conversation #loosescrews.’

However, despite the sweet snap it seems her 5.6million followers were less than impressed with her uploading her private time to Instagram.

‘“We shut our door to the outside world” …BUT BUT… I post to IG and contradict myself,’ one fan brutally called out with many other comments issuing the same sentiment.

But it seems the What About Us hitmaker had had enough, as she clapped back at someone who wrote: ‘Except it’s posted on ig.’

She said: ‘Yes, I like to promote healthy stuff.

Trolls called her out for sharing private family time on Instagram (Picture: WireImage)

‘I also like to remind people to stop being TOTAL DOUCHE BAGS TOO. Consider this your reminder.’

But as if a telling off from Pink wasn’t enough, the fan replied: ‘and well damn, I was coming to see ya Sunday night in Nashville.. still love the music.’

Not backing down, the superstar then added: ‘That doesn’t change my answer. That just makes you confused.’

Drama!

Pink was recently honoured at the Brit awards for her Outstanding Contribution to Music.

News of her win was announced prior to the live awards ceremony taking place and Pink had said she was ‘honoured’ to have been given the gong – which has seen her follow in the footsteps of some of music greats including Queen and Elton John.

The popstar made history with her win, though, as she became the first ever international star to win the award.

R Kelly net worth, as singer fails to meet child support back-payments

In this Wednesday, March 6, 2019 booking photo released by the Cook County Sheriff???s Office is R. Kelly. A Cook County Sheriff's Office official says singer Kelly won't be released from jail until he pays $161,000 in back child support he owes. Sheriff's office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari says Kelly was taken into custody Wednesday during a hearing over the child support and that his next hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday, March 13. (Cook County Sheriff???s Office via AP)

News broke this week that disgraced singer R Kelly has been held in custody due to $161,000 (£122,000) of child support that hasn’t been paid to his ex-wife Andrea.

Following the judge’s ruling, a representative for Andrea alleged to TMZ that her ex deliberately stopped paying child support after she appeared on a show called Sister Circle Live in June 2018 where she alleged he had been physically and mentally abusive during their marriage.

It’s the latest piece of legal trouble for Kelly, who has had a number of sexual midconduct allegations made against him in recent months.

He posted 10% of the $1 million (£768,230) bail charged required to be released from Cook County Jail at the end of February, after pleading not guilty to 10 counts of sexual abuse. He was set to stand trial for this on 8 March, but reports from this trial have yet to be released.

CBS also reported that police in Detroit were looking into new allegations after a woman came forward, claiming she had sex with the 52-year-old when she was 13, in 2001.

The reports against Kelly are extensive, and were brought to light in the documentary Surviving R Kelly, which aired in February in the UK.

R Kelly net worth

Kelly was one of the most well-known R&B singers of his generation, but over the years his financial situation has worsened considerably.

Last year, Chicago Sun Times reported that he was evicted from a recording studio he was renting after Midwest Commercial Funding alleged he owed them nearly $80,000 in back rent. The judge then awarded the company $166,981 (£128,279) while also issuing an ‘order of possession’ for Midwest Commercial Funding.

Further reports stated he was also removed from two other Atlanta properties for failing to pay more than $30,000 (£23,046) in back rent and fees.

Musician R. Kelly arrives at the Daley Center for a hearing in his child support case at the Daley Center, Wednesday, March 6, 2019, in Chicago. (Picture: AP Photo/Matt Marton)

Regarding the child support issue, Kelly’s publicist, Darryll Johnson, said Kelly was initially prepared to pay $50,000 (£38,411) to $60,000 (£46,093), but the judge wanted the full $161,000 (£122,000) owed. He said Kelly did not have the whole amount because he has not been able to work.

Somebody else posted the $100,000 bail needed during his sexual assault case, and his defense attorney said at the time that Kelly’s finances were ‘a mess’.

Celebrity net worth sites estimate his current net worth to be around $1million (£768,230), although it’s likely to be less based on the fact he has been unable to make the payments listed. It’s thought that he would once have been worth around $200million (£153,646,000) at the height of his fame.

Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta are set to tie the knot in the most lavish wedding India has ever seen.

Since his sister’s nuptials last year, of course.

And a string of Bollywood legends – including Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan – have flown into Mumbai, ready to celebrate with the happy couple.

Just a few weeks after her own wedding party with Nick Jonas ended, Priyanka looked incredible as she arrived at the Jio World Centre for Akash and Shloka’s big day.

The 36-year-old was one of the first to arrive, rocking an intricate, light grey sari for the day as she reunited with mum Madhu and brother Siddharth.

Kareena Kapoor also made it a family affair, making her way into the swanky do with sister Karisma.

Fresh off the back of calling out her cruel trolls, the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham star rocked a powder blue lehenga, with an embellished choker, completing the look by clutching a bucket bag.

While sister Karisma went for a white and gold patterned sari.

Shah Rukh Khan looked seriously dapper in a white sherwani, with wife Gauri coordinating in a light sari.

Abhishek Bachchan proved the fashion stakes are high in the family, going for a peach and white shirt, with white trousers.

And it’s not just Bollywood A-listers who managed to bag an invite, with Tony Blair and his wife, Cherie, posing for pictures in front of a floral backdrop in Mumbai.

The former Prime Minister donned a black suit for the wedding celebrations, while Cherie went for an intricate, light peach lehenga.

Is this the most glamorous wedding yet?

We’re not all that surprised as every event leading up to Akash, 28, and 28-year-old Shloka’s big day has been a spectacle.

The lovebirds – who got engaged last year – jetted their nearest and dearest to Switzerland for a pre-wedding party, where Coldplay and the Chainsmokers got on the stage to belt a few songs out.

Still, it’ll take a lot to beat Akash’s sister Isha’s nuptials last year, after queen Beyonce herself popped in to perform.

We guess our invite got lost in the post…

When and how to watch Melodifestivalen 2019 – Find out Sweden’s Eurovision entry

Melodifestivalen 2019, the 59th edition of the Swedish music competition, is almost here.

That means that Sweden is mere hours away from choosing its Eurovision entry for this year.

Since Sweden is one of the most successful competing countries in Eurovision history – second only to Ireland with six wins under its belt – that’s no small thing for Eurovision fans, especially considering that one of the earlier winners of Melodifestivalen was ABBA in 1974 with one of their many world-wide super-hits, Waterloo.

Here’s everything you need to know about Melodifestivalen 2019, including who’s competing and how to tune in from the UK.

What is Melodifestivalen?

Melodifestivalen, which translates to ‘The Melody Festival’ in English, is the music competition through which Sweden decides its Eurovision entry for the year.

The competition has happened almost every year since 1958, and has produced all six of Sweden’s Eurovision winners, as well as 24 of Sweden’s top five placings.

The phrase ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ can’t help but spring to mind.

Since the festival first began, the winner has been chosen by a panel of judges, and since 1999, there’s also a telephone vote that takes place for the Swedish public to vote. Both of these factors have an equal influence in choosing the winner.

Jordan Peele dubbed ‘modern day Hitchcock’ as first reviews for Us roll in

Things aren’t as they seem in Us

Jordan Peele has been dubbed the ‘modern day Hitchcock’ as early reviews for Us describe the flick as a ‘horror masterpiece’.

We couldn’t be more ready.

The reviews from the screening for the Get Out director’s latest project are in, and it’s safe to say viewers are obsessed.

The movie, which stars Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Shahadi Wright Joseph as members of the Wilson family, is said to ‘fray your nerves with exacting precision, ambitious original ideas, and moments that will traumatize.’

Sounds perfectly terrifying.

Plus, one viewer added: ‘Lupita. Is. INCREDIBLE.’

We don’t doubt it for a second.

Another lucky attendee of the screening claimed: ‘Jordan Peele did something amazing. #UsMovie is another film you have to see multiple times. Like what the hell. Can’t wait until it’s in theaters March 22!’

Another critic hailed the horror flick as ‘@JordanPeele’s definitive love letter to the Horror genre. The lovable family, the terrifying slashers, the spine-tingling score, the buckets of blood, and most importantly a hell of an experience that will put a permanent grin on your terrified face.’

Summing up the general mood, another simply described it as ‘fucking terrifying.’

Okay, we’re in.

Following an unsuspecting family who take a trip to the beach, the trailer showed the movie taking a twisted turn when some disturbing uninvited guests appear.

To make everything that extra bit creepy, the strangers end up being versions of the Wilson family themselves.

It’s all in line with the running thread and message of Us, which is that: ‘We are our own worst enemies’.

‘I’m also trying to design a film that’s very personal for every individual,’ Peele said at the screening, according to Entertainment Weekly.

‘On the broader strokes of things, this movie is about this country,’ he said. ‘When I decided to write this movie I was stricken by the fact that we’re in a time where we fear The Other — whether it’s the mysterious invader we think is going to come and kill us or take our jobs, or the faction we don’t live near that voted a different way than us.

‘We’re all about pointing the finger. I wanted to suggest maybe the monster we really need to look at has our face. Maybe the evil is us.’

The Division 2 has huge 90GB day one patch for PS4

The Division 2 - what side of the fence do you stand?
You might have a long wait to play The Division 2 (Picture: Ubisoft)

PlayStation 4 owners anticipating The Division 2’s release next week might want to clear some hard drive space, as the game’s day one update could be a weighty 90GB.

Ubisoft has outlined the space requirements on a new official support page, explaining how even those who have purchased the PS4 physical version can expect a 88-92GB download on 15 March.

The page explains: ‘If you purchased a physical copy of the game, begin installing from the disc. Provided you are online, your console will simultaneously download Title Update 1 while you install it.’

They state the final HDD install size for both physical and digital editions of The Division 2 is 88-92GB, so it sounds like you’re essentially downloading the whole game either way.

The Division 2 is hoping to consume all your time (Picture: Ubisoft)

Confusing matters though is a previous support page, which states the day one patch is 48-52GB for physical versions on PS4, while the final full size is 88-92GB. GameCentral has reached out to Ubisoft for clarification.

The 48-52GB patch size matches the requirements for Xbox One and PC versions of the game, which would make more sense. Otherwise the PS4 day one update is, bizarrely, nearly double the size.

Either way, it’s a huge day one patch download. The closest in recent memory is perhaps Call Of Duty Black Ops 4, which required a 50GB day one update.

The Division 2 releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 15 March.

Game Of Thrones star Oona Chaplin ‘bawling’ when she got ‘stabbed’ during Red Wedding

Game Of Thrones’ Oona Chaplin ‘bawling’ when she got ‘stabbed’ during Red Wedding (Picture: HBO)

We all remember the Red Wedding in Game Of Thrones, which saw the savage murder of both Robb Stark and his pregnant wife Talisa.

While Lord Walder raised a toast to Robb (played by Richard Madden), his mother Catelyn was quickly figuring out that they’d been duped.

But it was too late and the gathering turned into chaotic scenes after Lothar Frey repeatedly stabbed the soon-to-be-mother in the stomach.

Not only did this kill her unborn child, but the wounds were fatal, and while Robb held his dying wife in his arms, he too was brutally murdered by Roose Bolton.

Despite the cast putting on their cast acting their way through the scene, it turns out their tears were real, as Talisa star Oona Chaplin recalled being told to stop crying.

When chatting to Entertainment Weekly, the 32-year-old spoke about how she couldn’t help but sob during her death scene.

She told the publication: ‘I was actually crying while I was dead. The director had to come over: “Oona, you need to stop crying, dead people don’t cry. You’re dead, just be dead.”’

Showrunner David Benioff added: ‘I remember turning to the to the script supervisor after one take where Richard was dying and I was like, “That was a good take.” And she was just bawling.

‘It’s a bittersweet thing. You’re making all these people sad. But on the other hand, that’s kind of the idea.’

He continued: ‘If we shot The Red Wedding and nobody got emotional, it would be a failure.’

She spoke about how she couldn’t help but sob during her death scene (Picture: HBO)

And it seems she wasn’t the only one who couldn’t control her emotions, as director David Nutter revealed the hair and makeup team were also in tears.

He said: ‘I remember hearing people crying, and it was the hair and makeup people. I thought, “If we can make ourselves feel something while making it, then this will translate.”’

Both Richard and Oona’s GOT journey may have come to an end, but the remaining characters still have a whole season to go.

The trailer for the final season was launched on Tuesday, providing a first real glimpse at what fans can expect when the show returns in late April.

And according to HBO, the anticipation is real because it was viewed an incredible 81 million times across all platforms (including YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter).

Game Of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on 15 April.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s cast (Picture: NBC)

Brooklyn Nine Nine’s sixth season is currently underway in the US, and news also broke recently that it was also due to be renewed for a seventh.

The show has become something of a classic, with the comedy stylings of Andy Samberg and Chelsea Peretti amassing a huge following.

You may have seen some of the re-runs on your TV, but if you’re totally new to the show, here’s everything you need to know.

Plot and cast

The sitcom follows the staff at a Brooklyn Police Precinct (99), and was created by Dan Goor and Micheal Schur.

Jake Peralta is one of the main characters (a goofy detective who’s also great at solving crimes), and one of the ongoing plot points is him clashing with strict boss Captain Raymond Holt.

Amy Santiago is the uptight, nerdy detective who’d rather suck up to Holt than go along with Jake’s jokes, while Charles Boyle is the foodie best friend happy to tag along with anything.

American Gods: Season two release date, trailer, cast, synopsis and where to watch in the UK

Ian Mcshane and Ricky whittle as their characters in American Gods season 2
Shadow Moon and Mr Wednesday are back for season two (Picture: Starz)

After ‘turmoil’ behind the scenes of American Gods, we’re finally getting a second season.

We’ve made it through nearly two years of waiting, with nothing but a tantalising glimpse of the first three minutes of season two to tide us over.

Now, after all that waiting, season two of American Gods is dropping at last.

If you’re looking for more information about the second season before it hits the UK, then you’re in the right place, because we’ve got what you need to know right here…

What is American Gods about?

American Gods is based on the Neil Gaiman fantasy novel of the same name, and follows Shadow Moon as he’s released from prison, still reeling from his wife’s death, and meets a mysterious man called Mr. Wednesday.

Shadow begins to work as Mr. Wednesday’s bodyguard, and is thus drawn into a world of magic and Gods.

A synopsis, which was released along with the season two trailer, reads: ‘The battle between Old Gods and New Gods continues to brew as we join Mr. Wednesday just a few short hours after his declaration of war and the epic showdown that ensued at Easter’s party.

‘While Mr. World plans revenge for Wednesday’s attack and Technical Boy searches for Media, Mr. Wednesday continues his quest to pitch the case for war to the Old Gods with Shadow.

Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow, Shadow begins to understand this strange world of the gods and carve out a place in it as a believer, but it is far from a straight path.’

American Gods season two trailer

Who’s in the cast of American Gods season two?

  • Ricky Whittle plays Shadow Moon
  • Emily Browning plays Laura Moon
  • Crispin Glover plays Mr. World
  • Ian McShane plays Mr. Wednesday
  • Bruce Langley as Technical Boy
  • Yetide Badaki as Bilquis
  • Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeney

There has been some trouble behind the scenes of the show since season one, with showrunners Michael Green and Bryan Fuller replaced by Lost writer Jesse Alexander after it was released.

In a now-deleted tweet, Fuller said: ‘Me and [Green] never abandoned American Gods.

‘We were dedicated to cast, crafted the season, wrote five episodes, even had Media as Mr Rogers & Princess Leia.

‘We were in the process of reducing scope due to a dramatic budget reduction when we were fired.’

Not only that, but Gillian Anderson, who also appeared in season one as New Goddess Media, won’t be reprising her role.

Instead, South Korean actress Kahyun Kim will be playing the redefined character of New Media.

Even so, former Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle is confident that the show will make it to season three, saying: ‘For sure, there’s so much potential.

‘The books are a fantastic blueprint for a TV show,’ adding, ‘We’ve got the best TV ensemble I’ve ever seen.’

When is season two of American Gods out, and how can we watch it?

You won’t have to wait long – American Gods season two will hit Netflix on Sunday 10 March.

iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy bravely reveals 13-year battle with eating disorders: ‘I measured my thighs every night’

Jennette McCurdy has bravely opened up about her battle with eating disorders.

The iCarly star, 26, revealed she struggled with bulimia and anorexia since she was just 11-years-old, explaining her mum encouraged her to keep track of her weight.

However, she is adamant she doesn’t blame her mum for any of what happened, who also struggled with disordered eating.

‘As a child actress working in Hollywood, I quickly learned that remaining physically small for my age meant I had a better chance of booking more roles,’ she began an open letter for Huffington Post. ‘Unfortunately, I had a trusty and dedicated companion ready to help me with my burgeoning anorexia: my mum!’

Jennette struggled with eating disorders from when she was around 11-years-old (Picture: WireImage)

‘I don’t hold this against my mum at all. I don’t think she could help it. Mum had been hospitalized for anorexia on several occasions when she was a teenager and I’m not convinced she ever overcame her disordered eating.’

Jennette explained her mum would ‘regularly compare her size to other girls’, and would count calories and portion out her meals. She assumed this was her way of ‘looking out’, but now realises she was ‘aiding her disordered eating’.

After landing the part of Sam Puckett on iCarly in 2007 – and later starring in spin-off Sam & Cat with Ariana Grande – she revealed things got worse, and the actress began to obsess over the way she looked.

‘The stress of having to be “on” all the time got to me. I became even more fixated on food and my body,’ she continued. ‘I monitored every bite I took. I exercised obsessively.

‘I measured my thighs with a measuring tape every night before bed.’

Jennette starred alongside Ariana Grande in her iCarly spin-off show (Picture: WireImage)

A few years later, she received heartbreaking news when her mum was diagnosed with cancer as the show was taking off.

‘I had a record deal with a fancy record label, mum was dying, and I just couldn’t handle the pressures of everything happening around me. But this time, instead of turning away from food, I turned to food. Lots and lots of food,’ she said.

‘And so began my binge eating phase. I still tracked, calculated and obsessed about every single thing that went into my mouth, just the same as when I had anorexia. The only difference was that I was eating a lot more.

‘I was constantly preoccupied with food. Nothing meant more to me than my next bite and nothing gave me more shame than my last one. I was in a toxic, self-loathing cycle.’

Speaking about her experience with bulimia, she confessed she felt ‘thrilled’ at the thought of eating whatever she wanted and ‘throwing it right back up’ to avoid gaining weight, describing it as the ‘best of both worlds’.

Jennette was elated with her bulimia at first (Picture: FilmMagic)

This elation turned to shame when she compared her disorder to that of others in the industry, with Jennette left feeling like she ‘wasn’t good enough at disordered eating’.

‘I’d analyse my bulimia and feel terrible. I told myself that if I were better at this, if I were truly committed, I would just be able to not eat,’ she wrote. ‘I was convinced that bulimia was nothing more than poor man’s anorexia. What kind of hack was I?

‘Inevitably, the shame snowballed and so did the bulimia. Before I knew it, I was having five, six or seven purging sessions a day. By definition of the disorder, I was truly succeeding. And yet my bulimia always felt like a failure ― like I was coming up short of what a true disordered eater could (and should) accomplish.’

Her ‘hellish spiral’ continued for three more years, but during this time she was never called up on her ‘obvious destructive behaviour’ by those around her – until her sister-in-law told her she needed help.

But it still took her years to come to terms with her eating disorder – losing a tooth from stomach fluids and passing out on a friend’s floor in the process.

At 23-years-old, she went into treatment for a second time, describing the recovery as a ‘brutal’ process that left her ‘falling into a dark hole of depression’, and relapsing ‘several times’.

‘Since so much of my identity had been built around the framework of disordered eating, I literally had to relearn how to think in order to rebuild my identity, which was as painstaking and uncomfortable as it sounds,’ she added.

‘The important thing was getting back on the recovery program anytime I had a slip so that, as they say in recovery, “the slip doesn’t become a slide.”

‘And so far, the slips haven’t become slides. Anytime I’ve had a slip, I’ve gotten back on my program. It’s been two years and I’m doing well, recovering and moving forward. I still get eating disorder urges, compulsions and occasional fantasies.

‘I still hear that old eating disorder voice, but luckily I hear it less and less often. And when I do hear it, I now have the tools to muffle it.’

If you think you may be suffering with binge eating disorder, contact your GP to talk about your symptoms and to seek help.

You can also visit Beat at www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk, and contact their helpline on 0808 805 0677.

Kim Kardashian can’t wait to hear what tea gets spilled between her daughter Chicago and her niece True.

The mother-of-three shared an adorable picture of the tots to her 60million Twitter followers.

In the snap, the cute pair can be seen sat on the floor as they giggled away to each other.

True looked as though she was giving her cousin the low down on some serious goss that had just happened in the family.

And well Chicago couldn’t control her emotions as she put her hand over her little mouth in pure shock at what her BFF had just said.

Fans joked they were gossiping about Jordyn Woods (Picture: @KimKardashian)

Writing to her fans, the proud mumma said: ‘I can’t wait to hear what they talk about lol.’

Setting off a string of suggestions, someone replied to Kim: ‘We have the best moms,’ while others couldn’t help but joke they were chatting about the Jordyn Woods drama.

‘Girl my daddy cheated again on mom.. Chicago acts shocked,’ another commented – with so many others issuing the same sentiment.

The famous family made headlines earlier this month when their close friend Jordyn was accused of sleeping with Khloe’s baby daddy Tristan Thompson.

When appearing on Red Table Talk, the model revealed her side of the story, where she denied hooking up with the basketball player.

Jordyn was accused of cheating with Khloe’s beau Tristan Thompson (Picture: Getty; Red Table Talk)

She said: ‘There has been no relationship over time. There’s been no relationship, no communication, no plans on meeting up, no conversation. Nothing.

‘I see what has been done to my life in only a week. The media put their focus on a young black woman that made a mistake and not one that’s worth public crucifixion.’

But it seems True’s mum didn’t believe a word she was saying and lashed out on Twitter – calling the 21-year-old a liar.

The reality star said: ‘Why are you lying @jordynwoods ??

‘If you’re going to try and save yourself by going public, INSTEAD OF CALLING ME PRIVATELY TO APOLOGIZE FIRST, at least be HONEST about your story.’

She added: ‘BTW, You ARE the reason my family broke up!’

Since then, the mother-of-one has back tracked on her words where she place the blame on Tristan.

Cheryl Tweedy has admitted she has no intention of ever taking part on Strictly Come Dancing.

But never say never.

The singer has gone from being judged on Pop Idol to being the judge on The X Factor and The Greatest Dancer so it makes sense to not go back – and the 35-year-old has said that as she has got older she ‘realised you should never say never’.

‘I just wouldn’t put myself through that, the every week judgement thing,’ she told the Daily Star.

She would make a natural fit, as she is working with the BBC now on The Greatest Dancer, where one of her co-captains is Strictly professional Oti Mabuse.

Still, Cheryl has been focusing on her music and work on dancing show in recent weeks – and slaying her performances with the Strictly pros.

The BBC show roped in the dance captains for an electric performance that saw Cheryl, Oti and co-captain Matthew Morrison join the Strictly professionals on stage.

Cheryl got a chance to bust a move with Pasha Kovalev while Oti and Matthew took to the floor together as part of the powerful routine.

T-Series gains support from Anil Kapoor as channel overtakes PewDiePie in YouTube subscribers

Is it the end of the road for PewDiePie? (Picture: Michael Tran/FilmMagic)

Anil Kapoor is just one of the Indian actors and musicians supporting T-Series as the music label briefly overtook PewDiePie in subscribers to become YouTube’s most subscribed channel.

Is this the end of the road for PewDiePie?

After Bhushan Kumar, Managing Director of T-Series, put out a message urging fans to subscribe to the channel, reasoning ‘We can make India win,’ Indian celebs have come out in their droves to support the cause.

Judaai star Anil Kapoor is one of the actors to speak out for the label, tweeting a video with the caption: ‘What are you waiting for? Subscribe now!’

‘Attention, attention, attention!’ he said in the video. ‘India’s very own YouTube channel is on the verge of becoming the world’s number one YouTube channel. So put all your hearts into winning this. All you have to do is subscribe to T-Series on YouTube.’

Musician Adnan Sami also supported the label, writing: ‘I’m so proud of the association that T-Series & I have shared- see the albums below! It’s so exciting 2 know that @Tseries, is becoming the biggest YouTube channel in the world! Congratulations @itsBhushanKumar! U must subscribe 2 ensure #BharatWinsYouTube.’

Felix has held the top spot since 2013 (Picture: pewdiepie)

‘You can make India win!’ director Divya Khosla Kumar added. ‘Subscribe to @TSeries & make it the world’s biggest YouTube channel.’

And their efforts appear to be working, with T-Series briefly overtaking the Swedish gamer in subscribers on Saturday afternoon (9 March). Although the frontrunner is now jumping back and forth.

T-Series has been battling PewDiePie for the top spot since November, at around the 67 million mark. Both channels now boast more than 88 million.

However, while the gamer’s fans and friends created a huge campaign headed up by American YouTube star Mr Beast, including buying billboards and radio adverts, the record label largely stayed quiet – until this week.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Managing Director Bhushan ramped up the fight with a video posted to his social media, posing a real threat to the Felix’s YouTube crown, which he’s been holding on to since 2013.

It’s the first time the music label have gone in all guns blazing to take the top spot and, with PewDiePie fans scrambling to keep it at bay, its efforts seem to be working.

YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul have reignited their fierce feud and it’s got pretty personal.

We’ll just be over here with the popcorn.

The pair, who have been planning a rematch for their boxing match which resulted in a draw, have gone back to hurling insults at each other over social media.

Standard.

It all kicked off again when Logan tweeted: ‘I’d bet money that KSI is gonna try to skurt the rematch.’

After mocking each other’s view counts, with KSI – real name Olajide ‘JJ’ Olatunji – arguing that the 23-year-old can no longer ‘break 2 million views’, things started to get personal.

‘The people don’t care about you anymore. You’re washed up. A has been,’ KSI tweeted. ‘You’re the suicide forest boy, and that’s all you’ll ever be. Step aside.’

The American vlogger hit back: ‘Aren’t you on your fifth abortion g? crazy theory but: life is about more than views… sometimes it’s about… ya know… life ?’

‘Chloe [Bennet] dumped you and tfue stole your next girl,’ KSI fired back. ‘You believe the earth is flat. You keep calling me a dweeb thinking it’s insulting me but it makes you look 12. I’m just giving you a taste of your own medicine. Now that you ain’t shit, “life is about more than views”.’

The 23-year-old wasn’t having any of it, making a dig at the 25-year-old’s feud with his brother Deji: ‘Your family abandoned you on christmas cuz you’re a dickhead. you’re hiding a girlfriend. you broke the two-fight contract. and you talk like a super saiyan. so yeah, keep dodging dweeb.’

The spat ended with KSI tweeting Logan’s brother Jake to say: ‘Anyway, @jakepaul you want the main event? You got it. Lets see how “trash” I really am…’

It was a lot to unpack.

The pair took to the boxing ring back in August of last year (although it seems like a lifetime ago), with their younger brothers fighting at the undercard.

Although Jake triumphed over Deji, Logan and JJ’s fight was declared a draw, with both demanding a rematch.

Whether it’ll actually happen, only time will tell.
