Jeremy Clarkson is a changed man. The Grand Tour presenter has announced he’s taking a break from trashing cars and wreaking havoc with Richard Hammond and James May to enlighten fans on the highs and lows of farming in a new series for Amazon Prime.

The 59-year-old has taken a drastic U-turn for I Bought A Farm after notoriously disregarding concerns for the environment to front an agricultural programme urging viewers to acknowledge dwindling food supplies with an inside look at his life as a proud farmer.

The former Top Gear presenter, who lives on an enormous 1,000 acre Chipping Norton farm, will kick off filming the show, which he insisted will be much more graphic than Countryfile, in September.

‘This is not Kate Humble – much as I like Kate Humble – with 20 acres, bottle-feeding a lamb. Or a TV presenter who grows veg in his back garden This is actual farming: Life, death and form filling,’ he told the Sunday Times.

‘We’re not making Countryfile. We’ll be showing it warts and all. For example, I have no view on badger culling in terms of whether it’s necessary, but if it’s happening we will not shy away from putting it in the programme.’

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx5EOWNAvc7/

Clarkson admitted farm life has made him more ‘carbon-neutral’ after once mocking ‘eco-fools’ and defending 4X4s from critics of the wealthy.

These days, the motor-head’s biggest concern is food supply shortages.

‘Scientists calculate we have just 90 years before we run out of food, because of soil depletion. That’s just 90 more harvests,’ he added.

Hammond and May have also confirmed their next solo steps away from The Grand Tour.

James May was the first to branch out from The Grand Tour with Our Man in Japan (Picture: Amazon Prime)

Our Man… In Japan with May is already well into production while Hammond’s ironically titled Richard Hammond’s Big was announced by Discovery Channel last month.

The Grand Tour, however, will return to Amazon Prime but without its studio audience for the first time with revamped, perilous road trips.

Clarkson confirmed he’s been hard at work on the next series but the team have already faced problems sourcing locations and had to scrap plans over terrorist threats.

The Grand Tour is expected to return on Amazon Prime in 2020.

Rocketman sex and drugs scenes almost left out for PG-13 rating – but Elton John ‘didn’t have PG-13 life’

Rocketman is a colourful exploration of Elton John’s path to stardom – and naturally, sex and drugs play a big part.

But in the hands of the wrong studio, Elton may have been portrayed as more of a saint.

The Tiny Dancer singer admits that he had to fight for the more adult themes of his life to be portrayed in the biopic, claiming that some studios wanted to leave out sex and drugs in favour of a more lenient rating.

Writing for The Guardian, Elton, 72, said: ‘Some studios wanted to tone down the sex and drugs so the film would get a PG-13 rating. But I just haven’t led a PG-13 rated life.

‘I didn’t want a film packed with drugs and sex, but equally, everyone knows I had quite a lot of both during the 70s and 80s, so there didn’t seem to be much point in making a movie that implied that after every gig, I’d quietly gone back to my hotel room with only a glass of warm milk and the Gideon’s Bible for company.’

In the end, Elton won out, and drugs and sex are included in the 15-rated film – including a gay sex scene portraying the legendary musician losing his virginity.

He added that he didn’t find it difficult to watch the scenes in Rocketman in which he discovered cocaine, writing: ‘They’re truthful and, unlike my childhood, it was my own fault. No one forced me to do drugs and drink. In fact, more than a few people tried to warn me I was out of control.

‘It took a fairly Herculean effort to get yourself noticed for taking too much cocaine in the music industry of 1970s LA, but I was clearly prepared to put the hours in.’

Elton is played by Taron Egerton in Rocketman, directed by Dexter Fletcher, with Elton’s darkest moments weaved in with more fantastical elements.

Perhaps the darkest moment shown is Elton’s suicide attempt in 1975, with his on-screen persona shown trying to take his own life at a house party attended by his family members.

The harrowing incident was recounted in Elizabeth Rosenthal’s 2004 biography His Song: The Musical Journey of Elton John.

Elizabeth wrote that Elton announced he had taken pills, and: ‘He threw himself into the water, then struggled to come to the surface. [Guitarist] Caleb Quaye later remembered the arrival of an emergency medical team to pump the pianist’s stomach.’

Opening up on his downward spiral, Elton told The Telegraph in 2010: ‘It was stress.

‘I’d been working nonstop for five years. But it was typical me. There was no way I was going to kill myself doing that. And, of course, my grandmother came out with the perfect line: “I suppose we’ve all got to go home now”.’

Rocketman is in UK cinemas now.

Jodie Comer has admitted that she initially worried about playing female assassin Villanelle in the hit BBC series Killing Eve over how much she’d have to be naked.

The 26-year-old actress, who revealed she doesn’t get approached by men since she started playing the character, confessed she originally feared her part in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s adapted drama because of the costumes – or lack of.

In an interview for GQ HYPE, Jodie confessed how she reacted after first hearing she’d landed Villanelle and recalled: ‘I was like, “Oh, f*** no.” Because I always think of someone in a leather catsuit and six-inch heels scaling walls.

‘Also, How naked is she going to be? I should have known better, knowing Phoebe was the writer.’

Jodie has a great admiration for showrunner Phoebe, who also masterminded the BBC Three comedy Fleabag.

‘I love her so much,’ she enthused.

‘I’ve said to her she has to cast me on every single thing she makes from now on. Otherwise I’ll send Villanelle!’

Villanelle has become somewhat of a fashion icon since the show first premiered last year.

While Metro.co.uk delved deep into the villain’s wardrobe, Jodie revealed that she watched on in horror as Eve (played by Sandra Oh) threw her clothes to the floor in the series one finale.

‘I was being really precious about them getting dirty on the floor,’ she said. ‘I was like, “No!”‘

Bearded lady uses facial hair to her advantage as she fights back at death threats: ‘It’s my star feature’

A bearded lady has fought back at haters by making her facial hair her ‘star feature’ after receiving death threats online.

Little Bear Schwarz started to sprout hair from her chin at the age of 14, due to having polycystic ovaries.

However, after feeling ‘deep shame’ while going through puberty, she has since learned how to embrace the excessive hair growth.

When appearing on This Morning, the 36-year-old spoke about her condition, and how finding the love of her life helped her overcome those insecurities.

She said: ‘My younger years were difficult, I had this hair and didn’t know what caused it.

‘I shaved it every morning, I would shave my face in the shower there was so much deep shame of having this and having no reason.

‘There was no one saying you could just grow it that was not an option.’

After leaving school, Little Bear moved to Seattle and decided to grow out her beard.

She laughed: ‘I found a flyer advertising a beard competition.

‘So I entered and I won! In a short time I went from shaving to having this thing that felt was like a star feature.’

Talking about finding love, she confessed to writing a Facebook status, asking her friends if, ‘anyone could love this?’

And it seems as though it worked, as her friend of one year Tobias said yes, and they have since tied the knot.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwyD9iQlYWw/

‘I didn’t have a problem finding people to date,’ Little Beard admitted, ‘It’s just I had to make sure it wasn’t someone afraid to be seen with me, or afraid of the stigma.’

‘Tobias, who I had been friends with for a year or so, answered and said he’d be interested.’

Little Bear was joined by her husband live from Seattle, who spoke about their relationship.

‘We’d met a few times because I’d helped her move,’ he explained, ‘I followed her on Facebook and she was always such a genuine, caring, loving person and is very real, she’s not fake.’

‘And this is the kind of person I would like to spend time with.’

When asked about how he supports his wife, Tobias revealed: ‘She has ups and down.

‘She’s positive when things work out well, but there are times when groups of creeps flock to social media and send her death threats, so I have to be supportive.’

The pair are happily married, and spoke about being in a polyamorous relationship.

‘We’re open to dating other people and if we get along with someone they can became part of a relationship for all of us,’ Tobias shared.

‘We have been focusing on us, we’ve just got married and getting everything settled, it make sense to have a good foundation before you open things up.’

Strictly Come Dancing’s Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell FaceTime each other every day.

The couple, who met when they were paired together on the BBC hit dancing show last year, only revealed their romance once the show was over.

But now YouTuber Joe is pretty open about his relationship with the professional dancer.

After working closely together for rehearsals for the live shows last year, and the subsequent tour this year, the pair are struggling to adjust to no longer spending every waking moment together.

Their solution? To FaceTime each other the moment they wake up every morning they are apart.

‘That’s when you know you love each other,’ Joe told the Mirror. ‘When you’re happy to FaceTime each other first thing in the morning. I’m unrecognisable – you should see my hair.’

After last year’s show ended, the lovebirds headed off for a romantic spa break to Arctic Treehouse Hotel in Finland, which Dianne, 30, described as ‘the best weekend ever’.

However, despite the reduced time together, the pair make sure they keep up with their dance routines.

The 27-year-old confessed: ‘Even this morning we had a little bit of foxtrot in the kitchen.’

The duo, who came second in the 2018 series, grew closer every week on TV, which led fans to believe they were already in a relationship by the time the grand finale came around.

Although they refused to confirm their romance during the show, Joe took to Instagram the day after the final episode aired with his own news.

Taking to his caption at the time, he wrote: ‘I finally won a glitterball, but this girl is still a million times more special.’

The maturity! (Picture: Sofia Richie/Instagram)

Say what you want about the Kardashians, but they can be pretty darn mature when it comes to handling awkward situations.

Case in point – partying with your ex and baby daddy and his 20-year-old girlfriend.

Sofia Richie and Kourtney Kardashian proved they’re on good terms as Sofia posted a picture from Scott Disick’s birthday party, cuddling up to her man’s ex and her sister Kylie Jenner.

There’s a lot to unpack here.

Scott celebrated his 36th birthday party with a host of family and friends, including the whole Kardashian clan, and made sure to squeeze into a photo booth with his ex-girlfriend and his current girlfriend.

Sofia shared a number of black and white pictures from the booth to Instagram with the caption: ‘Best night celebrating you @letthelordbewithyou 📌 an amazing soul. we all love you very much.’

And the last photo saw the model flashing a big smile beside her man, while Kylie, 21, flipped the perfectly manicured bird at the camera and Kourtney smiled head on.

While some commented on the totes awks nature of the group shot, most were impressed at how maturely Scott, Kourtney and Sofia were handling their unique situation.

One fan commented: ‘This is a very mature and healthy relationship WE STAN’ while another wrote: ‘I love how they all managed to avoid drama.’

And one of Sofia’s followers joked: ‘You are a very understanding girlfriend.’

Kourtney, 40, and Scott split for good in 2015 after nine years together and three children – Mason, 9, Penelope, 6, and four-year-old Reign.

Two years later, Scott made his relationship with then 19-year-old Sofia official in September 2017, with Sofia’s dad Lionel Richie admitting he was ‘scared to death’ by the age gap romance.

However, two years on and the couple are still going strong – and it seems Scott’s relationship with his baby mama was a bit of a deal-breaker.

On an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Lord Disick said: ‘I mean, Sofia knew going into this that I was extremely close with Kourtney. She was like, “Listen, I will never get between you and your family and your children. Just speak to me and make me comfortable”.’

And in her recent interview with Paper magazine, Kourtney said that she is proud of how they handle their situation, saying it’s ‘probably the thing I’m most proud of’.

The trio have even gone on holiday with Mason, Penelope and Reign, with Kourtney saying: ‘I don’t think we’ll go on every trip together, but I love that I’m invited.’

And there’s us, ducking every time we see our ex in public.

The dark secrets of The Jeremy Kyle Show exposed for Dispatches: From encouraged drug-taking to backstage prison-like conditions

The Jeremy Kyle Show
More dark secrets from The Jeremy Kyle Show exposed in Dispatches investigation (Picture: ITV)

The Jeremy Kyle Show guests smoked drugs with producers and were fed alcohol before going on stage, a Dispatches investigation has claimed.

The hard-hitting Channel 4 series will be airing a special devoted to the axed chat show tonight, which was suddenly cancelled following the death of Steve Dymond, 62.

Dispatches spoke to several high-level members of staff and guests who have come forward to slam The Jeremy Kyle Show’s aftercare, alleging it was non-existent.

An anonymous producer told reporter Morland Sanders how guests with drug abuse problems were often encouraged to visit their dealer, with expenses paid for by production, before coming on air.

‘Researchers and APs and sometimes producers would smoke weed with guests in the hotels the day before to keep them happy. If guests were becoming flakey they’d appease them in any way they could,’ they said.

‘There was a contributor who was a drug addict and had since stopped taking drugs and cleaned their act up. But in actual fact the show wanted them to be on drugs, because there was no ‘story’ without it. One of the producers was asked “get that person to take drugs again” and at one point was asked “leave money lying around on a table so they will take that money and go and buy drugs with it”.’

They continued: ‘The guests were treated like cattle. Behind the scenes they created a kind of maze. It’s so if the guests run off the stage it’s a controlled environment. The cameraman knows where to go. The guest won’t be able to find their way out because it all looks the same.’

Another unnamed producer who worked on The Jeremy Kyle Show when it launched in 2005 said staff were instructed to use a technique called Talking Up, which was essentially antagonising guests before they faced Kyle.

‘All the new staff that were on the show got taken to a big meeting, and we were taught, about this process that they used on the show called “Talking Up” which I’d not come across before, essentially ‘cause the show is about conflict resolution, you need the people that come on the show to be in conflict when you get on… when they’re on the show,’ they explained.

‘So, it was about developing a rapport with somebody, and then using that rapport to wind them up, …Before I watched… before I started on the show, when I was just watching it as a viewer, you kind of assume that the people who act like that on the show are just normally like that, and they must just be like that in their normal life, and I think working on the show you sort of realise that … they’ve been produced to be that way.’

Another member of production said he often saw cans of lager being taken to contributors backstage, heading to dressing rooms, which they were told was for ‘medicinal purposes’ to keep alcoholics ‘topped up’.

Stacey Talley, a guest who appeared on the programme last May, claimed she was sent home without any aftercare despite precious struggles with depression.

‘I’ve tried to take my life before, they already knew that,’ she told Sanders. ‘So they knew I was vulnerable before I even went there. I was like, “I can’t do this, my anxiety’s so bad. Like just tell Les that I don’t want to do it, I’m sorry, I can’t do it.” And they was like… well basically as soon as you sign that contract that is it – the control is out of your hands then. You’re screwed, you’re going on that show.’

Dwayne Davison, who was dubbed the most hated Jeremy Kyle Show guest ever, told Dispatches he was locked away in a room for 10 hours without a phone or means to contact his partner.

‘They’re trying to get you in a position where – where you – where you’re very tense, you know,’ he said.

An ITV spokesperson has denied all the allegations.

‘ITV has many years of experience broadcasting and creating programmes featuring members of the public, and each of our productions has duty of care measures in place for contributors. All of our processes are regularly reviewed to ensure that they are fit for purpose in an ever-changing landscape.

‘In the case of the Jeremy Kyle Show, the programme had significant and detailed duty of care processes in place for contributors built up over 14 years, and there have been numerous positive outcomes from this series, where people have resolved long-standing personal problems,’ the channel stressed.

‘Guests were supported by our guest welfare team prior to filming, throughout filming and after filming. Should they require ongoing help then appropriate solutions were found for them. This could include residential rehabilitation, counselling, anger management, family mediation, child access mediation or couples counselling.’

Debunking Talley’s claims she was never offered any aftercare, ITV continued: ‘Our records show that relationship counselling was offered to both Stacey and her partner but that as he refused to attend, it could not be provided. Both Stacey and her partner were aware that the relationship counselling service would continue to be on offer, should he change his mind.

‘All guests are contacted within 24 hours of a recording so we were aware of Stacey’s suicide attempt and organised some counselling sessions for her.’

Hitting back at Davison’s allegations he was locked in a private room, a spokesperson added: ‘No one is ever locked in a dressing room and no guest has been in a dressing room for 10 hours. Guests are brought to the studio approximately three hours before a recording.

‘If Dwayne had told the production team about his mental health problems after appearing twice on the programme, steps would have been taken to remove clips from our YouTube channel and to not repeat the programmes.’

Couple who met at 16 and 44 defend relationship on Age Gap Love

A couple who met at 16 and 44 have defended their relationship on new Channel 5 series Age Gap Love.

Beth couldn’t legally drink alcohol when she met her other half, but she’s since married her older man and shares two children with him.

‘The age gap doesn’t really bother me,’ Beth told the cameras as she addressed their 28-year difference.

‘It never has done. I don’t see him as an old man or my dad, or anything like that.

‘He’s just sensitive. Like a big teddy bear.’

‘I was concerned what people would think,’ Andy said. ’16, 44, it’s a big gap. It’s a generation gap, sort of thing. So it’s like what are people going to think?’

‘We were all like one happy family,’ he admitted. ‘But needless to say, I didn’t know that Beth was getting these thoughts that she wanted to me to be her happy man forever sort of thing. You know?’

It wasn’t until Beth reached the age of 16 that the duo discussed taking their friendship to the next level.

Now they’re in love, Andy is on a mission to give Beth everything she wants.

The couple have been together three years and share two sons between them, Timmy, two, and Conway, one.

‘I’ve always wanted to make a family or to have a family,’ Beth confessed. ‘So I just thought Andy would be the perfect man to do so.’

Kim Kardashian’s kids steal the show with performance at Kanye West’s Sunday service

Kim Kardashian’s children grab the limelight with a cover of Nothing Compare 2 U at Kanye West’s Sunday service.

North West, five, and her brother Saint, three took to centre stage for a children’s choir performance on Sunday in Calabasas, California.

The pair were joined by their cousin Penelope Disick, six, and a crowd of other children, for their rendition of Sinead O’Connor’s 1990 hit Nothing Compares 2 U, originally written by the late Prince.

The three young members of the Kardashian family were dressed in the typical neutral hues worn at Kanye’s church – yes, the rapper has some kind of uniform for the congregation – and melted hearts as they sang their little voices out.

The middle child of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick stood with her cousins in the captured by rapper Big Sean.

North is clearer her parents’ child as she’s been it’s not the first time she’s been commanding attention with her dancing and singing on the sidelines.

We kid but, what else would a Kanye sermon consist of?

There’s clearly something drawing all corners of Hollywood to Kanye’s mysterious ‘services’, with the likes of Paris Jackson, Rick Rubin, Kylie Jenner, Kid Cudi and Diplo attending from time to time.

Kanye’s church has gone so far that he was able to host a public church service at Coachella fittingly on Easter Sunday.

After four months of hosting private Sunday Services for his celebrity friends around Los Angeles, Kanye finally invited the public into his church albeit through a peephole.

With celebrity guests including Justin Bieber, Hailey Baldwin and Idris Elba, Kim Kardashian was on-hand to support with her famous siblings.

In addition to playing orchestral versions of his hit singles on the mountaintop, Kanye, 41, treated the Coachella crowd to a first listen of his new song Water.

The gospel-inspired song features the lyrics: ‘Let your light reflect on me. Take the glory, not our conversation/ I know I might not be as perfect as Christ, But we’re made up of 90 percent water. We are water.’

At one point, Kanye ad-libbed: ‘Clean us like the rain of spring.

The track also included the lines: ‘Let your light reflect on me, I promise I’m not hiding anything, it’s water.

‘We’ll get through it, because of your love/ Even when we crash just like water.’

Water is expected to appear on Kanye’s ever elusive forthcoming album, Yandhi, but considering the amount of delays the record’s had in the past two years, it’s probably best not to get your hopes up on that.

The first time they took to the stage, the girls could be seen performing a powerful dance that was all about female empowerment and women’s rights.

And now, the much anticipated act have explained how there will be yet another theme in tonight’s show.

When chatting to Kem Cetinay on This Morning, the girls opened up on the hidden meaning and revealed they will be addressing both the positives and negatives to social media.

Sounds like it’s going to be interesting.

They told the Love Island star: ‘We’re so excited a little bit nervous but that’s good nerves…’

The couple appeared on Lorraine today where Rosie revealed she’s packed in her job to give absolutely everything she has to the competition.

Star Trek: Picard wraps up production on first episodes after trailer is a huge hit with fans

Star Trek: Picard has officially wrapped the first two episodes of the forthcoming Patrick Stewart spin-off.

Confirmation that the show is well into production comes just days after CBS dropped the incredible trailer, which sees the legendary actor return as Captain Jean-Luc Picard after 17 long years off our screens.

The opening two installments have been directed by Hanelle Culpepper and she makes Star Trek history as the first woman to open a series in the franchise’s 53-year history.

Hanelle is no stranger to the universe though, having made her directing debut in season one episode Vaulting Ambition.

Speaking about her involvement in Picard, showrunner Alex Kurtzman enthused: ‘Hanelle is a gifted and dynamic filmmaker whose directorial choices are always deeply rooted in character.

‘I’ve been a fan of her work since she started with us on Discovery, and she’s the perfect person to re-introduce the beloved character of Picard to longtime fans and new viewers alike.’

He added: ‘We’re thrilled she’s joining our Trek family on this next adventure.’

Hanelle announced the news that her work on the series is now over, telling fans on Twitter:  ‘I’ve wrapped and @jonathansfrakes is filming his block now.’

Details of the plot for the spin-off still remain firmly under wraps, but Patrick teased what to expect to an audience in Las Vegas.

‘He may not – and I stress, may not – be a captain anymore, he may not be the Jean-Luc that you recognise and know so well,’ Patrick began.

‘It may be a very different individual, someone who has been changed by his experiences. 20 years will have passed, which is more or less the time between the very last movie, Nemesis, and today.

‘We have no scripts as yet, we’re just talking talking, talking storylines. it will be something very, very different.’

Star Trek: Picard is expected to arrive later this year.

Christine And The Queens runs rainbow thread of queer through storming All Points East set

A tour de force (Picture: Burak Cingi/Redferns)

The first weekend of All Points East closed with a rain-soaked performance from Christine And The Queens – and if you’re going to catch a cold for someone, it would be Héloïse Letissier.

The faux-plural French singer, also known as just Chris, hosted one of her biggest headlining gigs to date at the London festival, following up dates headlined by The Chemical Brothers and The Strokes.

And her combination of indie hits with incredible dancing made her worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with those juggernauts.

Minutes before Chris’s set began, the heavens opened, but this did nothing to dampen the spirits of fans, with a huge crowd gathering at the East Stage to hear the opener Comme si.

Dressed in a red shirt, Chris belted out her hits Girlfriend, iT, Tilted and Five Dollars, all while delivering moves reminscent of drag ballrooms. Whether you’re a fan of Christine And The Queens or not, there was no resisting the allure of the incredible dancing put forth on stage. Particular highlights were Chris’s solo breakdowns to Luniz’s I Got 5 On It and Nasty by Janet Jackson. This wasn’t just a standard indie set – this was a full performance.

But the tunes were just as good. As well as the aforementioned setlist staples, there were stunning moments with Les paradis perdus, seguing into Kanye West’s Heartless, The Stranger and a beautiful acapella rendition of David Bowie’s Heroes – made all the more striking by the stage ‘catching fire’ against the backdrop of torrential rain in Victoria Park.

Then there was the basically rainbow thread running through the whole set. Héloïse identifies as pansexual and genderqueer, and the main thing this writer left with was an overwhelmingly sense of queerness. Chris getting up close with female and male dancers occupied many of the routines, while before going into Tilted, she provided a sweet moment for anyone in the LGBTQ+ community in the crowd.

‘Out of place, out of time, out of control,’ she shouted. ‘But man it feels good to be out.’

As the set wrapped up with Intranquillite, I doubt a single person left Victoria Park without a massive crush.

And the rest…

Beach House were given a slot in the West Stage, the only traditional tent at All Points East, and the venue suited their stunningly lit ambient backdrops to a tee. The dreampop band lulled the crowd into a big relaxing cuddle with songs including Dark Spring, Silver Soul and Drunk in LA.

The beautiful Myth remains a set highlight, and as the group concluded with Dive, it was a bit of a bummer to have to leave the tent and enter not a retro beachside scene, but the overcast Victoria Park.

Bringing summer to the festival in an entirely different way was Metronomy, who brought the English riviera to the park. The electro indie set haven’t released an album since 2016, so understandably, the biggest cheers came with classic songs like Heartbreaker and The Bay.

James was a festival highlight (Picture: Burak Cingi/Redferns)

However, energy flagged with the introduction of new single Wedding Bells, with some of the set feeling a bit samey. And perhaps Metronomy were done a bit of a disservice with the second half of their set clashing with James Blake – with many people running off before heading Love Letters and The Look.

Anyone who did do that, though, was in for a treat as James Blake brought his unique brand of sad boy electronic R’n’B to the North Stage. Although stuck behind a keyboard for the set, James had the crowd in the palm of his hand as he sang Limit To Your Love, Assume Form and Retrograde, from his Mercury Prize winning album Overgrown.

While Christine And The Queens was a worthy headliner, James could have easily taken that spot.

Elsewhere at the festival, there was plenty of opportunity for new acts to shine on the Firestone stage, including John Nicholas, who performed his brand of bluesy pop rock on the up and coming stage.

Speaking about how tough is is for new musicians to break into the scene, John told Metro.co.uk: ‘Talent is part of it but I think it’s persistence and playing the hard shows and the shows where there’s no one there, and it’s playing through those stuff and if you can almost get through that round, you can start pushing it to…but it’s hard, it’s not easy to play a gig and have someone half clapping at the back while everybody else chats.

‘Realistically, you have your three month leap, six-month leap freak out – cause I do this full-time and a bit of teaching and gigging – and you have a crazy thing of going I need a proper job. It’s the case of being driven and I can’t do anything else, this is what I enjoy doing.

‘There’s just so many people doing it, you’re in the age of social media and everyone can give themselves a platform straight away, it’s difficult to sort of stand out and be different. That’s the challenge, it’s to find your sort of unique point. Everyone’s gotta have a social media presence and just pushing that; for me, I just love playing live, that’s how I win over fans and you know, just playing and sing to people and that’s how they might be converted into fans and that sort of transfers over to social media.’

All Points East continues next week with headliners Mumford And Sons, Bring Me The Horizon and Bon Iver.

It looks as though the Genie has made Aladdin’s dreams come true, as the movie has just become this year’s third highest opening weekend.

That’s right, according to Box Office Mojo, the Disney live action remake defied all the odds and scooped a whopping $86.1million (£67.8million) at the box office.

This means it landed right behind Captain Marvel that made $153.4million (£120.9million) during its opening weekend.

However, nothing is yet to take over from Avengers: Endgame, which took an incredible $357.1million (£281.4) for the highly anticipated movie.

Despite not breaking all the records, it’s said the magical movie is only set for greater heights (you know, once it takes off on that magical carpet ride!).

Disney distribution chief Cathleen Taff beamed: ‘Aladdin is performing exactly the way we were hoping.

‘We should see strong performance in the coming weeks as we get into the summer season.’

The film has already caused controversy among fans that claimed Will Smith (who plays the Genie) wasn’t blue enough in the trailer.

Yes, ahead of the release a short clip showed the Genie in human form rather than the blue colour the character typically is.

And it seems as though the 50-year-old heard his complaining fans loud and clear, as he has since responded to the backlash.

Fans were afraid Will Smith wasn’t ‘blue’ enough (Picture: Disney)

‘I’m gonna be BLUE! : he insisted before adding: ‘This is how the Genie is in Human / Disguise Form. My character will be CGI most of the movie.’

The initial reaction is understandable given how loved the character is after the late, great Robin Williams voiced him in Disney’s 1992 movie.

The actor spoke about taking on the iconic role when talking to Entertainment Weekly.

Here he said: ‘Whenever you’re doing things that are iconic, it’s always terrifying.

‘The question is always: Where was there meat left on the bone? Robin didn’t leave a lot of meat on the bone with the character.’

We guess we’ll just have to make our own minds up, as Aladdin has finally hit the big screens.

Black Mirror fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of season 5, which will drop on Wednesday 5 June.

It is set to appeal to Miley Cyrus fans too, as the artist will return to acting for the first time in three years to play pop star Ashley O (a fitting role) in the second episode.

In a clever move to promote the upcoming show, Netflix has also announced the launch of another show: Little Black Mirror.

The promotional series comprises of short films, but unlike its predecessor, is not made by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.

When is Netflix’s Little Black Mirror coming out?

Little Black Mirror is targeted at Spanish-speaking audiences and will be released on the Netflix América Latina YouTube channel (which, unfortunately, isn’t available to those of us in the UK).

Despite not having the same showrunners, it will be inspired by the original show.

Actor and internet personality Rudy Mancuso has directed the mini-series, as well as written the accompanying soundtrack. He will also appear in Little Black Mirror himself.

Maia Mitchell, who can also be seen in the streaming giant’s recent coming-of-age movie The Last Summer, is part of the cast alongside Alesso, Hannah Stocking, Junapa Zurita, Lele Pons, Anwar Jibawi, Jeff Wittek and Delaney Glazer.

Netflix’s Little Black Mirror will include three parts, to be aired over the next two weeks.

The first episode was released yesterday (26 May) to be followed by another on 2 June and 6 June.

Calling the BTS ARMY – you’re gonna need to scrape together every last bit of your pocket money and wages this week.

Ahead of the boys’ sellout shows at Wembley Stadium, a special BTS x London pop-up store will be, er, popping up in the capital for all your merch needs.

The store is situated at The Yard, Shoreditch, at 89 1/2 Worship Street, and will stock plenty of ARMY merchandise, as well as signature London t-shirts.

Considering the price of shipping, you may actually be saving money.

Big Hit previously revealed black bomber jackets with a Speak Yourself design on the back, and a black hoodie reading ‘Find your name and find your voice’.

The store will be open from 10am to 8pm from 28 May until 3 June – spanning the weekend of BTS’s gigs in London.

This is the fourth stop for the Speak Yourself pop-up, after it staged weeks in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York – and it will head to Paris from 4 to 10 June after the Wembley concerts.

RM, Jimin, J-Hope, V, Suga, Jin and Jungkook are back for their second string of UK concerts after last year’s two dates at the O2 Arena – this time playing two nights at the 90,000 capacity Wembley Stadium.

They are the first Korean act to headline the legendary venue, and are expected to perform songs from their number one record Map Of The Soul: Persona as well as old favourites.

But before then, BTS will be on our screens performing Boy With Luv on the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals.

We love the Love Island crew, but they are very easy to (lovingly) make fun of.

And with a week to go until it returns to our screens, Iain Stirling is already doling out the mockery.

The Love Island narrator poked fun at literally every former islander’s go-to Instagram pose as he prepared for the return of the show to ITV2.

The 31-year-old, who is already out in Mallorca, and posed for a moody picture on his balcony, holding onto the window sill and looking down, with one hand in his pocket.

The Scottish comedian tweeted: ‘7 more sleeps until @LoveIsland and we get to meet all the amazing people who stand like this in instagram photos.’

And in fairness to Iain, there are some fairly similar snaps across the Instagram feeds of the 2018 cast:

Fans were cracking up at the tweet, with one person writing: ‘So accurate!!! But honestly can’t wait’ and another joking: ‘Did you just drop something out your pocket and now you can’t find it?’

One person complimented Iain: ‘Real star of Love Island love ur sense of humour’, while another reply read: ‘Missing two things ur not topless and you havent got the tiny shorts they all wear on haha.’

A fair point.

Iain is back in charge of narrating all the antics of the new batch of islanders when Love Island series five kicks off on Monday 3 June, with Caroline Flack at the helm as always.

But while Iain – who is dating Laura Whitmore – is known for slagging off the islanders as they crack on with each other, he’s forbidden from being too vicious.

Talking about his more cutting jokes, the voiceover star said on Sunday Brunch: ‘Some of them they let us do – and some they say: “You obviously can’t say that.”

‘We get some Scottish phrases in. London TV execs are like, “Oh, what a quaint phrase” [and] I’m like “That doesn’t mean that”.’

We’re expecting the full line-up of islanders to be revealed any day now, with a Geordie beauty therapist and Tyson Fury’s brother among the rumoured contestants.

Love Island starts on 3 May at 9pm on ITV2.

The Big Bang Theory may have come to an end, but Johnny Galecki has plenty to keep himself busy.

The 44-year-old is expecting his first child with girlfriend Alaina Meyer – and he has now learned they’ll be welcoming a son.

Johnny and Alaina held a paint-themed gender reveal party to discover whether they were having a girl or a boy.

And with the couple’s overalls covered in blue splashes and handprints – including one handprint on Johnny’s butt – the gender reveal got a bit messy.

Alaina, 22, shared a sweet picture of herself sitting in her boyfriend’s lap in the paint-splattered overalls to her Instagram story and wrote: ‘To all those who voted boy, you were right!’

Meanwhile, Johnny – who played Leonard Hofstadter on The Big Bang Theory – called the party ‘a day I’ll never forget’.

The actor had previously admitted he wanted a girl, as he appeared on The Talk earlier this month wearing pink nail polish.

Johnny said: ‘“I get a little bored looking exactly the same way for nine and a half months every year playing Leonard.

‘So we wrapped and I threw some blue in my hair, then I got superstitious that I was manifesting a boy, when I kind of prefer a girl.’

He then joked: ‘Don’t play this tape for my child years from now!’ before saying his baby’s health was the most important thing.

Johnny and Alaina went public with their romance in September 2018, but shut down engagement rumours just a few months later.

And they announced that they are set to become parents in an emotional statement issued just weeks before the finale of The Big Bang Theory.

They said: ‘We are absolutely over the moon to announce that we will soon be welcoming a little one into this crazy and wonderful world.

‘We ask that you please respect our privacy during this celebratory time for us and our families. There truly is love out there for all.

‘We hope ours is the ember of yours, as we feel yours is the ember of ours.’

In the finale of The Big Bang Theory, Johnny’s character Leonard found out he was also set to be a father, as Penny (played by Johnny’s ex Kaley Cuoco) announced she was pregnant.

Game of Thrones fans finally learn how Arya Stark killed the Night King

Game Of Thrones fans watched Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark slay the Night King in season eight episode three’s The Long Hour.

There were lots of unanswered questions about how the young warrior managed to take down the biggest baddie in Westeros, but now we finally have some closure and it’s all thanks to two-hour documentary The Last Watch.

Besides showing us Kit Harington’s reaction to his final moments with Emilia Clarke, the behind-the-scenes footage showed the first table read for the installment revealing how Arya brought the villain, played by Vladimir Furdik, to meet his maker.

Scriptwriter Bryan Cogman excitedly read out the incredible scenes to the cast and crew, exclaiming: ‘She vaults off a pile of dead Wights, leaps at the Night King and she plunges the dagger through the Night King’s armour and the Night King shatters.’

Arya’s triumph was met by cheers and applause from the actors, with Kit gasping at the revelation.

Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke and Sophie Turner were seen clapping.

Despite Arya’s stellar victory in the season eight finale HBO programming president, Casey Bloys, has ruled out any hopes for a spin-off based on her character, explaining that the network doesn’t want to pursue any shows connected to characters from Game Of Thrones.

‘Nope, nope, nope. No,’ he said about the possibility of Arya getting her own show.

‘Part of it is, I do want this show – this Game Of Thrones, Dan and David’s show – to be its own thing.’

He continued to The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I don’t want to take characters from this world that they did beautifully and put them off into another world with someone else creating it.

‘I want it to let it be the artistic piece they’ve got. That’s one of the reasons why I’m not trying to do the same show over.’

Game Of Thrones is available to stream on NOW TV.

Andrea McLean has just gone and smashed The Vitality London 10,000 after running the 10k race in just her underwear .

Yes, the 49-year-old stripped off as part of her new body confidence campaign and joined a number of other ladies in their run towards the finish line.

And despite getting off to a nervous start, it seems she completely nailed the run as she beamed when completing the race.

On her way to St James’s Park, in London, the Loose Women panelist documented her drive and confessed to her followers just how apprehensive she was.

Talking into the camera, the mother-of-two revealed: ‘This is it, we’re on our way, we are leaving 20 minutes later than we said we would.

‘I was slightly panicking thinking I’d forgotten things and then I wanted to put a little bit of make-up on, just so I didn’t frighten the cats as I was running around.’

She laughed: ‘And then I realised I didn’t put any sun tan lotion on after getting dressed, so I had to take everything off, and then put sun tan lotion on because I didn’t want to get burned.’

Explaining why she’d been making her very human mistakes, the presenter said: ‘But really it’s because I’m quite nervous, I’m quite nervous.’

She went on: ‘I’ve never done anything like this before, I’ve never done a race before. I feel like a little kid, where am I supposed to go? What am I supposed to do?’

Andrea explained: ‘There’s going to be all these normal people there and then I’m going to take my clothes off and stand there in my pants.’

The star’s Instagram went quite after that until she had completed the race – and she looked so, so happy.

Grinning away, and absolutely glowing, Andrea told her 209,000 followers: ‘We did it, we did it, we did it, we did it, that is the finish line, these are the people limping away.’

Prior to her run, the star had opened up about how she had been trolled before the race due to her size.

According to Andrea, one of her followers said she was ‘too slim’ to take part and would have more of a following if she was ‘bigger.’

However, it turns out she is running the race in order to spread awareness of her scars, after being left insecure following her hysterectomy.
