Sehun and Chanyeol from EXO are releasing a joint album (Picture: Rex Features)
SM Entertainment have confirmed that Chanyeol and Sehun are set to be the first duo from EXO.
EXO-L’s will get their chance to see what magic the exciting K-Pop new sub unit have been making when their album drops in July.
‘Chanyeol and Sehun are currently preparing to release their first unit album in July. Please look forward to it’, SM Entertainment said in a statement.
The project has been teased for weeks and excitement reached new levels when the boys were spotted flying out to Los Angeles to film their music video.
Sehun, 25 and Chanyeol, 22, have already released the track We Young as part of SM Station so time will tell if their album will be in a similar vein to the track.

But prior to its initial release in November, Chen and his fellow EXO members were blown away by a mammoth 1.1 million pre-sales of their fifth album Don’t Mess Up My Tempo.
It’s since been confirmed that the album, which was repackaged as Love Shot in December, has received an official double-platinum certification from the Gaon Chart after selling over 500,000 copies since its re-release.
Safe to assume Chanyeol and Sehun’s album might go down well with fans.

Sheridan Smith wowed with her performance at 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings (Picture: PA)
Sheridan Smith blew fans away with her performance at Portmouth’s D-Day 75 commemoration event, and the star revealed she felt her late father would have been ‘proud’ of her rendition of Vera Lynn’s track, We Will Meet Again.
Her father Colin passed away in December 2016 aged 80, after a long battle with cancer.
‘I just met all the amazing veterans in there, I’m an emotional wreck,’ said the singer and actress after the emotional performance.
‘It’s just such an honour. I can’t believe I’ve been asked to be here to be honest. It’s overwhelming.’

Sheridan said the performance would have made her late father proud (Picture: AP)
The West End star added, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘It’s a moment I know my dad would have been so proud of… so I just enjoyed every minute of it.
‘My dad was in the war and I know this would have been the best thing, for him to see me do this.’
Sheridan, 37, performed in front of the Queen, Prince Charles, American President Donald Trump and his wife Melania.
Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian President Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and German chancellor Angela Merkel were also in the audience.
Sheridan looked glamorous with her hair in 1940s-style victory rolls, while she wore royal blue lace dress but her performance also featured a quick outfit change into an equally classy white gown.

Just watched the new Nintendo Direct and got to say that Pokémon Sword and Shield are looking good. It seems as if the game is a mixture of true open world and more traditional Pokémon towns, with the Wild Area looking to be like a mini-Breath Of The Wild in terms of you being able to wander around do what you want. The graphics look good and while I hope there are more online options to be revealed the co-op is welcome.
It’s obviously the best-looking Pokémon ever but while it’s not exactly Detective Pikachu (the movie) quality I think it’s a good step up. Liked some of the designs too, although blatantly everyone’s going to choose the Sword version because its legendary is a dead ringer for Sif from Dark Souls!
The only thing I wasn’t entirely sold on was the giant pokémon angle, which seemed a bit silly and unnecessary. It was hard to tell how much of the game is about that though, so if it’s only an occasional thing I’m fine with it. Wouldn’t pre-order or it or anything but it’s definitely on my radar. Onibee
PS: Why is it coming out the same day as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order? Do these companies really not own a calendar? How can they keep making these mistakes?!
Constant improvement
I can’t remember who mentioned it the other day, but they said it was a mistake that there were no plans for a sequel to Rainbow Six Siege. Got to say I agree. Franchises with yearly editions, such as Call Of Duty, can become repetitive and tiresome. However, sequels mean that developers can learn from their mistakes and improve and hone the gameplay.
How many sequels such as Uncharted 2, Resident Evil 2, and Batman: Arkham City are considered equal or better than the original? It’s always good to play something new and original but there is always an element of uncertainty when playing something you haven’t experienced before. It’s sometimes more enjoyable to visit franchises you know you already love. matc7884
PS: Bit of advice from the readers or yourselves. I’m considering purchasing the PlayStation VR mega pack during the 11 Days of Play sale. This is already a pretty significant amount of cash and don’t particularly feel I can also fork over £70 for two Move controllers. Are these absolutely necessary? And if so will just one do? I’ve heard the PlayStation 3 Move controllers do pretty much the same.
GC: They are the PlayStation 3 Move controllers, there was no new version made for PlayStation VR. They’re not absolutely necessary (although a few games do require them) but you’re not going to get the full experience unless you have them. Which is a shame as they’re both expensive and not very precise.
Anthem of the lost
Perusing the various online stores I was somewhat astonished, but not surprised, to see Anthem selling for under £20. Remarkable for a relatively recent looter shooter title, but given the multitude of reports about a declining user base and a plethora of alternative options in the genre the question arises who, if anyone, is still playing the game? And when do BioWare face the music and decide to fish or cut bait?
Even a casual search of the Anthem forums reveal multiple stories of legendary drop missions being run alone, with no player interactions. I’ll accept or presume there is still a core BioWare fan base that have stuck with it to some degree but the numbers don’t support that and at some point as a company they’ll have to decide whether the cost of pushing forward is too great.
I suppose the broader question for the entire genre is will we see studios adopt a more ruthless business mentality and terminate any project that doesn’t see a return. Or see such a wave of critical and commercial failure that it damages the reputation of the company involved. I’m optimistic BioWare can survive to some degree but certainly given the reputation and history of EA it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see this as a last strike situation. I hope I’m wrong, I have many great memories of the studio and their games, from Baldur’s Gate onwards. ATBonfire (Facebook)/around.the.bonfire (Instagram)/ATBonfire (WordPress)
GC: The fact that Anthem is not even scheduled for a mention at E3 speaks volumes.
It’s good to have an old skool SNES vs. Mega Drive playground style argument thanks to both Mini consoles. Let’s be completely honest now, the SNES wasn’t just more powerful the control pad was/is far superior and the exclusives were unquestionably better.
I absolutely believe that Super Mario World, Zelda: A Link To The Past, and Super Metroid were, and still are genuinely perfect games. Any thoughts on how those games hold up over a quarter of a century on GC? adams6legend
GC: We haven’t played any of them in a long while, but they all have very similar modern equivalents (we were just playing Super Mario Maker 2 yesterday) and they’re all great.
Save yourself
After seeing the line-up for the Mega Drive Mini I’m very impressed Sega are finally getting things right again. What is also nice is to see not the same stuff we seen on every collection disc or Steam. Alisia Dragoon, by the way, is a hidden gem. I known a lot of people won’t know it but I played it growing up and it’s an amazing game and ahead of its time in the day. Why? Because it had a female lead that didn’t need saving and could kick butt. And also really good graphics and sound and was exclusive to the Mega Drive.
Have I pre-ordered a Mega Drive Mini? No, not yet, because like all the other machines I want to see how well it runs before I invest in it. If it runs well then I will be snapping one up. I grew up with the Sega Mega Drive and, yes, later I owned a SNES and other consoles. For me Sega used to really do some amazing work that was overshadowed by Nintendo, which is shame as the Mega Drive can hold its own and hopefully the Mini will showcase some of its fine titles. Dream game
Influenced by reading up on the new portable console the Playdate, I had a dream where Nintendo released their own portable console with its own gimmick. This new console focused on using GPS in all its titles and the new Zelda game had a Pokémon GO-esque feature meaning that in your home you could play a set dungeon but if you wanted to play another one you would have to pop over to another location.
Key items could be recovered and could be spoken to just by going to certain public hotspots. Some even acted as shops where you could buy things. This particular dream had a bunch of tourists showing up at my door desperate to get access to my dungeon to finish their game. An interesting thing was when pausing to check the game map, it showed you a view of the entire world – but it was in the style of A Link To The Past’s Overworld map! C’mon Nintendo, make my dream come true! Major_Kahonas
Alternative review
Finally, a decent and fair, balanced review of Days Gone.
I have to say that I agree with practically everything the reviewer wrote.
I’ve been playing the game quite a bit recently and have got quite into it. The last Far Cry was incredibly boring in comparison, and there really isn’t a great deal out there.
The game also introduces a very unique menu navigation, which I’ve not seen on other games.
It’s not perfect, but at least an 8/10 for me, probably higher in the current market. Anon
GC: You sound much more positive about the game than our review?
Lepton’s recent letter has reminded me to write in about my Fallout 76 experiences.
I read the reviews and, like others, changed my mind about purchasing this game but kept an eye on Twitch to see how it was shaping up.
I finally cracked when a cheap PC version came up and piled into Appalachia with moderate excitement. Long story short – It has now taken over my gaming life (just checked and was shocked to see I’m at 376 hours).
I think it’s fair to say that it’s a long way from what it was at release and has had a lot of extra content added and tweaks made, with more to come. Yes, there are bugs and some annoyances. Yes, it crashes now and again but it is a lot of fun. For instance, in Fallout 4 I hated the building but now, while still glitchy, it is something I can spend hours on just building a camp I know I will hate in a couple of days and rebuild somewhere else.
I find the hunt for Legendary gear and the trading compelling too, along with finding out random past stories from the deceased and actually find the lack of other characters more to my vision of how an apocalypse should turn out.
When you do come across another player they are, generally, friendly and try to help lower level players out with free stuff and following along to assist however they can or joining in to take out a powerful enemy. When done, a quick wave or thumbs up and off you all go.
I should mention the Twitch 76 community, which is the most pleasant and non-toxic gaming environment I have ever come across. The likes of MunchkinJesse, GoodmorningDuke, Sabahe QuantunPixie, and Tooniversal (among many others) are a breath of fresh air and all have different styles to enjoy.
Personally, I would suggest people reconsider if they are on the fence and enjoy the Fallout series.
Oh, and by the way, no, I am not excusing Bethesda for the mess! Wkma (Tigtheelder)

While the recent Persona Q2 will, probably, end up being our last ever 3DS review, the original version of Trails Of Cold Steel II was one of the last games we ever reviewed on the PS Vita. As you’d expect from Sony’s sadly neglected portable, that meant it must be either an indie game or a Japanese import, if not both. Venerable Japanese developer Falcom aren’t indie in the modern sense of the word, but for 38 years they’ve toiled away on their own, making role-playing games few in the West have ever heard of. Which is a shame as most of them are really good.
The first entry in the Trails Of Cold Steel tetralogy was released on PlayStation 4 earlier in the year, with the two other entries already out in Japan and slowly making their way to the West as PlayStation 4 exclusives. Apart from simply wanting to have all the games on one format the first two feature a save data transfer feature that will presumably be carried through to the others, so there’s a real incentive for playing them all on the PlayStation 4.
Although Falcom’s early ‘80s work was highly influential on the action role-playing genre in Japan (the seminal Dragon Slayer was a big influence on the original Zelda), their most recent titles have been more traditional turn-based games. Trials Of Cold Steel takes place in a particularly well-realised fantasy world that has been turned upside down by a sort of magic-infused industrial revolution – where technology has gone from medieval to airships in the space of just a few decades. Which allows the game to feature both giant robots and a working class revolt.
Trials Of Cold Steel II works similarly to the Mass Effect series, in that if you’ve played the original you can use its save data to give your characters stat bonuses and extra items. More interestingly, it means the relationships you formed in the original are also carried forward. Most of the first game took part at a military academy and allowed you to form Persona style social links with different characters. So the idea of seeing how they pan out once you’re sent out to war is very interesting.
The sequel starts just a month after the end of the first game, with the main characters scattered across the countryside after surviving a coup. Before long you’re given command of your own airship, as you try to reorganise and help the civilian population. This works something like the castle from Suikoden II, as the airship slowly turns from an empty conveyance to a home-from-home teeming with friends and allies.
Your academy allies are from a mix of backgrounds, and the outbreak of war has many of them questioning their loyalty to not just each other but their own families. The dialogue which portrays this can be clunky, with a long-windedness that suggests a too literal translation from the Japanese original, but the depth of the characterisation, and very human stories, are still interesting and relatable.

The Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Cold Steel II (PS4) – magic robots are best robots
The turn-based combat is the same basic system as before, but the new overdrive feature expands it considerably by allowing combat-linked characters to attack up to three turns in a row, use magic instantly, and heal at the end of your attack. This isn’t just change for change’s sake either, as the new techniques are vital for beating the tougher bosses, which are not only extremely difficult but often appear in quick succession. The mechs from the first game also have a much bigger role to play in the sequel, which helps to shake things up further.
Unfortunately though the problems with the original game still linger, primarily the slow pacing of its story and general structure. There’s a horse and motorcycle you can use to get around on the ground, which help to speed up exploration, but they’re not introduced until hours into the game. Similarly, the early dungeon designs are very uninspired, and it’s only later on they become more interesting. And as engrossing as the plot can be it’s still constantly getting snagged on minor sub-plots that should either have been cut out or sped up considerably.
But Falcom are clearly very invested in the world they’ve created and it’s hard for that not to rub off on you as you play. There are very few changes from the PS Vita version, although this seems to be based on the PC edition released last year. There’s more voice-acting than there was originally, and the option of using the original Japanese dub, but other than that it’s exactly the same game, just at a higher resolution.
Although it really is advisable that you start with the first one, Trails Of Cold Steel II is still one of the best traditional Japanese role-players of the current generation. Admittedly that’s not up against much competition but it’s a godsend for existing fans and a useful example to others of what the genre still has to offer today.
The Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Cold Steel II
In Short: Another engrossing example of traditional Japanese role-playing, that’s still accessible enough for anyone to enjoy – as long as they’ve played the first one.
Pros: A great mix of new and old genre conventions, with useful improvements to the battle system. Interesting characters and the link from one game to another works well.
Cons: The pacing can still be frustratingly slow, and the opening few hours are easily the least interesting. Dungeon crawling elements can feel uninspired.

Kourtney Kardashian sat down with Emily Ratajkowski to talk all things confidence (Picture: Kourtney Kardashian/Instagram)
If there are lessons to be learned about inner confidence, we’ll take them from Emily Ratajkowski.
That’s why Kourtney Kardashian, 40, stole seven minutes with the model, 27, to discuss all things empowerment, lingerie and combatting negativity.
Emily, who is launching her own swim line and bodywear, joined Kourtney on Poosh.com to reveal how she shuts down criticism about her provocative Instagram photos.
She said: ‘[When I post nude pictures on Instagram] the initial reaction is, “Oh my god, naked again” or “She’s so stupid” and “Do you have nothing else to offer?”

Emily has amassed a massive 23million followers on Instagram, thanks to unbelievable pictures like this (Picture: Instagram/Emily Ratajkowski)
‘But actually, I’m running a business out of this. It’s about personal branding.’
She added: ‘I love the idea of white, older men in suits saying they don’t take me seriously [in business] while I make more money than them.’
Emily has recently launched a line called Inamorata, featuring (you guessed it) high-cut swimsuits but also bodywear that can be worn out of the house like cycling shorts, bodies and skirts.
‘Every piece is something I would wear,’ says Emily, who says the line is built for girls who are very comfortable in their bodies.

Kourtney has smashed the 70million followers mark, thanks to her sultry Instagram snaps (Picture: kourtneykardash/Instagram)
Having similarly bolstered her gargantuan Instagram with sultry lingerie photos, Kourtney explained why good underwear is important, even when no-one else knows about it.
‘I love that lingerie is just for me,’ she said. ‘I can be buying something new and thinking no-one’s even going to notice but it makes me feel [a little boost].’
Emily added: ‘That’s how I think of fashion and beauty in general. Ultimately, if it makes you feel a little bit better about yourself then that’s going to carry with you in whatever you’re doing.’
Kourtney even shared the life lesson the great Kris Jenner always taught the Kardashian sisters about lingerie: Always wear matching sets, in case you’re in a car accident.

Celia Walden is about ready to switch Piers Morgan ‘off’ (Picture: CeliaWalden/Instagram)
The only woman proven to have a higher tolerance level than Susanna Reid has had it up to here with Piers Morgan’s latest tomfoolery.
Celia Walden, Piers Morgan’s long-suffering wife, was desperately seeking the ‘off’ switch on her Morgan 3000 hairdryer on Wednesday night, and fair play to her.
Joking that she’d finally had enough of his hot air after 13 years, the novelist hinted that their marriage could be ‘about to blow’ as she held the novelty hairdryer up to her ear.
Captioning the photo on Instagram, Celia wrote: ‘Does anyone know where the ‘off’ button on the Morgan 3000 is?

‘Been looking for 13 years – and it smells like something’s gonna blow. Might be our marriage.’
The novelty device, made especially for ITV, functions like any regular hairdryer except Piers’s infuriated face has been 3D printed and hand painted to cover the mouth of the ‘Morgan 3000’.
Like Piers, the product has ‘easy-to-push’ buttons but it does come with a warning to ‘keep out of reach from those easily offended’ because it can have a ‘short fuse.’

In the interview, Trump was forced to clarify comments he made about Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
He appeared to call the Duchess ‘nasty’ in an interview with The Sun when he learned of comments she made before the US elections in 2016 saying she would leave the country if he won.
Clarifying his words, Trump told Piers: ‘I wasn’t referring to she’s nasty. I said she was nasty about me. And essentially I didn’t know she was nasty about me.’
He added: ‘You know what? She’s doing a great job, I hope she enjoys her life… I think she’s very nice.’
Pressed further by Piers on the comments, Trump added: ‘She was nasty to me. And that’s okay for her to be nasty, it’s not good for me to be nasty to her and I wasn’t.’

Stacey Solomon thinks she’s finally getting on there on the breastfeeding front (Instagram/StaceySolomon)
Stacey Solomon is celebrating a small win in what has been a less than ‘blissful’ road to breastfeeding her third child.
The mum-of-three explained her different experiences with feeding each of her sons, saying her newborn has not ‘latched onto her Pepperami nipples’ as easily this time around.
Yet the Loose Women star declared that they were ‘finally getting there’ on Wednesday night as she smiled in a sweet new breastfeeding picture on Instagram.
‘Trying to smile,’ she wrote. ‘This is my face every time he latches on. I didn’t breastfeed Leighton and I don’t remember 11 years ago with Zach so it came as a bit of a shock to me when my feeding experience wasn’t blissful breast time and expressing pints of milk in between!

Stacey says she’s seeing the fog lift in her post-pregnancy journey (Picture: @staceysolomon)
‘After not mastering the latch that leaving my boobs engorged and my nipples feeling like they’d been rubbed on sandpaper I think we are finally getting there.
‘I’ve been milked by just about every health visitor and breastfeeding specialist around (for which I am eternally grateful) and my baby can finally get his tiny mouth around, what Zach and Leighton call, my Pepperami nipples!’
Stacey said she still hadn’t ‘mastered’ it but wanted to reassure new mums that there was ‘nothing wrong’ with them, or the way they were doing things.
She added: ‘It’s so wonderful to see people’s happy breastfeeding pictures and amazing expressing photos – I love them, but from somebody who is lucky to express 10ml, if not dust, when I put a pump on I would have loved to see some different experiences too.
‘Here’s to making it work no matter what way round you do it! Breast or bottle, Mammas, YOU ARE INCREDIBLE!’
Stacey’s journey into new motherhood has been an extremely candid one.
She was sad to see her baby bump shrinking and found herself sobbing uncontrollably ‘at least twice a day’ in the first few days.
But the mum-of-three is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and accepting that she’s ‘no less of a mother’ if emotion and hormones creep up on her during a good day.
Isaac Carew and Dua Lipa have been together on and off since 2013 (Photo by Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images)
Dua Lipa and her boyfriend Isaac Carew have reportedly made the ‘difficult decision’ to split.
The pair, who attended the Met Gala together just last month, have split after struggling to see each other regularly, The Sun reports.
They have been together on and off since 2013 but the last three years have been especially tough, sources claim, because the IDGAF hitmaker’s schedule is getting busier.
A source said: ‘Dua and Isaac have really struggled to see each other since getting back together.

‘They wanted to make things work and things were great between them for a while but she is just getting busier and busier.
‘She is gearing up to release new music and has basically been performing across the world non-stop for the past three years so it’s been tough.’
A representative for Dua Lipa has been contacted by Metro.co.uk for comment.

Isaac unfollowed the One Kiss singer on Instagram earlier this week and posted a pretty sad ‘visual representation’ of his inner feelings on Wednesday night, alongside a broken heart.
The couple has been together for a number of years but they briefly split in February 2017.
‘I’m such a firm believer in love,’ she said in an interview with ELLE UK last May.
‘I blame my parents for that, because they have a really good relationship and I think they’ve set my standards high.’
She added: ‘There’s so much fun in being single. When I’m single, I end up having so much more time to do a lot of other stuff… I think you learn so much more about yourself when you’re completely alone.’

Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper are reportedly clinging on for the sake of their daughter Lea (Photo by Daniele Venturelli/WireImage)
Things are ‘not good’ between Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper, multiple reports suggest.
Irina is understood to have moved out of the £3.6million Pacific Palisades home she shares with Bradley and their two-year-old Lea De Seine while the relationship ‘hangs on by a thread’.
One report by The Sun on Thursday alleges that Irina ‘thought it would best’ to move into a place of her own after a few bad months with Bradley.

A source told the publication that things were ‘cooling off’ and predicted that there was ‘not much longer left’ between the two of them.
A second source appeared to corroborate the claims when they told UsWeekly: ‘They haven’t been getting along for a while.
‘They aren’t calling it quits yet, but they are not in a great place.’
Only a day early, Page Six suggested neither Irina nor Bradley were happy in the relationship.
Their source claimed: ‘Because of their daughter, they keep trying. Things are not good. Neither one is happy. The relationship is hanging by a thread.’

The makers of James Bond have received a visit from Health and Safety Executives (Picture: Jonathan Olley/Columbia/Eon/Danjaq/Mgm/Kobal/REX/Shutterstock)
Danger might as well be James Bond’s middle name, but Health And Safety finally caught up with 007, this week.
One crew member was injured when a controlled explosion went ‘horribly wrong’ this week, drastically damaging the exterior of a studio building and now the production is facing probes.
A source told The Sun: ‘The only people putting the stoppers on 007 right now are the government suits.

‘They marched in with their briefcases and told the Bond bigwigs they were investigating what had gone on.
‘It takes a lot of put Bond in his place, but this lot have.’.
A spokeswoman for the HSE told MailOnline: ‘HSE is aware of the incident and making initial enquiries.’
The role of The Health and Safety Executive in the UK is to assess and regulate occupational risks.
Metro.co.uk reached out to Pinewood Studios on Tuesday but they had no comment to make.
Production on Bond 25 was put on ‘total lockdown’ when a member of staff was crushed by a part of the set which fell as he stood by a ramp outside the studios.
Bond 25 filming was temporarily suspended following the incident, where it was believed the actor, 51, ‘fell awkwardly’ on his ankle during a chase scene on foot.
At the time, it was confirmed that the April 2020 release date was still on track but it’s not yet known has this latest setback will affect filming.
The next Bond flick is directed by Cary Fukunaga, and stars Rami Malek, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, Ana de Armas, Lashana Lynch and David Dencik.
Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge was also drafted in to help write the script.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious (Picture: London Fire Brigade)
One neighbour told the publication: ‘Windows had been smashed, a rollerblind had been thrown out of the window, and a few roof tiles had been chucked on the floor on the drive.
‘It was the day after Oritse got cleared. It was fresh damage.’
Oritse is understood to have been holed up at a nearby apartment for the last few days and hasn’t lived in the luxury home for over a year.
The mansion was derelict when the JLS singer listed the home at a £1.25million loss last January, five years after purchasing it with his ex-girlfriend.

It was claimed that the home fell into disrepair after his 2018 arrest for an alleged incident at a hotel following a concert in Wolverhampton in December 2016.
There, Oritse claimed to have had consensual sex with a 20-year-old woman who then accused him of rape.
Oritse was cleared of rape by a jury of eight women and four men on May 28, 2019 after ‘three years of hell’.
The former X Factor contestant was accused of behaving like a ‘sexual predator’ during the week-long trial last month.
Oritse maintained his innocence from the time of his arrest in September 2018 and pleaded not guilty to the charges a month later.

Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey don’t speak since he left Grey’s Anatomy (Picture: ABC)
Ellen Pompeo has admitted that Grey’s Anatomy’s ‘toxic work environment’ left her nearly quitting the show altogether.
The actress has been leading the cast for the past 14 years as Meredith Grey in the medical drama, but admitted that for a long time the show was a ‘disaster’ behind the scenes.
Speaking to Taraji P Henson as part of Variety’s Actors-on-Actors series, Ellen spoke about her time on Grey’s and how she was moments away from leaving the series.
She said: ‘There was a serious, serious, culture issues. Very bad behaviour, really toxic work environment.
‘I had my daughter in season six, and I think that’s when things started to change for me, because I had someone other than myself to think about. So at that point, and I was 40 years old, and it was 10 years ago. So I thought: ‘I’m 40 years old, where am I ever going to get this kind of money? I need to take care of my kid.’
After vowing to stay, she’s praised how the business has changed and credited then-showrunner Shonda Rhimes for joining forces with her to turn the show around.

‘After Season 10, we had some big shifts in front of the camera, behind the camera,’ the actress continued.
‘It became my goal to turn that set around, and to have an experience there that I could be happy and proud about, because we had had so much turmoil for 10 years.’
‘Shonda Rhimes and I …decided to rewrite the ending of this story,’ she added. ‘We want to turn the page and start a new chapter.’
Over the course of the show’s run, the dynamic behind the scenes wasn’t always hidden – with Katherine Heigl infamously being sacked from the show, and Ellen admitting she ‘hasn’t said a word’ to Patrick Dempsey since he left the show in 2015 – although there were no hard feelings there.
The future of the show has been thrown into question over the past year as it was revealed that Ellen’s contract expires in 2020, and she’s keen to try new things.
He told us: ‘I mean, the show is Grey’s Anatomy, its Meredith Grey.
‘Everyone is so connected to her. I think it would be difficult, but anything can happen.’
The star added: ‘It would be wonderful for the show to start and end with Meredith.’
Grey’s Anatomy airs on ABC in the US.

Caroline was reportedly surprised by Kelly’s comments (Picture: ITV)
Caroline Flack is reportedly ‘upset’ over comments Kelly Brook made earlier this week, with the model suggesting the TV presenter is copying her life.
While hosting her Heart FM radio show this week, Kelly, 39, is said to have pointed out the similarities between herself and Caroline, with both hosting Love Island and dating rugby player Danny Cipriani.
According to The Sun, Kelly said live on-air: ‘I can’t believe she’s doing Love Island and dating Danny Cipriani.
‘I was like, “Is she just following my life or something”? Hang on, I was the first host of Love Island, then I dated Danny. It’s like, what’s next?’
The former Big Breakfast host reportedly added: ‘Is she going to come and start hosting this show next?
‘I don’t know if she’s still dating him. But when I look at stuff like that I’m like, “This is just weird. It’s just weird”.’
A source claims Caroline, 39, was taken aback by Kelly’s comments and saw them as ‘needlessly catty and unpleasant’.

The insider added: ‘Caroline has hosted the show for five years and ITV have seen the ratings increase every year.’
In 2008, Kelly and Danny dated for several months but later claimed she ended their relationship, describing him as a ‘car crash’ in her 2013 autobiography.
Speaking to The Sun last month, she stated: ‘He’s a really nice guy, but I’m not seeing him. I’m going on dates but I’m not telling you who with.’
Metro.co.uk have contacted Kelly and Caroline’s reps for comment.

You can always rely on Transparent to mark Pride Month with something special and they’ve continued tradition with a bittersweet first look at their musical final episode.
The Amazon Prime video series will be ending on a high note – quite literally – as they head into the world of musicals and they handle grief and loss through the virtue of song.
Teasing what happens, the episode synopsis reads: ‘When the Pfeffermans face a life-changing loss, they begin a journey hilarious and melancholy, brazen and bold.
‘As they face this new transition, they confront grief and come together to celebrate connection, joy, and transformation.’
The loss in question is family matriarch Maura, who kicked off the entire show’s plot with the late-in-life revelation that she was transgender.
As the family come to terms with the announcement, the drama has been highly praised for its LGBT representation in both a dramatic and comedic light.

The musical finale was announced back in October last year, with show creator Jill Soloway revealing to the New York Times she was hoping for ‘Jesus Christ Superstar mixed with La La Land’.

As a result, Maura is being killed off screen, and the final episodes will be the family adjusting to life without them.

Joe Garratt left viewers uneasy as he tried to keep hold of Lucie Donlan (Picture: Rex)
Love Island viewers are begging Joe Garratt to calm down after his possessive behaviour on last night’s episode left him compared to stalker Joe Goldberg in Netflix thriller, You.
The young islander had been coupled up with surfer Lucie Donlan less than 24 hours before she was swiped from him by Tommy Fury in a newcomer’s steal twist.
Rather than let Lucie go, viewers became concerned that the sandwich seller had become too attached too quickly, and was starting to exhibit possessive behaviour when he got mad at her for going on a date with the boxer.
Despite Lucie having no say in the matter of the date (and even if she did, she had only been speaking to Joe for less than 48 hours) Joe told her that he ‘didn’t know if he could trust her’ when she returned from the date after having a good time.
Wanting her to commit to him as a potential couple, Lucie sought comfort in Amy, who told her it was too early to close off other options, and Curtis, who assured her it was her decision to make and no-one else’s.
Joe would keep constant tabs on his girlfriend Beck as his behaviour got more controlling (Picture: Netflix)
Rather than share a bed with either Joe or Tommy, she eventually spent the night on the sofa. In the morning she then admitted to Tommy she was swaying towards Joe.
Yup, three days in and there’s already a fight over a girl and a love triangle. It’s Love Island season alright.
However, viewers wanted her to be careful and warned her that Joe’s possessive behaviour so soon was a massive red flag – comparing him to stalker character Joe from Netflix smash-hit You.
In the fictional drama series, Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgely) went to extreme lengths to keep tabs on his girlfriend Beck – coming across as charming but removing anyone in his path as he did so.
Initially learning all about her via social media after becoming obsessed with her, Joe would also track her phone, and follow Beck to events if he didn’t trust she was telling the truth.
While Joe Garratt is far from being even in the same league at this point, viewers still couldn’t help but make the comparison to his early behaviour.
Viewers were quick to draw comparisons between the two and warned Lucie to keep an eye out for the red flags.

Lucie still has a couple of days to make her decision over who to pick over the next couple of days.
The first dumping is on the horizon and the first islander is about to leave, and with the sudden arrival of the first series bombshell, Molly Mae-Hague, it’s literally all to play for.
Could Joe make a move on the new blonde and leave Lucie in the dust?
Only one way to find out.
Love Island continues weeknights at 9pm on ITV2.

Tommy Fury might get his head turned by newcomer Molly-Mae Hague (Picture: ITV)
Tommy Fury could be about to get his head turned by a new arrival in the Love Island villa.
Molly-Mae Hague is going to enter the villa and stir things up between the islanders, and she could be exactly what Tommy is looking for.
The 20-year-old’s arrival was teased at the end of Wednesday night’s episode.
Tommy, the brother of boxer Tyson Furty previously stole Lucie from Joe Garratt when he turned up as a latecomer.
Lucie went on a date with Tommy, and after Joe’s weird behaviour she decided to keep her options open.
However Tommy might be out of bounds by the time Molly-Mae arrives, and the blonde social media influencer is definitely Tommy’s type on paper.
Love Island fans have already predicted that Tommy might jump ship as he doesn’t know where he stands with Lucie.

‘Tommy’s head isn’t gonna be turned by Beyoncé or Rihanna but I bet it’s turned by Molly Mae,’ read a fan comment on Twitter.
‘Tommy is 100% going for Molly mae tommorow,’ another claimed.
One response read: ‘Tommy is obviously going to go with molly now.’
‘Let’s be honest tommy is gonna drop lucie like a tone of bricks when molly mae comes in,’ another viewer predicted.

Lucie broke down in tears in Wednesday’s episode because she was so torn between Joe and Tommy, despite only knowing them for two days.
In the end she chose to spend the night alone on the sofas instead of getting into bed with either lad.
Having had time to reflect, the next morning she told Tommy that their date only made her realise how much of a connection she has with Joe.
Before Molly’s arrival in tonight’s episode, she said that she is ‘laid back and easy going’ and that she doesn’t want to break any hearts in the process of getting her man.
However she might accidentally end up breaking Lucie’s if she doesn’t make her mind up.
‘I’m an open book, I’m easy to talk to and approachable and I’m very chilled. I can talk to anyone. Nothing is ever awkward with me,’ Molly said.
‘If someone was deeply involved with someone and had deep feelings, I would try and still get what I want but not try and upset anyone.’
Chris is fully embracing Thor’s weight gain (Picture: MEGA; Chris Hemsworth/Instagram)
Marvel fans may have thought he was ‘pregnant’, but Chris Hemsworth is fully embracing Thor’s weight gain these days.
The Thor: Ragnarok actor has shared a hilarious advert mocked up by a fan, revealing just how the God of Thunder gained all those extra pounds while exiled in Avengers: Endgame.
Billed as ‘Asgard’s #1 selling weight-GAIN regimen’, the faux advert shows a before and after of Thor with his formerly ripped body and the fuller figure he was sporting by the end of the latest Avengers installment.
Thor says: ‘I noticed a HUGE change to my body in just 5 years!
‘With the help of pizza, beer and Fortnite, I GAINED the coveted “one-pack” ab faster than a stroke of lightning! My co-workers tell me to cut back, I say “this beer, I like it, ANOTHER!!!”’
Probably not a diet that anyone should be following.
Even more brilliantly, Thor’s comment was signed off: ‘Fat Thor, God of Thunder, New Asgard.’
Chris spent hours getting into Thor’s fat suit for Avengers: Endgame (Picture: Backgrid)
Speaking to Variety, the Australian actor said: ‘It was certainly exhausting. I had weights on my hands and ankles just to have my arms and legs swing differently when I shuffled along through the set.
‘People just kept coming up and cuddling me like a big bear or rubbing my belly like I was pregnant.’
Although fond of the attention, he added: ‘You get a lot of affection. I felt like an old man, an old grandpa, with a bunch of kids around. And then you get sick of it when people come up and grab your belly.
‘“Don’t grab me like that!” I know how my wife [Elsa Pataky] felt when strangers would come up and rub her belly.’

Catherine Tyldesley got honest about her body hang-ups (Picture: On the Beach/PinPep)
Catherine Tyldesley has opened up about her body hang-ups, and we love her for it.
The former Coronation Street actress – who is fronting On The Beach’s free family swimming sessions campaign – is desperate to get people in the swimming pool, and having some fun.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, the 35-year-old was honest about her own figure, insisting no one looks like a model when splashing around in the water.
‘We’ve all got our body hang-ups, but what we have to remember is that nobody looks like an airbrushed Instagram picture around the swimming pool,’ she told us. ‘[We’re] all shapes and sizes, we’re all human.
‘I’m so glad I was part of the last generation that grew up without phones, without social media. The pressure on people is unbelievable. All my Instagram pictures, none of them have been airbrushed – not that I’d know how, I’m the least technical person!
‘I love a filter as much as the next person, but they’re not airbrushed. I’ve got young cousins, I don’t want them to think that’s the norm, and that people look like that.
‘That’s a big thing in people’s heads, they’re constantly seeing pictures of perfection in swimsuits.’

Catherine revealed she’s able to ‘switch off’ when getting in the pool (Picture: On the Beach/PinPep)
Honestly, so much yes.
Catherine – who is mum to four-year-old son Alfie – also revealed she has been through days she ‘doesn’t feel great’, but forgets all about her insecurities after just a few laps.
’It’s about realising that, when you walk up to your local leisure centre or swim at beach, everybody is normal. All wonderful shapes and sizes, everybody looks different. Everyone’s just having fun. And that’s what it’s about,’ she continued.
‘I have days where I don’t feel great in a swimsuit. But I’ll go to the edge of the pool, drop my towel or sarong at the last minute, I’ll get in and once I’m in, I feel great. Once I’ve done a few laps, I feel even better about myself. I get out and I’m not bothered about putting the towel back around me. The benefits are just endless.
‘I’ve got wobbly bits, I’ve got stretch marks. I’m getting in [the pool] with my son and having such a laugh. We’re getting fit at the same time, we’re building up our confidence, and just having the best time.

Catherine explained son Alfie loves being in the water (Picture: On the Beach/PinPep)
‘Not only are the health benefits absolutely endless, it’s extremely therapeutic and raises serotonin, it raises endorphins in the brain. When I’m swimming, I switch off, which is really therapeutic for me, it’s a bit of stress relief. It can be extremely relaxing.’
Catherine has teamed up with On The Beach over their free family swimming sessions, something she branded a ‘no brainer’.
‘I wanted to get involved straight away, I think it’s a brilliant idea. Swimming has always been something I’ve loved, and it has always been very important to me to instil. Alfie was six-weeks-old when we first took him in the pool,’ she added. ‘And it’s something I do all the time.
‘I think, in this day and age, especially with all the technology that we’ve got, unfortunately statistically it has been proved people are spending more time on their phone or tablets around the pool, than they are actually getting in.
‘When we’re on holiday, we’re never out of the pool. We tend to leave our phones in the safe, to really not be distracted, and encourage that family time, get in the pool and just have fun with Alfie.’
