I am a seven time Tetris world champion

Tetris World Championships
Being a Tetris champion became a huge part of my identity (Picture: Classic Tetris YouTube)

This week, Tetris turns 35 years old.

I played my first official game of Tetris when I was eight, but it wasn’t until high school I realised I was actually pretty good at it.

During my senior year, I would routinely interrupt study sessions with Tetris and friends eventually came over to simply watch me play.

It took me 13 years to achieve a maximum score of 999,999. I hadn’t been playing continuously up until that time however, and many new players can achieve this maxout score in less than a year.

Back when I was a teenager in the 90s, the community of Tetris players felt very small, and existed only on message boards.

There were only a handful of players that could achieve a top score and the only proof we had of our achievements were poorly scanned photos of scores and the only trophies we got were temporary high score bragging rights.

I continued to play the game casually in my 20s but one day decided to record one of my maxout games. That video got uploaded to YouTube by a Tetris enthusiast and was viewed 50,000 times.

The video caught the eye of a documentary filmmaker named Adam Cornelius who was planning the first ever officially recognised Tetris tournament as the climax to his next film. This tournament became the first Classic Tetris World Championships (CTWC) in 2010. I ended up winning and my exploits are recorded in the Ecstasy of Order documentary that was released the following year.

I have since won seven of the nine CTWC, placing second in the other two.

My performance at these tournaments has taken me to Hong Kong and Spain, where the mayor of a small city called Albacete gave me a ceremonial knife. I have become an international ambassador of the game and love to challenge competitors around the globe in exhibition matches. I plan on traveling to Taipei in July to continue this effort.

People always think I’m the one to call when they’re packing a suitcase or organising a storage unit – and if you want that suitcase filled in 10 seconds or less, I am your man.

Tetris has helped me make quick and plentiful decisions in everyday life. Have you ever been to a restaurant with a 12 page menu? I can scan the choices and make a decision almost immediately without a shred of regret. Even if they bring me the wrong order, I’ll make it work.

The CTWC is held in Portland, Oregon in October of each year. Many Tetris enthusiasts talk block, and the parties and get-togethers surrounding the tournament have become as important as the event itself.

Some of the people I encountered on those message boards back in the 90s now also compete in the current CTWC.

It still is unbelievable that a simple yet addicting video game has been such a powerful force in my life.

As of May this year, I have transitioned from working in a bar to playing Tetris on Twitch as my full-time occupation.  I still play a lot of Tetris (about 15 hours a week), but have also branched out to other games and I’ve even started giving private lessons offline to players.

Being a Tetris champion became a huge part of my identity and I struggled with accepting my decline in competitive ranking over the past couple of years.

In video game years, I’m an old codger compared to younger, faster players. The modern style of play is incredibly different to what I am used to, but I am trying to get better at it.

Even though the level of competition has risen each year, I still have so much fun sharing my passion for this wonderful, rewarding game. The community that has grown around the tournaments has been exceptional.

I’m hoping to transition more towards a tournament commentator and ambassador of Tetris in the coming years.

The Olympics are looking at adding a video game to their event portfolio and I can’t think of a better, more internationally recognised game than Tetris. It would be so incredible to coach the USA team in a jumpsuit holding a clipboard.

If Tetris has taught me anything over the past 35 years it is to roll with the punches and have as much fun as possible before I top-out.

Mackenzie Crook effortlessly transforms into the classic character Worzel Gummidge for two new films to be shown on the BBC.

The actor has written and directed two one hour films inspired by Barbara Euphan Todd’s classic books about a talking scarecrow who got up to mischief on Scatterbrook farm.

The new stories will bring Worzel’s adventures to life for viewers all ages.

In the first episode The Scarecrow Of Scatterbrook, two children Susan and John, arrive meet Worzel shortly after arriving in Scatterbrook. At first they believe he is an ordinary scarecrow, but are stunned when he suddenly comes to life. And Worzel is equally to stunning to learn Susan and John aren’t other scarecrows but humans.

The second episode, called The Green Man, introduces the titular character – the creator and keeper of scarecrow lore. And he doesn’t like Worzel talking to humans. We will also meet local artistocrat Lady Bloomsbury Barton whose scarecrow competition Worzel is determined to win. But he has stiff competition from rival Soggy Bogart.

Mackenzie said he was ‘thrilled’ to be working with the BBC again as well as members of the crew on his other show The Detectorists.

‘Adapting Barbara Euphan Todd’s books into these two films has been a joy and I’ve completely fallen for her charming, irreverent scarecrow. Fingers crossed for a glorious English summer as we head out to Scatterbrook Farm and Worzel’s Ten Acre Field,’ he said.

Shane Allen, Controller Comedy Commissioning at the BBC, added: ‘Mackenzie’s widely adored and multi-BAFTA award winning Detectorists was a grown up love letter to bucolic England and with Worzel he takes a similar approach to English folklore, rural rites and the magic of childhood.

‘His visionary and fundamental reinterpretation of this classic is that rare and special achievement – a BBC One family friendly comedy.’

The TV adaptation last aired in 1987 with actor Jon Pertwee as Worzel

Worzel Gummidge is set to air later this year.

Jennifer Aniston, we don’t want a Friends reboot so please leave it alone

$

Friends has been on a break now for 15 years, and just about accepted that it’s never coming back – until Jennifer Aniston threw some fuel on the fire of a reboot this week and it’s time for someone to stop her.

Look, we loved the show as much as the next Netflix binge watcher, and it’s impossible to deny how big an impact one sitcom had on pop culture, the way we talk and the careers of the famous ensemble.

But that was then, and this is now, and it’s probably time we all stop begging for something we really don’t want as much as we might think we do.

Let’s get the obvious bits out of the way. Sequels are basically never as good. It’s a solid rule for Hollywood, and it works just as well here. No matter how charming it might be, there’s always something of the original spark missing, with innovation and excitement traded for nostalgia and cheap pops.

Even Joey – the lone and horribly misguided attempt at a spin-off which premiered the very same year Friends came off the air – showed that while everyone might think the appetite is there, there’s a very high chance we’ll all be left bitterly disappointed.

No one wants to see Friends ruin its own legacy, and all a reunion – whether a film, a one off episode or heaven forbid a full series – would do is remind us that it was an amazing show at the time, but the world and its audience have moved on.

Friends cast
Can we just leave Friends alone? (Picture: Warner Bros)

Our comedy tastes have changed, with TV itself becoming more about an ‘event’. Sitcoms are smarter with the likes of Parks and Rec, Always Sunny In Philadelphia taking over the mantle and rendering a reboot largely redundant.

Even How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory – perhaps the closest to following the Friends model of seeing a group of 20-somethings going about their day to day lives – had a bit of a spin to make things more interesting.

Of course, Friends set the groundwork for every sitcom that followed, with its core crew – in case you needed refreshing, that’s Joey, Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica and Phoebe – one-liners and overarching storylines proving so memorable even 15 years down the line.

But really – do we want to risk ruining that on an idea that really isn’t that good?

While Jennifer has said she and her fellow cast mates – including Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry – would love to see a reunion, the evidence doesn’t quite back that up. The actors have moved on, and we should do.

Central Perk would almost definitely be a Starbucks in 2019 (Picture: NBC)

The arguments from them are valid, too. Friends was a show about, well… friends living together, finding their way in the wider world as they navigated through love, loss, work, and everything in between. Do we really need to see where they ended up well over a decade later? Does it really matter?

The upcoming Gavin & Stacey Christmas special avoids this kind of criticism, because the focus was on the family, the relationships and seeing how they all fit together. There’s a genuine interest in seeing where they are now. The same can’t really be said for Friends.

There’s also the issue of changes in society, which has already been proven by the droves of articles about millennials watching old episodes only to be offended by the very different attitudes on display. We’re not here to debate issues of taste, but a modern Friends would naturally be a whole other beast.

Lisa put it best when she recently said: ‘They’re rebooting everything. I don’t know how that works with Friends, though. That was about people in their 20s, 30s. The show isn’t about people in their 40s, 50s. And if we have the same problems, that’s just sad.’

She’s right.

We miss it so much because of what it was – but a reunion something unrecognisable to the days of Central Perk, which would almost definitely now be a Starbucks.

Go back and binge the classics if you want, because no one is taking those away from you. But the actors, the team, and a lot of the fans have grown older and moved on. It’s time everyone else does too.

Friends is currently available to stream on Netflix, plays on loop pretty much all day everyday on Comedy Central and is now gradually starting to take over Channel 5.

Chloe Green walked the red carpet solo amid claims her relationship with Jeremy Meeks is on the rocks.

The 28-year-old attended the Cash & Rocket Gala at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum looking radiant in a ballgown, but didn’t look too overjoyed as she posed for pictures.

The Topshop heiress wore a Ralph & Russo dress featuring a ruffled black skirt and a metallic structured bodice, adding even more glam with dramatic eye make-up and diamond earrings.

Chloe was attending the gala ahead of competing in Cash & Rocket – a four-day charity drive from London to Monte Carlo in aid of women’s charities in South Africa and Sierra Leone.

This outing comes days after Jeremy, 35, missed their son’s first birthday party.

While Chloe threw a party for baby Jayden in Monaco, Meeks – aka the ‘Hot Felon’ – was in Los Angeles.

This has sparked speculation that Chloe and Jeremy are on the rocks again, despite Meeks insisting they were going strong just weeks ago.

The model, who rose to fame in 2014 after his mugshot went viral, was forced to speak out after he attended Cannes Film Festival not with Chloe, but with model Andreea Sasu.

After putting on the cosy display on the red carpet, Jeremy shared a selfie with Chloe to Instagram and wrote: ‘We are still very much in love lol.’

The couple have been dating since 2017, with Jeremy popping the question to Chloe during her pregnancy.

However, this year, the heiress has been spotted without her engagement ring, leading to speculation that they’re close to a split.

In February, Chloe returned to her home in Monaco from a romantic break to Dubai after she and Jeremy argued in the Cavalli Club.

She went on to ignore Jeremy’s gushing tribute to her birthday in March, which read: ‘You are the most amazing person I’ve ever met and I’m so blessed to have you in my life and there’s NO ONE else I’d rather spend the rest of my life with.

‘You’re an amazing mom and I’ll love you FOREVER….. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Green’s rep for comment.

Leonardo DiCaprio took his beloved mother to Diana Ross’ 75th birthday recently, but this time it was his father’s turn to enjoy the glitz and glam of a night out in Hollywood.

The Oscar-winning actor was joined by his father, George, at the premiere of his new climate change documentary Ice on Fire on Wednesday night.

Held at the LA County Museum of Art, the pair made all the effort and rocked up to the red carpet event all suited and booted.

While Leo somehow managed to miss being snapped with his dad, George did pose for photos on the red carpet with his granddaughter Normandie Farrar.

However, George, 75, wasn’t simply Leo’s plus one to the premiere as he is actually credited as an executive producer of the project.

Directed by Leila Conners, Fire on Ice is described as an ‘eye-opening’ documentary that will focus on ‘many never-before-seen solutions’ that are designed to slow down the ‘escalating environmental crisis’.

According to HBO’s synopsis: ‘The film goes beyond the current climate change narrative and offers hope that we can actually stave off the worst effects of global warming.’

Leo, 44, has campaigned to fight climate change since 1998 and was appointed a United Nations representative on environmental issues in 2014.

In the trailer, the actor narrates: ‘The melting of the world’s snow and ice has now triggered multiple climate tipping points, especially increasing levels of methane. Scientists have discovered solutions giving us a chance at reversing climate change.

‘But the clock is ticking.’

Leo has spoken fondly of his bond with his father George over the years.

In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, he recalled: ‘The earliest memory I have is me at some hippie concert with my dad and the band hadn’t come on.

‘There was an audience of hundreds of people chanting for the band, and my dad scooted me on stage–I don’t know how old I was, probably three or so–and I got up there and tap danced for hundreds of people.’

Ice on Fire is set to premiere on HBO in the US on 11 June.

Amanda Holden ‘doesn’t want Phillip Schofield in her house’ as she hints there’s still bad blood

Amanda Holden vs Phillip Schofield
Amanda didn’t hold back on her thoughts of Phillip Schofield (Picture: Heart)

Amanda Holden has re-sparked old rumours that she’s fallen out with This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield during a quickfire question session on Heart Radio.

The Britain’s Got Talent star has been taking over the airwaves alongside Jamie Theakston for the morning breakfast show, and made the comment live on-air.

Asked about three things she doesn’t want to find in her home, she quickly retorted: ‘Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.’

Amanda’s comments come months after it she was allegedly dropped from presenting This Morning alongside Phillip at the regular host’s request.

The role, which eventually went to Rochelle Humes, was to replace Holly Willoughby while she filmed I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here at the end of 2018.

As a result, Amanda was said to have ‘awkwardly confronted’ Schofe on the snub during an appearance on the show.

‘She made it clear that she felt very let down. He was lost for words but didn’t have much time to respond to Amanda’s claims because the show was going back on air,’ an insider reportedly told The Sun.

‘Neither of them realised that Amanda could be overheard by most of the team because she was still wearing her mic pack.’

Amanda had previously covered for Holly in 2014 during maternity leave from the show, with Phillip admitting that it could be stressful as she ‘kept him on his toes.’

‘She has a faulty edit button and she forgets she’s on the telly, which is enormously endearing and funny, but occasionally quite scary,’ the 56-year-old told Heat magazine at the time.

So…haven’t sorted things out then?

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.

Will there be a second series of Sky Atlantic/HBO drama Chernobyl?

Chernobyl is on its way to being one of the most acclaimed series of all time (Picture: HBO)

Harrowing drama Chernobyl has not only been one of the small screen hits of 2019 but is on its way to being one of the most acclaimed shows of all time.

The Sky Atlantic/HBO show, which recounts the events of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986 and its aftermath, came to an end in the UK on Tuesday night, having kept viewers gripped throughout.

And with the show having soared to the top of the IMDB list of best shows of all time – outdoing David Attenborough’s Planet Earth II – it’s no surprise to learn that viewers have been asking if a follow-up series could happen.

What are the chances, then, that the story could continue in a second season? Here’s what you need to know…

Will there be a second series of Chernobyl?

In short, the answer is – no there won’t be.

Despite reports that there could be another season of the acclaimed drama creator Craig Mazin has confirmed that it isn’t happening.

Mazin took to social media following an interview with Decider, where he discussed possibilities on how the drama might continue.

‘All due respect to Decider, but the definitive answer to the headline’s question “Will there be a season 2 of Chernobyl?” is “No.”.

He pretty much confirmed this in the interview itself, saying that it was always intended to be a miniseries, and that originally was supposed to comprise six episodes – but that he combined one instalment to make it a five-parter.

Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin tweets
(Picture: Twitter)

While Chernobyl may not be returning, though, Mazin hasn’t ruled out the possibility that he could make a similar series with HBO, based on another disaster.

‘If I came to HBO and said, “I want to do another season of Chernobyl, except it’s gonna be about another terrible tragedy,” whether it’s Bhopal or Fukushima or something like that, I would imagine they at least would give me polite interest,’ he explained.

‘The disaster is not what drew me to Chernobyl. It’s the specifics of Chernobyl,’ he continued. ‘If I were to continue this anthologically, probably it would be another investigation of another aspect of Soviet life because that part is something that is fascinating to me and kind of exciting to view again.’

Where can you watch Chernobyl?

Cardi B has cancelled her headlining set at Parklife this weekend, to concentrate on recovering from plastic surgery.

The Press rapper was set to headline the Manchester festival this Sunday.

However, last night, the festival confirmed she will no longer be performing.

A statement read: ‘As some of you will have seen, Cardi B was forced to cancel some performances in May. The Parklife team have just been notified that Cardi now also needs to pull out of Parklife this weekend.

‘As such, there will be some changes to the previously advertised line-up, stage splits and times. We are working on this currently.

‘We are very sorry for the late norice but have only just had confirmation from Cardi’s team that she will not be able to perform. We all remain super excited for Parklife this weekend and cannot wait to see you in a completelt transformed Heaton Park.’

This comes weeks after the 26-year-old cancelled the remainder of her tour dates after experiencing complications with her recent boob job and liposuction.

Cardi said of the cancellations: ‘You know, I hate cancelling shows because I love money. I’m a money addict and I get paid a lot of money. A lot of money for these shows, like I’m cancelling millions of dollars in shows.’

‘But like, health is wealth, so I have to do what I have to do. My breasts gotta f***ing heal, and it is what it is.’

She had previously told fans at her performance at Beale Street Music Festival: ‘I should have cancelled today. I shouldn’t really be performing because moving too much is gonna f**k up my lipo. But b***h I’m still gonna get my motherf***ing money back, let’s go.’

The statement from Cardi’s reps was a little more official and a lot less sweary: ‘Cardi was overzealous in getting back to work, she didn’t take the time necessary to fully recover from her surgery.

‘Her strenuous schedule has taken a toll on her body and she has been given strict doctors orders to pull out of the rest of her performances in May.’

According to People, Cardi’s exterior stitches have all healed but the interior stitches take longer to get stage ready.

This cancellation comes a year after Cardi cancelled her headlining spot at Wireless after announcing she was pregnant with daughter Kulture.

The star’s husband Offset is still expected to play at Parklife with his group Migos.

When is the first Love Island 2019 recoupling?

Will the love triangle between Tommy Fury (left) Lucie Dolan and Joe Garratt be resolved? (Picture: ITV)

At long last, Love Island 2019 is here, and after the long wait, it’s taken roughly five minutes for the Islanders to stir up drama.

We’re only a few days into season five of Love Island, and there’s already been tears, jealousy and drama galore.

The show isn’t, erm, showing any signs of slowing down either, with the first official recoupling due to happen very soon…

When is the first recoupling on Love Island 2019?

Throughout the series, the contestants will be made to chose en masse whether or not they want to stay in the couples that they’re currently in, or move on and couple up with someone else.

This process is called recoupling, and it can only happen on select occasions, with the first one due to happen at the end of the week – meaning we’ll see it on screen on either Friday 7 or Sunday 9 June.

Even though season five started less than a week ago, we’ve already seen two late-comers Tommy Fury and Curtis Pritchard choose to couple up with Lucie Donlan and Amy Hart respectively.

While this was technically not a full-scale recoupling, since none of the other contestants had a say in whether or not they’d remain in their couples, it did result in the split of Amy and Anton Danyluk and Lucie and Joe Garratt.

The separation of Lucie and Joe has been particularly beefy, with Lucie’s coupling with Tommy causing Joe to get pretty jealous, even though he’s only known Lucie for a couple of days.

Will this week’s recoupling resolve this love triangle once and for all?

Only time will tell…

We have some questions, Lucifer (Picture: Netflix)

When Netflix will announce season five has become as tense as the sexual chemistry between Lucifer and The Detective.

But surely, with four weeks as the most binged show on Netflix, it’s only a matter of time – but patience isn’t our strong suit.

After getting some professional help on how Lucifer and Chloe can make things work in the upcoming episodes, we’re now more determined than ever to see the day Deckerstar get together.

But how exactly, is that going to happen? It’s just one of the questions we have as we wait to here more about the show’s fate…

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for season four. Go catch up and come back).

How are Lucifer and Chloe going to reunite?

This is the biggie for all fans watching the show – we know at this point that Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), has fallen in love with Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).

So now what? Things aren’t going to be easy for them considering just as he professed his love he revealed he had to return to hell because the demons were getting out of hand.

Heartbroken in the City Of Angels, Chloe isn’t someone to let things go that easily, and Lucifer is hardly one to resist temptation and maybe go and visit her.

So they have a lot of logistics to figure out to get our beloved Deckerstar up and running.

Netflix's Lucifer (Tom Ellis) in season 4 recap (Picture: Netflix)
What will happen to Chloe and Lucifer? (Picture: Netflix)

When will Detective Dan and Ella figure out Lucifer’s true identity?

I mean…let’s be honest here, the humans are a bit blind when it comes to Lucifer being the devil (despite him literally telling them all the time).

Even Chloe took three whole seasons to realise what she should’ve already known.

But now Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and Ella (Aimee Garcia) are the last two of the gang that don’t know for sure – so surely, at some point, they should be let in on the secret.

Problem is, Dan is ambivalent towards Lucifer at the best of times – so we don’t see him taking the revelation too well.

But we reckon Ella could use knowing this piece of information, especially as she’s been having a crisis of faith lately. She’ll still love Lucifer (because she loves everyone) and her beliefs will be given a new bit of affirmation she needs.

What the hell is going on between Dan and Ella, anyway?

In one of the biggest cases of “Woah, we did not see that one coming!”, Detective Dan and Ella got freaky in the lab during a particular vulnerable moment for both of them.

And that’s saying something considering this show.

But what does that mean going forward? Are they going to try and give their romance a go? Maybe Ella will be able to soften those hard edges Dan has built up.

Or maybe it’s just going to be one of those things chalked up to a moment of madness.

Netflix
Maze fell hard for Eve’s charms (Picture: Netflix)

Are Eve and Maze going to get together?

We have to admit, our hearts broke a little bit as Maze laid herself out on the line and professed her love for Eve – only to have the Original Sinner herself too blind to notice it.

With Eve hell bent on getting Lucifer to love her, things got complicated for poor Maze, who had no choice but to pine over someone who saw her only as a friend.

However, they made one hell of a team, with the way-too-naïve Eve learning a lot as Maze’s new right hand gal.

But at the end of the season, there was a glimmer of hope for the potential couple after all, with Maze confessing her true feelings… before Eve ran away to find herself.

Could she come back for her girl? Or will Maze finally get the love she’s looking for?

Lucifer season 4 - Amenadiel and his sister
Angels aren’t always as nice and helpful as you’d assume (Picture: Netflix)

What angels are going to be dropping by?

Despite their title, it’s never actually the best thing when an angel drops by unannounced in Los Angeles to visit Lucifer and Amenadiel (DB Woodside).

With the arrival of baby Charlie, the world’s first half-angel half-human, there’s going to be a lot of questions, and potential fighting over where the tot belongs.

Even Amenadiel was questioning if Earth was the best place for him to be last year, and Remiel (Vinessa Vidotto) even came down to Earth in order to snatch the baby from his mother.

But then we have Azrael (Charlyne Yi), the Angel of Death who appeared as a spirit guide for her ‘favourite person’ Ella, guiding her to her other favourite person, brother Lucifer, because she wanted them both to have company.

Basically, they’re a mixed bag, and with so many angels yet to show their faces, it’s easy to see who will be winging their way to LA sometime soon for drinks at Luxe.

Lucifer Marcus Pierce Cian
Could Marcus, or someone worse, reappear in Hell? (Picture: Amazon Prime Video)

Who’s making a comeback?

This is another biggie because in a recent Q+A with Tom Ellis and showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, it was revealed that Lucifer will be running into some familiar faces in Hell.

Now, who that might be is completely open – because there’s been a lot of souls heading down that way over the past few seasons.

Confirming it was “someone that Lucifans know well”, Ildy teased: ‘Hitler?’ to which Joe replied: ‘Probably’.

Despite his insistence he’s heading to Heaven, is Marcus Pierce (aka the world’s first killer Cain) actually down in Hell? Because if he is, well, he’s probably going to have something to say about it.

Throw in the fact his mum Eve is now out of Heaven too, and things will be getting pretty complicated.

Netflix reveals Lucifer's devil face from season 4
The Lord of the Underworld is going to have his work cut out for him (Picture: Netflix)

Are we going to meet Adam anytime soon?

After being with him since literally the beginning of time, Eve broke free from husband Adam in Heaven and headed back down to Earth for some fun with Lucifer.

While that’s all fine and dandy, obviously being with him for so long has left its effect, and there’s nothing technically stopping him from coming down after her, even though he didn’t during season four.

Could he finally be showing his face in season five to try and retrieve his wife.

Can Charlie fly?

There is no one in the Lucifer universe that has handled all the drama thrown at her like an absolute champ quite like Dr Linda (Rachael Harris).

But we’re pretty sure not even she was prepared to give birth to a half-baby, half-human.

While it’s not yet know if and when Charlie will grow wings, and what he’ll do when he has them, it seems that Linda and Amenadiel are about to have their hands full either way.

As if potty training or disciplining a child wasn’t difficult enough anyway…

Does Trixie know about Lucifer?

Chloe Decker and Detective Dan’s child is, quite frankly, one of the coolest kids on the planet – and she has more chill when it comes to Lucifer than both her parents combined.

She’s also proven to be a pretty good judge of character, and even Lucifer has vowed to protect her at all costs.

While it could be put down to the pure innocence of a youngster, is there a chance that Trixie actually already knows about Lucifer’s alternate side?

If not, how’s she going to react when she finds out?

Lucifer seasons 1, 2 and 3 is available on Amazon Prime Video, with season 4 on Netflix.

A new act on America’s Got Talent has drawn comparisons to Harry Styles by judge Simon Cowell.

In the latest episode, Benicio Bryant, 14, impressed judges Simon, Gabrielle Union, Howie Mandel and Julianne Hough with a stunning cover of Brandi Carlisle’s The Joke.

The whole audition, however, reminded Simon of one particular One Direction alumni member. Clue? It’s the one your mother likes the most.

Speaking on the show, Simon said: ‘To anyone who hasn’t been on that stage, when you walk on it’s terrifying. I could see how scared and nervous you were, yet you pulled it together.

‘There’s something about you. And for some reason you remind me of the first time I auditioned Harry Styles, he had this presence about him. I think you’re a real find.’

Benicio secured four yeses to make it through to the next stage of the competition, but will he go onto secure worldwide fame in a boyband before emulating Mick Jagger? No pressure.

Styles was last seen sporting some eye-catching attire at the Met Gala 2019, as speculation whirls around when his second solo album will be released.

This year’s series of America’s Got Talent has already dished out two golden buzzers, with Howie giving his to 21-year-old singer-songwriter Joseph Allen.

He follows the first golden buzzer act and fellow singer Kodi Lee, who is blind and autistic.

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays on NBC in the US and Thursday on Netflix UK.

Sorry, the video was not found

Actor Rafe Spall has revealed it was his big mouth that saw him dropped from almost getting cast as Doctor Who.

The Men In Black International actor, 36, shares the hilarious but unfortunate anecdote on tonight’s There’s Something About Movies on Sky One at 9pm.

‘I got quite close to being Doctor Who,’ he told host Alan Carr.

Rafe was warned by series bosses not to utter a word of the casting to anyone.

‘But they said to me right, “This is top secret, there’s one condition when you come in to be Doctor Who, you can’t tell a soul.”’

He then added: ‘I told everyone. I told literally everyone that I knew.’

Unfortunately word that Rafe was blabbing about being the Timelord got back to the BBC bosses.

‘It got back to them,’ he told the shocked panel.

‘People from Doctor Who were calling up my agent saying, “We’ve heard Rafe has been blabbing his mouth off, that’s it, it’s done.”’

And that was the end of that.

‘That’s why I’m not Doctor Who,’ he joked.

‘So don’t tell me any secrets!’

Rafe is appearing on the movie-themed panel show this week with Micky Flanagan and Michael Sheen.

There’s Something About Movies airs tonight on Sky One at 9pm.

Ellen Pompeo had fought to end the ‘toxic’ atmosphere on the Grey’s Anatomy set.

Ellen, who plays the lead Meredith Grey, revealed that the show had become an unpleasant place to work ‘for 10 years’ due to ‘serious culture issues and very bad behaviour’ to the point she started to consider leaving the role.

Eventually things became so bad that she asked showrunner Shonda Rhimes to get involved.

She said: ‘After Season 10, we had some big shifts in front of the camera, behind the camera. It became my goal to have an experience there that I could be happy and proud about, because we had so much turmoil for 10 years.

‘My mission became, “This can’t be fantastic to the public and a disaster behind the scenes”.

‘Shonda Rhimes and I decided to rewrite the ending of this story. That’s what’s kept me (here).

‘Patrick Dempsey left the show in Season 11, and the studio and network believed the show could not go on without the male lead. So I had a mission to prove that it could. I was on a double mission.’

The actress, 49, added that her family played a part in her deciding to stick with the hospital drama.

‘Once I started having kids, it became no longer about me,’ she told Variety’s Actors On Actors series. ‘I need to provide for my family. At 40 years old, where am I ever going to get this kind of money? I need to take care of my kids.’

Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy ended last month.

Grey’s Anatomy airs on ABC in the US, and NOW TV in the UK.

Jeff Brazier has remembered his ex Jade Goody with a heartfelt tribute on what would have been her 38th birthday.

Jade, best known for appearing on Big Brother, died in March 2009 at the age of 27 following a battle with cervical cancer and would have turned 38 on 5 June.

To mark the occasion, Jeff, 40, shared a touching montage of photos of Jade with their two sons Bobby and Freddie, who were aged just five and four when the reality TV star died.

In the heartfelt Instagram post, Jeff reveals he and the boys had a ‘small gathering’ and ‘raised a glass in [Jade’s] memory’, while also using it as an opportunity to celebrate Bobby’s 16th birthday.

The TV presenter wrote: ‘My heart aches for all of the love and affection the boys have had to go without in her absence and for all she missed of their childhood, those precious stolen moments deprived of a fiercely strong and proud Mother.

‘My thanks to those that came along as well as those who couldn’t make it always showing the boys that they have many good people supporting their every step.

‘It was also Bobbys 16th this week so we celebrated getting him there in one piece and all the promise his future holds [sic].’

https://www.instagram.com/p/ByWMDQhAPur/

He finished the post with the hashtags: ‘#HBDJade #HBDBob #Family #Support #Love #Guidance #Effort #Appreciation #Remember.’

One of the sweet throwback photos shows Jade cradling Bobby and Freddie as small children with crowns on their heads. Another shows the group enjoying Bobby’s birthday dinner with family and friends, including Jeff’s wife Kate Dwyer, whom he married in 2018.

Jeff recently recalled the moment he told Bobby and Freddie, now 14, that Jade had terminal cancer.

During an episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in April, Jeff said: ‘The last 10 years have been f*****g difficult. My children losing their mum.

‘I’ve had to become a certain version of myself. I’ve had to become very safe, reliable, responsible for my two kids.’

Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk’s relationship is believed to be on the rocks, with the Russian model moving out of their family home.

And Bradley, 44, kept his head down amidst the news as he headed out in Malibu with a friend.

The A Star Is Born actor and director covered up in a cap as he grabbed a coffee with a pal in the Californian town.

Bradley, dressed in a jumper and tracksuit bottoms, carried a large suitcase while his friend hauled a large paper bag and an over-the-shoulder bag alongside him.

This sighting comes amidst the news that the star’s relationship with Irina, 33, is hanging by a thread, with the model thinking ‘it would be best’ to get a place of her own.

A source told The Sun that things were ‘cooling off’ and predicted that there was ‘not much longer left’ between the two of them.

A second source appeared to corroborate the claims when they told UsWeekly: ‘They haven’t been getting along for a while. They aren’t calling it quits yet, but they are not in a great place.’

And Page Six suggested neither Irina nor Bradley were happy in the relationship.

Their source claimed: ‘Because of their daughter, they keep trying. Things are not good. Neither one is happy. The relationship is hanging by a thread.’

Bradley and Irina have been together since 2015, and went on to have daughter, Lea De Seine, in March 2017.

However, their romance came under a microscope during awards season, particularly after Bradley performed a very intense and intimate version of Shallow with Lady Gaga at the Oscars.

Irina allegedly unfollowed Gaga on social media after the event, amid claims she was ‘sick of all the stories’ about Bradley and Gaga.

Even Bradley’s ex-wife Jennifer Esposito had a laugh about the suggestion that the duo were sleeping together.

Only last month, Bradley skipped the Met Gala 2019, leaving girlfriend Irina to walk the red carpet alone.

Fortunately for her, she didn’t run into Lady Gaga, who was hosting the 2019 gala.

Bradley was previously married to actress Jennifer for just six months from 2006 to 2007, and has since dated Zoe Saldana and Suki Waterhouse.

Meanwhile, Irina was previously in a five-year relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, which ended in 2015.

Joe Jonas nearly encountered very awkward territory with wife Sophie Turner, having almost kissed her stunt double while filming Game Of Thrones.

Sophie, 23, married Joe, 29, in a spontaneous Las Vegas wedding after the Billboard Music Awards last month, but he might’ve just been thankful he wedded the right person following a mishap on the Game Of Thrones set.

Speaking to Nova’s Smallzy’s Surgery on Thursday, Sophie, who plays Sansa Stark, recalled how her husband nearly kissed her double while filming.

‘On Game Of Thrones actually I had a photo double that people would do double takes at because she looked so much like me,’ Sophie said. ‘It was insane.

‘Even Joe went up to her at one point and tried to give her a kiss and he was like, “Oh, sorry, sorry it’s not Sophie, wrong one!”’

The problem of mistaking doubles didn’t become an issue on set of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, however, with Sophie adding: ‘They don’t really look like me.

‘First of all, they are much fitter, have much more muscle and just better looking aesthetically in general.’

Game Of Thrones came to a controversial end last month, with attention now turning toward the number of spin-offs in the works.

The first spin-off, provisionally titled Bloodmoon, boasts an all-star cast including Naomi Watts, Miranda Richardson, John Simm, and more.

An official synopsis reads: ‘Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game Of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age Of Heroes into its darkest hour.

‘And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.’

Game Of Thrones Bloodmoon is scheduled to be released in 2020.

Jussie Smollett’s 911 call released by Chicago Police following Empire axe

Jussie Smollet’s 911 call has been released after his axe from Empire was confirmed.

The police have released two 911 calls reportedly made by the actor’s manager on the night the 36-year-old reported he was attacked in a racist and homophobic ambush.

Manager Frank Gatson made the calls around 40 minutes after Smollett returned to his apartment with a noose around his neck, according to the New York Post.

‘They put a noose around his neck…that’s pretty f***ed up to me,’ Mr Gatson could be heard saying in the audio.

Earlier this year, Smollett claimed that he was beaten up by two men who poured chemicals on him while yelling offensive slurs at him.

His manager first called 911 at 2.22am following the alleged attack on a Chicago street on 29 January.

The call continued: ‘I just need the police to come by, I work for an artist, I don’t really want to say his name.

‘He states he went to Subway … and two guys, somebody jumped him or something like that. I just want to report it and make sure he’s alright.’

When asked why Smollett wasn’t calling the authorities on his own accord, Mr. Gatson responded: ‘He was cool, he didn’t want me to call you guys.’

The emergency operator told the manager that Smollett is the only person who can file a police report.

‘He’s definitely gonna make the report. I’m gonna make him make the report,’ Gatson replied in the three-minute call before telling the dispatcher that his employer does not need medical attention.

He added: ‘I just think he’s startled. I’m scared and I don’t know what it is — They put a noose around his neck.

His character made television history  (Picture: FOX)

‘They didn’t do anything with it, but put it around his neck. That’s pretty f***ed up to me — sorry for saying it like that.’

Although the operator said she would alert the police Gatson called back 16 minutes later at 2:38 am to moan that the police had not turned up yet.

He began the second call saying: ‘I reported I’ve been waiting on the police. I thought they’d be here by now.’

The cops arrived during the end of that three-minute phone call.

The audio release comes as the actor’s work on Fox’s Empire was put on hold earlier this year, and he was removed from episodes after he was accused of faking the attack in order to gain leverage in a dispute over his contract.

However, all charges against him were later dropped amid claims his lawyers were contemplating a plea deal.

On the announcement, Smollett gave a statement outside court calling it ‘the worst time of his life.’

Jussie’s character Jamal Lyon was last seen making American TV history as the first black, gay couple to get married on screen, disappearing off into the sunset to start his new life.

FOX Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier announced the upcoming season six will be the show’s last.

**Some spoilers for The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 below**

The highly anticipated third season of The Handmaid’s Tale arrived back on Hulu in the US last night and fans are in a bit of a frenzy over what went down.

Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) continues to spark much debate among fans and now it looks like she is going rogue in the latest outing.

Following the season two finale in which she let June (Elisabeth Moss) escape with baby Nichole, the season two opener saw Serena return to her and Fred Waterford’s (Joseph Fiennes) home and burn it down.

But while some fans are embracing the villain’s new found rebellious streak, others aren’t ready to forgive her past actions.

One fan wrote: ‘Serena really burnt her marriage bed. That’s the level of petty I wanna be at. {Sips wine.}’

However, some are less than enthusiastic.

One fan tweeted: ‘Serena Joy gets half a finger chopped off and she loses her ever loving mind however handmaids get raped every month and experience torture amongst other things and I’m suppose to feel bad for Serena? Honey you got the wrong one #HandmaidsTale.’

Another agreed: ‘Honestly i have NO sympathy for Serena. She can honestly go to hell with the commander #Handmaidstale.’

Ultimately, what’s so good about the character is this conflict she inspires in the viewer.

You have to hand it to Yvonne Strahovski.

Ukraine’s Eurovision act Maruv calls winning song ‘mediocre’ and Hatari ‘forgettable’

Ukraine withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest this year after accusing their representative of ‘politicising’ the contest.

But it turns out the former Ukranian hopeful Maruv wasn’t impressed by what did make it to Tel Aviv.

The 27-year-old, real name Anna Korsun, has called Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence’s performance ‘mediocre’, as well as slating Icelandic entry Hatari.

And she believes had she made it to Tel Aviv, she could have out-classed most of the entrants.

Speaking to Svala+, the Siren Song singer said: ‘My chances were quite high. I think I would have definitely come in the top three.

‘I watched the performances, then watched my own from the [national] final, and I found mine more interesting. There was more action in mine than many of the performances from Eurovision.’

Of Icelandic band Hatari – who came 10th with their song Hatrio mun sigra – Maruv said: ‘We are not BDSM. I have fetish aesthetics, but [Hatrio mun sigra] came across like a punishment, like a flogging – I don’t know.

Maruv can’t remember Hatari’s song (Picture: AP)

‘Plus the song itself, do you remember their song? I couldn’t sing it back to you now. But I had a cool song that everyone remembers, that everyone can sing, and movements which went viral, that everyone knows.’

In fairness, we reckon some people remember Hatari, seeing as they held up the Palestinian flag during scoring and caused a total meltdown.

Maruv also laid into eventual winner Duncan Laurence of the Netherlands, despite praising his song Arcade.

She said: ‘A lot depends on the music. But there was no show. The way he sang on the stage was mediocre, but the song was great.’

Maruv was chosen by public vote to represent the Ukraine with her track Siren Song, which was tipped to be a contender in Tel Aviv.

However, just days later, the Ukrainian public broadcaster UA:PBC has said that her win did not automatically guarantee Maruv was going to perform in Tel Aviv, and claimed she was ‘politicising’ the contest.

They claimed that Maruv refused to sign a contract which temporarily banned her from performing in Russia amid tensions between the two countries.

The singer said that while she was willing to cancel her next Russian tour, other stipulations in the contract amounted to ‘censorship’.

She wrote on Facebook at the time: ‘I am a citizen of Ukraine, pay taxes and sincerely love Ukraine.

‘But I am not ready to address [people] with slogans, turning my participation in the contest into the promotion of our politicians. I am a musician, rather than a bat at the political stage.’

Ukraine then decided not to send a replacement representative to Israel to compete.

Despite her thoughts on the standards at Eurovision, Maruv isn’t keen on representing Ukraine in the future.

She said: ‘I wouldn’t do it, even if they call and offer extra money. I wouldn’t do it. Though it depends on how much they’re offering…’
