Paul Hollywood has finally given his first handshake of The Great British Bake Off 2019 during bread week – a mere three weeks in.

The no-nonsense critic saves the all-important gesture for contestants who hit the nail on the head when it comes to getting their bake exactly right, and trust us when we say, he only gives them out to the cream of the crop.

Michael Chakraverty was the chosen recipient of Paul’s handshake after his chilli flavoured tear ‘n’ share left the judge thoroughly impressed.

Before extending his arm, Paul complimented: ‘I like the coconut, the coconut works really well with it. The kick from the chill is enough, I just love the red around there.’

Gasps echoed through the infamous tent as Paul reached out and the others clapped with delight.

‘I really like that and I’ll tell you why I like it,’ Paul continued. ‘It’s because I’ve never had anything like it before and that’s what makes it special.’

Unsurprisingly, Michael was over the moon with winning Paul’s approval and told the cameras: ‘I’ve got the first handshake, that’s crazy.

‘My mum’s going to cry, she’s going to be so excited and I can’t wait to tell my friends and my mum.’

Michael also rose to the occasion in the burger buns technical challenge and was crowned star baker for his efforts.

Sadly though, it was home time for Amelia Le Bruin and she became the third casualty of the series.

‘I’ve always, always, always said that bread week for me would be about survival – and I just didn’t survive,’ she said before exiting.

Although Paul described Amelia as a ‘decident baker with sound ideas’ he noted that ‘she struggled in the signature and she was very low down in the technical as well.’

The Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.

Kevin Clifton has addressed claims he isn’t happy about being paired with Anneka Rice on Strictly Come Dancing, branding them ‘ridiculous’.

It was previously reported Kevin, 36, was ‘fuming’ after being paired with Anneka on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing launch show – with claims he saw it as punishment by BBC bosses for dating his previous partner Stacey Dooley.

Kevin has since addressed the claims on Twitter in response to fans, writing: ‘Oh it’s ridiculous I just laugh nowadays. As usual a completely made up story.’

After a fan asked if he’s ‘got the camel’ after being paired with Anneka, Kevin replied: ‘Course not. Shes ace [sic].’

Anneka recently posted a video following her first day of training with Kevin, and seemed particularly chuffed about their partnership.

‘I loved that so much,’ Anneka says in the clip. ‘Honestly Kevin I think that’s almost the best day I’ve had in my entire life.

‘I’m spoiled Kevin. I love you. I’m really buzzing as they say on Love Island.’

But will the pair go far in this year’s series? Kevin has a pretty consistent record on Strictly, having appeared in every year’s final since he joined the show in 2013, with the exception of 2017 when he was partnered with Susan Calman.

Last year, Kevin won the show with Stacey Dooley – with the pair striking up a romance since.

Strictly Come Dancing’s first live show kicks off on Saturday 21 September on BBC One.

Ex-BBC Breakfast host Bill Turnbull will be trying cannabis as he explores unconventional treatment methods for cancer in a heartbreaking new documentary.

The TV presenter revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis in March 2018 as he took part in Stand Up To Cancer’s Celebrity Great British Bake Off.

Now, after being given ten years to live, Bill is trying ‘unconventional’ methods to see if he can prolong his life, and is tracking his efforts in new film Bill Turnbull: Staying Alive.

‘This documentary shows Bill’s willing to do anything in a bid to beat the disease,’ a source told The Sun.

‘In this case it includes him trying a treatment which is considered unconventional — and even controversial.’

The show is also going to show the effect the diagnosis has had on his family – wife of 31 years Sarah McCombie, and their three children.

Bill admitted that he struggled with the chemotherapy sessions, nearly quitting after eight rounds of the treatment.

He later walked away from the therapy after coming to a ‘stalemate’ with his diagnosis.

After being diagnosed in November 2017, he used the Stand Up to Cancer platform to go public with his own battle, and said: ‘It’s like a dark cloud comes down, it’s a difficult moment.

Initially blaming his symptoms on older age, Bill had not been to see his GP for four years, and revealed that he was ‘not aware something was going rather wrong inside me’.

‘Those first few days were probably the worst days of my life. Horrible moment. That first moment is a real shell shock,’ he continued.

‘You can’t remember the precise words, you just remember the hammer blow.’

But he then added: ‘I really do think I’ve had a wonderful life, with amazing experiences as a reporter and a presenter.

‘And if it was all to end tomorrow, I couldn’t have any complaints. I’ve had a really marvellous time.’

Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey have dropped the teaser for their collaboration, Don’t Call Me Angel, and we are absolutely not ready for it.

The single – which will appear on the official Charlie’s Angels soundtrack, is out on 13 September, but the trio released a snippet on Twitter, alongside a seven-second-long clip.

In the brief video, they can be seen dressed all in black, walking down a corridor, while rocking huge black angel wings, as the song plays over the top.

We have absolutely no idea what is happening, but our wigs (and wings) have officially been snatched.

And, right on cue, fans went into complete and utter meltdown over the clip, which Ari tweeted for her 65.7million followers.

Amazon Prime’s fantasy drama Carnival Row might not have been the biggest hit with critics but it’s certainly been a hit with viewers.

The visually stunning series which stars Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom, dropped on to the streaming platform on 30 August and has certainly kept people talking with its murder mystery plot and steam-punk setting.

Of course one question everybody has been asking is – will we be getting a second series?

Here’s what you need to know on that front…

Will there be a season 2 of Carnival Row?

The good news, Carnival Row fans, is that yes indeed there will be a second series of the show.

In fact Amazon bosses had such faith in the eight-part drama that they confirmed a second series before the first one had even aired.

They announced season two at  the TCAs back in July – with the news also confirmed by writer Marc Bernardin on Instagram.

‘The worst kept secret is out…we know you’ll want more. This story is just the beginning,’ he said, adding ‘#CarnivalRow Season 2 is coming.’

We don’t know yet when the second series will be released, but you’ve got eight episodes of season one to binge-watch to your heart’s content until then.

What is Carnival Row about?

The series tells the story of forbidden love in an allegory centred on immigration and race, via a steam-punk fantasy land in which mythical creatures live out in the open.

The creatures are forced to adjust to their new life after humans invaded their home territories, and have started their own life centred around the titular Canival Row – but are struggling to survive.

Bloom stars as Detective Rycroft Philostrate, who is dealing with a case of gruesome murders threatening Carnival Row, while also being stuck in a dangerous love affair with fairy refusee Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne).

Her character is also hiding a secret past which could potentially spell disaster for them all.

Tekashi 6ix9ine has confirmed he will turn on his former gang members in a plea to cut down potential jail time on charges of racketeering.

A letter sent to Judge Engelmayer, filed on Monday 9 September by prosecutors on Tekashi’s 2018 kidnapping case, reveals the rapper – real name Daniel Hernandez, will spill the beans on other members of the Nine Trey Blood gang, including unveiling aliases which will link individuals to ‘incriminating texts, social media posts, DMs, and other communications’.

The rapper will also implicate himself in the process, but it is thought he struck a deal to limit the jail time he will face in return for his cooperation.

The letter also reveals that Tekashi was considered ‘bank’ for the gang and that he was responsible for making money and then distributing it among the others; Sources close to the gang allege that ‘lots of friction was created when Tekashi turned off the cash spigot’ and that was one of the reasons the gang turned on him and kidnapped him in July 2018.

Another part of the letter reveals the gang, including Tekashi, set out to harm rapper Casanova who wrote lyrics the gang felt were critical of Tekashi.

The performer is currently in prison facing charges of racketeering, conspiracy, firearms offences and drug trafficking; it is thought he sparked a deal after agreeing to speak in court over his claims that he was ‘pistol-whipped, robbed and kidnapped’ in July 2018.

Tekashi 6ix9ine shot to fame in 2017 after his single Gummo made it big; he’s known for his colourful hair and grills, along with his controversial attitude.

He has requested witness protection upon his release but his distinctive look and tattoos may pose a problem.

Sources connected to the case had previously alleged that the rapper is ‘worried about how his mother and brother could be harmed, and also for his own safety behind bars’.

It is thought he has already spent thousands of dollars on security for his mother.

Piers Morgan is still smarting after This Morning won their fourth TV Choice award in a row.

The Good Morning Britain presenter labelled the show’s team ‘snivelling little b******s’ in an expletive-filled rant at the event in London on Monday night.

Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby responded to his outburst on their show, dedicating their award to Piers.

Phil said: ‘So Piers Morgan, whose middle names are spittle and bile, if you want to pop in and hold it Piers, then we’ll leave it here for you so you can maybe come in and have your picture taken with it. We love you Piers.’

Piers fired back at Schofe with a racy joke on Wednesday morning’s show, saying: ‘Of all the offers I’ve had to pop in and hold it, from Phillip Schofield, that ain’t happening.’

The newsreader cackled as his co-host Susanna Reid, and members of the crew in the studio, burst out laughing.

Piers added: ‘I’m not popping in and I’m not holding it, Phillip.

‘I only want us to win so that we can mimic them when they won the other night.’

Susanna replied: ‘That will never ever, ever, ever happen.’

‘It will because we’ll be so excited at finally winning one,’ Piers said.

We can’t wait to hear what Phil has to say to that.

Piers was at the TV Choice Awards to present Lorraine Kelly with a trophy and used the moment to tear strips off This Morning.

He began: ‘Love you so much. Actually I don’t love you, I hate you, you snivelling little b*****ds. Every time we come to these things I am told it’s our time.’

To uproarious laughter, he added: ‘It’s never our time, it’s always their time, f**k you and f**k your awards.’

The best of British telly was honoured on the night with big successes for Line of Duty.

The crime drama, starring Martin Compston and Vicky McClure, scooped the gong for best drama series, while star Adrian Dunbar was named best actor for his role as Superintendent Ted Hastings.

He saw off competition from the likes of Bodyguard’s Richard Madden and Poldark star Aidan Turner.

This is not a drill – pop-punk royalty Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer are planning on doing a tour together and our inner 16-year-olds are screaming.

The aptly named Hella Mega Tour will see the three bands play stadiums all over the world in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Paris, Dublin, Glasgow, and (praise be) London.

On top of that, all three groups have announced that they’re going to be releasing new albums and have already released new singles.

When is Green Day’s tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer?

The Hella Mega Tour will be taking place during summer 2020.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 am on 20 September, 2019.

Green Day have released the lead single for their new album of the same name Father Of All, meanwhile Fall Out Boy released their track Dear Future Self (Hands Up) for their record Greatest Hits: Believers Never Die – Volume Two.

Not to be outdone, Weezer have released the single and certified bop The End of the Game, which will be included in their upcoming 14th studio album, Van Weezer.

On the subject of the tour, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said: ‘It’s kind of a Green Day idea. And we talked about how we weren’t really wanting to do stadiums and do something that was like throwback to Monsters Of Rock Tour.

‘There was, of course, Fall Out Boy and Weezer and now we’re stoked.’

The Hella Mega Tour will kick off in June 2020.

Simon Cowell was left baffled on America’s Got Talent as an acrobatic dance act performed stunts so dangerous he declared them ‘unbeatable’.

Indian dance crew, aptly titled V.Unbeatable, appeared in the semi-finals on last night’s show, wearing matching green tracksuits as they performed backflips and stunts from a ladder hanging from the stage ceiling.

Could they become the first dance group to win AGT?

Well it’s certainly a possibility according to Simon, who told them: ‘Never has a crew had a more appropriate name. Very unbeatable! Because you guys are in it to win it.

‘Let me tell you something. I think your country are going to be so proud of what you have done throughout this entire competition.

‘I am thrilled for you and I have a feeling we’re gonna be seeing you in possibly the greatest final we’ve ever had next week.’

Co-judge Julianne Hough agreed and said: ‘Dance is for everyone. Hands down. And I have to say, oh my gosh, I just want to learn from you guys. You guys are literally unbeatable.

‘You are the ones to beat.’

However, as the 14^th season of the show prepares for its finale, they definitely have their work cut out for them – competing against light performer Alex Dowis, who created a dedicated piece to the 9/11 victims and the Detroit Youth Choir also giving it their all.

Singer Luke Islam performed a Greatest Showman track, Marcin Patrzalek put his own spin on Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and Australian magician worked on perspective in a comedy performance involving beer.

With the finals just next week, who could make it to the end?

Rachel Riley couldn’t keep the smile off her face as she was pictured on Tuesday in Manchester.

The 33-year-old is expecting her first child with husband Pasha Kovalev, whom she met on Strictly Come Dancing when the pair were partnered together, and as she heads into the final months of her pregnancy, the Countdown star was simply glowing.

Wearing a simple stripey T-shirt top with jeans and an oversized pink coat – and a fun metallic silver backpack – the TV mathematician looked gleeful as she left the studio where she was thought to be filming the Christmas special of the Channel 4 show.

Rachel and Pasha announced they were expecting their first child in May with a fun Instagram post that saw Rachel cradling her baby bump in front of a famous Countdown conundrum.

Cupping her stomach in front of the infamous board, she grinned away in front of letters that spell out ‘maternity’ when rearranged.

‘Pash and I have a conundrum for you… you have til December to work it out!’ she tweeted.

‘We’re over the moon excited!’

Weeks later the two took off to Las Vegas for a last-minute wedding.

Confirming their marriage on Instagram, Rachel sported a red and white printed mini dress with a bouquet of red and white roses in hand, while Pasha looked proud and dapper in a black blazer with cream jeans and a white shirt covered in what appears to be small red love hearts.

Rachel captioned the Instagram post: ‘Introducing the new Mr and Mrs Kovalev. We both said yes!’

Renee Zellweger has revealed a grim story where her prosthetic nose fell off during filming of Judy, leaving a ‘milk-like substance’ on her co-star Finn Wittrock.

The unfortunate incident happened during filming for the biopic in which she plays stage and screen legend Judy Garland.

Recalling the ‘intimate’ scenes filmed with on-screen husband Finn, who plays Mickey Deans, Renee was in embarrassed hysterics.

She revealed the ‘horror’ of when she was locking lips with Finn and parts of the prop nose ended up on his face.

‘Yeah. I had no idea! I did not know until this kissing scene and I look at him with horror and I realise,’ she told Entertainment Tonight.

‘Am I more upset that I got that on his face – and we haven’t cut so I can’t be touching his face in a way to try and get it of – or that it’s attached to my head and there’s so much more where that came from?,’ she continued.

‘It would weep, the glue and the thing and the chemicals or something, I don’t know, and some of it would just sneak out the crevice [on the side].

‘[Very] glamorous.’

On how she prepared herself for portraying the late Hollywood icon, Renee said: ‘I just surrounded myself with all this fun material that I love.

‘I love [Judy]. I love her performances. I love her on a talk show. I love what she wore.

‘I love the sound of her voice. I mean, all of it.

‘I just fooled myself to death and was super greedy all the time. That’s it.’

The film is set in 1968, during a time when the Wizard of Oz actress headed to London in an effort to revive her career.

The movie sees the star perform sold-out shows at the Talk Of The Town nightclub, and follows her as she reminisces with friends and fans and begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey, who she married three months before her death.

The stalwart passed away at the age of 47 in 1969 due to an accidental overdose, and the film also touches on her struggles with drug and alcohol issues, based on the musical drama End Of

The Rainbow by Peter Quilter.

Judy is released in UK cinemas 2 October.

Peter Andre made a name for himself back in 1996, gifting us all with Mysterious Girl before becoming a household name in the UK.

But son Junior seems a little less impressed by his career, branding the 46-year-old a ‘one hit wonder’ in a savage roast.

Taking to Instagram, the dad-of-four shared a video of his eldest son – whom he shares with ex-wife Katie Price – showing off his rap credentials, while getting in some brutal digs at his family.

‘We got Princess #bistogravy, you put that with the chicken stock and make it go crazy,’ the 14-year-old began.

Peter and wife Emily, 30, found the whole thing hilarious, laughing at his bluntness.

But that didn’t stop ‘MC Junior’ on his ‘beat’, as he carried on regardless, giving Drake a serious run for his money.

This week’s episode of The Great British Bake Off was bread week, which meant extra pressure for the contestants.

Bread is a speciality of Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood, and he was keeping a keen eye on the bakers as the tackled three tricky challenges.

For the signature they had to produce a tear & share loaf, followed by burger baps and veggie burgers for the technical, and then a decorative loaf display for the showstopper.

Who left Bake Off this week?

Amelia became the third person to leave the tent this week after struggling to do enough to convince the judges that she should stay.

It was a competitive week for the bakers, with many of them at risk of being booted off of the show.

She finished last during the technical challenge with her under-cooked burger baps, and she wasn’t able to do enough to save herself with her caterpillar transformation loaf for the showstopper.

Who won star baker on bread week?

Michael won star baker after an impressive week, which also saw him receive the first Hollywood handshake of the series.

He received the prestigious handshake for his keralan star bread tear & share during the signature challenge.

So far star baker has been awarded to Michelle, Alice and Michael, while Dan, Jamie and Amelia have been the three people to leave the tent this week.

Piers Morgan is barely hanging on by a thread as the modern world continues to confuse him.

This week it was the news that a gender neutral penguin has arrived at Sea Life in London, while BBC Films are being used in schools to teach children that there are ‘more than 100 genders’.

Anything to do with gender sends the outspoken presenter over the edge, and on Wednesday’s show he declared him a ‘two-spirit penguin’, referring to one the 100 genders being a ‘two-spirit person’.

Piers raged: ‘What are you doing to these kids? What’s a two-spirit person? What’s wrong with male and female out of interest?

‘I’m a penguin. Identifying as a two spirit penguin. Everyone happy with that?’

His co-host Susanna Reid added: ‘I think if you want to identify as a pan penguin that’s fine.’

Piers snapped back: ‘It’s not fine that’s the point. It’s not fine, the BBC shouldn’t be doing this.’

He then turned to the topic of a new version of the board game Monopoly which gives female players more money in reference to the gender pay gap.

When Susanna supported the idea, Piers raged: ‘What a pathetic, spineless weak, individual you’ve become.

‘What you want is to have is to have an unfair advantage. Because women really have it tough these days. It’s really hard.’

Susanna commented that ‘some’ women do have it hard – namely from 6 to 8.30am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings – her co-host taunted her over her ‘massive’ ITV pay.

Piers said: ‘Oh yeah, you and your massive, massive salary, sitting here doing your four days a week, living in your flash house and living a life of unparalleled luxury.

‘You, Susanna Reid are one of the downtrodden ones. You broke free from Croydon and things have got worse.’

Also on the show Piers fired back at This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for taunting him over their fourth TV Choice award win.

The upcoming film is said to be Daniel’s final appearance as everyone’s favourite spy, with reports he is hanging up his suit and martini after 13 years in the role.

As filming continues, talk has inevitably turned to who will be stepping into his shoes next, with a string of names thrown into the mix.

The Bodyguard star Richard Madden has been tipped to take over, with Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston also linked to the role over the past year.

However, the casting mystery has opened up a huge debate over whether the next James Bond should be a woman, after it was teased Lashana Lynch would get the part.

Be that as it may, Joanna Lumley is adamant his replacement should be a man.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk about the franchise, the Absolutely Fabulous actress told us: ‘He took very special pains to describe James Bond, who was a man, and this was written in the early 50s, who was a British man of a certain height and build and a rather cruel face, a lean build.

‘It seems odd to me you’d make that a woman.’

Prue Leith committed a cardinal sin on last night’s episode of The Great British Bake Off when she expressed her dislike for Baklava.

The 79-year-old judge, who could be majorly revamping hospital food as she’s enlisted to advise the Department of Health and Social Care, criticised the dessert as she went around the tent to see what contestants were working on for their signature bake.

When Prue dropped by Alice Fevronia’s bench and learnt that she was making a Baklava-inspired tear ‘n’ share ring flavoured with honey, orange blossoms, spices and nuts, she made her feelings known.

‘My problem with Baklava is generally it is so sweet,’ Prue quipped.

‘Perhaps with bread dough, it would tone down some of that.’

Defending her unique dish, Alice replied: ‘I’ve just got such a sweet tooth.’

Viewers were sent into a rage over Prue’s remark and called for the sweet dessert pastry to be protected at all costs.

One particularly vexed fan scorned on Twitter: ‘Prue has a problem with Baklava. She’s now dead to me.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘Cannot fathom the idea that someone (Prue) would consider baklava “too sweet”,’ followed by a number of waving hands emojis. 

Basically, don’t ever come for Baklava, kids.

Last night’s episode of Bake Off was particularly noteworthy as Prue’s co-star Paul Hollywood gave out his first Hollywood handshake of the series.

Michael Chakraverty received the accolade for his chilli flavoured tear ‘n’ share and was delighted by the gesture, saying: ‘My mum’s going to cry, she’s going to be so excited and I can’t wait to tell my friends and my mum.’

Sadly though, it was home time for Amelia Le Bruin and she became the third casualty of the series.

‘I’ve always, always, always said that bread week for me would be about survival – and I just didn’t survive,’ she said before exiting.

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.

It is official, Apex Legends is getting two physical editions, and each will have exclusive content.

EA has finally decided to release two special editions of Apex Legends for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 18 October in retail stores across America; although there’s no news yet as to whether the rest of the world will get them as well. These editions will cost you $20 (£16) regardless of which one you choose, or you can drop $40 (£32) to get them both.

Each edition is themed around one of two fan favourite characters, Lifeline and Bloodhound, who each get exclusive skins: a demon of nightmares for Bloodhound an angel of death for Lifeline.

The Apex Legends Lifeline Edition box is trimmed in white and gold, while the Apex Legends Bloodhound Edition is covered in blood-red. Both will come with all their respective character-specific exclusive cosmetics.

Shaun Ryder has revealed he once ‘bit a dog on its head’ then kicked it ‘up the bum’ after he dropped a tab of acid while on his rounds as a postman.

Of course he did.

The Happy Mondays frontman claimed that the terrier had been ‘snapping’ at his heels so he decided to give it a taste of its own medicine.

‘Only fair. I did to the dog what it was trying to do to me,’ he said, adding that he had ‘dropped a tab of acid probably to relieve the boredom then on the round as I was stepping up to be promoted to a postman, this terrier dog at a pub I delivered to, tried to attack me’.

‘So I thought I am not having this, I grabbed it, bit it on its head threw it down and gave a kick up the bum.’

However, it understandably meant the end of his career as a postie; Shaun told The Sun that ‘as it went another postman who was passing in his van saw what happened and reported me’.

‘That was it I was suspended but I had already started the band so I wasn’t too bothered,’ he said.

Shaun famously battled with drug addiction throughout his career, with his heroin habit leading to the break-up of the Happy Mondays.

Earlier in 2019 he revealed that his addiction was all-consuming to the point that he couldn’t remember a gun being fired on a night out.

The 56-year-old admitted that he once woke up in a basement sandwiched between two naked waitresses, with a gun next to him which had been fired three times.

Only thing is, he can’t remember that part.

His drug of choice at the time was the tranquiliser temazepam and the dad-of-six said his addiction totally warped his sense of time.

Ryder said: ‘That three years from 1995 to 1998, looking back, just doesn’t make sense time-wise. When we came out the other side, it was actually three years later and we were like, “Where have we been for the last three years?”‘

The countdown until the release of the new Downton Abbey movie is ticking down and the hype is definitely building.

The film will take place one year after the events at the end of the massively popular TV show.

For anyone who wants a quick catch up before they go and see the movie, here’s what you need to know about the TV show.

How many seasons of Downton Abbey are there?

The original Downton Abbey series ran for six seasons from 2011 until 2016.

It followed the lives of the Crawley family and their staff who lived in and worked from the opulent Downton Abbey.

If you want to catch up on episodes of the show, then you can head to Amazon Prime and enjoy all six seasons if you have a Prime membership.

The show is also available to stream in its entirety if you’ve got a Now TV Entertainment Pass.

The Downton Abbey movie is due to hit cinemas in the UK on Friday, 13 September.

If you’re in the states, you’ll have to wait another week until 20 September.

The film will see Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Talbot, Elizabeth McGovern as the Countess of Grantham, Hugh Bonneville as the Earl of Grantham, Jim Carter as Charles Carson, and Dame Maggie Smith as the ever-sassy Dowager Countess all returning to the hallowed halls of Downton.

Stranger Things season 4 hasn’t even been announced yet but it’s pretty safe to say that it’s going to happen at some point in the near future.

But while we wait in the meantime this is the optimum chance for fans to play detective and lay out their theories – with one of the latest ones being the perfect reason to get Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will (Noah Schnapp) back to Hawkins.

With the Upside Down and the Demogorgon not quite over with yet – and Russians seemingly having a connection to it all, one fan reckons they’ve figured out why Eleven is so connected to the Mind Flayer.

Reddit user Falloutaddicted noted they reckon that the Mind Flayer is actually, 001, and much like Eleven, who runs up her energy to the point of nosebleeds, the Mind Flayer has discovered that extracting people’s energies (ie. killing them) is how they get the energy they need.

So the creepy and gory Mind Flayer that we’ve seen kill and maim across Hawkins could actually be a creature built by 001, connected to the real body but far enough away so it can take the damage.

As a result, they think they’ve cracked what’s to come in season four.

They wrote: ‘This is what could be the storyline: Will and El can’t sense the Mind Flayer as they are out of Hawkins, while the others start to notice some strange activity and investigate and split up at some point.’

‘One group gets ambushed and trapped in the flayer’s power reactor, another group discovers that the portal in the lab is open again and contact Eleven and Will to come back to Hawkins and the final group will confront the government (who wants to keep all strange activities secret) with this,’ they continue.

‘Once Will arrives in Hawkins he starts to feel the Mind Flayer again and El still tries to deal with the loss of her powers. The group in the reactor has escaped and tries to go back to the normal world but doesn’t know where the portal is, so they go to Starcourt Mall (or the ruins) and discovers that the communists are there working together with the Mind Flayer.

‘The group confronting the government quickly discovers that Hopper is still alive and the Russians keep him hostage, as the American government keeps one of their commanders hostage, this action is being lead by the one and only Dr. Brenner who got promoted because of the project with El.

‘El discovers this too and wants to make her way to Brenner to kill him while the others need her. She even got so mad when she heard that she got her powers working again and decided to help defeating the Mind Flayer.’

‘When the ones in the Upside Down got back in the normal world after a while and the entire group was united again Eleven stepped through the portal to fight the Mind Flayer,’ they concluded.

‘This will result in an epic end battle where El nearly loses but the other numbers help her.’

The idea isn’t without fault, but it’s not a completely bad shout.

What Dr Brenner did to Eleven back when she was still young has put her on a quest of vengeance ever since, and Hopper’s fate has been well and truly left in question as we try to figure out who the American is.

But I guess until we see season four (which could well be the last season of the show ever), we’ve just got to be patient.
