Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are seeing 2019 out with a sweet smooch, with celebs around the world celebrating the end of the year and the decade.

And if there’s anyone who knows how to celebrate, it’s the showbiz world.

Taking to social media to ring in the New Year, Kim K and Kanye got their Spider-Man on with a sweet upside-down smooch.

‘To lots of love in 2020,’ Kim wrote and, despite the pair rocking some questionable outfits, it’s pretty adorable.

Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon continued the cuteness, enjoying a chill night in after putting their kids to bed.

Pouring out a couple of glasses of Diet Coke, the pair proved they were having a wild one as they cheers’ed to the New Year.

Strictly’s Joe Sugg, meanwhile, is spending his first New Year’s Eve Down Under, with his girlfriend Dianne Buswell and the pair are definitely making the most of the sweltering Aussie heatwave.

Posing away by the ocean, they’ve been making us all kinds of jealous.

With Australia being one of the first countries to hit midnight, the pair of them celebrated the beginning of 2020 at sunset with the rest of the Buswell family. Not too shabby.

Lizzo has had an incredible year, and she shared an Instagram post getting reflective about the past decade.

‘2009 was the year my daddy died,’ she wrote. ‘2009 was the year I lived in my car and cried myself to sleep on thanksgiving. 2009 I was a girl in Houston Texas with no plan, no hope, no will to carry on.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6wKSPCHQW7/

‘2019 is the year my album and song went number 1. 2019 is the year I told my mama “I can buy you a house”. 2019 I am a woman with a 20/20 vision of the future.’

She added: ‘Anything can happen in a decade. Tomorrow is the beginning of your anything.  Thanks for the ride 2019. Here we go 2020!’

Well, now we’re emotional.

Holly Willoughby has rung in the new year with her family, sharing a snap of the gang gazing and waving at a flaming 2020 sign. As you do.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6wODnsl0xV/

‘To kindness and love … the things we need most… #ifyouknowyouknow #happy2020 xxx,’ she wrote.

Amanda Holden, meanwhile, wasn’t afraid of a shameless plug as she posed on the beach with branded Heart FM microphones. Did she pack them?!

‘Happy 2020 I’m All Heart! #welcome2020,’ she wrote.

Rebel Wilson had a prime spot for the fireworks in Sydney with her pals.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6vbR5jJOoO/

‘We crushed Sydney New Year’s Eve! We’re in the future now in 2020!’ she wrote.

‘What a fun gang to celebrate with and thanks to our gorgeous hostess Heloise for throwing an amazing bash with clearly the BEST views.’

As for queen of the jungle Jacqueline Jossa? She got herself all glammed up, only to spend the night on her sofa with her hubby Dan Osborne.

Hey, we definitely can’t blame her.

Mariah Carey’s Twitter account has been hacked by trolls, with bizarre tweets and vile slurs appearing on the star’s profile.

Fans were first alerted to something being wrong with the account when Mariah appeared to tweet: ‘Eminem can still hold this p****y..’

From then on, the singer’s profile was flooded with tweets.

Messages including: ‘Eminem has a little penis,’ and ‘#ChucklingSquad,’ also appeared on the account, with the hacker also calling to ‘legalise’ a racial slur.

Fans have had mixed reactions to the hacking, with some demanding for the hacker to leave Mariah’s account alone, and others asking them to follow them.

Each to their own.

It’s definitely not the ideal end to the year for Mariah, especially after she celebrated becoming the first artist to rule the Billboard chart in four decades.

After Billboard announced that All I Want For Christmas would be celebrating a third week at number one – the first one of 2020 – it confirmed that she was the first artist to have a hit song on the chart across the past four decades.

They posted: ‘@MariahCarey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is officially No. 1 on the #Hot100 for a third week.

‘As this is the first chart of the 2020s, she becomes the first artist in history to rule the chart in four separate decades: 1990s, 2000s, 2010s & 2020s.’

Mariah responded to the tweet, saying: ‘Yaaaaaaaaay!!! WE. DID. IT. But…. what’s a decade?’

She then shared her celebrations with fans, posting a video of her and her team toasting to the news with flutes of champagne outside her private jet.

Let’s hope the rest of the year looks up for Mariah!

Lewis Burton insists that Caroline Flack did not hit him with a lamp as pictures of blood-stained sheets emerge.

The model and professional tennis player has taken to social media to set the record straight after photos which appear to show the aftermath of their argument in Caroline’s bedroom.

The photos show blood-splattered sheets on a bed, although Lewis claims the blood isn’t his.

Posting to his Instagram story, Lewis exclaimed: ‘B******t this blood isn’t mine and I didn’t get hit over the head with a lamp, can everyone stop now.

‘I love this girl more than anything no one knows what’s going on or what’s happened.  She’s f***ing harmless and the most amazing person I have ever met.’

The news comes after the former Love Island presenter appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court last week where she pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault by beating.

Prosecutors revealed details of a 999 call where Lewis allegedly claimed he had been struck with a lamp while sleeping.

He is also said to have told the 999 operators: ‘She tried to kill me, mate.’

Denying the claims heard in court, Lewis wrote on Instagram: ‘It’s been heartbreaking I can’t see my girlfriend over Christmas. What I witnessed today was horrible. She did not hit me with a lamp.

‘Arguments do happen every day in every relationship. Gutted I am not allowed to protect her right now.’

The court heard that Lewis is not supporting the prosecution, with Paul Morris defending, saying: ‘He is not the victim, as he would say, he was a witness. He would not suggest that the injuries are significant in the way the prosecution submit.’

Caroline also reportedly flew to Los Angeles to get away from the drama following her arrest for assault by beating.

The 40-year-old who is being replaced by Laura Whitmore for the upcoming first winter edition of the show, reportedly flew out to America where she is unlikely to get recognised.

As part of her bail conditions, Caroline has been ordered not to see Lewis, despite him insisting he isn’t pressing charges over the incident.

He posted an Instagram story of Caroline, telling his followers: ‘Gutted I can’t spend Christmas with you. I want to repeat I never pressed charges and asked the other day for the bail conditions to be dropped but no1 listened to me. I want this all to be over.’

Caroline had been seen arriving at London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday, as she wheeled a large case and carried her holdall ahead of her flight.

She attempted to avoid being recognised with a large Burberry scarf around her neck, which she pulled up over the bottom half of her face, and dark sunglasses.

Caroline Flack’s reps have been approached for a comment.

Metro GameCentral video games preview of 2020 – release dates for every new game

Cyberpunk 2077 – a big game in a big year (pic: CD Projekt)

2020 has one of the busiest springs ever for new games but when exactly is the likes of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Cyberpunk 2077 out?

For years now the Christmas rush has been getting less crowded and more and more games have been coming out in the first half of the year instead, but things are getting really crazy in 2020. Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Avengers, and The Last Of Us Part 2 are all contenders for the biggest and most anticipated games of the year and they’re all out in the first five months. As well as a bunch of other great looking games.

We know much less about the second half of the year, which is of course dominated by the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It’s worth bearing in mind though, that new consoles generally only have a dozen or so games released in their first year, of which only a handful are any good – so most of this year’s best games are likely to be current gen releases.

How many of those might also become cross-gen remains to be seen, but so far only Ubisoft has announced that their new games will be coming out on both sets of formats.

Confirmed video games for 2020

11 February – Ori And The Will Of The Wisps (XO/PC)
One of the last big Xbox One exclusives and the long-awaited follow-up to what remains one of the best Metroidvanias of the generation. There’s no clue yet if it’ll also be released on Switch.

14 February – Dreams (PS4)
The game creation tool from the makers of LittleBigPlanet has been in beta for a long time but February is the official launch date when everyone will be able to play it.

3 March – Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4)
Fans have been waiting for it for generations and now the first chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is almost here, and set to be one of the biggest games of the entire year.

13 March – Nioh 2 (PS4)
Considering how little of it has been seen in public we worry there’s going to be a delay here. But we hope not as the original is the best Dark Souls clone around.

19 March – PC Engine CoreGrafx Mini
It may not be the most famous retro format but we’re greatly looking forward to this new mini console featuring classics from Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood to Splatterhouse.

20 March – Doom Eternal (XO/PS4/NS/PC/Stadia)
It suffered a huge delay until this spring but the sequel to the Doom reboot was already looking great last summer and hopefully is even better now. A remaster of Doom 64 is being released at the same time.

20 March – Animal Crossing: New Horizons (NS)
This was also meant to be out last year but is now the only major game Nintendo game with a firm release date. Given how well suited the ultra cute life simulator is to the Switch we’re sure it’ll be huge.

24 March – Bleeding Edge (XO/PC)
The next game from Ninja Theory is not Hellblade 2 but this multiplayer-only, melee-focused multiplayer game. It’s looking pretty good too, with betas already available if you’re interested.

March – Half-Life: Alyx (VR)
Believe it or not there is a new Half-Life game out this year, but it’s not Half-Life 3. It’s a VR-only game set before the events of Half-Life 2 but whether it’ll still provide some sort of closure remains to be seen.

3 April – Resident Evil 3 (XO/PS4/PC)
Everyone knew it was coming but perhaps not this soon. After the amazing Resident Evil 2 though the sooner the better, especially as it has a brand-new multiplayer component as well.

16 April – Cyberpunk 2077 (XO/PS4/PC)
CD Projekt’s follow-up to The Witcher 3 is another massive release for the first half of 2020 and from everything that’s been seen so far it seems impossible the first person sci-fi role-player will disappoint.

24 April – Predator: Hunting Grounds (PS4)
This promising looking asymmetric multiplayer game has survived Disney’s buyout of 20th Century Fox, although no one seems to know what happened to the planned Alien game.

28 April – Gears Tactics (PC)
We’re not sure why this isn’t also on Xbox but it looks like a decent XCOM clone, at least in terms of the turn-based combat – we haven’t seen any sign of a meta strategy level element as well.

April – Minecraft Dungeons (XO/PS4/NS/PC)
Microsoft’s first big action spin-off for Minecraft is looking pretty good, with no requirement that you know or care about the main game – as long as you’re up for some multiplayer dungeon-crawling.

15 May – Marvel’s Avengers (XO/PS4/PC/Stadia)
Square Enix’s mix of superhero brawler and Destiny style multiplayer experience still has some questions to answer but was looking surprisingly good in the early playable previews.

29 May – The Last Of Us Part 2 (PS4)
The hits just keep coming in 2020, and there seems zero chance that this won’t be both a critical and commercial darling. But will there be a PlayStation 5 remaster this year as well?

May – Fast & Furious Crossroads (XO/PS4/PC)
Since Project CARS developer Slightly Mad Studios are making it there’s every reason to hope this might be the first good Fast & Furious game. And if not, well… we’ve lived this long without one.

Spring – Grounded (XO/PC)
The Outer Worlds developer Oblivion change gears with a multiplayer survival game where everyone is shrunk down to the size of an ant. So even if the game’s no good at least the setting’s different.

Spring – Dying Light 2 (XO/PS4/PC)
Techland has been taking a long time over this sequel but it does look a significant advancement on the first, with a better script, better gameplay, and a very malleable branching narrative.

Q2 – Empire Of Sin (XO/PS4/NS/PC)
Doom creator John Romero returns with… an XCOM clone set in Prohibition Chicago. That’s not what you’d expect from him but from what we saw it’s looking pretty good.

Q2 – Disintegration (XO/PS4/PC)
One of the co-creators of Halo is looking to make this the next big multiplayer game. We’re not sure it’s going to dethrone Fortnite but the squad-based tactical elements are interesting.

Summer – Ghost Of Tsushima (PS4)
Sony’s last big PlayStation 4 exclusive now has at least a vague release date, although we’ve still seen relatively little of its grounded, historical-based samurai action.

Christmas – Xbox Series X
There’s no exact release date for either new console yet but if they follow tradition they’ll both be out in November, at almost exactly the same time.

Christmas – PlayStation 5
When Microsoft or Sony will announce a release date is impossible to say, but there’s a good chance it’ll be at dedicated events in the spring or early summer.

Christmas – Godfall (PS5/PC)
The first PlayStation 5 game to be seen in public is published by Gearbox, not Sony, and is also on PC. But that’s about all that can be divined about it at the moment, beyond a vague fantasy setting.

Christmas – Halo Infinite (XO/XSX/PC)
Clearly intended to be the Xbox Series X’s biggest launch exclusive, and yet at the moment we know virtually nothing about it. But you can expect that to change very quickly once Microsoft’s marketing gets going.

Christmas – Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 (XSX)
Also introduced as a launch game, although plans do change. Its trailer at The Game Awards was certainly highly impressive in terms of graphics, even if we know nothing about the story yet.

2020 – Watch Dogs Legion (XO/PS4/XSX/PS5/PC)
After disappointing sales for The Division and Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft delayed the new Watch Dogs to sometime later in 2020. Although it always looked more promising than either of those games.

2020 – Psychonauts 2 (XO/PS4/PC)
One sequel we’ll only believe when we’re actually playing it (although technically we have seen a hands-off) demo, it’s staying multiformat despite Microsoft having bought developer Double Fine.

2020 – Rainbow Six Quarantine (XO/PS4/XSX/PS5/PC)
Rainbow Six in space seems a really odd way to go with the franchise, but we’ve never had a serious, grounded space marine game, so maybe this will be it. It’s not replacing Rainbow Six Siege though.

Also confirmed for 2020: 3 Jan – Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training For Nintendo Switch (NS), 17 Jan – Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (XO/PS4/PC), 17 Jan – Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore (NS), 28 Jan – Warcraft 3: Reforged (PC), 4 Feb – The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance Tactics (XO/PS4/NS/PC), 4 Feb – Zombie Army 4: Dead War (XO/PS4/PC), 28 Feb – Marvel’s Iron Man VR (PSVR), 31 Mar – Persona 5 Royal (PS4), 24 Apr – Trials Of Mana (PS4/NS/PC), 5 May – Maneater (XO/PS4/NS/PC), 19 May – Wasteland 3 (XO/PS4/PC), Q2 – Phantasy Star Online 2 (XO), mid-2020 – Tell Me Why (XO/PC), Q3 – Outriders (XO/PS4/PC), Autumn – Axiom Verge 2 (NS), Autumn – Dungeons & Dragons Dark Alliance, 2020 – Evil Genius 2: World Domination (PC), 2020 – Kerbal Space Program 2 (XO/PS4/PC), 2020 – Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (XO/PS4/NS/PC), 2020 – Microsoft Flight Simulator (XO/PC), 2020 – No More Heroes 3 (NS), 2020 – Oddworld: Soulstorm (XO/PS4/PC), 2020 – The Settlers (PC), 2020 – Spelunky 2 (PS4/PC), 2020 – Streets Of Rage 4 (XO/PS4/NS/PC), 2020 – Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 (XO/PS4/PC), 2020 – Bravely Default 2 (NS), 2020 – The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope (XO/PS4/PC), 2020 – Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise (NS)

Possible video games for 2020

Everwild
Rare’s mysterious new game is presumably a next gen release, although they haven’t really said anything about it yet. The fact it was announced at all though may imply it’s out sooner rather than later.

Bayonetta 3 (NS)
It’s a long time since we’ve heard anything about the new Bayonetta, but then when it was announced in 2017 work hadn’t really started yet – so there’s a chance it’ll be finished this year.

Babylon’s Fall (PS4/PC)
PlatinumGames’ other big action title also went dark for a long time, before more news was promised this summer. With luck that’ll be a prelude to an autumn release.

Horizon Zero Dawn 2
Sony has never announced a sequel but there hasn’t been a peep out of developer Guerrilla Games for years now and Horizon Zero Dawn 2 as a PlayStation 5 launch title would make a lot of sense.

Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 (NS)
There’s no official word on when the unnamed follow-up will be out but most rumours point to sooner than you’d think, as Nintendo has been doing a lot of hiring for it lately.

Overwatch 2
Of all the big BlizzCon announcements this year, Overwatch’s sequel seems the most likely to come out first, as it uses a lot of the same tech as the original – although 2020 is probably still 50/50.

Assassin’s Creed: Ragnarok
Rumours of a Norse setting seem an odd choice given the success of God Of War but whatever the setting, a new Assassin’s Creed of some sort is due out this year.

Unlikely video games for 2020

Elden Ring (XO/PS4/PC)
Given it’s supposed to be out on current gen formats we would say the chances of a 2020 launch were good, but since nothing has been seen of it since its announcement that’s currently hard to imagine.

Fable 4
That the developer behind Forza Horizon is working on a new Fable is an open secret but there’s no way of telling when it’ll be out, but nothing so far points towards it being an Xbox Series X launch title.

Dragon Age 4
Given the difficult couple of years BioWare has had it’s hard to predict what they’re up to at the moment, but nothing points towards an imminent release for a new Dragon Age. Or Mass Effect for that matter.

Metroid Prime 4 (NS)
Given the whole project was restarted from scratch only a year ago it’s far too early to expect a release date this year. We wouldn’t even bet on seeing any footage.

Beyond Good And Evil 2
Whatever’s going on with Michel Ancel’s sequel it’s clearly not happening very quickly, and with so many other Ubisoft games being delayed recently it seems unlikely it’ll be out this year.

Diablo 4
It’s probably not that far off, but a 2020 release for Diablo 4 is not something we’d bank on. There’ll probably be an alpha or beta though, before a 2021 launch.

Starfield
There’s a good chance we might get a first look at Bethesda’s next role-playing game this year, but considering nothing has been seen so far a 2020 release seems very unlikely.

The Elder Scrolls 6
Since Bethesda has already said the sequel to Skyrim won’t be out until after Starfield there’s zero chance of it appearing this year.

GTA 6
A new Grand Theft Auto is already overdue, but the question now is what do Rockstar do about the new consoles? At the very least they’ll want GTA Online on them, but will it be a port, an upgrade, or a full sequel? Maybe we’ll find out in 2020, but it’s unlikely to be out this year.

What time is Messiah released on Netflix UK?

A still from Messiah
Messiah has already proven divisive (Picture: Netflix)

Netflix UK isn’t wasting any time in getting its 2020 shows underway – with brand new series Messiah set to debut on the streaming platform on New Year’s Day.

The upcoming show has already caused controversy before it’s even been aired, with some threatening to boycott the service, and a petition already calling for the show to be banned.

It’s due out tomorrow – but what time will it be arriving, what’s it about and why has it proven divisive?

Here’s what you need to know…

What time is Messiah released on Netflix UK?

Messiah will be arriving on Netflix on 1 January at around 8am UK time.

That’s in keeping with the time difference between the UK and Netflix HQ in San Francisco – where it will be midnight.

A still from Messiah
The whole of series one will be released in one go (Picture: Netflix)

There are 10 episodes in the first series, and they’ll all be released at once, meaning you can binge-watch to your heart’s content.

What is Messiah about?

The official synopsis reads thus:  ‘A CIA officer investigates a charismatic figure whose followers believe that he can perform miracles.

‘Is he a divine entity or a dangerous con artist?’

Why has Messiah been controversial?

There has been anger expressed over the central character, who is labelled Al-Massih – a name remarkably similar to the evil figure in Islamic eschatology called Al-Masih ad-Dajjal – someone branded a liar and compared to the Antichrist.

As part of the show, Al-Massih aims to cross 2,000 Palestinian Syrians over the border of Israel.

Viewers who have seen the trailer claim the show will be anti-Islamic and disrespectful to their beliefs, while Christians have also suggested that the show is blasphemous.

‘This does not just insult one religion, but many,’ said one person. ‘This is not a subject that can be taken as a joke and shouldn’t be used for entertainment and “thrill”.

Show creator Michael Petroni has defended the show, saying ‘they didn’t set out to offend anyone’.

‘It’s not like I’m welcoming backlash,’ he explained. ‘We expect that there’s going to be a lot of noise around the show, and a lot of debate.’

Who is in the cast of Messiah?

Here’s who is in the series:

  • Mehdi Debdi as Al-Masih
  • Michelle Monaghan as Eva Geller
  • Jane Adams as Miriam Keneally
  • Weaver Bryce as Collier’s Driver
  • Sayyid El Alamio as Jibril
  • Fares Lanoulsi as Samir

The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco ends decade with Johnny Galecki dig and loads of Penny and Leonard throwbacks

Kaley Cuoco may have left Penny behind in 2019, but she’s holding onto her memories from The Big Bang Theory going into the next decade.

The 34-year-old was famously the most emotional cast member when CBS confirmed The Big Bang Theory was ending after 12 seasons, regularly updating fans with teary posts which culminated in one humungous sob at the final ever table read.

Following the trend and sharing her top nine photos from 2019, KC’s last post of the 2010s included one of her husband Karl Cook and a lot of Johnny Galecki, unsurprisingly. And after the Leonard star’s comical dig at her this week, Penny came back fighting.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6v8Gfhh4np/

‘Ok I had to play along,’ she wrote to her 5.8 million Instagram followers. ‘Looks like everyone loved my BBT posts, including lots of pics with @sanctionedjohnnygalecki ugh don’t tell him.

‘Another favorite taking home miss Blueberry and wearing one of the coolest dresses to last year’s golden globes … I’ve had my share of trying years but this was not one of them. Super grateful for everything this last year. Career, family, best friends, so many 4-legged creatures and the best husband on earth!’

All in all, Kaley had a mega 2019, but her 2020 is already off to a flying start – literally – as she’s currently filming her chilling new drama, The Flight Attendant, which the actress has already described as the ‘most challenging’ project of her career to date.

The thriller follows Cassandra Bowden, played by Kaley, who wakes up in a hotel room with the worst hangover of her life after a night out in Dubai.

And to make her morning from hell even more unbearable, there’s dead body beside her and she has a sneaky suspicion she may have something to do with said corpse’s demise. Bummer.

The Flight Attendant is expected to air on HBO Max in 2020 while The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix UK.

Taylor Swift ‘used body-double for Cats scene’ (Picture: Universal Pictures)

Taylor Swift is one of the stand-out names in the Cats cast, alongside Jennifer Hudson, Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Judi Dench.

But, despite only appearing in two scenes of the big-screen adaptation, it has been claimed the 30-year-old had a body double for one of them.

According to reports, the Shake It Off singer – who appears as Bombalurina – used stand-in Annabelle Strutt when she was unavailable to film.

The Sun states she took Swifty’s place during the scene where her character was on a boat, alongside Judi and Idris Elba, with her face superimposed over the top.

Not that Annabelle is too fussed, as she shared a string of photos from her time on set, showing off her swanky dressing room as well as the motion capture outfit and make-up.

‘So, at the beginning of the year I was given the opportunity to be Taylor Swift’s (Bombalurina) body double in the upcoming musical film CATS,’ she captioned the Instagram upload.

‘I had a nice little trailer all to myself and experienced working in motion capture (hence the weird Star-Trek-style outfit and why I look like I’ve got the pox in these pics!)

https://www.instagram.com/p/B5XcbB9guQY/

‘I also was lucky enough to film a scene alongside the legendary Idris Elba, Ray Winstone and Judi Dench (who are all lovely by the way)! I had so much fun on this production and I’m very grateful to have been a part of it.’

Standing in for Taylor Swift and hanging out with Judi Dench? The absolute dream.

Unfortunately, the box office reception for the film has been less of a dream, with reports stating it is set to lose Universal $71million (£54m).

The adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular musical hasn’t gone down well with critics, with movie buffs panning everything from the ‘digital fur technology’ to the storyline and acting.

Film-goers haven’t been too impressed either, with the movie grossing $6.5million (£5m) on its opening weekend in the US, against a budget of $95million (£73m).

And Deadline states that it is ‘bound to lose $71m overall’ which is not ideal.

But Jason Derulo – aka Rum Tum Tugger – isn’t all that fussed about the reviews, as it’s an ‘incredible piece of art’.

‘Reviews don’t matter,’ he insisted to TMZ. ‘At the end of the day, the people are going to go see it, there’s going to be a deportation to another dimension.

‘When it came out on Broadway, it was the same thing, people were like, “what is this, this is something totally different”.

‘Anytime that you defy the rules there’s going to be some pushback, obviously.

‘It’s an incredible piece of art done by some of the best people in the world.

‘I’m just excited for the people to actually see it, because reviewers, what the hell do they know? Have they made a film ever in their lives?’

Challenge accepted.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Taylor and Universal for a comment.

BTS smashes it out of Times Square with amazing New Year’s Eve performance

Happy New Year from BTS! (Picture: REUTERS)

It’s not like we didn’t expect BTS to absolutely smash their New Year’s performance, but we can confirm they owned Times Square in New York overnight.

The seven-piece took to the stage for an energetic performance at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve that saw them cover bangers Make It Right as well as finishing with their hit Boy With Luv.

And didn’t they look awesome as they did it in style?

The band – made up of RM, Jin, Jungkook, Jimin, V, Suga and J-Hope – took to the red stairs in the middle of the Square as the Army filled the atmosphere with cheers. The group flexed their pipes from 10.30pm ET in New York City’s Times Square, alongside the likes of Post Malone and Alanis Morissette, at the event hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Lucy Hale.

As they made their way to the stage the deafening cheers of the crowd filled the air and we had all the fomo.

The group was mostly dressed in sleek black ensembles (except RM’s cosy grey coat, which we need in our lives) as they showed off their famous dance moves not hampered by their warmer outfits to compete with freezing NYC temperatures, may we add.

In a video posted by the host of the evening as the band began their performance fans didn’t even notice Ryan – who is still very famous in his own right – standing in front of them as they focused on the group.

What can we say? All eyes are always on BTS.

There was no way social media was going to be talking about anything but BTS’s performance, after Army had the tag #BTSxRockinEve trending well before they took to the stage.

As they wrapped Boy With Luv, which they collaborated with Halsey on, streamers fell and covered the group in the sweet moment, as they gathered in a huddle.

The band landed in New York the day before, gracing JFK with their stylish presence as they made their way through the terminal.

It comes after the group’s label BigHit Entertainment dropped the best Christmas present last week with a cryptic photo teaser on Twitter.

The purple image (a touching nod to their fandom?) shows the upside-down reflection of seven figures standing in water. Frustratingly we can’t see faces or any more details other than seven pairs of smart shoes. The word ‘TOUR’ is at the bottom, with the caption simply reading: ‘April 2020. Stay tuned.’

Army are convinced that this means the boys might be going on the road next year. While others have the theory that it could be the follow-up album to their 2019 comeback Map Of The Soul: Persona.

After their epic performance tonight, it’s clear BTS are still at the top, so we can’t wait to see what 2020 brings.

Maisie Williams gets support from Game of Thrones co-stars Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau after emotional Instagram

Game of ThronesLena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau have shown some love to former co-star Maisie Williams as she reflected on the end of 2019 and the beginning of a new decade.

2019 was quite the momentous year for the cast of HBO’s high-fantasy epic, as the blockbuster TV series came to an end after eight seasons with a very divisive final run of episodes.

Taking to Instagram, the Arya Stark actress ruminated on the past 12 months and everything she’s learned along the way, including a picture of her boyfriend too.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6vuvBig0Px/

‘This year was the best,’ she wrote. ‘I fell in love with a boy and I fell in love with myself.

‘I started saying “no.” I stopped worrying about the past, I stopped wishing for the future, and I started loving life for what it is.’

‘Seize your life,’ she concluded. ‘Happy New Year.’

Maisie’s post definitely seemed to strike a chord with some of her former castmates, Cersei Lannister star Lena commented on the post with a collection of love hearts, whilst it earned a supportive like from Jaime Lannister himself, Nikolaj.

It looks like after the end of Thrones, the Lannisters and the Starks are showing each other nothing but love in this new decade and we’re here for it.

The next decade will be the most important one for the cast as they finally move away from their starring roles in the juggernaut adaption.

Maisie will be next seen in the long-delayed X-Men spin-off The New Mutants, whilst Lena is currently filming a modern-day adaptation of Oliver Twist, playing a gender-swapped version of villain Bill Sikes alongside Rita Ora as the Artful Dodger (yes, really).

As for Nikolaj, his next film to be released will the thriller The Silencing. The actor also recently opened up about Game Of Thrones’ shocking snub at the Golden Globes, insisting that he ‘can’t complain’ that the divisive final season only garnered one nomination.

Game of Thrones seasons one to eight are available to stream on NOW TV.

Sam Smith celebrates ‘non-binary gloriousness’ with emotional New Year post

Sam Smith shared the most epic New Year throwback (Picture: WireImage)

Sam Smith rang in the New Year in the best way – by celebrating their non-binary gloriousness.

And we are so, so here for it.

The Latch singer came out as non-binary in an emotional post in September, and shared a message detailing their journey to end the decade.

Alongside a snap of themselves posing up a solid storm in 2009 – and clutching a fake Louis Vuitton handbag to boot – the 27-year-old began: ‘So tomorrow is 2020. Wow. I find times like these are this crazy mix of happy and sad, where we look back at the last 10 years and think of all we’ve been through in our lives.

‘Seeing you all post throwback photos and moments made me message my friend from school and ask if she had any photos from 10 years ago when I was 17. And I found this ICONIC picture above hahahaha.

‘This picture made me emotional because the confidence and freedom I’ve felt the last year is EVERYTHING I had those 10 years ago. This to me is a beautiful and important reminder that as we get older, life can get tough.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6vk8epAWHI/

‘As growing adults we get launched into this sometimes cruel and heartless world. And through that we sometimes feel like we lose ourselves and that spark we once had.’

Sam continued: ‘But the truth is, if we fight on, do the work, keep singing, dancing and loving… We will be ok. The kid in this picture went to school everyday in their non-binary gloriousness and ignored every stare or verbal taunt that was thrown their way.

‘That kid never left. They just had some hardcore feelings to feel. So to all you beautiful humans on the last day of 2019, my only advice after my very short time on this earth is… FEEL IT ALL!!!! And celebrate your sexy selves.

‘I’m raising a spliff and a glass of wine to the sky for you all. P.s. That’s a fake Louis V #cozimtherealthing.’

A truer hashtag has never been shared.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B2WpiusAc6h/

Right on cue, fans flooded the post with praise for the Stay With Me singer.

One wrote: ‘You are beautiful. Then and now. Happy new year!!!’

‘Happy New Year! Glad to see you living free and loving who you are. You should. Sending love,’ another commented.

‘Beautiful caption, fierce picture,’ an Instagram user shared, while a follower added: ‘Goddd, u are a diva queennn (sic).’

Sam revealed last year that they would be adopting ‘they/them’ as their pronouns, after a year of ‘feeling at war with their gender’.

‘I understand there will be many mistakes and mis gendering but all I ask is you please please try,’ they told fans in September.

‘I hope you can see me like I see myself now. Thank you.’

Anya Chalotra’s extraordinary audition for The Witcher: Why Henry Cavill’s casting actually revolved around Yennefer star

Anya Chalotra has swiftly become the breakout star of Netflix’s epic new blockbuster The Witcher, which isn’t a surprise to casting director Sophie Holland.

The 23-year-old has taken the reins as witch Yennefer, a hero who begins The Witcher with a hunchback, cursed to never find a man to love her – which was physically a painful slog for Anya to play.

Early in the series, through a particularly gruesome procedure, Anya is transformed, which has divided fans who felt the warrior’s make-over was pointless and, actually, pretty sexist.

Anya swiftly emerged as the breakout star of the Witcher (Picture: Netflix)

However, what’s indisputable is The Witcher season one – which almost immediately became the most streamed show on Netflix in 2019 – is Anya’s moment. And Sophie revealed to Metro.co.uk she actually cast the actress before their lead Henry Cavill, which is almost unheard of.

‘This was easy,’ Sophie – who recalled the entire cast of The Witcher’s audition process – told us. ‘I had met Anya on her first-ever professional audition for another project. I just knew immediately that we would work together.’

‘In the initial conversation when we were talking about our top 10 girls, Anya was on it but she was completely unknown. She’d not done anything and I wondered how I was gonna sell it. I didn’t need to sell it; that was the easiest find.

‘She was cast before anyone else. If you imagine casting sort of secondary lead before you’ve even found Geralt. They couldn’t chemistry read together – we’d already booked her.

‘We had to find a guy who would just [fit]. I just knew. She’s gonna be the one I think everybody’s gonna watch that series and feel literally like a star is born. She’s unbelievably in touch with her emotions, she’s beautiful but it’s like she doesn’t know it.

‘She has a kind of natural beauty. We didn’t have to search hard for her which feels wild considering the pressure. She is wonderful.’

The Witcher is available to stream on Netflix now.

Amanda Holden’s mic muffs come out again during topless sunbaking sesh on New Year’s Eve

Amanda Holden has done it again as she took her famous Heart radio mic muff on holiday with her, using it to cover her boobs during a beachside snap.

Those muffs really come in handy, it seems.

The star, 48, was in a cheeky mood as the clock struck 2020, as she rung in the New Year by sharing a shot of herself getting some vitamin-D on the sand.

After previously donning a bright pink and then a yellow bikini for her seaside adventures, Amanda decided it was better to go in her birthday suit as she seemingly whipped off her top for the camera.

Instead of baring all and fearing the dreaded Instagram rules around nips, she played it safe by strategically placing two microphone muffs, branded, of course, in front of her chest. That’ll show those moderators!

Amanda is loving her break (Picture: @noholdenback)

She wrote alongside the photo: ‘Happy 2020 I’m all heart!’

Ah, we see what you did there.

Of course the trap worked a treat and a bunch of thirsty punters took to the comments section to share their insight which, in most cases, is NSFW.

It’s not the first time the host has taken her muffs on holiday after, in July, she posed by the pool with her mic muff from her breakfast gig she hosts alongside Jamie Theakston resting on her body.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B0n4FybFZyf/

The Britain’s Got Talent star is evidently looking forward to 2020, as she posted a more poignant message in the evening while celebrating with husband Chris Hughes and their children, 13-year-old Alexa and Seven-year-old Hollie.

‘I started 2019 with great determination and a new headspace which was to suffer no fools, to put my energy into good people and honestly not give a damn about the rest!’ she wrote.

‘It’s hard because I’m naturally a people pleaser .. but it’s paid off and I have never felt stronger or happier.

‘Most importantly I never forget how lucky I am to have such love and true friends surrounding me. Thank you for your positivity and support!! Here’s to an even bigger 2020! #newdecade.’

Zoe Kravitz has blessed us with a look into her wedding with Karl Glusman, to round up a pretty special year.

The Batman star and Nocturnal Animals actor tied the knot in a seriously lavish ceremony in Paris back in June, surrounded by their A-list friends and family.

And, seven months after saying ‘I do’, the 31-year-old has shared snaps from the bash.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a string of stunning black-and-white photos from the big day, simply captioned ‘June 29th, 2019.’

One snap saw the bride surrounded by her Big Little Lies co-stars, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley, giving us all the reunion of dreams.

While another showed her cuddling up to Alicia Keys, before tucking into her dinner with her husband.

Bride. Goals.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6waUd_Jj-r/

Parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, along with her beau Jason Mamoa, made an appearance in one upload, as they gathered with Zoe at the top of a staircase.

Cara Delevingne and girlfriend Ashley Benson, Denzel Washington and Donald Glover were also among the lucky guests who scored an invite.

Ours must have got lost in the post…

Zoe and Karl started dating back in 2016, making their relationship official by cuddling up at a Kings Of Leon concert.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6wZa8DpsN_/

They announced their engagement two years later, and legally wed at the beginning of 2019, before celebrating their union with those closest to them.

And the actress has a lot to celebrate, after it was revealed she will be taking on the role of Catwoman in The Batman, starring opposite Robert Pattinson.

Side note: We are living for the news.

It seems as though Rob – aka Batman – agrees, admitting he can’t wait to work with his pal.

Chatting to Entertainment Tonight about the news, he said: ‘Yes! Zoe’s great and I’ve known her for years and years and years.

‘I mean, I’ve been friends with her for like ten years and she’s brilliant.’

We totally, completely agree.

Dracula’s sexuality explained: He’s not bisexual – think about it

Claes Bang as Dracula
Claes Bang stars as the most seductive Dracula yet (Picture: BBC)

Dracula will be launching on BBC One tonight with fans of the legendary vamp finally able to get their teeth stuck into one of history’s sexiest fables.

Claes Bang stars as the delectable beast in Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss’s re-telling of the Bram Stoker tale, packed with gore, nudity and even melted sex toys rarely found on primetime BBC.

Dracula’s opening trailer had fans captivated and petrified in equal measure, but many speculated the fanged villain would be entering 2020 bisexual. This is not the case – although, he has always been a ‘homoerotic’ creature, according to Gatiss and Moffat.

Actually, he doesn’t have sex with anyone.

‘He drinks their blood and that’s a distinction you have to make in life – they’re not the same thing,’ Moffatt teased to Metro.co.uk. ‘But inevitably Dracula has been seen as a very sexy character – one night with him is worth giving your life up for.’

‘It’s not but it should feel that way,’ the showrunner continued. ‘I think Dracula has correctly identified the weakness in the human race: that we lose our minds when sex is involved and he romances them into a clinch with his teeth into their necks.’

‘He has very broad taste,’ Claes, 53, teased.

Moffat went on: ‘If you look at the first Hammer one, the person he’s most excited about biting is Peter Cushing. There’s a real homoerotic moment – he really goes for it. He’s not bisexual; he’s bihomicidal – and that the point people should make.’

However, Dracula certainly doesn’t steer away from the sexy but is as comical as it is terrifying and seductive. In tonight’s opening instalment, Claes is joined by Dolly Wells as heroine Sister Agatha, Joanna Scanlan as Mother Superior and John Heffernan as Dracula’s unfortunate house guest, Jonathan Harker.

Dracula airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One.

Nights out or nights in? (Picture: Sofia Vergara/Haily Bieber)

While the rest of us rang in the New Year with a sparkler and some cheap fizz, our favourite stars had bigger plans set for 2020.

When you’re rich enough to start your own firework show, who needs to leave the house?

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin had the cutest celebrations of them all as they only needed each other to see out the decade.

The singer sat on a sofa on a porch as his wife sat on his lap wearing similar silk outfits.

Cute, cosy, AND photogenic? This is getting unfair.

Hailey uploaded a series of photos of the two kissing as the clock struck midnight and captioned the post: ‘please be my New Year’s kiss even when I’m 80!!!’

Where’s Reign and Penelope? (Picture: @letthelordbewithyou)

Meanwhile, Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Scott Disick opted for a more wholesome night with his ‘best friend’: his son Mason.

The ‘Lord’ – who shares Mason, 10, Penelope, seven, and Reign, five, with Kourtney Kardashian – took his son to a lovely sushi dinner to celebrate what’s to come.

Mason even had some beginner chopsticks and a big ol’ ‘Happy New Year’ paper hat.

Uh, where’s your hat, Scott?

The 36-year-old shared the post with his 23.2 million followers and wrote: ‘Happy new year from me and my best friend.’

Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom rode on the same wholesome train as they partied – well, laid in bed – with their adorable dogs.

So far, Katy and Orlando have been the most relatable as being in bed before midnight is the way to go.

Wearing 2020 light-up glasses, the pair held on to their puppies and wrote: ‘when you’re in bed before midnight is when you know you’re starting the New Year right #2020.’

To be honest, New Year glasses stopped working the moment 2010 came along and we’re still sad about it.

However, that didn’t stop Sofia Vergara and her husband Joe Manganiello from rocking the best 2020 spectacles around.

Holding on to what looks like a very concerned Chihuahua (who looked just as concerned during Christmas), Joe beamed at the camera while Modern Family star Sofia pulled her best model moves.

From the bamboo seats and palm trees, we’re guessing their new year’s was a lot cooler than ours.

It appeared Post Malone took a little tumble after his New Year’s Eve performance in Times Square overnight.

Hey, happens to the best of us. Especially on New Year’s Eve

After his epic performance, the Rockstar rapper was seen being helped back onto the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve stage in New York on Tuesday night after seemingly falling into the crowd.

It’s not clear if he was already down with fans before the moment, or fell from the stage, but it was evident he needed a helping hand back to solid ground as four burly men gathered to make sure he was ok.

As several members of the stage crew rushed to Post’s aid, they picked him back up and got him on his feet once more as punters also reached out.

He was clearly in good spirits about the moment, as he shared a laugh with punters in the front row who got a close-up with the performer as he spent time down in the trenches.

You could say he was a man of the people.

The 24-year-old took to the stage in a resplendent pink suit – so fetching for a NYE celebration if we do say so ourselves – as he belted out hits Circles as well as Congratulations.

In videos uploaded to social media, the crowd was clearly loving it, as he celebrated the end of the year on stage before the famous ball dropped.

He headlined the gig alongside BTS, as well as pop/rock icon Alanis Morissette, but it was the former he seemingly struck up a friendship with.

In moments captured by eagle-eyed fans, Post appeared deep in conversation with BTS’s leader RM as they had a chat amid the madness and mayhem of New Year. Then in a sweet move, as the band had a group hug after the countdown they invited Post to join. Guys – our hearts cannot handle the cute.

Also, er, do we smell a collaboration on our hands?

The band – made up of RM, Jin, Jungkook, Jimin, V, Suga and J-Hope – took to the red stairs in the middle of the Square as the Army filled the atmosphere with cheers as they performed Make It Right and Boy With Luv.

The group was mostly dressed in sleek black ensembles (except RM’s cosy grey coat, which we need in our lives) as they showed off their famous dance moves not hampered by their warmer outfits to compete with freezing NYC temperatures, may we add.

What a night!

Is Messiah anti-Islamic? Jordan calls on Netflix to axe controversial drama

The country of Jordan has called on Netflix to axe the controversial thriller Messiah, which has been branded ‘anti-Islamic’ ahead of its premiere.

The show follows a CIA agent (True Detective’s Michelle Monaghan) investigating a mysterious figure named Al-Masih (Mehdi Dehbi), who has gathered a legion of followers after proclaiming to have been sent to Earth to help humanity by a higher power.

Now, the Royal Commission of Jordan wants Netflix to ban the programme from airing. Messiah was partially shot in the country, with filming permitted from the approval of episode outlines, but it seems that the narrative of the show has proved too controversial.

‘Having been made aware of [the show’s] content, the RFC has asked officially the management of Netflix to refrain from streaming it in Jordan,’ the Commission said in a statement.

‘The story is purely fictional and so are the characters, yet the RFC deems that the content of the series could be largely perceived or interpreted as infringing on the sanctity of religion.’

The statement concluded: ‘While still standing firmly by its principles, notably the respect of creative freedom, the RFC – as a public and responsible institution – cannot condone or ignore messages that infringe on the Kingdom’s basic laws.’

This is not the first bout of backlash the show has received, either. Over 4,000 people have signed up to a petition calling for the show to be banned or face a boycott as a result.

Viewers who have seen the trailer claim the show will be anti-Islamic and disrespectful to their beliefs. Some Christians also accused Messiah of being blasphemous.

In response to the controversy and the claims of the Royal Commission of Jordan, Netflix explained: ‘Messiah is a work of fiction. It is not based on any one character, figure or religion.

‘All Netflix shows feature ratings and information to help members make their own decisions about what’s right for them and their families.’

Particular anger has been caused over Dehbi’s character, whose name is similar to the evil figure in Islamic eschatology called Al-Masih ad-Dajjal, and was branded a liar, compared to the Antichrist.

In the series, Al-Masih aims to cross 2,000 Palestinian Syrians over the border of Israel.

Showrunner Michael Petroni has defended Messiah, insisting he didn’t set out to offend anyone’.

‘It’s not like I’m welcoming backlash,’ he stressed to Associated Foreign Press. ‘We expect that there’s going to be a lot of noise around the show, and a lot of debate. I’m hoping for debate.’

Messiah is available to stream now via Netflix.

Holly Willoughby brought in the New Year by focusing on ‘kindness and love’ amid ITV feud rumours.

The This Morning presenter is leaving the past behind her as she rung in the new decade by enjoying fireworks over the water at a mystery location.

In a post shared with her followers, the star stood with her husband Dan Baldwin and their three kids Harry, 10, Belle, eight, and Chester, five, and welcomed 2020 with a bang.

She captioned her picture: ‘To kindness and love … the things we need most… #ifyouknowyouknow #happy2020 xxx’.

The blazing 2020 sign hovering over the water just made her caption so much better as she held on to a glass of bubbly and cheered for the New Year.

Her ask for ‘kindness and love’ comes after This Morning was rocked with rumours that co-host Phillip Schofield got Amanda Holden banned from the show.

Not only that, but sources claimed that Phillip had an ‘attitude’ problem which created a ‘toxic work environment’.

The presenter was in the centre of speculation he ‘blocked’ Amanda from filling in for Holly Willoughby on This Morning when she took off to Australia to host I’m A Celebrity..

Amanda seemed to have referenced the so-called feud in her own  New Year’s post where she shared her ‘top nine’ photos from the year.

She posted: ‘#topnine #2019 has turned out to be one of the best and most extraordinary years of my life. So many ambitions and dreams realised. In the centre of it all my beautiful family. ..My anchor Chris.

‘None of it means anything without them. I started 2019 with great determination and a new headspace which was to suffer no fools, to put my energy into good people and honestly not give a damn about the rest!

The presenter continued: ‘It’s hard because I’m naturally a people pleaser .. but it’s paid off and I have never felt stronger or happier.

‘Most importantly I never forget how lucky I am to have such love and true friends surrounding me. Thank-you for your positivity and support!! Here’s to an even bigger 2020!’

Love is already in the air as 2020 gets underway – WWE superstars Charlotte Flair and Andrade are engaged.

The couple – who were linked late in 2018 before confirming their romance – have taken their relationship to the next level after the current United States champion proposed to his partner, making the sweet announcement on New Year’s Eve.

Sharing a photo of herself snuggled up to her husband-to-be, Charlotte simply wrote: ‘Si. @AndradeCienWWE.’

The Mexican sensation didn’t share a snap, but he did confirm the news with his own tweet revealing his excitement, saying: ‘She said siiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! (sic)’

Their engagement – which means Raw’s bizarre wedding skit between Bobby Lashley, Lana, Rusev and Liv Morgan won’t be the only upcoming nuptials in the world of wrestling – was met with congratulations from fans, fellow stars and even BT Sport – the new home of WWE in the UK – as everyone send well wishes their way.

The channel’s official Twitter account posted: ‘More good news to start 2020 with… Congratulations, @AndradeCienWWE and @MsCharlotteWWE’

Former women’s tag team champion Billie Kay – one half of the IIconics with childhood friend Peyton Royce – shared heart, champagne and party hat emojis and gushed: ‘Ahhhhh congratulations’

No Way Jose replied to Charlotte’s post, writing: ‘Amazing!! Congratulations y’all!!! (sic)’

Responding to Andrade’s post, he added: ‘What?!?! Felicidades, hermano!! (sic)’

Charlotte’s dad, legendary WWE star Ric Flair, recently hit out at the way his daughter is being featured on television.

He ranted: ‘I am not happy with the way they are doing it; I guess she’s been put in that role. Number one, I need to be left out of the equation because she has surpassed me in talent.

‘She’s never gonna be around for 40 years which is why I’m still a household name. I think they look at it and say, “Well, she’s like her dad. She’ll do anything we want her to do because she’s a pro.”

‘I don’t think she’ll ever be bored with her storylines and not participate at its fullest. That part is wrong on Corey’s part. But as far as her being the best athlete in the company, a Hall of Famer already, and being the biggest star of the women’s division, he’s spot on.’
