Dadi Freyr representing Iceland at Eurovision Song Contest 2020 as selection show plagued by technical difficulties

Dadi Freyr will be representing Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, after a tense selection show.

The singer, and his band Gangamagnid, managed to make it through the finals in Rotterdam thanks to their absolute bop, Think About Things.

But the show was marred by technical difficulties when the music for their performance went too fast, meaning the whole thing had to be stopped.

After a lengthy delay, they smashed the song, and beat metal band DIMMA, Iva, Nina Dagbjört and Isold & Helga to the crown.

And fans were thrilled at the news, flocking to Twitter to celebrate.

‘I CANT BELIEVE HE DONE THAT. HE ACTUALLY SNATCHED OUR WIGS. HE REALLY DID THAT,’ a follower screamed.

‘In this house we stan Dadi Freyr,’ another said.

One posted: ‘DADI FREYR WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ICELAND IS SNAPPING AGAIN!!!!!’

While many, many more tipped Dadi to win the entire competition.

Dadi Freyr already has some famous fans in the mix, with Russell Crowe raving about Think About Things on social media.

Rylan also got in on the action, sharing a video of the song on Twitter,

‘This could do well,’ he posted.

Well, he’s not wrong…

The semi-finals will take place on 12 and 14 May, with the grand final taking place on 16 May.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that James Newman will be representing the UK this year.

He will be hoping to win – or at least get onto the left hand side of the leaderboard – with his song My Last Breath.

Speaking about the upcoming competition, he said: ‘It’s such an honour to be representing the United Kingdom this year at Eurovision – I still can’t quite believe it! I’m also so proud to be taking My Last Breath as the song.

‘I wrote it with some of my best friends, who are amazingly talented songwriters in their own right. I knew it was “the one” after first recording it.

‘I just loved the simplicity and universal message of the song.’

Bring it on.

Caprice Bourret has reportedly been banned from attending the final of Dancing On Ice after the model ‘publicly slated’ ITV.

She had split from her first partner, Hamish Gaman, and been partnered up with Oscar Peter, but ended up pulling out of the show altogether at the start of February.

Insiders have since claimed that Caprice is ‘not welcome’ to come to the final, despite bosses planning to reunite all of this year’s skaters for the last show next Sunday.

A source told The Daily Star: ‘Producers want the final to be a celebration. There is so much planned for the big night.

‘So the last thing they want is for the focus to be on Caprice. They don’t want her there. Her exit is not something they want to dwell on.

‘So everyone will be back apart from her.’

Caprice, 48, had been an early favourite for the show, but rumoured issues within her partnership meant her performance on the ice was overshadowed by everything happening behind the scenes.

Her rep had told Metro.co.uk when she pulled out of the contest: ‘It’s true that Caprice is no longer participating in Dancing On Ice.

‘It’s been a hard few months and she’s had to keep silent for contractual reasons.

‘Her mental wellbeing has been affected over the last two months and recent stories leaked to the press are not only salacious but extremely hurtful.

‘Now she’s taking some time to recover and look after herself and her family.’

An ITV spokesperson added: ‘Caprice will not be taking any further part in the series’.

The source added that regardless of whoever was at fault, ‘execs are keen to move on from the whole thing and focus on the contestants who’ve worked hard.’

Caprice had publicly criticised the show for having ‘no duty of care’, but ITV sources said contestants have access to a psychologist and are offered counselling.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to ITV and Caprice’s reps for comment.

Harvey Weinstein is ‘very, very low’ and ‘going stir crazy’ under guard in hospital room

Harvey Weinstein’s spokesperson has said the disgraced director is finding his stay in Bellevue Hospital difficult and is ‘very, very low’.

His spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, said he spent an hour and half with Harvey on Friday, telling Reuters: ‘It’s scaring him. I think he’s melancholy. He’s very, very low right now.

‘He doesn’t like being left alone. When no one’s there, he said he’s just staring at the four walls. He can go stir crazy just staring at the emptiness.’

Harvey is under guard in his hospital room, after being admitted for suffering chest pains instead of being taken to Rikers Island jail.

He had been found guilty on two out of five counts of a criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree, and could face up to 29 years in prison when he is sentenced in March.

Harvey’s room is apparently ‘bare’ with just a bed, stainless steel toilet with no seat and large windows, and guards are stationed outside his door.

He is reportedly allowed to make limited phone calls from a common area.

It comes after his defence lawyer, Arthur Aidala had claimed he was ‘unbelievably energised’ to ‘fight for justice’ earlier in the week.

Arthur told Page Six: ‘We left him at night after he was admitted. Yesterday morning, again with him at Bellevue hospital, I expected to see him distraught. He was unbelievably energized. Motivated to have his legal team fight for justice.’

One point they want to argue at an appeal is Juror 11, a woman who had written a novel about ‘predatory older men’ who they believed may have had a biased opinion, but this is just ‘one of’ the issues they had with the trial.

He added: ‘Next step is an appeal, which could take another nine months to a year. He hasn’t hired an appellate team as yet. A trial lawyer will also have to be at his side to give colour, explain the trial, know the transcript.

‘In the midst of it all and including the chest pains, he was complimentary on how well the court officers treated him. He said they couldn’t have been nicer.’

Rylan Clark-Neal has revealed that he called up Ainsley Harriott to ask if it was okay to take over his presenting role on Ready Steady Cook.

The BBC cooking competition is returning after ten years with the Supermarket Sweep presenter as host – and Rylan made sure to get the show’s previous presenter’s approval first.

Speaking to Weekend Magazine, he said: ‘The first thing I did when the BBC asked me to join was call Fern [Britton; original presenter] and Ainsley, it’s the way I’ve been brought up.

‘If I know someone’s done a job before me, I ask, “Are you all right with me doing it?” Both of them were so lovely. It’s been ten years since the show was on, and a lot has changed since then.’

The 31-year-old also revealed that he ‘genuinely grew up’ watching the original adaptation, which ran between 1994-2010. The show was originally presented by Fern Britton between 1994-2000, with Ainsley taking over and hosting until 2010.

‘I genuinely grew up on it,’ he continued. ‘I came home and Ready Steady Cook was on the TV waiting for me. It made me think, “I’m home!”’

The revival’s format is pretty identical to the original show – two contestants are paired up with a professional chef, with Mike Reid, Romy Gill, Ellis Barrie, Akis Petretzikis and Anna Haugh set to appear in this series.

For the first challenge, the contestants bring in ingredients on a £10 budget and working with their pro chef, they must cook a dish using the ingredients in just 20 minutes or less.

The second challenge has been given a slight change – now the studio audience have to hold up cards with the show’s red tomato or green pepper on them, which corresponds with the two teams.

The contestants then have to pick cards at random and come up with a meal using the ingredients displayed in the cards in 10 minutes or less. The winning team will, as before, be chosen by the audience.

Rylan is also pleased with the tweaks and thinks long-term fans of the show will welcome the revival.

‘It’s still got the bits we all loved, and you’ll still see amazing dishes cooked in just ten minutes!’ he said.

Ready Steady Cook will be broadcast Monday to Friday at 4:30pm on BBC One.

Icelandic band Hatari brought Palestinian singer Bashur Murad on stage to perform with them in front of the Palestinian flag on an Icelandic Eurovision competition show – following on from a similar protest at last year’s Eurovision contest.

The show, titled Songvakeppnin 2020, is a televised competition broadcast in Iceland to determine which musical act will be selected to represent the country in this year’s Eurovision song contest.

Hatari, who represented Iceland in the 2019 contest, appeared on the show’s final as a musical guest – and it was during their performance that they brought Bashur up for the memorable moment.

As Bashur appeared on stage, the Palestinian flag was displayed in front of them on the video screens.

And if that wasn’t enough, an entire choir of children later joined the band on stage as they then performed their hit Hatrid Mun Sigra.

Sharing footage of the moment to Twitter, one fan wrote: ‘I didn’t think I could love Hatari anymore than what I already did, but oh they proved me wronggg.’

‘Of all Hatari songs they could play tonight, I’m so glad they picked this one,’ another fan added. ‘Hello @Bashur__Murad!’

‘OMG!!! Hatari and Bashar Murad!!’ another excited fan wrote.

Hatari had conducted a similar protest during last year’s final of the European singing contest, as they protested against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the violation of Palestinian human rights.

While the country’s points were being announced during the results, the Hatari band members could be seen holding up banners in support of Palestine.

However, cameras quickly moved away, with hosts Bar Rafaeli and Ezra Tel looking somewhat uneasy.

Last year’s contest was notably held in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, with many protests being held, calling for a boycott of the contest to support Palestinians. The contest was held in the wake of violence between the Israeli army and militants in Gaza.

And during the first semi-final, protesters set up shops outside Expo Tel Aviv, where Eurovision was held, and in Habima Square to demand the removal of Israel’s blockade on Gaza.

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, following the country’s big win at last year’s show.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 will be broadcast between 12-16 May.

Love Island’s Paige Turley has teased a leap year marriage proposal to Finley Tapp.

The couple won the first winter edition of the ITV2 dating show last month, netting themselves £50,000 in the process.

And, as they enjoyed a date night in London, the 22-year-old revealed she was thinking about their future.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a snap of herself and her beau looking all kinds of glam at Hakkasan.

But it was the caption that set our hearts racing.

‘First date night in London!! You know what they say about the 29th of Feb…,’ she wrote alongside the shot.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9Kq0slJMJu/

Right on cue, fans were already planning a potential Love Island wedding.

‘Engagements happen on 29th Feb,’ one commented.

‘Better get on one knee the paigy baby,’ another joked.

While one fan asked the question on all our minds, adding: ‘Did u propose Paige? (sic).’

We’ll be waiting with bated breath for an invite to that wedding…

But Paige and Finn (or Pinn?) aren’t the only Islanders who are looking towards the future, as Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman have already discussed kids.

The pair – who finished the ITV2 series as runners up – revealed they are already planning to start a family.

Speaking on their villa exit, Siannise said: ‘That’s why we are so connected as well because we have the same feelings about family.

‘Kids are always something I’ve wanted and I know it is what Luke wants, too.’

Not shying away from the topic, Luke T added: ‘We’ve said once we’re stable financially, and in our relationship, I think we’d do it.’

We’re guessing Luke Mabbott will be first in line for babysitting shifts…

Natalia Gordienko will represent Moldova in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest following her win at O Melodie Pentru Europa 2020.

The Moldovan singer won the televised competition, that finds an act to represent the country for this year’s contest, with her original song Prison.

After a tough competition, which saw 19 acts take to the stage, Natalia was declared the winner, chosen by 50% public voting and 50% jury voting.

Natalia is set to perform in the second Eurovision semi-final, which will be held on 14 May.

This is not her first time taking part in Eurovision – she also represented Moldova in the 2006 contest alongside Arsenium and Connect-R with the song Loca. The country subsequently finished 20th, and scored 22 points.

Natalia got her start in music early in childhood. She used to sing in her school choir, and studied piano at music school. She also spent ten years dancing for her school’s dance ensemble.

In 2005, she became the singer of the band Millennium, who were invited to participate in the Golden Stag international competition in Romania that same year.

She also attempted a career as a DJ with a project called DJ Star in 2009, and she released her debut solo album Time in 2010.

This will be Moldova’s 16th time participating in Eurovision, after they first debuted in the competition in 2005.

Their best result was a third-place finish in 2017 with SunStroke Project and their song Hey Mamma, while the country has also hit the top ten a further three times in their debut year 2007 and 2018.

Moldova have also qualified for the final a total of ten times, but unfortunately, they only made it as far as the semi-finals at last year’s contest.

So with Natalia representing, here’s hoping their luck will change this year.

This year’s Eurovision contest will take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, following the country’s big win at last year’s show.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 will be broadcast between 12-16 May.

Bella Hadid is queen of the runway at Paris Fashion Week in two daring outfit choices

We stan a fashion queen (Picture: Rex)

Bella Hadid was the absolute queen of the runway at Paris Fashion Week – as she wowed us all in not one, but two outfits.

Taking to the runway, the model’s first choice of attire was a stunning sheer lace gown – and it looked so detailed.

The outfit was inspired by the Victorian era, featuring puffy lace sleeves and a sheer white skirt.

Bella completed her look with shimmering earrings, a pair of glittery high heels and a leather belt and sword.

Yes, a sword.

Later on, she reappeared wearing yet another outfit – this time, she donned a leather bodice, paired with black boots and – believe it or not – a necklace made of actual garlic.

Who else could pull it off like her?

Bella has recently proved to us how much of a fashion icon she is – earlier in February, she hit the Marc Jacobs catwalk for New York Fashion Week, wearing a sequinned black gown and matching heels, completing her look full-length gloves and diamond necklace.

And back in January, she opted for a daring design at Jean Paul Gaultier’s fashion show – a very eye-catching sheer gown that had many lacy black patterns embroidered onto it.

Later on in the show, she also wore a short black corset dress and frilly skirt, complete with a matching pair of gloves.

And as she walked towards the end of the runway, she in turn revealed that the skirt was actually titled upwards.

Although she seems pretty confident, Bella seemed to admit in the past that she did not ‘feel powerful’ when modelling for Victoria’s Secret, as she praised her pal Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty lingerie line.

‘Rihanna’s amazing,’ Bella was said to have told crowds at the Vogue Fashion Festival, according to WWD.

‘For me, that was the first time on a runway that I felt really sexy. Because when I first did Fenty, I was doing other lingerie shows and I never felt powerful on a runway, like, in my underwear.’

Bella also thanked Rihanna for boosting her confidence to strut her stuff on the catwalk the way she wanted to.

She added: ‘I like being another character. I think at this point I don’t necessarily love being myself sometimes.

‘Sometimes on the runway you either get nervous or you forget how your legs move.’

Well, we’ve all been there at some stage in our lives.

Four video games they should definitely turn into movies – Reader’s Feature

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
Half-Life 2 artwork
Half-Life 2 – would it make a good movie? (pic: Valve)

Following the success of Sonic The Hedgehog at the cinema a reader makes suggestions for four more video game movies.

So, Sonic The Hedgehog, of all things, looks to be the highest-grossing video game movie of all time and the secret to its success is… 90s nostalgia and coming out at a quiet time of the year when there weren’t many other kids films out? Not exactly the most cunning secret to blockbuster success, is it? Especially when the most potent 90s nostalgia is the return of Jim Carrey rather than Sonic himself.

But the movie is fine. Not as good as Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, which in turn was still not that great, but at least they’re both functioning movies that don’t make you think that everybody involved has a) never played a video game before in their life b) never made a movie before in their life. Which pretty much sums up the rest of video game movies.

Since there is some sign of progress, I thought I’d come up with this short list of the games that do have some promise for being turned into a movie. Whether it’ll ever happen though, who knows…

The Legend Of Zelda
For some reason whenever anyone talks about possible Nintendo movies the two that come up the most are Mario (which, of course, already has a film) and Metroid. Despite the fact that Mario’s story and world is surreal nonsense (it’s fine for the game but not for a movie) and Metroid doesn’t have any speaking characters (I think we’d all like to forget Adam). Zelda though is a relatively straightforward fantasy adventures, with a large cast of articulate villains and allies. Sure, Link doesn’t speak but this would be a way to let him, and give him a personality, without spoiling the immersion of the games. In other words, there’d be an actual point to turning it into a film.

In previous years Zelda hasn’t been as big a name, but Breath Of The Wild has given it a real boost so now is the best chance there’s been for a movie (or Netflix show, I don’t really care which). My preference would be for a CGI animation, but then I’d say that for most of these as to my mind that keeps a connection to the source material that’s lost when you’ve just got someone wandering around in Lara Croft cosplay.

Fortnite
Now, don’t groan but I think this could actually work. The obvious problem with Fortnite is that it doesn’t have any well-known characters or story but I think the way to do it is to have some ordinary players sucked into the world as if it was real, like the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon or something. Hijinks would obvious ensue but if they had the nerve there’d also be the opportunity to make a serious point: that pretending to shoot people 24 hours a day is not the healthiest of fantasies.

With a decent script and actors I think it could work well, without being too preachy, and would actually add some kind of purpose to these films, beyond just: look, someone dressed up as one of your favourite characters acting nothing like they do in the games.

Overwatch
The weird thing about Overwatch it has a really complex lore, with every character having a really involved backstory, but absolutely none of that is in the games. I’ve picked up some of it just by being a fan but there’s a lot of stuff that could make for good stories and a good film. And again, there’d be an actual purpose to it. It wouldn’t just be trying to copy a few scenes from the game (it can’t, it’s a multiplayer game) but would be offering a proper story and characterisation where even quite dedicated fans might not know the details.

You’d have to narrow the group of main characters down a lot but I don’t see that as a problem as a lot of them are interlinked, so you just pick a group like Brigitte and her clan or Tracer and Widowmaker and you’ve still got yourself plenty of scope for a sequel.

Half-Life
There are lots of problems with suggesting games with a complex story for turning into a movie, not least of which is that a story game can run anything from 12 hours to 60+ and often times they’re heavily based on an existing film. There’s no point in Uncharted or GTA because they already rip off tons of movies that already exist. Which is fine in the context of a game but not when you want to turn it back into being a film.

Half-Life borrows a lot from Aliens and other 80s and 90s sci-fi action films but most of it isn’t very specific. More importantly, and again I think this is the key for all these choices, there’d be an actual point to the film because it could distil the story down into a more digestible form and may even be the most obvious way to set up a third game. I’d consider Half-Life 2 to be one of my favourite games ever, but I’ll be honest, I’m a little hazy as to what exactly is going on in the story, especially the details and stuff that was just hinted at. Make a movie though and I can catch back up and then look forward to a new game.

Weekend Hot Topic, part 2: Best online multiplayer games

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
Fortnite artwork
Everyone loves Fortnite (pic: Epic Games)

GameCentral readers discuss their favourite online titles, with everything from Apex Legends to Left 4 Dead.

The subject for this week’s Hot Topic was suggested by reader Hammeriron, who asked what it is about the game you like so much and how much have you played it. Has the game been running for a long time and if so when did you start and how regularly do you return to it?

Although most of the choices were from the current generation, we still had a wide variety of suggestions, from current favourites such as Fortnite and PUBG to less obvious choices like Splatoon 2.

Free to enjoy
I hate to be the boring one but I think it’s got to be Fortnite. It’s certainly the online game I’ve played the most, after never really being that bothered previously. The fact that it’s free obviously makes it very appealing but it is really a very good game. I don’t think people realise how involved the tactics can be with the building and although the gunplay isn’t exactly Destiny it’s still pretty good and much more than you’d expect from a free game.

There’s also the fact hat it’s constantly being updated with new and wacky features. That’s where Epic Games make their money, with the Battle Passes, but I have rarely been disappointed and the new one with the spies and everything is particular good.

A lot of times you assume that something is popular only because it’s bland enough to appeal to the lowest common denominator but I genuinely think Fortnite is a great game. I’ll probably be playing it for months, and possibly years to come and there’s not many other games I’d say that of.
Constable Keef

Time to kill
I’m not a big one for online multiplayer but I did really enjoy the two Titanfall games. Maybe it’s just because they had big stompy robots in them but I enjoyed that aspect and the parkour. My problem with multiplayer games though is that you die so quickly and I’ve never really understood why. Especially in the Titans you’d think you’d be able to survive a bit of light gunfire but you still die in a few seconds if you don’t know what you’re doing.

I guess the problem is that if it took longer there’d be very few clean kills, as people had to share assist skills and people keep being able to run away without being finished off. I’d still like to see a game experiment with much more heavily armoured characters though, I’m sure that’d be fun as a change if nothing else.

Never-ending story
PUBG has become my new favourite I think. It’s a game that could’ve been even bigger than it is if they’d fixed the bugs and probably made it free-to-play, but for me it’s still the best battle royale game. The atmosphere of the game is fantastic and almost feels like a live horror movie at times, as you hear doors being bashed in as people search for you or you get sniped by an unseen enemy miles away.

It’s a game that’s never really felt finished though, from the graphics to the controls to the bugs. It is certainly better nowadays but I think a lot of fans have had enough now and are happy to move on to other pastures.

Escape From Tarkov feels like it could be the spiritual successor but I haven’t got into it nearly as much yet. For me the ultimate battle royale, especially one with a more serious tone, has yet to be made and PUBG still shows how far away that dream is.

Wondrous co-op
I’m not sure this really counts but I will say the best online experience I’ve ever had is in Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Seeing other people’s ghosts moving around and reading all their message adds a really odd sense of community even though you’re still alone for most of the games.

But call in someone to help out with a troublesome boss is a great feeling, as you see them running towards battle ready to help. With all the bowing and saluting it all feels very formal and polite, which is not how I’d normally describe online gaming.

In terms of more traditional games I’d probably go for Apex Legends of the recent battle royale crowd. The gunplay is definitely the best and I like the default three-player co-op set-up. The art and guns is kind of bland though, so it’s probably a good job it’s free.

Left without a sequel
It’s Left 4 Dead 2 for me. I loved that game and it’s definitely the one I’ve played for the longest overall. For me it’s also the best zombie game as while they’re no threat individually the panic you get when they swarm in at you, or you face off one of the larger creatures, is amazing. For what is basically a horror game to still keep you on your toys after all this time is some achievement.

There’s plenty of fan mods and activity for the game on the PC but I don’t think it was ever particularly big on consoles, which is a shame given how much fun it was. I don’t think the Warhammer game Vermintide games were as big as I thought they’d be either, so maybe it’s more niche than I thought.

Even so, I have no idea why Valve have never done another one. I am looking forwards to seeing more of spiritual sequel Back 4 Blood though and I’m interested in giving Hunt: Showdown a go, as that sounds like it might be the closest thing to it for a long while.

Online world
It may not be a gamer’s game but the multiplayer game I’ve spent most time on is easily World Of Warcraft. I hadn’t played it for years but Classic got me back into it and I’ve really been enjoying everything.

It’s not multiplayer in the sense of a Call Of Duty style shooter but playing alongside so many other people and populating the world as if it’s real is great. It’s hard to say if it’ll ever get old but it’s lasted this long so I don’t see why it ever would.

Obvious answer
This is a difficult question for me, because for years the obvious answer would’ve been Halo. I still have probably spent more time on it than any other game but of course nowadays it’s not quite the force it was. Halo 4 and 5 were both disappointing and now everything is having to be rebooted. Which I agree with, but it’s a shame and it’s obvious that Bungie leaving pulled the heart out of it.

It’s also got the problem that the original way it used to play is now deemed very old fashioned, but if it tries to become Call Of Duty, which it was with 4 and 5, it just ends up annoying older fans and seeming like a wannabe to everyone else.

I’m hopeful for Halo Infinite though. Microsoft seem to realise how important the game is and I like that they’re not just jumping on the Battle Royale bad wagon or anything. I’m a bit worried that it’s not an Xbox Series X exclusive, as I would’ve preferred something that was a big technological leap, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

My dream Xbox 360 remasters – Reader’s Feature

Frontlines: Fuel Of War key art
Frontlines: Fuel Of War – does it deserve a remaster? (pic: THQ)

A reader makes some unlikely requests for remasters, ranging from Frontlines: Fuel Of War to South Park Let’s Go Tower Defense Play!

The Xbox and PlayStation brands have produced many great games over the years. A few of the great games that they have produced, that I have enjoyed, are from the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 era.

The games that I have most enjoyed were on the Xbox 360 and with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 near the end of their life cycle there are quite a few games that I would love to see get a remaster. Below are the games what I feel deserve to be remastered on the next generation Xbox and PlayStation.

The Outfit (THQ)
This is one of the best shoot ‘em-ups for the Xbox, that I enjoyed playing in both single and multiplayer. This was originally an Xbox 360 launch title and offered a great campaign story along with a decent variety of options to use to fight your way through the levels. It added a great challenge to the player, as well as also added increased intensity in multiplayer and ensured hours of fun and enjoyment with friends online. Although single-player didn’t offer as much fun as the multiplayer it is still a great game to remaster and would allow newer players to enjoy this Xbox 360 classic.

Frontlines: Fuel Of War (THQ)

If there is one game THQ should be praised for it is shoot ‘em-up Frontlines: Fuel Of War. This was a first person shooter that not only offered a good single-player mode but also offered an impressive multiplayer mode. There were also various game types which allowed the control of vehicles, including helicopters and the option of placing various defences around the map. Based in the future, the game is actually well made for an Xbox 360 game and even today still holds up quite nicely for those who enjoy the Xbox 360 classics and would love to see it be remastered on next gen systems, and if possible a sequel.

Syndicate (EA)

If there is one shooter that helped the Xbox 360 become immensely popular it is Syndicate [Uh, what? – GC]. Like Frontlines, it is based in the future and was a great example of how first person shooters can be done right. It had a great story combined with multiplayer, great graphics, and good replayability. A next generation remaster of this game would give new gamers a chance to enjoy classic games from the past that they may have missed. Syndicate is one game that has been sadly, in my opinion, underrated and is worthy of a remaster.

South Park Let’s Go Tower Defense Play! (Microsoft Studios)

Arguably one of the best strategy games ever made for Xbox 360 under the South Park brand, this offered a great arcade experience while dealing with the limitations of the Xbox 360. However, this did not stop the game offering a wide range of content and a really great story mode, along with a multiplayer aspect. While The Stick Of Truth has been remastered this is one South Park game that deserves to not be excluded.

The Xbox 360 generation has produced many great classics and even today there are so many deserving of a remaster. The above are my personal choices which I’d love to see become a reality. With the Xbox 360 library being huge, and with many great games, there are still many today that I feel deserve to be given a remaster.

Netflix has blessed viewers with another bundle of dreamy Studio Ghibli films.

The streaming platform announced its acquisition of 21 films from the animation film studio in late January and has slowly staggered the release of the films.

Studio Ghibli is best known for putting out distinctive and masterful anime feature films that offer windows into fantastical new realms.

All in all, they make for perfect Sunday viewing, which is good news, because Netflix is dropping seven new titles today.

Once you’ve finished that, try Princess Mononoke (1997’s highest-grossing film in Japan, no less) and the more recent The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013).

Bob Geldof has opened up on the heartbreaking death of his daughter Peaches, who died in 2014 aged 25, sharing his continued ‘unbearable’ grief.

Mother-of-two Peaches was found dead at her home in Wrotham, Kent in April 2014, following a heroin overdose, leaving behind her two children Astala and Phaedra and husband Thomas Cohen

Her mother Paula Yates had died in the same way 14 years earlier.

Now her Boomtown Rats rocker father Bob has shared his continual grief over Peaches’ death, saying ‘time doesn’t heal’ the ‘ever present’ mourning, after attending the funeral of a friend’s son recently.

‘You’re driving along and you’re at the traffic lights and for no reason whatsoever, the person in question inhabits you and I’ll cry,’ the 68-year-old told Tommy Tiernan on Saturday night. ‘And then I’ll look around to make sure the people next door don’t see me or are taking a photo and posting it or something.’

Bob continued: ‘But that happens and that happens to everyone. And so you say, “ok it’s time to cry now”.

‘You just do it to the maximum because there’s no use holding it in.

‘Lights are green, or whatever, and then you go. That’ll always be there and you accommodate that.’

He added: ‘Once you understand the nature of this because it is boundless and it is bottomless. The grief and the abyss is infinite.’

The Live Aid founder previously revealed he struggled to deal with his grief and found himself writing a list of the ‘downsides of being alive’ during a particularly dark day following Peaches’ death.

However he was talked round by a close friend who told him not ‘do anything f***ing stupid’.

Sir Bob says his leaned on his friends during the difficult time and some would come and just sit with him.

‘I remember the lads coming around and just occasionally catching each other’s eye,’ he added. ‘Nobody really said anything but when they’d all gone I felt they had given me a bit of relief.’

Jacqueline Jossa has become best friends with Caitlyn Jenner since they took part on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here together.

And the reigning queen of the jungle has even had Kylie Jenner and co reach out to her following her win.

But she admitted that she managed to ‘embarrass herself’ when sending a message back to the Lip Kit queen during a meet up with Caitlyn.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk to celebrate her In The Style collection, the 27-year-old said: ‘I haven’t had any more [messages from Kylie]. We sent one to her, though! [Caitlyn] put me right on the spot.

‘It was when we were in Brighton and I went to see her afterwards, she was like, “Let’s send a message back!” She got her phone out.

‘It was so embarrassing, I was like, “Kylie I love you!” I think I ruined it, I think I messed it up.’

Kylie Jenner has not yet responded to Jacqueline’s last message (Picture: PA)

To be fair, we would have done the exact same as Jac.

Confessing that she received ‘no response’ from the self-made billionaire, the mum-of-two teased that all is not lost between them.

‘I got no response,’ she told us. ‘But then Caitlyn did an interview and said Kylie can’t wait to me meet me. In the interview.

‘I don’t know how much of that is true or not, but I read it.’

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7wfbgABmCL/

We stan a relatable queen.

But, while the EastEnders star’s friendship with Kylie may have hit a slight dead end, her bond with Caitlyn is growing even more now that they have left the jungle.

And she’s even planning to gift the Olympian with some of her In The Style collection – if it all hasn’t sold out by that point…

Discussing her new BFF, she continued: ‘She’s coming over soon, she text me yesterday. She text me saying, “I miss you, I’m coming over” and she told me the dates.

‘We’re going to meet up so I’m going to bring a load of In The Style stuff for her then.

‘She’s amazing, she’s actually amazing. Her whole personality and everything is brilliant.’

We totally agree.

Jacqueline Jossa’s In The Style collection is available now.

My Left Nut review: BBC Three’s short but sweet comedy is the male Derry Girls with balls, banter and grief

My Left Nut BBC Three
My Left Nut is a short but sweet teen drama (Picture: BBC)

At first sight, a comedy about thinking you might have testicular cancer doesn’t sound very funny.

But My Left Nut is different. Clearly aspiring to be something akin to the male version of Derry Girls, the short-but-sweet comedy proves itself to be reliably adept at balancing both pathos and belly laughs in a tale of adolescence that finishes as a touching ode to grief.

The story follows Mick (Nathan Quinn-O’Rawe) a normal teenage boy living in Belfast who discovers one day that his left testicle is strangely enlarged.

Across three half-hour episodes, My Left Nut follows its main character as he tries to navigate a blossoming relationship with the girl he likes, the basic teenage trials and tribulations – all with the foreboding knowledge that he could be rather seriously ill.

Like all the best teen dramas before it – Skins, Sex Education, Derry Girls – My Left Nut aspires to tell us the same stories we’ve seen time and time again but through a different lens.

This time, it’s basically a morality tale about male health; about how we should be open and honest about seeking help for our medical problems, and how trying to hide something that’s troubling us actually makes the situation ten times worse.

This is true for both Mick’s health worries – he’s immediately concerned, after googling his symptoms, that he is basically dying – but also the grief he feels, having lost his father to motor-neuron disease some years previously.

Mick’s relationship with mother Patricia is one of the most touching parts of the series (Picture: BBC)

The loss permeates, and its influence grows, as the series progresses, and it gives us a heart-warming insight into Mick’s testy relationship with his mother Patricia (Being Human’s Sinéad Keena).

Patricia starts the show as your typical, mouthy Irish Mammy (and don’t we love to see it) but there’s a stunning depth to all of the characters here, one that only deepens as the show goes on.

An hour and a half is not that long to tell a succinct story on television, but My Left Nut manages.

What it means is that you can watch the series front-to-back in less time than it would take you to do your daily commute back and forth from work.

Like Skins and Sex Education, My Left Nut has laughs but also something serious to say (Picture: BBC)

Key Moments

  1. The opening ten minutes, where Mick discovers the lump and the comedy dissipates for a second
  2. The raucous house party at the end of the third episode
  3. Sinead Keena’s tender performance as Irish Mam Patricia

Verdict

Clocking in at an hour and a half, My Left Nut may be short and sweet, but it uses every minute of its run-time to both provide the belly laughs and pack a punch.

Full of (enlarged) balls, a heavy dose of banter but also a sobering dollop of grief, the show manages to establish its characters quickly and, despite the reduced running time from most series, is mostly successful in endearing them to the audience.

It also has something new to add to the teen comedy conversation too; about resilience, about learning to deal with loss, maternal relationships, and perhaps most important of all; if anything’s wrong…please just go to the doctor.

My Left Nut is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.

Drake mentions Michael Jackson’s ‘palace for kids’ on new song When To Say When

Drake name-drops Michael Jackson on his new song When To Say When

Drake surprised fans early on Sunday morning with the release of two new songs, When To Say When and Chicago Freestyle.

And he holds no punches, making reference to Michael Jackson following the child molestation allegations against the late musician.

The In My Feelings rapper joked that he had ‘leaked’ his own music in an Instagram post and directed fans to listen on his Octobers Very Own Soundcloud.

There they found When To Say When, which flips Jay Z’s Song Cry and the genius sample of Bobby Glenn’s Sounds Like a Love Song, as well as borrowing lyrics from Eminem’s Superman on Chicago Freestyle.

On When To Say When Drake proudly acknowledges his musical accomplishments and how he retreated to his Canadian mansion to take a break over the past year.

‘Ayy, thirty-three years, I gave that to the game, Thirty-three mill’, I save that for the ring,’ Drizzy raps.

‘Five hundred weeks, I fill the charts with my pain, Five hundred mil and I fall back in the 6ix.’

He then adds: ‘Finally give you the n****s the space you need to exist, Michael Jackson s**t, but the palace is not for kids.’

Drake is referring to Michael’s famous former home Neverland, where children including actors Macaulay Culkin and Corey Feldman often visited.

However, it is also where Michael is accused of molesting Wade Robson and James Safechuck during their childhood. The two men, now adults, recounted their claims of abuse from the Thriller singer in the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.

Michael’s family have denied all allegations against him. The musician died in June 2009 at the age of 50 following an accidental overdose of propofol.

Drake fans have also interpreted the Michael Jackson lyric to be a response to criticism of his friendships with young actress Millie Bobby Brown and singer Billie Eilish.

Stranger Things star Millie, 16, defended her friendship with Drake, whom he often sends text messages, writing in a social media post: ‘Why u gotta make a lovey friendship ur headline? U guys are weird… for real.

‘I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance.’

Bad Guy singer Billie, 18, also defended the rapper after it emerged they also send texts to each other, and told Vogue: ‘The internet is such a stupid-a** mess right now. Everybody’s so sensitive.

‘A grown man can’t be a fan of an artist?

‘There are so many people that the internet should be more worried about. Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Trump? What the f*** is that s**?’

While When To Say When focuses on Drake’s professional career, Chicago Freestyle looks at his personal relationships.

‘But I do know one thing though, Women they come, they go/  Saturday, through Sunday, Monday, Monday through Sunday, yo/ Maybe I’ll love you one day, maybe we’ll someday grow/ Til then I’ll sit my drunk a*s on that runway, on this one way,’ Drake raps.

The music video for When To Say When sees Drake filming on the Marcy Projects where Jay Z grew up in Brooklyn, New York, while the Chicago Freestyle visuals – also directed by Theo Skudra – takes Drake to a dimly-lit bar and a recording studio.

Drake recently released the Future collaborations Desires and Life Is Good, but hasn’t released solo music since his 2018 album Scorpion. Since then, he’s teamed up with Chris Brown, Meek Mill, French Montana and Bad Bunny.

Netflix’s Love Is Blind meets coronavirus on SNL for ‘quarantine edition’ of Netflix fave

Love Is Blind and the ongoing panic of the coronavirus are two of the biggest talking points on the internet this week – so, naturally, it was only a matter of time before they got the SNL treatment.

But we’re pretty sure no one was expecting them to be combined – creating a special edition of the dating show as familiar faces pop up as they look for love in the pods… while under quarantine with coronavirus.

As they flirt outrageously to the walls separating them, the group quickly fall in love and find their soulmates while simultaneously being unable to meet their partner – in case of infection.

Among the contestants were 32-year-old Bethany (Heidi Gardner) – an aspiring stay-at-home mum who ‘just got off a cruise that ended up lasting two weeks’.

Meanwhile Dirk (John Mulaney) and picture-taker Raquel (Ego Nwodim) bond over their love of ‘exotic animal sandwiches’ that include bats and rats… so no surprise how they caught the disease.

Soon they were getting ‘light-headed and having the shivers’ as they began to catch feelings for one another… also because they are currently dealing with coronavirus.

Eventually they propose and meet, and were immediately fumigated to be on the safe side. Classic love story.

Oddly, we can kind of see this working because hey, what else do people get up to when they’re trapped in their rooms for two weeks alone anyway?

Unfortunately, the sketch never made it to air – and was cut for time as John Mulaney returned to the show as a host.

Love Is Blind is available on Netflix and SNL airs on Sky Comedy in the UK.

Jennifer Lopez admits she was gutted like the rest of us when she didn’t get an Oscar nomination for her role in Hustlers, and felt like she’d ‘let everybody down’.

The 50-year-old was hotly-tipped to score a supporting actress nod at the Academy Awards this year for her critically-acclaimed performance as stripper Ramona in Hustlers.

So it came as a huge surprise – and one of the biggest snubs – when Jennifer failed to receive recognition

And it seems J.Lo was just as disappointed as her fans.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey at the media mogul’s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Tour on Saturday, Jennifer explained: ‘I was sad, I was a little sad because there was a lot of buildup to it.

‘There were so many articles, I got so many good notices – more than ever in my career – and there was a lot of: “She’s going to get nominated for an Oscar, it’s going to happen, if it doesn’t you’re crazy”.’

Basically, we all got Jen’s hopes up.

The Love Don’t Cost A Thing singer continued: ‘I’m reading all the articles going: “Oh my god, could this happen?” And then it didn’t and I was like: “Ouch,” it was a little bit of a letdown.

‘Also I felt like my whole team – most of my team has been with me for years, 20, 25 years – and I think they had a lot of hopes on that and they wanted it too, so I felt like I let everyone down a little bit.’

Jennifer did receive a slew of other nominations for Hustlers, including a Golden Globe nod, but missed out on the big awards. However, she did scoop the best supporting actress gong at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards.

Hustlers also starred Constance Wu in the lead role as New York stripper Destiny, and told the story of how the dancers scammed wealthy Wall Street Bankers for their money by drugging them.

While the Oscars failed to appreciate Jennifer’s performance in Hustlers, one person who did was her former fiance Ben Affleck.

Speaking highly of his ex, Ben told the New York Times: ‘She’s the real thing.

‘I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her. How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50? That’s f**king baller.’

The Good Will Hunting star added that Jenny ‘should have been nominated’ for an Oscar for her role in Oscars.

The man speaks sense.

Jennifer will next be seen in romantic comedy Marry Me alongside Owen Wilson and, in real life, is also preparing her wedding to fiance Alex Rodriguez.

Lena Dunham reflects on Caroline Flack’s death: ‘I wish we could have shown her a more hopeful reality’

Lena Dunham Caroline Flack
Lena has reflected on Caroline Flack’s death

Lena Dunham has been praised for her ‘stirring’ thoughts on the death of Caroline Flack.

In a poignant piece, the Girls star wrote about the tragic passing of Love Island host Caroline, who was found dead on 15 February having taken her own life.

Speaking of her adoration for Caroline, after she became obsessed with Love Island during her time working in the UK, Lena admitted she ‘pored over Flack’s Instagram’ and scrolled through the countless articles written about her.

However, as someone who can relate to the pitfalls of fame – having been revered by fans while also being on the end of backlash just as quickly – Lena said Caroline’s death hit her ‘with a sickening power’.

She wrote for the Guardian, urging people to celebrate Caroline’s ‘complexity’ in order to change the narrative moving forward: ‘I wish we could have shown Flack a more hopeful reality: that women who err are as worthy of love as men who do the same.’

Writing ‘the deepest rage is reserved for women’, Lena made reference to the assault charge Caroline faced, after being arrested following an incident with Lewis Burton. Caroline denied the charge, while Lewis also didn’t support the prosecution.

Speaking of the social media push for everyone to #bekind, Lena added to that notion: ‘I would ask that we also consider our ability to accept contradiction, complexity and grey areas in the women we idolise, and consider the violence of suspending them in mid-air above us and then cutting the harness.

‘Our ability to forgive men in power, to celebrate their contradictory aspects, is well-documented. But the people who have lately been speaking to Flack’s inner beauty, work ethic and vivaciously engaging presence were mostly too afraid to do so in the weeks after her arrest in December.

‘Their willingness to say, “A woman I admire may have done something that I don’t,” could have gone a long way to lessen her shame and expand her sense of possibility.’

However, to this, Lena wanted to make it clear she wasn’t trying to take away from the ‘seriousness’ of Caroline’s assault charge, while also not wanting her attempts to stay on the ‘right side of public opinion’ stop her from saying what she meant, adding that ‘public vilification, especially as it follows public celebration, is almost too painful to bear for most, and a trauma like any other’.

Lena recalled experiencing herself the dizzying highs of adoration to then be forced to search for another way to ‘measure’ her worth when it was turned on its head.

Imagining Caroline ‘was reeling from several kinds of heartbreak’, Lena wished she could have spoken with Caroline to tell her ‘it changes’.

Readers applauded Lena’s nuanced take on Caroline’s death, with Fleabag star Sian Clifford writing on Twitter: ‘God this is vital and stirring.’

Another wrote in praise of the piece: ‘A great article highlighting ‘the pain & powerlessness that accompany so many forms of female identity’ and that in all forms of living a life in the public gaze ‘the deepest rage is reserved for women’.’
