Evangeline Lilly has wrapped up reshoots on Avengers 4 – and has enjoyed a large bottle of Lansom champagne to celebrate.
Evangeline stars as The Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and although she was absent from Infinity War (due to that pesky decision that caused Ant-Man to be housebound during Thanos’ decision to destroy the world), fans saw at the end of Ant-Man And The Wasp that Hope, Hank and Janet all faded away to dust.
Her appearance in Avengers 4 is more confirmation that some sort of time reversal / flashback situation has to be involved in the plot, so that our favourite superheroes can, you know, come back to life and live to tell another tale.
Evangline herself let slip that the film will involve time travel, as she referenced similarities to her hit TV show Lost, when discussing the movie a few months back.
‘You want me to tell you about the flash-forwards and flashbacks and flash-sideways?’ she asked Vanity Fair.
‘When I heard about Infinity War and the direction that they’re heading, I did have this moment of realising, oh, wow, there’s a bit of a déjà vu for me with the Lost franchise. We are hitting that [Lost] Season 4 space where everything’s about to shift, and you’re about to lose the solid ground underneath you.’
Theories around Avengers 4 and how they will actually reverse Thanos’ devastating actions are rife but the most common theory seems to involve time travel.
It’s a theory that was given credence earlier this month when a new set picture of Scarlett Johansson filming scenes for the upcoming movie showed her sporting red hair, a look which her character Black Widow had in the early Avengers movies.
This picture plus the previous set pictures of Captain America in his old uniform and what we know of Captain Marvel (which is released before A4), time travel does seem to be the most obvious.
Avengers 4 is slated to hit cinema screens on 26 April 2019 in the UK and 3 May 2019 in the US but what it will be called is still a mystery.
Marvel have yet to go on record with the Avengers: Infinity War spin-off’s name; however, in June this year it was rumoured that it will be called Avengers: End Game after the film’s cinematographer Trent Opaloch appeared to let the cat out of the bag.
(We’re so used to calling it A4 though, maybe Kevin Feige and co should stick to that.)
The Great British Bake Off is sieving through the good bakers, with three of the aspiring 12 contestants already having been sent home.
NIne remain to battle it out to be series champion of the white tent.
Imelda was week one’s victim, failing to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood enough during Biscuit Week.
And when Cake Week hit last week, it was Luke Thompson who was given his marching orders, while Antony was ditched in week three.
But enough talk – find out what time it’s on tonight and what the theme this week is below.
What time is GBBO on tonight?
GBBO airs every Tuesday on Channel 4 at 8pm, finishing at 9.15pm.
What is the theme for week three?
This week, hopefuls are being tasked with tackling Dessert Week.
The judges will be setting three sticky challenges to test the remaining nine bakers – but who will fare the best?
First, they will need to impress with their meringue Signature challenge.
This will be followed by a rather wobbly Technical, and then a complex chocolate Showstopper.
The Great British Bake Off - the weekly results

Who are the judges?
If you enjoyed last year’s show, the good news is that the line-up is exactly the same for 2018.
Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood have picked up their judges’ caps once again, while Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding have returned as hosts.
All four of them signed up for the 2018 series before the 2017 one had even finished, in fact.
Who are the contestants?
This year’s line-up for the Great British Bake Off boasts puff pastry wizards and bread-making air stewards.
So who is gunning to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Sophie Faldo?
The Great British Bake Off 2018 contestants
Terry
Age: 56
Job: Retired Air Steward
Terry has a background as a prosthetic technician and also has his own microbrewery and allotment. He learned to bake from his grandmother, while his dad taught him how to bake bread and make pastry when he was 10 years old.
What would you make if you had to make an illusion cake?
'I have made a few illusion cakes in the past, and it would depend on the occasion. I would like to make an inlaid wooden box, like a jewellery box, inspired by my love of carpentry. The inspiration would be my love of antiques, I collect a lot of junk! It would be made of fondant and royal icing that is hand coloured and painted.'
If you had to invent a new crisp flavour what would it be?
'I think it would have to be black pudding, because of all the flavours and spices.'
Antony - SENT HOME IN WEEK 3
Age: 30
Job: Banker
Describing himself as the ‘Bollywood baker’, Antony grew up in India and now lives in London – having learnt to bake from his father.
What illusion cake would you make given the chance?
'I think I would re-create the glorious Himalayan Mountains with a light pistachio sponge, sugar paste and snow peaks in smooth silky swiss meringue buttercream.'
Who would be the most surprised you’ve entered Bake Off?
'All of my friends back home in India will be really surprised. They have known me to be a singer in a choir, a two piece band but never as a baker, so it will be interesting to see their reaction.'
Briony
Age: 33
Job: Full-time Parent
Born and raised in Bristol, Briony was inspired by her Nan to become a baker. She self-taught herself the ropes via YouTube tutorials and is a whizz with puff pastry.
What illusion cake would you make?
'A bouquet of flowers in a decorative vase. Made from fondant and buttercreams, and 12 red roses.'
Who will be most surprised to find out you’ve applied for Bake Off?
'My uni friends I think, as we keep in regular contact still, but none of them have a clue. So that will be funny when they find out.'
Dan
Age: 36
Job: Full-time Parent
Living in London as a father to two young children, baking has become a part of Dan’s everyday life as a full-time parent. He’s a self-confessed perfectionist and believes aesthetics are one of the most important aspects of baking.
Why did you join the tent?
'My reasons for taking part in Bake Off were entirely selfish. I have been at home looking after the kids for the last six years, so it was a chance to do something for myself. With my youngest starting school, I’m now ready to rejoin the world of adults - I hoped that Bake Off might represent an opportunity to do something that I love and am passionate about.'
What illusion cake would you make?
'A flower basket cake with roses, sunflowers, hydrangeas, carnations, chrysanthemums – all in butter cream. I hate fondant, I think it’s the devil’s work!'
Imelda - SENT HOME IN WEEK 1
Age: 33
Job: Countryside Recreation Officer
Imelda grew up in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, where she learnt to cook and bake from her mother. She now mostly makes soda breads, biscuits and treats for her father and son.
Why did you join the tent?
'I went in for me as a challenge obviously for the baking, but also to have the confidence of meeting new people, I don’t usually put myself out there personally.'
How different is your kitchen to the tent?
'So different. I am always in the kitchen, everything is to hand, no time pressure, you know where everything is. We have an open door policy, the kitchen is the heart of house. We live in the country and it’s very informal.'
Jon
Age: 47
Job: Blood Courier
Jon loves wowing family and friends with his vibrant showy bakes, and strives to experiment with new techniques and skills. He lives in Newport, Wales.
When do you bake at home and how different is the tent to your kitchen?
'I bake as often as I can – several times a week, mainly in the day while my wife and children are at school as I get some peace that way! The tent is far easier than my kitchen, at home I have the kids running around, after school clubs to pick up from and my wife trying to keep the kitchen clean and tidy. The time pressure in the tent was harder of course but I have to admit I loved every minute!'
What new crisp flavour would you invent and why?
'Butterscotch crisp, that would be superb. Imagine that!'
Karen
Age: 60
Job: In-Store Sampling Assistant
Karen began her obsession with baking while living with her husband in France, being inspired by the local French patisserie. She now lives in West Yorkshire, where she whips up profiteroles and foot long eclairs.
Why did you go into the tent?
'My daughters encouraged me to do it, and I was approaching 60 and I found it really liberating to do something like this.
As you get older you feel less inhibited, and think does it matter if you make a fool of yourself. I have always wanted to be even more flamboyant and free, I really wanted to do this for me and I thought it was the right time to step up and take on some challenges and have some fun.'
What Illusion cake would you make?
'I think it would have to be a kind of This is Your Life, the big red book cake, with a photograph on the front of the recipient with lots of calligraphy and embossing, reason being it is a very personal cake to give to someone and very bold.'
Kim-Joy
Age: 27
Job: Mental Health Specialist
Born in Belgium, growing up in London and now living in Leeds with her partner, Kim-Joy’s mixed heritage of an English father and Malaysian-Chinese mother is reflected in her eclectic baking. Her particular passion however, is bread.
Why did you go into the tent?
'None of my family really bake, it’s just me that bakes. My friends have always wanted me to apply, but I didn’t feel confident enough to apply until this year. I went into the tent mostly for myself to see if I could it!'
What illusion cake would you make?
'I love miniatures so I think I would make a magnifying glass with a chocolate handle, and 12 mini bakers wearing brown bake off aprons under the glass. I think I would prefer to do something that wasn’t completely realistic though, as I enjoy having the freedom to create my own twist on things!'
Luke - SENT HOME IN WEEK 2
Age: 30
Job: Civil Servant & House/Techno DJ
Luke’s earliest memory of baking is standing on a mini-step ladder so he could reach the worktop to help his Nan bake. He’s since been baking since he was 10-years-old, and lives in Sheffield.
When do you bake at home and how different is your kitchen to the tent?
'I tend to bake most on weekends and sometimes in the week after work if I get the chance. It’s completely different baking in my kitchen to the tent…there is no pressure to get it right or race against a clock .
I also love to have music playing and always have my sous-chef (aka my dog Oscar) waiting patiently by my side for something to drop on the floor that he can eat before I have a chance to stop him! One thing I do miss from the tent is having someone clean up after me and wash all the pots. Cleaning up is definitely my least favourite part of baking!'
If you had to invent a new crisp flavour, what would it be?
'It would have to be the ultimate – a Sunday Roast flavoured crisp. It’s one of my favourite meals and there would of course have to be an emphasis on the Yorkshire Pudding flavour coming through, one of the best bits of a Sunday Dinner.'
Manon
Age: 26
Job: Software Project Manager
Born and raised in France, Manon now lives in London and learned to bake from her mother and grandmother. She was inspired by London to bake seeing the style and variety the city has to offer.
Why did you sign up for the tent?
'When me and my best friend came to England, Bake Off was one of the first shows we watched together on TV. So I think my best friend and flatmate, and my closest girlfriends that have always rooted for me and supported me throughout my baking journey.'
What illusion cake would you make?
'I think a very colourful Poke – it’s a Hawaiian raw fish dish – so it would be avocado, salmon, wasabi mayonnaise, endame beans. All made from sponge and fondant, and I love eating Poke it’s my favourite.'
Rahul
Age: 30
Job: Research Scientist
Growing up in Kolkata, Rahul moved to the UK on a university scholarship aged 23. As a scientist, he has a forensic attitude to baking and an unmatched attention to detail. He now lives in Rotherham.
When do you bake at home and how different is the tent to your kitchen?
'I try to bake alternate days. If it is something big, I develop and design it over the week and then execute it over the weekend. I am a very messy baker and viewers will see that! My flat is quite small and so it’s even messier at home, a big issue!'
Who will be most surprised you’ve entered Bake Off?
'I think pretty much everybody I know will be surprised. They know I bake, but not to the scale that I could enter the tent. Colleagues I knew during my PhD don’t have a clue that I can bake. Back in India I didn’t bake either. All of them and actually myself are surprised that I made it into the tent.'
Ruby
Age: 29
Job: Project Manager
Ruby’s baking love emerged after becoming the household ‘mother’ at university, cooking for her seven housemates. Growing up in an Indian family as the youngest of four children, she associates her childhood with her mum making an Indian sweet called Jalebi’s. She now lives in London.
When do you bake at home and how different is your kitchen to the tent?
'My kitchen is very different to the tent; it’s very spacious and has a lovely breeze coming through! Baking and music go hand in hand at home; I will always have music blaring, so it’s a pretty lively affair. I don’t like people stepping into my kitchen at home trying to ‘help’, it’s my zone – let me do my thing and then after you can enjoy the treats!'
What illusion cake would you make?
'I love sandwiches and burgers, and eat far too many of them, so I think I would definitely tackle a burger with the full works included – super soft ‘brioche bun’ sponge covered in fondant with marzipan for the lettuce, tomato, onion, gherkin with a side of white chocolate stick fries and plenty of buttercream tomato ketchup of course. Sounds like carb heaven.'
The 2017 bakers have gone on to do pretty well for themselves since the show – as well as winner Sophie, 2017’s Liam Charles has kept himself in the public eye as one of the presenters of Bake Off: The Professionals, Channel 4’s version of Creme de la Creme.
Looks like the 2018 hopefuls will have a lot to live up to.
Following on from last year’s similarly all-singing trailer – which promoted Channel 4’s first series of the hugely popular cooking show – GBBO producers have decided for this year’s teaser to once again anthropomorphise everything from pasties to wedding cakes.
Depicting great British scenes (from picnics to cricket matches), the new trailer culminates with a layer cake being delivered to the judging table by a hopeful in the famous tent.
The camera then pans to some familiar faces, as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and our affable hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig look down approvingly at the still-singing creation.
And the song of choice for our band of warbling cakes? Why, Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful, of course.
It’s a humorous – if bizarre – way to reintroduce GBBO into our lives, and we’re all for it.
‘When Noel put forward the idea producers leapt at the chance to try something different – especially as they think it’ll appeal to younger viewers,’ a source revealed about the potential new addition.
Can I catch up with previous Bake Off series?
You can indeed – if you’re missing your Bake Off fix and the new series seems just too far away, the good news is you can catch up on the first seven series of the show on Netflix UK.
The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 on Tuesdays at 8pm.
Brooklyn Beckham assembled alongside Lily Allen, Liz Hurley, Winnie Harlow and co for one epically stylish night out in London.
The shining fashion elite got together on Monday night like the band of sartorial siblings they are for the annual LOVE magazine shindig, alongside Perrier-Jouet.
The budding fashion photographer took a night off LFW duty, after hanging out front row at his mother’s line, as Victoria Beckham previewed her collection for the first time in London its 10-year history.
He had also been spotted hanging out side of studio, assisting a photographer after apparently quitting his photography course in New York City.
Earlier this week he looked like he’d just ran from the set of Peaky Blinders, but last night he seemed firmly back in 2018 as he wore a brown combo of patch-work trousers and a jacket over a white tee.
Always making sure his keys are locked onto his belt, like usual.
Side note: he may have narrowly avoided a run in with supposed ex, Tallia Storm, who also headed to the event, held in swanky Mayfair.
The 19-year-old was joined by Lily Allen, who has emerged following some pretty epic revelations and allegations from the height of her fame.
Her memoir, My Thoughts Exactly, launches this week and so far we’ve been treated to some stellar recollections from the singer, most tantalising is her claim she hooked up with Liam Gallagher while the two flew to Japan back in 2011.
He was married to Nicole Appleton at the time, so we’re sure you can understand the salicious-ness of this tale.
She shrugged off the buzz surrounding her story, though, wearing an intergalactic wonderdream of an outfit.
Over the top of a silver dress – that went with her new, platinum, sort-of-grey hair – she wore a baby blue coat, and topped things off with some silver heels.
Liz Hurley also got down the kids as she strutted out of Loulous private club in the capital following the bash, taking a break from posting shots of herself on holiday.
Exiting side of club, fresh off the runway, Winnie Harlow shot some angles to the camera before getting into her car – no doubt due backstage at some ungodly hour in the morning to get back to her modelling duties.
Winnie, recently announced as the latest Victoria’s Secret Angel, was wearing a tres impressive black gown, with white brogues. It all came together like a dream, tbh.
Fellow model Jourdan Dunn was like a deconstructed mirror ball as she smiled on her way out.
Wearing a cut-out black dress with bejwelled straps holding it all together, she was giving us some serious sartorial vibes.
The actress went a little more avant garde in a red and orange, tasselled gown as she was joined by model partner Rain Dove.
Others who graced the event with their presence included model and designer Lottie Moss and Liv Tyler. And Paloma Faith was there, too.
Same as Helena Christensen.
Could this have been the most star-studded bash in the history of star-studded bashes?
Yes…yes it could have been.

Jeremy Renner has dropped another Hawkeye Instagram shot straight from BTS on the Avengers 4 reshoot.
With the debate still hot about whether or not Clint returns to the fold in the fourth crossover film as his most famous alter-ego or Ronin it seems that the 47-year-old is happy to put to bed the rumour that Hawkeye won’t be in the film.
But it looks as though he’s not going to come out of it unscathed, as he just shared a snap from the current series of reshoots going ahead for the conclusion to Infinity War and Marvel’s decade-long Infinity Stones story arc.
‘Not everyday begins the same…but always finish with a smile #work #fun #shakeitup #hawkeye #marvel #🏹#avengersm’ he captioned the black and white selfie, which sees him looking very bruised and beaten in his costume.
And while he’s not only hashtagged himself as Hawkeye it seems as though he’s wearing Clint’s trust classic get-up, and it’s not the first he’s shared either.
As it is, we know that Jeremy Renner makes an appearance post-snappening, as Clint was nowhere to be seen in Infinity War thanks to the deal he cut with authorities post Civil War.
But, what we’ve been asking ourselves ever since he was snapped in that very Neo from The Matrix get-up on set is, will he be Ronin or Hawkeye when he returns to the screen.
Now it’s been assumed that with Thanos having wiped out half of the galaxy’s population that Clint’s family simply exists to be and this tragedy drives him to be Ronin.
But what if Clint’s story arc in Avengers 4 is a tale of self-discovery? Alone and struggling through the world, devoid of his Avengers team mates he’s taken on the moniker of Ronin (possibly because his family has been torn apart, possibly not) given that he is effectively a lone warrior once more.
But as Captain Marvel and the remaining Avengers come together and slowly form the universe’s last hope for balance to be restored he rediscovers what made him Hawkeye – the thing that kept him turning up for death-defying work when he more than anyone else had more to lose as an Avenger.
As it is, we’re damned if we know, but we do know from some tid-bits from the Russo brothers that he’s one his ‘own journey’.
‘And Ant Man. And coming into this movie, characters on Cap’s team [in Civil War] made certain decisions and others made others decisions that led to different paths in them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way.
The GC could well be after her very own Christmas number one.
The reality star-turned fashionista-turned all round superstar Gemma Collins is ready to crack the music world having realised that cooking won’t be her new thing.
The 37-year-old has recorded a cover of Rozalla’s Everybody Free To Feel Good, the 1991 classic, after revealing it’s the track that would get her on the dancefloor in her 20s when she was out with friends.
She said she and her pals would wear their ‘worst weaves and worst spray tans’ to head out on the town, and end up rocking out to that banger of a tune. So now she’s given her own version a go.
Strongbow gave her a leg up into the recording studio after conducting research and realising 21 is the age people officially feel their most free and happiest. Gemma recorded at a studio where the likes of Kanye, Sam Smith and Dizzee Rascal have all paid a visit, and, by the sound of the small glimpse at her vocals, she’s actually not half bad.
Could she be heading down a new career path full time? Will she be vying with X Factor for that coveted number one spot?
Gemma followed in the footsteps of the likes of Kanye West, Sam Smith and Dizzee Rascal in laying down vocals in the same studio, so she’s off to a good start and in safe hands if she does want to break into the music charts.
Now we just have to wait for that single’s release.
Strongbow’s #RefreshYourStatus campaign has launched to coincide with MTV’s brand new reality show ReFreshers Week presented by Strongbow, which sees Gemma Collins take on the role of Professor as eight strangers head back to university for the chance to refresh their lives.
ReFreshers Week goes live on Monday 24th September at 10.00pm, so tune in!
Julie Chen is apparently set to leave CBS show The Talk following the departure of husband Les Moonves, who was faced with numerous sexual harassment allegations.
Chen is reportedly set to announce she’s stepping down as co-host on the US talk show on Tuesday’s episode (18 September), according to CNN.
Speaking to the publication, a source said: ‘She has decided that her main focus needs to be clearing her husband’s name from accusations made 25-30 years ago and tending to her son.’
Moonves, chairman and CEO of CBS, left the network over a week ago following allegations of sexual misconduct, with Julie supporting her husband in their wake.
Taking to Twitter in light of the allegations, Julie wrote: ‘Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being.
‘I fully support my husband and stand behind him and his statement.’
Chen and Moonves have been married since 2004 and have one son, 8-year-old Charlie, together.
Metro.co.uk has reached out to Julie’s reps for comment.
Fortnite season 5 is starting to come to an end but some fans have been worried that the game may be finishing completely.
Season 6 is set to launch next week but rumours have been circulating that the game will be closing down later this month.
The suspicion started after an image of the Official Twitter account showed it claiming that it would be shutting down on September 26.
The hoax was shared on social media and a few news websites, but if you look at the actual Twitter account you can see that the tweet was never actually made.
It was a fake tweet that someone put together and started to spread across the internet and worrying many Fortnite fans.
This means that the game is safe and it won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
It’s not the first time that the rumours of Fortnite ending have circulated around social media.
Previous reasons for closing down have included the copyright claims that were made by PUBG earlier this year.
When does Fortnite season 5 end?
Fortnite season 5 is currently set to end on Tuesday 25 September.
Players can track how long is left by going to the Battle Pass tab when logged into the game, above the list of unlockable items there is a countdown that shows the time until season 5 ends.
When does Fortnite season 6 start?
The new season of Fortnite is likely to start shortly after season 5 ends, usually the following day.
This means that players can expect to see the Fortnite get its next big update on Wednesday 26 September, although this could vary if season 5 gets extended by a day or two.
Season 6 is set to include a brand new Battle Pass with plenty of new cosmetic items for players to unlock.
Map changes and new items are also a big possibility for the launch of season 6, but upcoming themes and gameplay changes aren’t yet known but Epic Games is likely to drop hints over the next couple of weeks.
Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is just months away from release now – and the anticipation of Marvel’s biggest female-led superhero film is showing no signs of slowing now.
Captain Marvel was scheduled to drop in 2018 but had to be pushed back by nine months to allow more time for production.
The Marvel film – which stars Brie Larson in the titular role – has been something of a mystery to Marvel fans, with little information given.
Captain Marvel’s first reference came at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, which sent fans into overdrive.
Here’s everything we know about the superhero movie so far…
When is Captain Marvel released?
The superhero movie will hit UK cinemas on 8 March 2019.
During an interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel president Kevin Feige kept things vague about the plot, saying: ‘You already know as much as you need to.
‘We’ve got Skrulls, we’ve got the Kree, it takes place in the 90s, you have Sam Jackson with two eyes and Carol Danvers, a unique telling of Carol Danvers origin story.
‘We are about two weeks out from completion of principal photography.’
Feige also confirmed that the Captain Marvel character will go on to be ‘very important’ to the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It was confirmed in July that filming had indeed wrapped on the movie.
What was Brie’s big news in September?
At the start of the month, Brie teased something huge was about to be announced, something so big, it will ‘break the internet’.
Fans had expected it to be the trailer – but it wasn’t.
Instead, brand new images for the upcoming Captain Marvel dropped.
Standing in an epic warrior pose, the images are part of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, who spoke to Brie about the groundbreaking role.
‘She can’t help but be herself,’ she said of the female superhero, also known as Carol Danvers.
‘She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face.
‘She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.’
Do we know ANYTHING else?
Understandably, we’ve been on the edge of our seat, trying to glean what information we can out of the upcoming Captain Marvel flick.
While everything, from the plot to the costume has been kept under wraps (mostly), one piece of merch in particular appeared to have lifted the lid on the under-wraps character.
Released on Amazon to not all that much fanfare (when you consider the content), an Insight Editions notebook which seemed to form part of Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel’s branded merchandise has surfaced with the character – played by Brie Larson – etched front and centre.
The description read: ‘Celebrate hero Carol Danvers and her exciting entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this notebook set featuring imagery from Captain Marvel. Each notebook contains sixty-four ruled, acid-free pages of high-quality paper that invite fans to record their own heroic adventures. This set of notebooks is a must-have for fans of Marvel.’
There is no mistaking that woman is Brie and the character is Captain Marvel, as she stands strongly, powerful hands out to the side.
It also gave us a massive hint as to the powers we’ll see her wield in the movie, as in the comic she can discharge blasts of radiant energy, perhaps shown by the glowing fists of the notebook image.
Also, the Captain Marvel label probably gave the thing away – with the first glimpse of the logo we’ve seen yet.
Another notebook, a little less telling as it doesn’t feature the character, is emblazoned with the tell-tale Hala Star with the line ‘protector of the skies’ underneath.
This is the a magnificent glimpse of Brie in costume, after she was initially seen in some green wonder that really confused fans – after it was assumed she would be in the classic Marvel uniform of red and blue.
Who is in the cast?
Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury, with Jude Law and Gemma Chan also starring alongside the main player, Larson.
The cast also includes: Lee Pace, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening, Robert Kazinsky and Kenneth Mitchell.
Okay, is there a trailer?
Yes, yes there is.
The very first trailer dropped on Tuesday, giving us our first glimpse of the Skrulls – a classic Marvel villain hell bent on invading Earth – as well as a young and cocky Nick Fury (minus the eye patch) and Jude Law’s Mar-Vell.
Brie is seen as Captain Marvel and although the trailer is sure to give fans a lot to talk about, there may also be concerns as the trailer also gives away a lot.
We see a young Carol in various stages as her life, revealing this will be a true origin story, as well as fight scenes, her allegiance with S.H.I.E.L.D, her history with Mar-Vell plus the need for the film to have a climatic end sequence.
Made by Sony but rooted in the world of Marvel (a Spider-Man appearance is rumoured), Venom stars Tom Hardy as a journalist who gets transformed into a superhuman creature by an alien parasite.
Like Deadpool, the lead character is very much an anti-hero, and the special effects in this one look especially good.
The UK release date is 5 October 2018.
Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse
After many thousands of requests from comics fans, this computer-animated adventure is based on the Miles Morales, an African-American incarnation of Spider-Man.
The character first appeared in comics in 2011 and now this movie will see Miles juggle his high school life with being a superhero.
It’s due for release on December 14, 2018 and is not made by Marvel Studios, but the same people who made The LEGO Movie.
2019
Silver and Black
Due out in February 2019, but experiencing some production delays, this one is a Sony spin-off movie from Spider-Man.
No cast are confirmed as yet but we know it will be female-centred, written by Lisa Joy Nolan and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.
The lead characters are Black Cat and Silver Sable, both lady superheroes tied to the world of Spider-Man, but their storyline won’t cross over with Marvel Studios films.
Dark Phoenix
This one is an X-Men spin-off, made by 20th Century Fox, and due out on February 14, 2019.
It features Sophie Turner reprising her role as the titular mutant (also known as Jean Gray) with telepathic and telekinetic powers who battles, and ultimately succumbs to, the forces of evil.
She’s sort of Wolverine’s girlfriend in the comics but Hugh Jackman’s character isn’t featuring in this movie, which will follow on from X-Men: Apocalypse.
Captain Marvel
Due out on March 8, 2019, this official Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is based on the popular comics by Carol Danvers.
This story will take place in the 1990s and feature shape-shifting Marvel aliens the Skrulls as villains.
Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury, with Jude Law and Gemma Chan also starring alongside the main player, Brie Larson.
Avengers 4
The second half of the apocalyptic Avengers tale is coming to the silver screen on May 3, 2019.
Anyone who’s seen the 2018 movie will know just what is expected of the story, and how much it has to wrap up.
Marvel has said this movie (along with the one that’s just come up) will tie up every single loose plot line since Iron-Man in 2008.
After the release of this movie, the names of all the Marvel Studios films from late 2020 – 2022 (creepily referred to as ‘Phase 4’), will be revealed.
Gambit
Channing Tatum stars as the magical red-eyed hero Gambit, technically a member of X-Men, in this solo superhero movie on June 7, 2019.
Gambit’s real name is Remy LeBeau, he’s a street thief from New Orleans, and his skill is turning ordinary objects into explosive weapons.
The film will also star Lizzy Caplan in an unspecified role.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
On July 5, 2019, the second Tom Holland Spider-Man movie will get its chance to shine.
It’s set to be called Spider-Man: Far From Home and we still don’t have a clue what it’ll be about.
The New Mutants
Set for release on August 2, 2019, this will be a unique sort of X-Men spin-off – in that it will be marketed as a horror film.
It will star Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt, Alice Braga and James McAvoy (reprising his role as Professor X).
The movie was shot way back at the end of 2017 but it’s experiencing a huge delay as studio bosses at 20th Century Fox attempt to make the film more scary.
2020
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The fact that a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie is coming in 2020 indicates the group are probably going to survive the Avengers 4 fiasco.
Same goes for any of the superheroes getting solo or group films after 2019.
This one has been confirmed by director James Gunn but no release date is known, and little else besides.
TBD (2020, 2021 or 2022)
These movies have not been given a set year of release but we know they’re being made:
Black Panther 2 – already in the workswith Ryan Coogler to return as director.
Black Widow Movie – Starring Scarlett Johansson’s Avengers character, set to be directed by a woman.
Doctor Strange 2 – Marvel have remained tight-lipped on this but it’s pretty much guaranteed to happen.
Logan Spinoff – This film will recreate Wolverine as a woman called Laura following R-rated original in 2017.
Sean Penn has suggested that the #MeToo movement is too ‘black and white’ and that it has ‘divided men and women’.
The actor claimed that ‘this is a movement that was largely shouldered by a kind of receptacle of the salacious’ and that ‘we don’t know what’s a fact in many of the cases’.
It’s not the first time Penn has slammed the movement, as in May he said he did not trust the movement and alleged that those involved were using it for ‘self-aggrandisement and venting’ and that it was not ‘intellectually honest’.
However speaking to The Today Show ahead of the premiere of his new TV show The First, Sean slammed the movement, and said it was ‘largely shouldered by a kind of receptacle of the salacious’, before elaborating that ‘we don’t know what’s a fact in many of the cases’.
‘Salacious is as soon as you call something a movement that is really a series of many individual accusers, victims, accusations, some of which are unfounded,’ he said.
‘The spirit of much of what has been the #MeToo movement is to divide men and women.’
“This is a movement that was, you know, largely shouldered by a kind of receptacle of the salacious,” Sean Penn says to @nmoralesnbc during a discussion about the #MeToo movement pic.twitter.com/O4yGtEZjpk
When questioned on his stance and told that many ‘women would say it’s united women’, he added that he had spoken to women from ‘of all walks of life’ and that he believed ‘there’s a common sense that is not represented at all in the discussion when it comes to the media discussion of it’.
‘I’m very suspicious of a movement that gets glommed onto in great stridency and rage and without nuance. And even when people try to discuss it in a nuanced way, the nuance is attacked,’ he concluded.
‘In most things that are very important, it’s really good to just slow down.’
Penn also said that he hoped his new TV show – set in 2030 and with a female President – was not influenced by #MeToo, and that it had in fact been ‘influenced by the things that are developing in terms of the empowerment of women who’ve been acknowledging each other and being acknowledged by men’.
The Loose Women panel is about to get extra star-studded.
It has been confirmed that Caitlyn Jenner will be joining the gang as a guest panellist this week on ITV’s Loose Women – meaning Nadia Sawalha, Stacey Solomon, Janet Street-Porter and co are basically Kardashians.
The 60-year-old appeared on the show as a guest last year, but this time will be acting as a panellist, alongside her girlfriend Sophia Hutchins.
Caitlyn said: ‘I am so excited to be back on Loose Women and to be back in the UK! Sophia and I can’t wait to update everyone about the amazing work we are doing at the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation.’
And Sally Shelford, the show’s editor, said: ‘Caitlyn Jenner is an inspiration to so many around the world and we can’t wait to welcome her back on the show – and this time as a guest panellist.
‘We’re so excited to hear what’s been going on in her life and get her take on the hottest topics of the day.’
Not gonna lie – we’re pretty pumped to hear what Caitlyn has to say about Big Brother, sex tips and whether it’s alright to shun shaving your armpits. (It totally is, by the way.)
Caitlyn and Sophia will be on this Thursday’s edition of the show.

Another week, another delicious and challenging theme for our Bake Off contestants to contend with.
The theme is chosen by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and it orchestrates what the three challenges – the signature, the technical and the showstopper – will be.
Some bakers might be stronger at certain themes than others and vice versa, making each week the ultimate test of our bakers’ skills.
So what have the themes been so far?
Week one saw the 2018 contestants tasked with Biscuit Week, which saw Imelda bid a premature farewell after coming a cropper with Wagon Wheels and failing to impress the judges with her showstopping selfie.
The second week’s theme was Cake Week, but Luke Thompson fell at the final hurdle too and was sent packing, leaving 10 contestants.
Week three saw Antony sent home when he failed to impress judges enough during Bread Week.
And just what discipline will the remaining bakers be demonstrating this week?
This week, hopefuls will tackle the scrumptious Dessert Week.
Paul and Prue will set three sticky challenges to test the remaining nine bakers – but who will fare the best?
First, they will need to impress with their meringue Signature challenge.
This will be followed by a rather wobbly Technical, and then a complex chocolate Showstopper.

Victoria Beckham has opened up on her earlier days, revealing she found it hard to get ahead as a young posh, pre-Spice Girls fame.
The designer imparted some pearls of wisdom as she owned London Fashion Week, and one such was her words of encouragement for those hoping to make it big one day.
Because, as Vicky B claimed – she was told no on many an occasion. And look at her now. It only served to ignite her drive even more.
‘I’ve always said it since I was really young with the Spice Girls, it’s okay to be different and when people tell you no, you say, “actually, yes!” You keep going and you believe in yourself,’ she said.
‘You can never dream too big. I was never the popular girl at school and I never found anything easy and I was told, “no” constantly.’
Speaking with Glamour before she previewed her latest collection, a London fashion week first in the label’s 10-year history, the 44-year-old opened up on her transition from pop star to bona fide designer.
As arguably one of the most recognised names not only in the UK but in the world, it’s hard to believe the power player struggled, however, as they say, said struggle is most certainly real.
And as such, the mother-of-four admits she ‘still pinches herself’ when she looks at how far she’s come.
‘I have enjoyed the journey, I wake up every day and pinch myself,’ she added. ‘I really have enjoyed the last ten years. I’ve learnt an enormous amount.’
The fashion mogul launched into full Posh Spice mode, during an exclusive bash held by British Vogue to celebrate a decade of Victoria’s powerhouse fashion brand.
She was filmed as she leapt on a sofa at the Mark’s Club to dance to a familiar tune, for once shaking off her poised style icon status and letting her hair down like it was 1997.
The star had not forgotten a single move, pulling out the revolving fist pump and the double wave hands, while slamming it to the left and shaking it to the right.
Hai Si Ja, hold tight!

Dolly Parton has stated how she’s hoping the 9 To 5 musical will help change workplace harassment in the post MeToo age.
The smash musical is set to arrive in London’s West End next year, seeing Louise Redknapp, Amber Davies and Natalie McQueen take on the iconic roles previously played by Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton in the 1980 flick.
Speaking to This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Dolly explained how there’s common themes of misogyny and pay gaps in the workplace, which are still relevant today.
‘It’s amazing,’ Dolly said. ‘We did make a lot of changes at that time [when the movie came out] and we were out on a mission to try and make changes.
‘Things did change a lot but things still need to change even more, and especially now with the MeToo movement. There’s still a lot of the same things still going on in the workplace, and all the harassment that’s going on now, it just seemed to make sense for this to come out again and now.’
She also stated how they’re currently planning a sequel to the hit movie, which will also come bundled with a political statement about the issue.
‘That’s actually the sequel what we’re doing when it does come out,’ Dolly said. ‘We’re actually saying we’re still having the same problems, and how do we continue to solve them?
‘But I think everybody’s going to relate to this and they love the music here when the show was on Broadway. I think no matter where you are in the world, we have the same problems in the workplace, and hopefully it will help with that.’
9 To 5 the musical opens in the Savoy Theatre next year, with tickets available now.
You can catch This Morning weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
Victoria Beckham isn’t putting her feet up and relaxing having hit the big 10 years of her fashion brand.
The former Spice Girl has been celebrating her success during London Fashion Week, having had a huge bash thrown for her and hosted by her husband David Beckham and Vogue magazine.
But there’s no stopping to take stock, there’s work to be done and a new line to promote.
Victoria was seen getting back to business after the weekend’s festivities, heading to her flagship store on London’s Dover Street in Mayfair wearing a fierce leopard print dress and baby blue shoes and clutch.
She seems to have impressed Anna Wintour, arguably one of the most influential people in fashion, as the Vogue editor accompanied her to the shop.
The mum-of-four revealed to Glamour she’d had to fight hard for what she’s got now.
For years, decades, eons, Sesame Street viewers have grown up watching Bert and Ernie, potentially wondering, once they reached adult years, if the Muppets were gay or not.
Now, it seems, our questions and long-held ideas have been answered, after the writer who helped shape the characters himself lifted the lid on how he pictured them.
And, who better to confirm they were in fact gay than the man who wrote them into the show?
When asked the golden question, Mark Saltzman, said he based the two men on his own relationship with partner Arnold Glassman when it was his turn to write them into his songs.
‘I remember one time that a column from The San Francisco Chronicle, a preschooler in the city turned to mom and asked “are Bert & Ernie lovers?” And that, coming from a preschooler was fun,’ he told Queerty. ‘And that got passed around, and everyone had their chuckle and went back to it. And I always felt that without a huge agenda, when I was writing Bert & Ernie, they were.
‘I didn’t have any other way to contextualise them. The other thing was, more than one person referred to Arnie & I as “Bert & Ernie.”’
So there you have it – while Sesame Street bosses in the past have denied the two characters – who debuted with the show in November 1969 – are in a same-sex relationship, or have any sexuality at all, this might be the most solid confirmation we’ll get from someone in the know.
He then went on to confirm he was the Ernie in his relationship, while his partner Arnie was more Bert – and continued to write the pair based on his own experiences.
He added: ‘I was already with Arnie when I came to Sesame Street. So I don’t think I’d know how else to write them, but as a loving couple. I wrote sketches…Arnie’s OCD would create friction with how chaotic I was. And that’s the Bert and Ernie dynamic.’
He added there were other gay dynamics in the long-running children’s show its younger audience might not have tapped into at the time.
‘I will say that I would never have said to the head writer, “oh, I’m writing this, this is my partner and me.” But those two, Snuffalupagus, because he’s the sort of [a] clinically depressed Muppet…you had characters that appealed to a gay audience,’ he said. ‘And Snuffy, this depressed person nobody can see, that’s sort of Kafka! It’s sort of gay closeted too.’
This is just blowing out minds, not going to lie.
Bert and Ernie have been sleeping in the same room for 50-odd years and often squabble like an old married couple, but television bosses tried to nip the conversation in the bud years ago.
Back in 2011, as New York City, where the show is based, legalised gay marriage, a spokesperson for the show denied these two might get hitched following the landmark decision, initially created by Frank Oz and Jim Henson to ‘teach pre-schoolers that people can be friends with those who are very different to themselves’.
‘Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics [as most Sesame Street Muppets do] they remain puppets and do not have a sexual orientation,’ a spokesman said.

There might have been a hundred and one spin-offs in-between but incredibly it’s now 12 years since the release of Kingdom Hearts II, Square Enix’s bizarre mash-up of Disney movies and their own Final Fantasy titles.
A new numbered sequel has been a long (long) time coming but it is increasingly looking like it’ll be worth the wait, especially in this new trailer which focuses on Big Hero 6 but also includes characters from Tangled, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Frozen.
The graphics are good enough that they look like they could actually be from the movies, but the most encouraging thing is we played the demo at E3 in June and it played very well too.
Previous Kingdom Hearts games have suffered from awkward cameras and mindless combat but Kingdom Hearts III is clearly trying to avoid those problems – so the bit in the trailer where Sora is flying on the back of Baymax, or running up a skyscraper Spider-Man style, probably is as fun as it looks.
Unfortunately, the trailer is only in Japanese at the moment, with English subtitles, but Square Enix usually stump up for either the real actors (Josh Gad is returning as Olaf from Frozen) or top notch soundalikes.
Other worlds not seen in the trailer are based on Toy Story and Hercules (both of which were in the E3 playable demo) and Monsters, Inc.
Twilight Town and a new original world will also feature but there’s still the possibility of other unannounced films featuring in the game – with fans desperate to know whether any Marvel or Star Wars characters might be included.
That we may not know until the game’s launch on January 29 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Although Square Enix has also released the first look at the box art today.
Big Brother housemate Cameron Cole was described as a vlogger as he entered the famous house on Friday.
And among his vlogs is the interestingly titled ‘Feminism Is Bullshit’.
A video on Cameron’s YouTube channel – which has just 266 subscribers – sees the teenager ranting about the ‘man-hating cult that is feminism’ and proclaiming: ‘Feminism is bullshit, we don’t need it no more, not in the west, women have got the same rights as men, practically.’
Cameron, then 16, is seen sitting in an office chair in his hall, wearing a rubber ring around his neck and a squeaky elephant hat on his head.
He says: ‘Today, we’re going to be talking about the man-hating cult that is feminism. Modern feminists are great people, they fight for women’s rights, they’re pro-women except they don’t like women being women.
‘We are different genders. I’ve got a penis, you’ve got a vagina, and tits as you like to show everyone.’
Cameron then said there are ‘men’s rights issues’ that women don’t care about, saying: ‘Us men, we don’t have it all plain sailing. We can be forced to go to war, women can’t. Also, custody wise, over children, to get custody of a child is so much harder for men.’
He went on: ‘They hate it when men use slut, slag, sket. They are horrible words, I will admit. But then feminists go round basically looking at every man and thinking “oh my god, he’s a rapist”. Well, if you don’t want to be called slag, slut, sket, don’t fucking call us rapists, man. It’s not wrong to look at a woman and think “fuck, she’s hot as fuck”. That’s just what people who are attracted to women do.’
Cameron also claimed feminists ‘want every man to be gay’, saying: ‘Because if you’re not gay, you’re a man and you’re a rapist and we don’t like him.’
The reality star accused feminists of using fake stats and not knowing anything about history or feminism, before insisting he wasn’t being sexist.
The 2016 video, which has been viewed 1,813 times at the time of writing, was the second in an episode of a series entitled ‘If You’re Easily Offended Then FUCK OFF!!!’
Cameron, from Norwich, is this year’s youngest housemate, and was just six months old when Big Brother aired for the first time in 2000.

One image even sees him wearing a lamb around his neck. Why wait for the scarf to be knitted by hand when you can just wear it straight from the source? That’s just how fashion forward he is.
And never has anyone ever been so extra with a piglet?
He was photographed by Glen Luchford for his second Gucci campaign, hanging out with his new animal friends at a 16th century Italian villa.
‘The campaign playfully positions Harry Styles’s personal, urban take on the Gucci tailoring wardrobe amongst the classic, stylised landscape of the gardens, where fountains, grottoes and mazes characterise the ancient surroundings,’ the brand’s statement explains.
No mention there on why the heck there’s also a goat running around, but who are we to question these artists?
So we have been pretty distracted by the animals there, but the clothes look half decent too, with luxurious and beautiful kimonos, tailored adorned jackets and Harry’s even working a headband.
When you realise you wish you where the lamb in Harry Styles knee 😂
The full campaign will be released in November so there’s time to save up for some of these key Harry Styles pieces.
*Heads off to sell liver to be able to afford even just the headband.
