Richard Gere’s first TV role in almost 30 years will be MotherFatherSon on BBC Two (Picture: BBC)

For the first time in nearly 30 years, Richard Gere is coming to the small screen in BBC drama MotherFatherSon.

The Pretty Woman star is acting alongside a top notch cast in this TV show, which, along with the trailer, is more than enough to pique our interest.

Gere is starring as Max, a media mogul who finds himself dealing with problems in his family as his empire controls the political landscape.

In Cannes last year, Gere explained: ‘We’re all trying to tell stories that relate to this crazy moment on our planet, and it’s probably impossible to go directly at it because you can’t compete with how crazy someone like [Donald] Trump is, and many of these right-wing nationalist tribalists on the planet.’

He added: ‘It’s set in the context of really exploring our world in terms of politics, and media, and power in general.’

If you want to know when you can catch the show and who else will be appearing alongside Richard, here is everything that you need to know.

Who is in the MotherFatherSon cast?

  • Richard Gere as Max
  • Billy Howle as Caden
  • Helen McCrory as Kathryn
  • Elena Anaya as Sofia
  • Ciarán Hinds as Walter
  • Niamh Algar as Orla
  • Peter Sullivan as Tate
  • Neal Beadley as Max’s Bodyguard

On the subject of getting Richard Gere on board, director James Kent admitted that it ‘wasn’t easy’, adding ‘It makes my life a lot easier if you get Richard Gere because my job is to get that authentic character, who you don’t go, “Oh, he’s playing bigger than he really is.”’

‘When you have Richard Gere, who brings the legacy with him but is also truly a great man of presence on screen, there’s no doubt he couldn’t be a Max.

Where have you seen the cast before?

You might have seen Golden Globe winner Richard Gere in a few little films here and there during his decades-long career, like Pretty Woman, Chicago, An Officer and a Gentleman, and Primal Fear.

Helen McCrory, who plays Gere’s on-screen ex-wife Kathryn, has also had an impressive career, having appeared in the likes of Peaky Blinders, The Queen, The Harry Potter franchise, and Hugo.

Richard’s in good company (Picture: BBC)

Billy Howle plays Kathryn and Max’s troubled son Caden, and you might have seen him recently in Outlaw King, The Witness for the Prosecution, and On Chesil Beach.

Elena Anaya appeared in Wonder Woman, and has also been in successful Spanish language films like The Skin I Live In, and Sex and Lucia.

You might also know Ciarán Hinds from Game of Thrones, The Woman in Black, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

When is MotherFatherSon going to be on TV?

The eight-part show will start on BBC Two at 9pm Wednesday 6 March, and the next episode will air the following Wednesday, 13 March.

If you miss it though, episodes will be on BBC iPlayer pretty soon after they air.

Cruel Intentions is responsible for more sexual awakenings than all other 90s teen films put together

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair kissing in Cruel Intentions
The kiss that shaped a million fantasies (Picture: Columbia Pictures)

Everybody can pinpoint a film or TV show that led to their sexual awakening. Kelly Kapowksi on Saved By The Bell. Real-boy Casper in the 1995 film. Jet on Gladiators.

But perhaps the most overtly horny piece of pop culture which played a part in the formation of countless 90s kids’ sexualities is Cruel Intentions.

The 1999 teen drama has turned 20, meaning we have had two decades of fantasies set to Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair kissing, Sarah Michelle Gellar trying to seduce his stepbrother, Sarah Michelle Gellar generally being a temptress.

I was only eight when Cruel Intentions – based on the Pierre Choderlos de Laclos 1782 novel Les Liaisons dangereuses – came out in cinemas, but seeing it a few years later, it seemed like the filthiest and most adult thing ever.

And it was more adult content than we were used to from a teen movie. While all teen films from that era – such as 10 Things I Hate About You and She’s All That, both also released in 1999 – were based on the pursuit of sex, Cruel Intentions was in no way subtle about that plot.

On the flipside of the raunchiness, we had the pure love of Annette and Sebastian (Picture: Allstar/Cinetext/COLUMBIA)

Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) bets her handsome stepbrother Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) that he can’t seduce the virginal Annette (Reese Witherspoon). If Sebastian doesn’t have sex with Annette, Kathryn gets his vintage Jaguar. If he does, she will ‘fuck his brains out’.

This level of explicitness for a teenager is a lot to handle. Throw in Ryan Phillippe going down on Selma Blair’s Cecile and Annette and Sebastian’s love scene, it’s even more provocative. And then there’s that kiss.

Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s extended kiss, and the string of spit produced as a result, has probably featured in every teenager’s mind at pivotal moments at some time or another, and was so iconic that it won Best Kiss at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards.

Director Roger Kumble previously told Cosmo: ‘I forget who, but someone said, “We need to go again, there’s saliva connecting them.” And [cinematographer] Theo [van de Sande] was like, “No, it’s beautiful”. And I was like, “No, it’s hot. I mean, we’ll go again, but I think it’s cool”. So it was a happy accident. And it’s kind of been remembered for that.’

The fact that Kathryn was supposedly teaching Cecile how to French kiss somehow made the scene even sexier. And for teens of the 90s who didn’t really have access to internet porn, with just Top Of The Pops posters and magazines they robbed from their older brothers for ~inspiration~, this was basically an intro to what turned them on.

Cecile’s naivety was something we could all relate to in some way (Picture: Columbia)

Soundtracked by dark songs like Every You Every Me by Placebo, Counting Crows’ Colorblind and The Verve’s Bitter Sweet Symphony, we watched while impossibly beautiful and wealthy teenagers partook in dangerous behaviour and corrupted the innocent – with Annette’s virginity and morals eventually winning over Sebastian (although, spoiler alert, it doesn’t end all that well for either of them).

And it’s the fantasy of it all that makes it even more appealing for the curious mind.

Karen Kwong, organisational psychologist and owner of RenOC Consulting, told us: ‘The characters portrayed are so glamorous, intriguing, cunning and therefore so attractively compelling, it’s hard not to fall for them.  Ryan Phillippe – so cruel and yet he looks like a choir boy in all his pretty boy innocence.  Sarah Michelle Geller’s equally cruel and beauty used to great effect.  Both narcissists and sociopaths, charming and manipulating others in a game of wits and thriving under the competition with each other.  The excitement the challenge they bring each other is palpable.  Annette is clearly the innocent – pure and chaste – who better to corrupt?

‘We can relate to at least one, if not more of the characters.  And even if we can’t, these characters fascinate beyond belief.  The danger, cruelty and the intelligence beneath the facade of beauty and sensuality can only serve to ignite and flame our sexual awakening, even though we know it’s dangerous.  At that age, when we’re deliberately and actively encouraging the breaking down of healthy boundaries, there is nothing more heady and enthralling than the characters in Cruel Intentions.

‘Film and TV can teach us so much about human nature.  The writers observe and tell us their stories in different tales and with varied experiences.  There is safety in having our minds opened whilst watching beautiful people behaving like sociopaths and getting away with it – or not.  It teaches us to explore what is out there and how others interpret the world.  Having such shows introduce us to our individual sexual awakenings is a very important and necessary teacher.  They teach us that it’s never just physical – even if it’s for a quick release.’

Twenty years on from its release, it’s clear to see there are many problems with this film. Cruel Intentions can be an uncomfortable watch, with the leak of the therapist’s daughter’s naked pictures by Sebastian and the general treatment of Ronald due to his race particularly jarring.

However, the impact that Cruel Intentions has had on the sexuality of 90s teens cannot be denied. Whether it was having a mega crush on Ryan, to being obsessed with that kiss, to just being infatuated with Kathryn despite her being pure evil, it was the source of so many fantasies and an insight into what sex could be. Watching horny rich kids live out your fantasy is one of the safest ways to figure out what you’re attracted to – and for that, we should bow down to Kathryn and co.

How many episodes are there in Leaving Neverland: Michael Jackson and Me?

Leaving Neverland begins on Channel 4 tonight amid a barrage of controversy (Picture: Corbis)

The controversial documentary Leaving Neverland: Michael Jackson And Me is set to kick off on Channel 4 on Wednesday night.

The harrowing film, which left US viewers shocked and traumatised when it aired in the US on HBO over the weekend.

Now UK viewers will also get to see it for themselves, as one of 130 territories which will be airing the documentary.

Leaving Neverland explores historic child molestation allegations against the singer, including interviews from James Safechuck and Wade Robson, who both accuse him of abusing them as children.

So just how many episodes are there in the series?

How many episodes are there in Leaving Neverland: Michael Jackson and Me?

There are two parts to the documentary, with the first on Channel 4 on Wednesday at 9pm.

The second, concluding part is on Channel 4 on Thursday night at 9pm.

Wednesday night’s instalment is one hour and 50 minutes long while Thursday night’s episode runs for two hours.

Why has the documentary proven so controversial?

Leaving Neverland contributor Wade Robson, the film's director Dan Reedf and contributor James Safechuck
Wade Robson and James Safechuck have made the allegations against Jackson in the two-part film (Picture: AP)

The film features some very graphic content as Robson and Safechuck make their allegations against the singer – with the content leaving viewers ‘disturbed’.

The singer’s estate have launched a $100m lawsuit against HBO, claiming the film violates a non-disparagement clause from a contract issued to the network in 1992 when it broadcast Michael Jackson’s performance of The Dangerous Tour in Bucharest.

Fans of Jackson have also planned to protest in Westminster against the documentary being shown on Channel 4, which in turn has reportedly ramped up security for its staff in advance of the airing.

Reports have also claimed BBC Radio 2 has stopped playing the singer’s music ahead of the airing.

Jackson’s family have also been very vocal against the documentary, with brother Jermaine appearing on Good Morning Britain in January saying: ‘Let the man rest’.

Michael Jackson estate's statement on Leaving Neverland

'Leaving Neverland isn’t a documentary, it is the kind of tabloid character assassination Michael Jackson endured in life, and now in death. The film takes uncorroborated allegations that supposedly happened 20 years ago and treats them as fact. These claims were the basis of lawsuits filed by these two admitted liars which were ultimately dismissed by a judge. The two accusers testified under oath that these events never occurred. They have provided no independent evidence and absolutely no proof in support of their accusations, which means the entire film hinges solely on the word of two perjurers.

'Tellingly, the director admitted at the Sundance Film Festival that he limited his interviews only to these accusers and their families. In doing so, he intentionally avoided interviewing numerous people over the years who spent significant time with Michael Jackson and have unambiguously stated that he treated children with respect and did nothing hurtful to them. By choosing not to include any of these independent voices who might challenge the narrative that he was determined to sell, the director neglected fact checking so he could craft a narrative so blatantly one-sided that viewers never get anything close to a balanced portrait.

'For 20 years, Wade Robson denied in court and in numerous interviews, including after Michael passed, that he was a victim and stated he was grateful for everything Michael had done for him. His family benefitted from Michael’s kindness, generosity and career support up until Michael’s death. Conveniently left out of Leaving Neverland was the fact that when Robson was denied a role in a Michael Jackson themed Cirque du Soleil production, his assault allegations suddenly emerged.

'We are extremely sympathetic to any legitimate victim of child abuse. This film, however, does those victims a disservice.  Because despite all the disingenuous denials made that this is not about money, it has always been about money – millions of dollars — dating back to 2013 when both Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who share the same law firm, launched their unsuccessful claims against Michael’s Estate. Now that Michael is no longer here to defend himself, Robson, Safechuck and their lawyers continue their efforts to achieve notoriety and a payday by smearing him with the same allegations a jury found him innocent of when he was alive.'

Vikings star Georgia Hirst has just gone and sent her fans into meltdown, after suggesting her character Torvi could become queen in the final season.

Before The Seer was savagely killed off by Ivar The Boneless, he made a prediction that her husband Ubbe would one day become king.

While the warrior has didn’t actually get his future told to him, it was his late wife and former slave girl Margrethe who unveiled what would happen to the Son of Ragnar.

Going to The Seer seeking her own prophecy, the now murdered character found out that Ubbe will some day become king.

‘Ragnar’s death would lead to calamities beyond measure. Pity to Sons of Ragnar – watching these events even the Gods weep,’ moaned The Seer as she slunk into his room.

Being her bold self, Margrethe asked: ‘Will my husband Ubbe rule Kattegat?’ to which The Seer relied: ‘No.’

She quipped: ‘Will I be queen?’ – No.

Getting annoyed the power hungry shield-maiden continued: ‘You don’t know everything…’

And it was then The Seer revealed that Ubbe would one day reign: ‘I said he would not be king of Kattegat.’

While not saying when, or even where he would he would rule – it appears if his wife Torvi would be made queen if the Ubbe were ever to be crowned.

The shield-maiden actress seemingly teased her fans that the character would one day reign, as she posted a very regal looking snap of herself while posing behind the scenes.

Here should could be seen all done up in a long dress, with her hair platted back into a bun.

In the caption, the 24-year-old simply put an emoji of a queen – and fans just could not cope.

‘Queen Torvi,’ one posted as another agreed: ‘Like a Queen,’ while other’s asked where Ubbe was.

Whether or not she will be crowned is still unknown, however we’re sure we’ll find out soon as the next and final season of Vikings is set to come out later this year.

Shirley Ballas has revealed that climbing up Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief has come with some major side effects – after nearly dying and the altitude causing her to hallucinate her late brother.

The Strictly Come Dancing star is just one of the celebrities to attempt the climb in aid of Comic Relief, however she has found herself feeling dizzy and being sick as it began to take its toll.

In one horrifying moment, David, her brother who sadly took his life 15 years ago, appeared to talk to her.

‘I was overwhelmed with how tired I was. You start to become disorientated. I felt I could hear my brother going, “Shirley”. It was really strange.

‘But I had to remember I was doing this for David and anybody who’s got mental health issues.’

Who is Wade Robson, choreographer to Britney Spears and Leaving Neverland accuser?

Emmy Award-winning choreographer Wade Robson is one of two men who have come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against Michael Jackson in the two-part documentary series Leaving Neverland.

Robson, along with James Safechuck, has said that he was subject to sexual abuse at the hands of the ‘King of Pop’ when he was a child.

On the subject, Wade has said: ‘Michael was one of the kindest, most gentle, loving, caring people I knew. And he also sexually abused me for seven years.’

Ahead of the UK premier of Leaving Neverland, part one of which airs on Wednesday 6 March, here’s everything you need to know about Jackson’s accuser Wade Robson, and his allegations against the pop star.

Who is Wade Robson?

Wade Robson could certainly be described as a dance prodigy – he started performing by the age of five, had an agent at 11, and the year after, was teaching dance classes in Hollywood.

After Robson won a prize to meet the singer when he was five years old, he was promised work in the music video for Black or White, but would later find that the job had gone to Macaulay Culkin.

When he was nine, the Australian-born Robson moved to the US with his mother and sisters, and the family would stay with Jackson at Neverland Ranch, Michael’s California home.

As a teen, Robson landed his first choreography job, and worked with the likes of NSYNC and Britney Spears in the late 1990s/early 2000s.

Robson was also the host and creator of MTV’s The Wade Robson Project, which was a talent show aimed to promote hip-hop dancers that ran in 2003.

Robson has won two Primetime Emmy Awards for his work choreographing performances on seasons two and three of So You Think You Can Dance in 2007 and 2008.

In 2005, Robson married Amanda Rodriquez, and they have a child together.

His net worth is reportedly $1 million (£760,800).

What are Wade Robson’s allegations against Michael Jackson?

In 1993, when Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse by Jordan Chandler, Robson and Safechuck both took the stand to say that they’d never been abused by the singer, and the case was settled out of court.

Now, both men say that they were coached by Jackson’s legal team to say ‘no’ to every question they were asked.

In 2005, when Jackson was charged with seven counts of child molestation, Safechuck decided not to testify, but Robson went to court in defense of Michael, and Jackson ended up being acquitted of all charges.

However, in 2013, Robson came out and said that Jackson sexually abused him when he was between the ages of seven and 14.

Wade has alleged that the abuse started when he was alone at Neverland Ranch with Jackson.

He claims that, while he was in bed, Michael started to touch his penis, and guide Robson to do the same to him.

Michael Jackson’s estate and family have been very vocal in their defense of MJ, with his nephew Taj claiming that Wade is ‘100% lying’, and the estate calling the documentary ‘outrageous’.

Robson said in an interview in 2013 with The Today Show: ‘A lot of what was going on when I was 11 [when Michael was accused of molestation by Jordan Chandler], was the direct fear that Michael put into me that if anybody was to find out about this, both of us would go to jail for the rest of our lives. I absolutely believed that. I was terrified of that. And I was terrified for Michael.

‘I loved Michael and I was trying to save him. So many things were going on at the same time: fear, shame, confusion, and love. I knew I was telling a lie but I knew I had to. I felt like I had no choice.’

Leaving Neverland airs on 6 and 7 March at 9pm on Channel 4.

Rachel Shenton spilled White Gold series two details ahead of her debut on Wednesday night as she joined Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning.

The 31-year-old actress, who won an Academy Award for Silent Child at last year’s Oscars, will make her first appearance as new rival saleswoman Jo Scott.

The last series ended with Vincent Swan (Ed Westwick) going into business with gangster Ronnie (Lee Ross) and viewers will not only see their honeymoon period ending pretty fast, but Rachel’s character swanning in to takeover and try to romance Vincent in the process.

Speaking about her debut, Rachel began: ‘She’s the big boss at Catchet Windows and Doors and is the new head of sales, much to the disappointment of Vincent and the rest of the sales team – that there’s a woman boss and it’s 1985.

Rachel Shenton will play new businesswoman Jo in White Gold (Picture: BBC)

‘That puts everyone’s back up. She goes head-to-head with Vincent and is uber ambitious and just as scrupulous as he is actually.’

‘Is there a bit of chemistry between the two of you?’ Phil quizzed.

‘I think that’s fair to say,’ Rachel reflected. ‘Is it chemistry or is power that they’re both after? They’re both such alphas, they’re both just vying for power. It may juts be that.’

It’s almost been two years since the first series of White Gold premiered on BBC Two, as production had been halted in November 2017 following allegations of sexual assault against Ed Westwick.

Filming recommenced a year later when the allegations had been dropped.

White Gold is set to return on Wednesday night at 10pm on BBC Two.

Lord of the Rings have dropped yet more clues about the premise of the Amazon series by tweeting out a map and another line from the One Ring poem.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, they wrote: ‘One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne. In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.’

Alongside the verse as another interactive map of Middle-earth, which allows us to navigate the realms as we patiently wait for more hints ahead of the show arriving in 2020.

This is the latest in a handful of cryptic teasers from the show, with the last reading: ‘Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,’ and naturally fans are freaking out, screaming: ‘OH MY GOD I WAS LITERALLY IN A MEETING I RUSHED OUT FOR THIS LETS GOOO.’

The Lord of the Rings have dropped another clue on Twitter (Picture: Twitter)

Not much has been revealed about the new Lord of the Rings series, with Amazon taping up windows and taking fingerprints in a desperate bid to avoid the show leaking.

Amazon Studios Chief Jennifer Salke explained to Hollywood Reporter: ‘There’s a fantastic writers room working under lock and key.

‘They’re already generating really exciting material. They’re down in Santa Monica.

‘You have to go through such clearance, and they have all their windows taped closed.

‘And there’s a security guard that sits outside, and you have to have a fingerprint to get in there, because their whole board is up on a thing of the whole season.’

The Walking Dead’s Tom Payne let slip that Amazon are currently casting Aragorn, getting us all excited that he’ll be getting on board.

Outnumbered actress Ramona Marquez celebrated her 18th birthday in style last week, by getting an intricate new tattoo on her arm.

The actress, who flew on to our screens as Karen Brockman in the BBC series, showed off her inking – a fire-breathing dragon – on Instagram.

She simply uploaded the photo with two dragon emojis, for her 87k followers, showing her transformation into the girl with the dragon tattoo.

And it looks like we’re not the only ones, as fans rushed to praise the design under her snap.

‘Sore one for your first tattoo, good going,’ one posted.

‘You’re so awesome,’ another impressed fan posted. ‘I am literally in awe of ur tattoo (sic).’

While an Instagram user added: ‘Honestly looooveeee this!!!’

Side note: Is anyone feeling really old now?

Ramona came to fame as part of the Brockman family, in BBC sitcom Outnumbered, when she was just six-years-old.

She starred alongside on-screen parents Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner, and ‘brothers’ Tyger Drew-Honet and Daniel Roche in the show.

And, despite the series not being on air for years, she came together with her ‘siblings’ for a pre-Christmas bash at the end of last year.

Thanks for the invite, guys.

The cast had a slightly awkward scandal last year when it was revealed Hugh and Claire – aka Pete and Sue Brockman – were actually dating in real life.

Hugh confirmed the news in a chat with the Mail On Sunday, explaining they were ‘in a good place’.

‘I am very, very happy, we are so very happy. It’s nice and yes, it’s so lovely,’ he said at the time.’

Avengers: Endgame will be ‘perfect’ says Kevin Feige (Picture: Marvel)

With Avengers: Endgame just around the corner, director Kevin Feige has found himself teasing what’s to come in the highly anticipated movie.

And while discussing running times with Digital Spy, he told the publication that the upcoming release is going to be ‘perfect.’

Okay, we get that he will be bias because it’s his baby, but hear him out.

‘We’re gonna release the movie at the exact right running time,’ the 45-year-old stated before adding: ‘I’m telling you this, it’s gonna be perfect. It’s gonna be the exact running time that the movie needs to be.’

Endgame theory suggests it sets up a secret invasion movie
He teased ‘lots of story and characters’ (Picture: Marvel Studios)

Talking about what’s to come, he continued: ‘I think there’s a lot of story in that movie and a lot of characters in that movie.

‘In all seriousness, we don’t look at run times in terms of mandates, or anything like that. Every movie should feel like it’s an hour and 45 minutes.’

The star then described how some films can last three hours yet only feel like 90 minutes while others are 90 minutes and feel like they’re hours long.

He added: ‘So for us, that’s what it … It’s, “how does it feel?” And every version of Endgame thus far, and the ones that we’re honing in on, feel very good.’

Many of the details surrounding the movie have been kept under wraps by the cast and crew, with the name only being released at the end of last year.

Kevin said the film ‘feels very good’ (Picture: Getty Images)

Talking about why the bosses decided not to reveal how the movie was titled ‘Endgame’ Kevin told Collider that they thought it would be too much of a spoiler for fans.

While at a Captain Marvel press day, the director said: ‘Well, I think I’d said that it all had gotten blown out of proportion to some extent.

‘But it was a spoiler, because if you knew before Infinity War came out that the next movie was called Endgame, then you know that there wasn’t an ending to Infinity War.

He added: ‘But that had been the title of the movie from the moment we conceived of doing the two films. In large part, because…it’s seeded right there. I mean, it’s seeded in Ultron.’

Avengers: Endgame is in cinemas 26 April.

Good Omens’ trailer finally drops as David Tennant and Michael Sheen prepare for the end of the world

The world is ending in the trailer Good Omens – and we couldn’t be more excited about it if we tried.

Our first look at Michael Sheen and David Tennant (as an angel and demon joining forces to find the Anti-Christ before the world ends) the new clips promise lots of action and fun within the midst of the Apocalypse.

One thing’s for sure, they’re really under pressure! (Get it?)

Would you trust these two with the end of the universe? (Picture: Joel Zietcer/Amazon)

Good Omens, based of the book my Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, colours the story of Angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley four days before the end of the world.

With the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse assembling, the duo destined to hate each other decide to throw their differences aside in a bid to stop everything around them collapsing.

In just two minutes, the series looks completely, wonderfully bonkers – and teases a small British village being shaken forever as the Horsemen are summoned.

On a mission to find the anti-Christ, will they succeed in their mission? (Picture: Joel Zietcer/Amazon)

Which causes Aziraphale to ask the obvious question: ‘Who on earth summons them?!’

As they get ready for everything to be ruined, the unlikely friendship goes to the next level to try and save the world, and themselves in the process.

But with Mad Men’s Jon Hamm seemingly orchestrating the whole thing happening, the cat and mouse chase is officially on.

The all-star cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of Satan, Frances McDormand playing God, Parks and Rec’s Nick Offerman, and Jack Whitehall to name a few.

As well as appearing on Amazon, it will later appear on BBC2 in the UK.

Good Omens debuts on 31 May on Amazon Prime.

What are BTS star signs?
(Picture: Getty)

BTS are one of the hottest bands in the world right now, and have sold out arenas across the globe.

As with any Korean Idols, their fans want to know absolutely everything about them, from their shoe size to their favourite food.

One of these important details is also their star signs, as you can really find out a lot about someone from their astrological chart.

Let’s take a look at the star signs of each and every BTS member, as well as which ones they’d be most romantically compatible with.

Jimin star sign

(Picture: Twitter)

23-year-old Jimin was born on 13 October 1995, which makes him a Libra.

Libra is shown as the weighing scales in astrology, as people born under that sign are fair and pragmatic. They’re also social and co-operative, liking to work as part of a team and share with friends.

Some of the more negative traits of a Libra is that they can be indecisive at times, and avoid confrontation even when it’s necessary.

The most compatible signs with Libra are generally considered to be Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius.

Jin star sign

(Picture: Han Myung-Gu/WireImage)

Jin is 26 and was born on 4 December 1992.

As a Sagittarius, it’s known that he has a great sense of humour, and is a great friend due to his generous nature. Travel is one particular thing Sags love, so the BTS tour schedule will likely make him very happy indeed.

Sagittarius people can be prone to impatience and not thinking before they speak, however.

The most compatible signs with Sagittarius are generally considered to be Aries, Leo, Libra and Aquarius.

V star sign

(Picture: Pix/REX/Shutterstock)

V’s birthday is right after Christmas on – December 30. This makes our Kim Tae-hyung a Capricorn – one of the most responsible signs in the zodiac.

People born under this sign tend to have a very disciplined attitude, and make the best managers and leaders.

Their self-control means they’re extremely dedicated to their craft – much like V – but it can mean they have a tendency to feel like they know it all.

The most compatible signs with Capricorn are generally considered to be Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio and Pisces.

Suga star sign

(Picture: BTS/Facebook)

Born on March 9, 1993, Suga is a Pisces; the fish of the zodiac.

This water sign is characterised by an artistic and musical side, and an ability to be empathetic and compassionate – and a love of romance.

They can be guilty of escapism and naivety, though, as well as sometimes being self-pitying.

The most compatible signs with Pisces are generally considered to be Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn.

Rap Monster star sign

(Picture: BTS/Facebook)

RM was born on September 12, 1994, and is a Virgo.

As the leader of the band, it won’t surprise you to know that some of Virgo’s traits include being hard-working and conscientious. They are also very loyal, and love nature, books, and cleanliness.

They can be sometimes overly critical – both of themselves and others – and work a bit too hard.

The most compatible signs with Virgo are generally considered to be Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn.

Jungkook

(Picture: Pix/REX/Shutterstock)

BTS baby Jungkook is 21, and was born on September 1. This makes him a Virgo, just like RM.

His friendship with RM will likely be pleasant and harmonious, as they both share loyalty and a love of logic.

Because they both like things to be very orderly, they’ll seldom be annoyed at each other for leaving things in the wrong place or making a mess.

J-Hope star sign

BTS Coca-Cola pictures
(Picture: Coca-Cola)

February 18 is the birthday of J-Hope. That means he’s an Aquarius.

They’re especially known for their humanitarian and animal-loving ways, and they love to help others and fight for justice.

Romantically, they can be somewhat mysterious, and tend to have struggles committing or revealing their true feelings.

The most compatible signs with Aquarius are generally considered to be Aries, Gemini, Libra and Sagittarius.

Naomi Campbell paid tribute to her mother as she gave an inspirational speech at WE Day today, having graced the red carpet with ‘boyfriend’ Liam Payne.

While they weren’t pictured together (miracles do happen, but not today, fam) the supermodel was in great spirits as she spoke about her mother Valerie Morris and credited her for supporting her modelling career.

The 48-year-old took to the stage at the SSE Arena in Wembley on Wednesday morning with a passionate speech encouraging social change.

‘The lack of social mobility is something we hear a lot about these days but let’s be positive and create our own mobility,’ she told the crowd. ‘Upwards is the world. Let’s keep on pushing to ensure that whatever our skill sets, backgrounds we maximise our potential.’

Speaking alongside the likes of the Duke Of Sussex, Iskra Lawrence and Nicole Scherzinger, Naomi added: ‘We need to set our goals ourselves and then work on achieving them day and night. Never give up! I myself come from South London from a modest background. And my mother Valerie has been my huge supporter in believing in me.’

Talking about the prejudice she had to overcome in the modelling industry she encouraged punters not to give up on their dream.

‘Follow your passion and dreams and give 100 and ten percent!’ she added. ‘I overcame prejudice and various obstacles in my life to be up on this stage today and I wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else but here right now.’

Naomi rocked up to the event in London on Wednesday morning along with singer Liam, 25, who she was said to have started dating in in January, after they took a trip to Ghana and later enjoyed a reported date night in London where they were pictured together.

It was thought the pair would go public with their so-called relationship at a Baftas after-party, as well as the Brits late last month however the two have remained schtum on any romance up to now.

The WE Charity is a children’s charity that was founded in 1995 and has raised $45 million (£34 million) since 2007.

The charity empowers people to transform themselves and their communities through a sustainable development model.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice hands-on preview – souls of the ninja

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Dark Souls with ninjas
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – Dark Souls with ninjas

GameCentral gets several hours play on the latest game from the creator of Dark Souls, in what might be the ultimate ninja sim.

Arya Stark in Game of ThronesGame of Thrones season 8 trailer: Arya Stark may have confirmed a long-running theory

Before we attended the preview event for Sekiro we were warned that review copies would not be available before release at the end of this month. That’s just about the worst warning sign you can get for a game, but we feel confident in saying that, in this case at least, it’s just the publisher being weird – and not a comment on the game’s quality. We suspected that would be the case after having played it briefly at Gamescom last year, but even without that experience knowing that this is by the creator of Dark Souls is guarantee enough of something interesting.

Not only is Sekiro by FromSoftware but the director is Hidetaka Miyazaki himself, the man responsible for the first and third Dark Souls games and PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne. That is a hell of a track record and it’s pleasing to see that his next game is something relatively different and not just another sequel. Although we use the word ‘relatively’ on purpose because Sekiro is still very obviously from the same lineage as the other Soulsborne games.

FromSoftware has a long history with publishing the Tenchu games in Japan and it’s easy to see this as Miyazaki’s homage to the series. Tenchu is a game whose importance has been sadly forgotten over time, even though it helped to popularise the concept of stealth gameplay and predates Metal Gear Solid by over six months. Beyond the use of a grappling hook though the similarities with Sekrio are fairly broad, as you take control of a veteran ninja known only as Wolf.

As the game opens Wolf is given the task of rescuing the ‘divine heir’, to whom he has pledged his allegiance. This takes the form of a tutorial level where you learn to make use of stealth to avoid the gaze of enemies, listen into their conversations, and engage in platforming that, while still fairly simplistic, is a lot more involved than any previous Soulsborne game.

As you’d expect from the creator of Dark Souls, Sekiro is a very difficult game with Wolf only able to survive a few direct hits from even low-level enemies. Although arguably the biggest danger comes from the fact that the various human and supernatural enemies are a lot more competent watchmen than the average stealth game, and are able to not only spot you from a distance but don’t easily give up when they think you’re around.

Meeting the divine heir you’re finally given a sword and the chance to try out the game’s combat, which is fast and fluid and based around the principles of counters and performing a ‘deathblow’. The swordplay is relatively similar to a faster version of Dark Souls, but where the most important concern is to break the poise of your enemy. With less armoured opponents this can be achieved simply through a flurry of attacks, but in most cases you have to block their attack at the last minute or anticipate it enough to maneuverer around them and strike from a different angle.

However you do it your ultimate goal is to try to deliver a ‘shinobi deathblow’ a finishing move style attack that will kill most enemies in one go – although many of the boss and mini-boss characters will need more than one deathblow to kill them. A deathblow can come from normal combat but also stealth attacks, where you sneak up on hapless enemies from behind or jump down on them from above. Either way it’s hugely satisfying and really sells the whole idea of being a super-efficient ninja.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - the graphics are fairly low-tech but they can still impress
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – the graphics are fairly low-tech but they can still impress

The tutorial level proves to be a fake out of sorts as you’re faced with an unbeatable opponent who kidnaps the divine heir and leaves you for dead. You’re found by a mysterious, possibly supernatural, carpenter who has fashioned you a prosthetic arm. Initially this is used to house a grappling hook but eventually can be upgraded to fire shuriken, fireworks (to scare animals), fire bombs, and no doubt much else. Although the ammunition for this is in fairly short supply and can only be rarely found or obtained from more powerful enemies.

The grappling hook is easy enough to use when just aiming it at a spot and climbing up automatically but whether it’s possible to swing, Spider-Man like, through the trees we’re not so sure, as we never got that proficient with it. But while the stealth is very unforgiving, given the competence of most enemies, we did find the combat in general to be a little less difficult than any of Miyazaki’s previous games.

Once you realise that the enemies are working under the same restrictions as you, including a quickly dwindling stamina bar, battles become an exhilaratingly tense test of nerves as well as skill (helped, in large part, by some excellent incidental music). Strike too early and you leave yourself open to an almost instant death but keep your cool and you can dispatch enemies with relative easy.

At one point in the preview we were skipped ahead to a later level, that features ogres and guards with shields, but impressed ourselves by not dying once. Even if a few of our victories were rather ungainly and/or relied on hiding round corners and stabbing an enemy as they ran past. That and the fact that you get a chance to resurrect yourself where you stand once per trip to the game’s main level hub.

If you do die then, just like any Soulsborne game, you lose everything and are sent back to the last bonfire equivalent (a little light-up shrine) but not only did this happen less often than we expected but a combination of stealth and use of the grappling hook means you can catch up with yourself pretty quickly.

That’s probably why you can’t just collect your items and experience by going back to where you died but there does seem to be some kind of percentage chance that your belongs can be reclaimed. It seemed to be set at around 30% though and we didn’t quite understand that element, as it was also affected by something called dragon rot – which appears to be a means to make things purposefully more difficult for your useful; a typical FromSoftware addition.

In terms of graphics it’s clear this is a fairly low budget production but there’s some striking visuals, with surprisingly expansive levels with a lot of verticality. Not being quite as hard as one of the most famously hard video games ever might not mean much but we found Sekiro’s mix of stealth and action extremely satisfying, with none of the awkward long hours of practice usually needed to become even semi-competent.

So if there are no reviews before launch don’t take that as a bad omen, because this is looking like being another FromSoftware classic and one that’s uniquely different from the ones that have come before.

Devil May Cry 5 review – diabolically stylish

Devil May Cry 5 (PS4) - Dante, and friends, are back
Devil May Cry 5 (PS4) – Dante, and friends, are back

Dante and Nero return for Capcom’s outrageously over-the-top action sequel in a game that will delight both new fans and old.

thumbnail for post ID 8839992Toby Alderweireld believes new Tottenham stadium will be best in the world

Video games are all about second chances, and third and fourth and however many other lives you’re granted. Perseverance can overcome almost any obstacle, whether you’re a gamer trying to beat that final boss or a developer trying to ensure the survival of a beloved franchise. Devil May Cry has had its ups and down, with two controversial entries that still divide the fanbase, and that’s made things difficult for a style of game that’s previously never enjoyed much mainstream appeal.

We always felt 2013 reboot DmC: Devil May Cry was poorly treated by fans, and we know, after having spoken to him, that series overseer Hideaki Itsuno feels the same way. There are some welcome nods to the most recent game here, but it’s also made very clear that this is a direct sequel to the previous numbered entries – and not the soft reboot some may have been expecting.

For those not familiar with the series, Devil May Cry is part of a small sub-genre that’s never really had an unanimously accepted name but which encompasses Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, Heavenly Sword, and, arguably, the early God Of War games. Devil May Cry was the originator of the concept though, with both it and Bayonetta created by PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya. Bayonetta has been the standard bearer for the genre in recent years but now has a serious rival again, because this is the best Devil May Cry has ever been.

We’re glad there’s a ‘History of DMC’ summary available from the game’s main menu because we’re not sure we could do the enjoyably nonsensical plot justice. The basics are very simple though: series lead Dante is a demon hunter (while also being part demon himself) and is hired by a mysterious man named V to investigate a series of supernatural attacks. This brings him to a fictionalised version of London, where a gigantic demonic tree, that feeds on human blood, has sprouted up.

There is nothing subtle or plausible about Devil May Cry’s storytelling and for many that’s part of the appeal. The cocky bravado of Dante, and fellow demon hunter Nero, is cheesy and over-the-top but in such an earnest manner it’s somehow endearing. How seriously it’s meant to be taken is always difficult to tell (especially after Itsuno explained the concept chu-ni to us in an interview last year) but it leads to a lot of mostly intentional comedy and some wonderfully over-the-top cut scenes.

But Devil May Cry is not one of those games where you get to see the characters participate in all manner of athletic action during a cut scene and then find out the in-game action is far more mundane. Fighting as stylishly as possible is entirely the point of Devi May Cry, with the game constantly grading your performance – in terms of skill, fluidity, and variety of moves – to S-rank and beyond. That could easily be seen as discouraging for newer players but one of the great achievements of Devil May Cry 5 is how accessible it makes itself without compromising the core gameplay.

Not only are there multiple difficulty modes and an auto-assist option for combos but every gameplay concept and technique is carefully explained and introduced in a way that allows you to experiment and practice as much as you like. Devil May Cry 5 can get quite hard towards the end but the real challenge comes from bettering your own scores, not simply getting through the game, and that allows it to be appreciated by all kinds of different players.

What also helps is that the game features three very different playable characters, with you often having the option to pick which one you want to play as in each mission. Nero is clearly the beginner’s option, with a simple mix of guns and a sword he can rev with what looks like a motorcycle throttle. In that sense he works very similarly to his appearance in Devil May Cry 4 but he starts the game missing an arm – thanks to the same demon tree-sprouting bad guy – and can replace the missing limb with a range of prosthetic ones that imbue different special abilities, from stopping time to lightning attacks.

By comparison, Dante has a more complex moveset and is when the game bears the closest resemblance to Bayonetta. Dante can utilise much more complex combos between guns and melee combat and can also turn into a demon for a few seconds. But on top of that he can also change combat styles via the D-pad, to emphasise guns, melee attacks, defence, or agility. These can be ignored at first but give a clear advantage when fighting different types of enemies.

More moves and abilities can be bought from shops (including using real money, rather disturbingly, although we certainly never felt the need to use microtransactions), which allows you to increase the complexity of the game at your own pace. Each character also has their own individual skill tree to unlock, using items collected from defeated foes. Even with Dante the game never has quite the same range and complexity of moves as Bayonetta, but the combination of different characters and abilities ensures it never feels shallow by the comparison.

Both Dante and Nero are veterans of the series but the third playable character, V, is brand new. He uses a cane and is physically very weak, so he can’t fight enemies directly – only finish them off once they’ve already been injured. Instead he uses demons to fight for him: a machinegun-equipped bird, a Venom-esque panther, and a giant goelm-like creature as his special move (whose summons meter can be increased by reading from a book and making V even more vulnerable).

V still uses the same underlying controls as the other two characters, since he’s basically engaging with a similar mix of ranged and melee attacks, so taking control of him isn’t quite as disorientating as it might sound, but trying to keep him safe while he organises the attacks is a pleasingly different challenge. V is so good, in fact, that he almost risks unbalancing the game, as we kept wanting to use him instead of the others. Having a choice is clearly for the best though and further increases the compulsion to replay missions.

That desire is fuelled further by a huge collection of very enjoyable boss battles and a wide selection of optional extras to collect and find along the way – not just Nero’s robot arms but optional weapons that include a pair of nunchakus that transform into a giant match and a motorcycle that can be broken apart into two giant circular saws. It’s all fantastically over-the-top and demonstrates that such a traditionally ‘video game-y’ release can be as self-indulgently imaginative as it likes and still remain surprisingly accessible.

In terms of flaws the game has no real Achilles heel, although inevitably not everyone will get on with the cheesy characterisations and silly plot. And while the combat is very welcoming for novices the camera and lock-on system could certainly be more helpful and requires a lot of manual adjustment.

Our only other complaint is that the backdrops remain very static and inert, a problem the genre has always suffered from – presumably because all the processing power is put into maintaining a 60fps frame rate. There are usually a few destructible items laying around but there’s still a lack of dynamism to most environments, despite the generally good graphics (powered by the same engine as Resident Evil 2).

Devil May Cry 5 is a triumphal return for the series, with a host of end game secrets that you really shouldn’t wait on someone else to spoil for you. It’s the most approachable and varied any similar game has ever been and yet deep enough to satisfy long-term fans as well. What a few years ago might have been written off as niche franchise, doomed never to return, has reinvented itself as one of the best action games of the generation.

Devil May Cry 5

In Short: A perfectly judged comeback that’s full of all the wild invention and stylish mayhem fans demand but proves surprisingly accessible and varied for everyone else.

Pros: All three characters are great to control and very distinctive, with V being a real revelation. Wide range of difficulty modifiers and additional abilities and moves. Great boss battles.

Cons: The camera and lock-on requires a bit too much nannying to keep on top of. Static levels lack dynamism.

Game of Thrones season 8 trailer: Arya Stark may have confirmed a long-running theory about the Winterfell crypts

The Game of Thrones trailer has finally landed and of course there’s a mother-tonne of headache inducing material to unpack.

HBO released the epic two-minute long minefield of jaw-dropping scenes from season eight yesterday, and immediately fans were freaking out for poor Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) who opened the promo by legging it for her life.

But what was she running from? The young warrior appeared to be alone in House Stark while the rest of Westeros went to war with The Night King (Vladimir Furdik) and his army of the dead.

However, there’s been speculation from fans since the beginning of Game of Thrones over what is actually hiding in the Winterfell crypt, which Arya, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) explored in a recent teaser – minus Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), which caused all sorts of panic.

Turner insisted the teaser meant nothing, but at the time Game of Thrones YouTube series, Talking Thrones, did some pretty astounding detective work and dug deep into the secrets of the Stark vaults.

The cellar contains all the fallen members of House Stark and is bigger than Winterfell itself, with each deceased’s statue accompanied by a large stone direwolf, curled up at their feet and an iron sword placed on their lap to ‘keep vengeful spirits within the crypts’.

Jon also had nightmares about what could be lurking deep down in the tombs and there’s absolutely no way it’s not all coming out before the finale.

So, was Arya actually running away from the ghosts rising from the crypts while the rest of Winterfell have abandoned her to take on The Night King? It seems so…

Well, finally we can say that all will be revealed next month.

Metro.co.uk have also broken down all the details from the Game of Thrones season eight trailer, including the arrival of Harry Strickland and The Golden Company, the great relief Tormund and Beric survived the fall of the wall, as well as the first look at television’s ‘biggest ever’ battle.

Game of Thrones season 8 comes to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14.

Characters in Apex Legends
(Respawn/EA)

Apex Legends has been one of the early hits of 2019, with the game gaining over 50 million players after just a month.

It was initially launched by EA and Respawn at the start of February and is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The Battle Royale game also uses elements from other games, particularly the Titanfall series that Respawn also developed.

Players drop onto an island in squads of three and then search for weapons and other items to help them survive and eliminate their opponents.

The growth of the game emulates a lot of the early success of Fortnite, and it seems to be reaching early milestones faster than the Epic Games release did back in 2017.

Like Fortnite the game is free-to-play but as all the gameplay takes place online, do you need a PS Plus subscription to play it?

Can you play Apex Legends without PS Plus?

The good news is that you don’t need a PS Plus subscription if you want to play Apex Legends on your PS4, and the same goes for Xbox Gold on the Xbox One.

Much like Fortnite, the game can be played completely for free without any need for a subscription on your console.

However, if you do have a PSPlus subscription and are playing Apex Legends already, you can get a free PlayStation Plus Play Pack from the PlayStation store which includes 6 exclusive items to use in the game.

The pack includes 2 exclusive PS themed weapon camo for the flatline and RE45, as well as a character camo and a banner for Gibraltar and Bloodhound.

Is Apex Legends cross-platform?

Apex Legends is not cross-platform at the moment, which means that currently you can only play with people are using the same platform as you.

However, Respawn has suggested that cross-platform is a part of their plans, although there is no set date of when that will be.

Fortnite became a crossplay game last year and this even included the PS4 once Sony gave in to requests from fans in September.

The crossplay feature on Fortnite means that players can compete with their friends no matter what platform they are playing on.

Despite crossplay being part of Respawns plans, it has said that cross-progression won’t be possible ‘due to the way systems were set up early on’.

Hideo Kojima says Death Stranding is ‘slightly behind’ schedule

The least surprising news you could get about Death Stranding (Picture: Kojima Productions)

Death Stranding is not going to be ready on time according to creator Hideo Kojima, perhaps indicating it will become a cross-generation title with the PlayStation 5.

Kojima is known for his perfectionism and delaying his projects until they meet his lofty standards, so it comes as no surprise Death Stranding appears to be going through the same motions.

In an interview with Japanese site J-Wave, (translated by IGN Japan) Kojima states: ‘It’s common for studios to fall behind their planned release date, and Death Stranding is very slightly behind our initial plan, but not behind by much.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Kojima explains he’s currently playing Death Stranding and giving feedback and direction based on his experience – with his team at Kojima Productions making adjustments to polish the title.

There’s no official release date for Death Stranding as of yet, with many wondering if it could arrive in 2019 before Sony’s other major titles The Last Of Us Part II and Ghosts Of Tshushima.

With the PlayStation 5 expected to be unveiled in some form this year or early next, it’s left the question of whether some of these titles could be pushed back to launch their new hardware.

Death Stranding has been described as an action game set in an open world environment, with main character Sam (played by Norman Reedus) sent to a purgatory-like alternative world every time the player dies.

Lead actor Norman Reedus recently spoke to GameCentral about the title and working with Kojima, explaining how it’s ‘crazy complicated’.

It’s a particularly important game for Hideo Kojima, as it represents the first project for his new independent studio Kojima Productions following his messy split from Konami in 2015.

Death Stranding will release exclusively on PlayStation 4, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
