Leonardo’s dating life has been pretty public…well, not to him, perhaps (Picture: Getty)
Leonardo DiCaprio seems to have a penchant for dating women younger than him. That’s fact. And there’s nothing wrong with it.
While we’ve seen his dating history does reveal he hasn’t dated anyone in their 30s, well, ever (or at least since it started becoming something of public interest), someone wanted to solidify that with a handy graph.
Everyone loves a graph.
In the past many have made light of the Oscar-winner’s dating history, perhaps none so more than Tina Fey when she said at the 2014 Golden Globes: ‘And now, like a supermodel’s vagina, please give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio.’
Leo is currently dating Camila (Picture: Rex Features)
Anyway, fast forward to now and Reddit user u/TrustLittleBrother detailed the actor’s love life and out popped an interesting illustration of his dating pattern.
Titled Leonardo DiCaprio Refuses To Date A Woman Over 25, it really does exactly what it says on the tin.
Highlighted in its histogram glory, old mate shows us that while 44-year-old Leo might be getting older, his ladies are staying roughly the same in age.
We’re noticing a pattern here (Picture: u/TrustLittleBrother)
The women listed on the graph start at Gisele Bundchen, who he dated between the ages of 18 and 23 (that’s her, not him – he was 25), then Bar Rafaeli, who was 20-25 when they were together before slitting in 2010.
He had a short fling with Blake Lively, who in 2011, at the time, was 23, before moving into Erin Heatherton, who was 22.
For two years he dated Toni Garrn, who was 20-21 at the time, before reaching another age limit with Kelly Rohrbach who was 25 at the time of their smooches.
Nine Agdal reached the limit in 2017 and his current girlfriend, Camila Morrone, is well under, being 21 right now.
Hey, age is but a number, right? You all keep doing your thing.
Punters were pretty drawn to the graph, mainly because it also showed that he’s yet to have a relationship longer than six years – while many others were impressed the Redditor used Excel to put the graph together. Skills.
Anyway, while the ages and graph may be in depth, it tells us nothing about why Leo is going for the younger women (we can hypothesis some reasons…and good for him – also, should the genders be reversed, good for her).
However, in her memoir, Gisele lifted the lid on what may have been the reason behind her split with the Revenant star.
‘No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I’d chosen not to look at,’ she wrote, explaining she was experiencing panic attacks toward the end of their relationship.
‘Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes.’

The 60-year-old will front fresh BBC One series Curiosity, which will put contestant’s knowledge of history, antiques and collectables to the test.
Two teams use their skills, expertise and intuition, against the clock, to value and date the items in Paul’s fictional shop.
That’s it though as they’ll also be tasked with finding fakes, spotting links behind objects and discovering the stories behind the kind of trinkets and treasures that cram collectable emporiums and second hand shops throughout the land.
Curiosity is expected to arrive on the BBC in April (Picture: BBC)
Talking about the new game show, which he created with his wife Charlotte, Paul enthused: ‘We took inspiration from The Crystal Maze. There are four room which span four centuries and a central area where the quiz takes place.
‘Contestants who complete challenges win items which are curiously curated and added up in value, with the highest value collection winning the chance to swapping the their collection for an item in the curiosity shop, which could make or lose them money.’
He added to Irish News: ‘The losers get a Curiosity mug – a piece of tat from a junk shop that we put a logo on –which could be priceless in years to come, if the show is a success.’
Dan McGolpin, Controller of BBC Programming and Daytime, said: ‘This year I’m excited to be bringing BBC viewers a new generation of daytime series, often entertaining, sometimes serious, and always high-quality.’
Curiosity is expected to air on the BBC in April.

Raz B has returned to the B2K tour just hours after pulling out (Picture: WireImage)
Raz B has returned to the B2K tour, just hours after pulling out of performing altogether.
The Bump Bump Bump singer, real name De’Mario Monte Thornton shared a video on his Instagram page, dropping out of the 35 concerts planned so far, after previously alleging former manager Chris Stokes sexually abused him as a child.
Stokes has strongly denied all allegations.
Speaking about why he decided to take a step back from the reunion, Raz, 33, claimed he didn’t ‘feel safe’ on the road with his former manager.
Raz later revealed he would be on tour with his B2K bandmates (Picture: Instagram)
In a now-deleted Instagram, he told his 92.1k followers: ‘Raz B is officially off the tour.
‘I don’t feel safe because I feel like Chris Stokes is around. So guess what? I’m off the tour. Good luck to everybody.
‘No disrespect to [Omarion] because he’s my brother. [Omarion] if you want to come talk to me and you want me to do the tour, I’ll do the tour, but I’m officially off the tour.’
However, Raz quickly changed his mind and revealed he would be joining his former bandmembers on stage.
‘I am a work in progress,’ he later said. ‘I appreciate the outpouring of love, empathy, and understanding from my supporters. I look forward to continuing the Millennium tour for our fans. You all deserve it!’
The star previously came forward with sexual abuse allegations against Stokes in 2007, claiming he was an ‘incest perpetrator’.
Brother Ricky Thornton, who was in the band with Raz, also came forward with allegations.
In a tweet shared at the end of last year, Stokes told his 101k followers: ‘Negativity I will never play into. I never hurt any of B2K & always had their best interest at heart including financially. I forgive any negative energy or tweets!
‘God forgives and so do I. They back! Now stay positive in 2019 & go get your tix! Enjoy them being back! Much love!’

Natalie Portman is launching her own acting masterclasses (Picture: Getty Images)
Natalie Portman is no stranger to the big screen, an Oscar winning actress who’s pretty much done it all from intense thrillers like Black Swan to nailing the perfect rom-com in No Strings Attached (still a go-to favourite).
So who better than her to teach you how to act? That’s what she thought, and now, Natalie has launched her very own acting masterclass for us all to take part in and achieve Hollywood stardom for ourselves – alright, we can dream.
Basically, the 37-year-old is following in the footsteps of Helen Mirren and Samuel L Jackson and sharing her insight into the acting industry and what it takes to be successful.
Natalie hasn’t been to your traditional drama school and has pretty much learnt the tricks of the trade through her own accord.
Natalie even has a whole list of awards to her name, including the Academy Award for Best Actress for her appearance in Black Swan, so anything she can teach us is going to be pretty incredible.
She’ll be sharing her knowledge in a series of classes on the Masterclass website that will tackle everything from character development to green-screen acting and dialect coaching and, according to Vogue, the classes will cost £85.
Speaking about her online masterclasses, Natalie has said: ‘Acting is a joyful experience. It’s the act of empathy and play.
‘You should be free to be creative, try new things and make mistakes. That is how I learned.
‘I’m excited to share what I’ve pieced together over 25 years as an actress – things that have worked for me, things that I’ve seen work well for others and tips I created to help myself.’
Natalie most recently appeared in new Netflix film Annihilation – a haunting sci-fi thriller that sees her character Lena search for her missing husband after he vanishes during a secret mission.

Tonight’s episode had a lot of bodily functions mentioned.
Ed Balls was whistling whilst on the toilet earlier on in the piece, seemingly pretty happy with his place in the aforementioned club.
Then Pointless’s Alexander Armstrong basically detailed that they all talk about everything including bodily functions – guess that’s what happens when you grow close climbing a massive mountain.
Dan late continued his ode to stools, as he said: ‘I like talking about poo, so that’s fine by me. I find it liberating.’
Taking a moment to rest amid the tough climb, the team then went through the Bristol stool chart which details the seven different types of poo.
Viewers thought the whole thing was a riot as they reacted on social media.
‘@mrdanwalker might have to watch the rest of this on catch up…just got in and sat down for tea…had no idea you’d talk about poo this much (pasta and meatballs if you’re interested),’ one said, before commending the crew on their job. ‘Well done though.’
Another was a little more straight forward, as they said: ‘@mrdanwalker Poo Club. And there’s a chart. Who knew?’
Another was a fan that Jade was in the crew, as they chimed in: ‘Ofc Jade has to be in the Poo Club she is my poopey.’
Some of Britain’s much-loved entertainers have been climbing Kilimanjaro in order to raise money for the charity and all nine celebrities who started the challenge have now made it to the summit.
There’s a big variety there, with two of the Little Mixers getting stuck in; Jade and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. They’re joined by Pointless host Alexander, and pundit and former NFL star Osi Umenyiora.
BBC Breakfast’s Dan, the tallest member of the group, saw Comic Relief joking that he’d be the tallest man on the whole continent of Africa when he reached the summit.
Shirley Ballas and Dani Dyer have struck up a friendship during their time scaling the peaks, as well, along with Politician Ed and TV presenter Anita Rani.

Lori Loughlin has posted a $1million bond securing her release from custody amid ongoing investigations into a college admissions bribe scam (Picture: WireImage)
Lori Loughlin turned herself into authorities on Wednesday and has been set a $1million (£751,365) release bond by a judge.
Both she and her husband Mossimo Giannulli were indicted for their alleged involvement in the college admissions scam.
Giannulli was arrested on Tuesday morning and taken into custody. He was later released after being set a $1million bond and forced to surrender his passport.
Lori hadn’t been arrested as she had been in Vancouver, Canada working.

TMZ reports the Fuller House star made prior arrangements with the FBI to surrender herself on her return to Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The publication claims Lori has been set the same bond as her husband, $1million, and ‘put her home up as collateral’ to secure the bond.
It’s reported Loughlin has been granted permission to travel to Vancouver to continue her working commitments with the Hallmark Channel, but she is required to surrender her passport in December once her contracted work has come to an end.
Metro.co.uk have reached out to a rep for Lori for comment.
Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli allegedly agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 to get their two daughters onto the USC crew team.
Felicity Huffman was also named in the investigation and is expected to appear in court (Picture: WireImage)
Reports suggest that even though they did not participate, it ‘facilitated their admission to USC’.
The admissions scam centres around a Californian man running a business helping students to get into their chosen college by paying off exam administrators or sports coaches.
In most cases, students reportedly had no knowledge of the scam or their parents’ involvement.
She was also forced to surrender her passport and her travel has been restricted to the US.
Huffman is facing charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.
Felicity and her husband William H Macy made a purported charitable donation of $15,000 (£11k) that authorities believe helped their eldest daughter to get into college.
Macy has not been indicted.

R Kelly appeared in court over his child support payments (Picture: AP)
R Kelly kept his head down as he left a court hearing, in Chicago, after a judge refused to lower the child support payments he pays to ex-wife Andrea Kelly.
The disgraced singer was flanked by his legal team as he appeared in Chicago, in a bid to reduce the $21,000 (£15.7k) monthly instalments he currently owes.
However, the judge refused, and has set a new court date for 8 May to continue the discussion.

Speaking about why the 52-year-old wanted the amount to be lowered, attorney Steve Greenberg reportedly told CBS: ‘If you can’t play a show, if you can’t go out on tour, if they’re not streaming your music anymore, obviously you’re going to have financial problems.
‘You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.’
‘I’m very tired of all the lies, I’ve been hearing and seeing things on the blogs,’ he insisted. ‘All of them [are lying].
‘That little girls trapped in the basement, helicopters over my house, handcuffing, starving people, I have a harem or cult. I don’t really know what a cult is but I know I don’t have one.
Addressing series Surviving R Kelly, which speaks to the women behind the claims, he added: ‘If you look at that documentary, everybody said something bad about me. They was describing Lucifer, I’m a man and make mistakes but I’m not the devil or a monster.
‘They are lying on me.’

Kylie has revealed some other options for Stormi’s name (Picture: @KylieJenner)
Kylie Jenner has revealed that her daughter ‘came up with her own name’, after little Stormi was originally going to sport the more traditional name of Rose.
The billionaire mother gave birth to Stormi Webster in February last year with boyfriend Travis Scott and has said the name ‘felt right’ – despite her earlier inclinations.
‘I felt it the whole time. Yeah, I feel like she chose her own name,’ Kylie said on Instagram today. ‘Pretty much, I wanted – I looked up names, and I saw Storm, and I really liked that. But I wanted her to have an ‘ie’ at the end of her name like me, Kylie and Stormie.
Such a smart baby (Picture: @KylieJenner)
‘So it was that at first, and I would just call her – when I was pregnant, I used to call her Stormi when I would talk to her in my belly. And it just always felt right’
The beauty entrepreneur then detailed she had ‘one more name’ that she liked.
In fact, as she added: ‘I had two names that I honestly liked better than Stormi but when I had her, I felt like she chose her own name. And I just couldn’t imagine any other name other than Stormi, so yeah.’
There was a time, however, when pregnant, that she rather liked the name Rose.
‘One name I will tell you guys, because I don’t think I’m ever going to name [any other] daughter this, but I wanted to name her Rose. I really liked that name,’ she said. ‘Shout out to everyone named Rose.’
Her sweet video about her daughter comes amid claims Ky is ‘back in touch’ with former BFF Jordyn Woods, after the model hooked up with Khloe Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson. You know, before he was an ex.
Reports says Kylie has been ‘torn’ over what to do in the fallout of the Tristan/Jordyn cheating saga and while it seemed like a reconciliation was totally off the cards, sources are suggesting the girls are slowly getting their friendship back on track.
A source told People: ‘Their friendship is not 100% over. She and Kylie aren’t socialising, but they are in contact. They are texting each other.’
‘It’s still a tricky situation for Kylie and no one is actually putting too much pressure on her,’ they added. ‘Her family is aware she is in contact with Jordyn and are letting Kylie figure things out for herself.’
Another insider told the publication they are ‘working on rebuilding their friendship’.

Things got intense on The Bachelor (Picture: Channel 5)
Things got seriously heated on The Bachelor as Robyn Tollady stormed out of the rose-giving ceremony, moments after Alex Marks decided to send her home.
And it was awkward.
The 31-year-old decided to take Alicia, Charlotte E and Charlotte T on the final trip to Antigua, leaving her to return to Liverpool solo.
His decision understandably left her upset – having introduced him to her friends and family in a hometown date just days before.

Robyn was left in tears on The Bachelor (Picture: Channel 5)
And also it means the 28-year-old misses out on a free holiday to actual paradise.
Cameras chased Robyn as she walked out of the ceremony, fuming to host Mark Wright: ‘How can he say what he’s said to me, been how he’s been, who does that?’
While Alex told the cameras: ‘As hard as it is, I know that it’s the right thing to do because, at the end of the day…
‘She’s just done so much for me…’
Things were a little more civil between the pair when they came face-to-face for the last time, with the singleton attempting to explain his decision.
Alex Marks was left emotional by his tough decision (Picture: Channel 5)
‘I’m sorry I can’t take you further,’ he told her. ‘I’ve known we have a connection, but I didn’t know how deep or how far it was going to go. That’s where I’m struggling to see passed.
‘I’m sure that I can see myself devoting more than a friendship from me to you.’
‘Good luck, I hope you find what you’re looking for,’ she told him.
Robyn’s departure means Alex is down to three lucky ladies in his quest to find love.
However, a teaser for tomorrow night’s episode shows he’s more confused than ever about who he wants to get to know better.
Who will he pick?
The Bachelor continues on weekdays, at 10pm, on Channel 5.

But, while the Riverdale star’s death certificate states he was laid to rest in Tennessee – at the Taylor Funeral Home – it has been claimed he was buried elsewhere.
And it’s thought his family will not disclose his final resting place, in a bid to keep it private.
But, despite the 18-year-old thanking fans for the ‘outpouring’ of love she has received following his death, she also revealed there were a few trolls clogging up her social media feeds.
‘Since my dad died I have received a lot of attention online. And most of it has been positive but of course, some people just can’t be nice,’ she began.
‘And I’m here to say that I did not ask for this attention, I did not ask to be thrown into some virtual spotlight, and while I don’t mean to offend anybody, I’m also not going to cater to any one else’s needs and beliefs.
‘I’m 18. I swear like a sailor and sometimes I dress like a hooker. And I support causes and you may not. And most importantly. I am going to laugh and smile and live my normal life. YES I am hurt and sad and crying and beside myself with what happened to my dad.’
‘It’s the worst thing to ever happen in my life. And I am torn the fuck up over it. But I’m not going to sit in my room and cry day in and day out until the internet has deemed it appropriate for me to do otherwise,’ she continued.
‘And if you knew my dad you would know he wouldn’t want me to. So you shouldn’t either.
‘So to those of you shaming me for my language and my wardrobe and most disgustingly, my grieving process, do us both the favour and just unfollow. It’s a waste of both of your time.’

Rosie O’Donnell claims her father sexually abused her when she was a child (Picture: FilmMagic)
Comedian Rosie O’Donnell has claimed she was sexually abused by her late father, Edward Joseph O’Donnell, when she was younger.
The 56-year-old makes the admission in a new book, Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View by Ramin Setoodeh, where she details her experience of abuse.
People reports that O’Donnell speaks about the alleged abuse by her father in the upcoming release, claiming it started when she was a child and ended shortly after her mother died.
O’Donnell says: ‘It started very young. And then when my mother died, it sort of ended in a weird way, because then he was with these five children to take care of.’
Rosie continues: ‘On the whole, it’s not something I like to talk about. Of course, it changes everyone.
‘Any child who is put in that position, especially by someone in the family, you feel completely powerless and stuck – because the person you would tell is the person doing it.’
Metro.co.uk have reached out to a rep for Rosie.

Rosie’s mother died, following a battle with breast cancer, when she was 11 years old. Her dad Edward passed away in 2015.
O’Donnell, who is known for being on US talk show The View, has openly spoken about her struggle with mental health and linked her battle with body image to suffering from sexual abuse in an interview on The Howard Stern show in 2017.
She said: ‘I think it’s just more of a disconnect. I think it’s what your body does to protect you if you’re a kid who’s sexually abused, which I was, you kind of disconnect from your body.
‘You dissociate, you don’t pay attention to it. You don’t want to love it, because it’s kind of betrayed you in some way.’
Spacey has denied the allegations and said he ‘cannot remember’ his encounter with Rapp.

However, he wanted more. The sweet taste of one win just isn’t enough for some.
So tonight he took to Twitter to show off what he’s been doing in the kitchen ever since gracing the baking tent for Celebrity Bake Off earlier this month.
Paul is famous for his handshakes (Picture: Rex Features)
‘Hollywood! I’ve been non stop mate – have a look at some of these beauties!!!’ he wrote, replying to Paul’s congratulatory tweet in his direction. ‘You should be shaking my hand till our wrists snap!!’
Seemingly impressed with Russell’s dedication to the kitchen after his Stand Up To Cancer episode of the Channel 4 show, Paul wrote: ‘I’m impressed R, virtual handshake.’
A thrilled Rusty replied: ‘Whilst still a baking novice I have received the top accolade available.
‘I am the M’bappe of baking. Alexander The Cake.’
Celebrations all ‘round, and tea at yours tomorrow, Russell?
It came after Russell’s interesting addition to the baking tent, after he decided to depict the birth of his second daughter, with a giant vagina in the centre and him standing to one side next to the placenta. All made in biscuits, of course.
Despite making less than he was meant to, and the fact his decoration was pretty sloppy, he was crowned the champion in the special episode because his ‘labia tasted amazing’.
Indeed.
He said: ‘I am genuinely thrilled to be adorned with this apron. I’m bang into this, man.
‘I’ll probably gonna wear it home. I shall wear this with nothing else on. This will be me now. I shall cultivate a look around this apron.’
Paul praised the comedian for his artsy approach.
He said: ‘That biscuit was perfect. What he did was a little bit of conceptual art.
‘It was very clever, it was very brave and tasted amazing.’

The reader talking about Borderlands and how its sense of humour is one of the best bits is dead on, and I think they’d be crazy to tone that down or get rid of it. But between that and the talk of Monkey Island recently it got me thinking about what has been the funniest game ever.
I’ve got a soft spot for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which is quietly hilarious all the way through (the less said about the sequels the better) and of course all the LucasArts games were very funny, as well as Psychonauts.
But I think the top two contenders are The Stanley Parable and Portal 1 and 2. Both of which have quite a lot in common actually, as they’re first person games with no shooting but an omnipresent voiceover trying to ruin your life. I think it’s got to go to Portal 2 in the end but interested in what other people think. Although the real take away is that there’s not nearly enough funny video games! Dalton
V Part 2
Just finished Devil May Cry 5 and wanted to say how much I enjoyed the whole thing. Probably my favourite of the series and not a sign of dumbing anything down to keep the mainstream onboard, really top work.
The best thing, or at least the best surprise, was definitely V though. An amazing new character that I loved to play as. GC were right that he almost unbalances the games because you don’t want to give up and be the others.
I would love to see him get his own spin-off now and expand on his gameplay further, get a much larger range of demons he can summon and have them upgradeable and maybe even evolve. Turn it into a kind of Shin Megami Tensei action game. Loved both this game and Resident Evil 2 this year and love that both show you can have the best of both worlds in terms of old school design and modern graphics and presentation. Thornberry Bill
Sony’s year off
Now that we’re inching closer to E3 (I assume you’re going as usual, GC?) I’m realising more what it means that Sony won’t be there. Are we really not going to get any updates on The Last Of Us Part II, Ghost Of Tsushima, or the other games this year? What about Dreams, which I thought was meant to be out relatively soon?
Surely they must be planning to host their own event, either the same week or just before or after. It just seems like giving Microsoft an open platform otherwise, where they can pretend that Sony are irrelevant because they’re not turning up.
Even if Microsoft don’t announce much do Sony really want to give them the opportunity? I suppose it doesn’t really matter. I own both consoles now so I’ve got no real horse in this race anymore but it just seems odd, and more glad than ever that Nintendo Directs are a thing as I wish that’s how the other two did their announcements as well. Chris Carter
GC: We will be going, yes. As for whether Sony will have its own event close to E3, there have been vague rumours but nothing substantial.
I consider myself an experienced gamer who has pretty decent and varied taste in games. I like a challenge and have battled through the likes of Bloodborne, recognising that its challenge is overcome through patience and skill.
So I don’t say this lightly, but Crash Bandicoot is quite frankly a terrible game. A game whose challenge relies on a poor sense of depth perception and whose gameplay is simplistic and repetitive.
I find it truly astounding how the remake has garnered so much acclaim considering the core gameplay hasn’t changed.
Never before has game angered me so much; not because I kept dying but because the game is poorly designed and the challenge is built around this.
Sorry for the moan but it really has annoyed me. John
Hard figures
For those interested in sales figures, after the Chart-Track ones for last week were leaked/given out, Devil May Cry 5 sold 116,202 copies to get to number one in Japan, compared to just 20,872 in the UK. Despite what you might think Devil May Cry isn’t especially popular in Japan, although the results were lower than the approximately 150,000 that some were hoping for.
As in the UK though it’s almost exactly the same as DmC: Devil May Cry, so probably about 20% more once you add digital. The PlayStation 2 original had the best opening for the series with 352,668 sales, although of course things were very different then.
Normally you expect to see any number one Japanese game sell at least 100,000 in a week, although that’s become less common as the years have gone by. I always find looking at the stats interesting as Media Create release all the figures for Japan every week and have done for years. Although sadly they may stop soon and make the information private like Chart-Track do. Statto
Offal and leftovers
I’ve noticed that a few video games, including new releases, end up with unused content that is on the disc but never comes to light or ever gets experienced by players. A few examples of this happening in the past are Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, Dead Rising 1 and a good amount of other games that have had this problem.
With newer games, I am not sure if this still happening. However, I’d love to see developers at least try to add this unused content in future DLC updates after the games are released so that extra stuff already included on the disc is available as people already paid for it when buying the disc or digital version of the game.
Another thing I’d love to see developers do is when releasing new DLC is to recycle unused content on the game disc which could be used to create extra maps, vehicles, and whatever the case may be. The modding community has done this before and demonstrated this can be done. It would be a great way for them to cut the amount of time it would take, as well as ensure any content they spent time working on but quickly cancelled would not actually be fully wasted.
It will be interesting to see if unused content reoccurs in the future and which developers will eventually decide to recycle unused content to create additional maps, vehicles, etc. or whatever the case may be with the specific game in question. gaz be rotten (gamertag)
GC: It’s just unfinished content left on the disc or purposefully cut from the final version. Just like a movie there’s a lot that’s left on the cutting room floor, often because it’s not up to the same standards as the rest of the game.
Anime or bust
I would absolutely love a Netflix style anime of Dark Souls and/or Bloodborne, much more than boring old Dragon’s Dogma. Now that it’s been suggested I’m kind of shocked it hasn’t already happened. Castlevania Netflix has been a revelation for me and much better than ever trying to make a game into a live action movie.
A live action Dark Souls, with people dressed up in the gear and everything would look ridiculous, and probably be really boring and pretentious, but an anime… that could afford to be super authentic and add a lot to the way people think about the series. Kinks12
Initially I was very excited to see The Messenger get a release date of 19 March for PlayStation 4. I’ve always loved a good Metroidvania and I believe this game played about with the formula a little. But then I remembered I was getting a little fatigued and irritated with the whole formula by the end of Hollow Knight. That and hard games in general, also competitive online games too.
I still really enjoy all of the above I just think, like open world games, you need to ration yourself otherwise they become a chore rather than a rewarding joy. I’ve some work colleagues who game and when thinking of something we could play together the Switch was a popular choice. I think we were all after a knockabout fun experience, rather than the high octane play of something like Apex Legends.
Regarding Metroidvanias and Metroid Prime 4 I hope Nintendo mix it up to the same degree as Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. Having Samus retain all her abilities and the entire game world explorable pretty much from the start sounds good.
Regarding, The Messenger how much of a traditional Metroidvania is it? I’ve purposefully kept myself in the dark about it to avoid spoilers. Game trailers seem to be becoming like movie trailers where they show way too much. I regret a little watching the recent launch trailer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Simundo Jones
GC: We haven’t played The Messenger, so we’ll be curious to see the PlayStation 4 version ourselves. Our understanding is that its biggest influence is Ninja Gaiden II (aka Shadow Warriors II) on the NES, and only becomes a Metroidvania later on.
Inbox also-rans
For anyone that got into the series with Monster Hunter: World it’s the series’ 15th anniversary this month. Just goes to show that it’s never too late for success (outside of Japan)! Solarax
Am I out of the loop for not knowing who Jade Raymond is? Her face is familiar but looking at her Wikipedia page it doesn’t seem like she’s done an awful lot beyond the first (rubbish) Assassin’s Creed. Kev
GC: She’s more a producer than a developer; she’s a well-known figure in the industry though and her appointment is a clear sign of how much Google is trying to make a splash in the games market.
This week’s Hot Topic
The subject for this weekend’s Inbox was suggested by reader Ishi, who asks what is your favourite video game soundtrack of the current generation?
That means anything on the Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, 3DS, or PS Vita – or any new PC game from early 2011 onwards. You can recommend a single song or a whole soundtrack, but we want to know what you think has been the best video game music for the modern formats?
What do you think of current trends in video game music and do you think this generation has been better or worse, in general, for video game music? And do you own any recent soundtracks separately, either as downloads or on CD or vinyl?
The small print New Inbox updates appear twice daily, every weekday morning and afternoon. Readers’ letters are used on merit and may be edited for length.
You can also submit your own 500 to 600-word 4Player viewer features at any time, which if used will be shown in the next available weekend slot.

One Piece: World Seeker (PS4) – something for the fans
The most ambitious One Piece game ever has amazing graphics and a brand new story, but will it appeal to non-fans?
According to the record books, One Piece has been the best-selling manga for the last 11 years in a row. That’s quite the achievement, and with the anime being similarly popular it’s no wonder protagonist Monkey D. Luffy was given centre stage, alongside representatives from Dragon Ball and Naruto, in recent manga crossover Jump Force. But while the other two have had their fair share of decent, and in some cases genuinely great, video game tie-ins, One Piece never really has. Which is the injustice World Seeker is attempting to set right.
The reason for the lack of notable games is fairly obvious. While Naruto is about ninjas and Dragon Ball features superhero-like martial artists One Piece is about pirates, with a more complicated set-up and a generally more humorous tone. That hasn’t stopped a number of fighting games and simple role-players but none of them have proven hits outside the One Piece fanbase and most had only limited releases in the West.
World Seeker is clearly aiming higher though, and relatively unusually for a Japanese game, especially a licensed one, it features a large(-ish) open world environment and some clear inspiration taken from Assassin’s Creed and other Western franchises. The graphics are often remarkably good and a lot of effort, and attention to fan detail, has clearly been expended on the whole project. The question is though, whether the One Piece connection enhances the experience or subtracts from it.
The gist of the franchise involves Monkey D. Luffy, and his band of privateers, searching for the titular One Piece treasure, that will allow him to become the pirate king. Having previously eaten a ‘devil fruit’ Luffy has the ability to stretch his limbs like Street Fighter’s Dhalsim, which makes him extremely durable in combat and gives him the ability to perform a wide variety of unlikely special moves, including many that work at a distance.
Not only are his rubberised limbs useful for fisticuffs but Luffy can also use them like a catapult and fire himself across the landscape like Just Cause. He can also spin his legs like a helicopter propeller, allowing him to hover in mid-air. Particularly in the more built-up areas, these traversal abilities prove strangely reminiscent of Marvel’s Spider-Man – although considerably less nuanced and flexible.
Unfortunately, that description goes for most of the mechanics, and while there are a lot of stealth missions you’re forced to take part in there’s a severe lack of dedicated stealth abilities – despite the fact you can lose instantly if you’re spotted.
The combat isn’t quite as underdeveloped, but although there are plenty of extra moves to unlock, from a fairly leafy skill tree, and two different stances to switch between, there’s still only one melee button. Thanks to this and the simplistic enemy artificial intelligence fights almost always devolve into simple button-mashing, with the only thing able to wake you out of the stupor of combat being a series of frustrating difficulty spikes whenever a boss comes along.
One Piece: World Seeker (PS4) – the graphics really can be very nice
The combat is something that developer Ganbarion really should have done better on but we’re less surprised to find that they’ve had trouble creating enough memorable missions, as that’s something even experienced open world creators can struggle with. Almost every mission in World Seeker revolves around simply going to a specific spot and beating up some enemies or collecting items or chests, something that gets so tedious it will quickly have you pinning for more forced stealth missions.
World Seeker’s plot revolves around Luffy being separated by his crew on the conveniently constrained Prison Island, which is in a constant state of unrest thanks to the occupying military forces and put-upon locals. Rather than adapting an arc from the anime it’s actually a completely new story written by series creator Eiichiro Oda, which together with the excellent cel-shaded graphics means this is one game that we can recommend solely as a piece of fan service.
However, many will likely be upset that so much emphasis is put on Luffy, with the rest of the Straw Hat Crew reduced to little more than cameos. Reuniting them always has some sort of benefit, and sometimes they come along with you on quests, both most of the time they’re just they’re to unlock things like an in-game shop or help with crafting.
It’s obvious that the developers have a great love for One Piece as a franchise, and they’ve clearly done their homework in terms of Western action adventures, but the two worlds have not come together in anything like a satisfying manner. Apart from anything else, everything always seems so long winded, from chests that take a good 10 seconds to open to mammoth load times and a lot of obvious filler content.
Despite the low bar we’re not even sure this is the best One Piece game, even if it is the most ambitious. But ambition doesn’t pay the rent and unless you are a seriously hardcore One Piece fan you’re better off seeking out just about any open world alternative.
One Piece: World Seeker
In Short: A loving piece of fan service that looks and sounds just like the anime, but unfortunately it plays like a bad Xbox 360 era open world game.
Pros: The graphics are great and One Piece fans will love the attention to detail and the all-new story by Eiichiro Oda.
Cons: One note (and one button) combat is extremely repetitive, with some nasty difficulty spikes. Mission design lacks variety and stealth is extremely basic. Poor pacing and long load times.

Brody Stevens cause of death has been confirmed as suicide (Picture: WireImage)
Stand-up comic Brody Stevens’ cause of death has been confirmed as suicide, according to reports.
The actor, who was known for appearing in The Hangover, died in February at his Los Angeles home, aged 48, with reports claiming at the time Stevens allegedly committed suicide.
TMZ reports that Brody’s cause of death has now been confirmed as suicide, with his struggle with mental illness being listed as a factor.
The publication claims to have obtained a copy of Stevens’ death certificate and states the document confirms his cause of death as ‘suicide by hanging’.
Stevens had publicly struggled with his mental health and was hospitalised in 2011 after suffering a bad episode related to his bipolar disorder.

In 2013, he united with Zach Galifianakis to create Comedy Central series Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! – the series focused on him putting his life back together after suffering a public breakdown.
His last public performance was at the Comedy Store on California’s Sunset Strip, just two days before his body was found.
Following news of his death last month, Brody was inundated with condolences from fellow stars, including Patton Oswalt who urged fans to speak up if they are struggling with their own mental health.

Commenting on Stevens’ passing, he wrote: ‘If you are depressed or feeling suicidal please please please please please reach out to ANYONE.
‘I never get to see Brody Stevens again I can’t stand this. #RIPBrodyStevens #818ForLife’
Comedian Nick Kroll, who worked with Brody on The Kroll Show, wrote: ‘#RIPBrodyStevens he was so funny and weird and vulnerable and wild and kind.
‘Every time he was onstage it was an adventure. Here’s some comics talking about what made him so special.’

Michael Jackson fans crowdfunded an advertising campaign for TFL in response to Leaving Neverland (Picture: AFP/Getty Images)
Transport For London (TFL) has confirmed they will be removing controversial adverts placed on London buses, in the wake of Leaving Neverland, claiming Michael Jackson’s innocence.
The adverts included an image of Jackson with the word ‘innocent’ across his mouth and the tagline: ‘Facts don’t lie. People do.’
The posters were put on London buses in response to the Leaving Neverland documentary that aired in the UK and the US, exploring claims made by Wade Robson and James Safechuck that accuse Michael of sexually abusing them when they were children.
The Michael Jackson estate and his family have denied the allegations and claim the documentary is ‘not true’. Jackson’s estate is suing HBO for $100million over the controversial doc.
Supporters of the Billie Jean hit-maker crowdfunded the money needed to fund the advertisements and secure their place across London buses and bus stops.

Speaking to BBC’s Newsbeat, TFL confirmed they will be removing the ads after concerns were raised by those affected by sexual assault, including victims themselves and charities helping those affected.
The Survivors Trust argued the adverts could ‘discourage victims of sexual assault form coming forward’.
‘We have reviewed our position and will be removing these advertisements,’ a spokesperson for TFL told the Radio 1 news programme.
‘They have been rejected due to the public sensitivity and concern around their content.’
The adverts were initially due to be displayed until 24 March.
Leaving Neverland has been divisive among viewers. While some were left ‘disturbed and uncomfortable’ by the graphic detail it goes into exploring Robson and Safechuck’s claims, MJ fans branded it ‘one-sided’.
Responding to one fan on Twitter who claimed her father’s ‘legacy’ has now been ‘ruined and his name smeared forever’, Paris said: ‘Yeah they do that to everyone with a good heart and tries to make a difference.
‘But do you really think that it’s possible to tear his name down? Like do you truly believe they stand a chance? Relax and have peace.’

Ant McPartlin has made a return to Twiter (Picture: Rex Features)
Ant McPartlin has finally made his way back onto Twitter and fans really can’t get enough.
The TV presenter took some time away from the spotlight and an extended break from TV last year to focus on his recovery, following a drink-drive incident in April.
Ant and Dec was divided into two, with Dec presenting Britain’s Got Talent solo and Holly Willoughby joining him for a guest presenting stint on I’m A Celebrity – replacing Ant for just one series.
With his work schedule picking up, it seems Ant is keen to get back onto social media too and he posted his first tweet in a pretty long while on Wednesday.
Choosing to shun an ‘I’M BACK’ post, Ant opted for a much more subtle return, wishing his friend Daniel Mays luck in his new film Fisherman’s Friends.
Ant tweeted: ‘Best of luck with the movie Kidda! Can’t wait to see it A.’
The ‘A’ was all fans needed and they were more than just a little bit excited to have him back on Twitter.
One fan commented: ‘Your back nice to see missed you, good to see you with Dec can’t wait for you on the tv.’
Another tweeted: ‘OMG!!!! Its Ant,’ while another said: ‘Dec was ok but he’s no antanddec… So pleased you are ok.’
Ant’s friend Daniel replied to his tweet and told him it was ‘fantastic to see him, happy, healthy and back on the box.’
‘Cheers Ant! Much appreciated mate. Can’t tell you how fantastic it is to see you healthy, happy and back on the box where you belong. You’re pure class my friend who’s been much missed! Best Wishes Dan,’ he posted.
Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia was holidaying on USC official’s yacht (Picture: FilmMagic)
Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia was on board a yacht belonging to USC official Rick Caruson when news broke of her mum’s alleged involvement in a college admissions bribe scam.
Both she and her husband Mossimo Giannulli were indicted for their alleged involvement in the college admissions scam.
TMZ reports that the couple’s 19-year-old daughter Olivia had been holidaying on Caruson’s yacht with his daughter and their friends in the Bahamas for Spring Break.
Caruson is the chairman of USC’s Board of Trustees. He told the publication that Olivia has now returned home, deciding to leave the group on hearing news of her parents being indicted.

He said: ‘My daughter and a group of students left for spring break prior to the government’s announcement yesterday. Once we became aware of the investigation, the young woman decided it would be in her best interests to return home.’
It’s reported Loughlin has been granted permission to travel to Vancouver to continue her working commitments with the Hallmark Channel, but she is required to surrender her passport in December once her contracted work has come to an end.
Loughlin’s husband Giannulli was arrested on Tuesday at their home and released from custody after being set the same bond. He was forced to surrender his passport.

Lori hadn’t been arrested as she was in Vancouver working and allegedly made prior arrangements with the FBI to surrender herself on her return to LA.
Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli allegedly agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 to get their two daughters onto the USC crew team.
Reports suggest that even though they did not participate, it ‘facilitated their admission to USC’.
Loughlin, Giannulli and Huffman are expected to appear in court in Boston on 29 March.
Metro.co.uk have reached out to reps for Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman.
