And Vorders blames the Kardashians for all the attention on her backside.
Speaking to The Telegraph, the former Countdown star said: ‘One of the sad things is that people think I am only ever talking about the way I look, when really it’s just what’s printed by the media.
‘It’s the Kardashians who’ve changed that. There’s no other content now.’
She added: ‘Social media and all of that, I can’t fight that battle now, so I just choose to pay no attention to it.’

Carol complained that not enough attention is shown to her work in education, saying: ‘I have my online maths school, I sell I-don’t-know-how-many education books a year for Dorling Kindersley.
‘But that never gets talked about. Instead it’s, “How big is her bottom?”‘
Remarking on the pictures, she told the Mail Online: ‘I’ve always had a huge a**e. I think it’s the high-waisted jeggings in the picture…give you a much more defined silhouette. Even I thought “blooming hell” when I saw some of those pics.
‘But I promise I haven’t had bottom implants. It’s the same old bottom. In my family, loads of us have it: the Vorderman A**e. My daughter Katie has it. My nephew has it. We’re all sticky-out-bottom people.’
Carol said her bum is a family trait (Picture: carolvorders/Twitter)
We’re sure the Kardashians can relate.
As well as being a total brainbox, successful businesswomen, writer and a boss in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, Vorders is an qualified pilot, having received her license in 2014.
The star planned to fly solo around the world, but delayed this plan due to the death of her mother.

Love Island’s Joe Garrett is officially over Lucie Donlan and has revealed that his new celeb status has made it easier for him to talk to women.
Speaking on This Morning, Joe said that he had been in touch with Lucie, but only for ‘little bits and bobs’.
He then assertively said: ‘We’re just friends, and we’re keeping it like that.’
Rochelle then declared that he had officially friend-zoned the surfer babe.
‘I think we’re just friends,’ he continued. ‘I always say never say never but for now, there’s nothing for the moment.’
Ben Shepherd then pushed him about how he feels about being wanted by women, to which Joe responded with a beam on his face and said: ‘Yeah it’s kind of weird, it is a crazy experience.’
Joe seemed more than chuffed after moving on from Lucie (Picture: ITV)
Joe left the series after viewers turned on him for ‘gaslighting’ Lucie for her friendship with Tommy Fury – only for Lucie to then admit he was right and she did have feelings for the boxer days after he left.
Despite promising to wait for her on the outside, Lucie later moved on again and briefly coupled up with George Rains in Casa Amor, before trying her luck with Tommy again.
Joe, Danny, Chris and Michael modelled new trunks on This Morning (Picture: ITV)
She was eventually dumped from the island and shortly after went on a filmed date with Joe for Aftersun, but it’s clear it didn’t work out.
On today’s This Morning, Joe joined in on modelling trunks with fellow former islanders Danny Williams, who is now official with Jourdan Riane; Michael Griffiths, who was playing it coy after being caught kissing Joanna Chimonides; and Chris Taylor, who hasn’t put a label on his romance with Harley Brash.
Just four days after the villa closed its gates for good, and the gang’s tasks and tribulations are still clearly far from over.
Welcome to your new reality, fellas.
Love Island is available to catch up on ITV Hub.

Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee have revealed their thoughts on the future of YouTube, with the former Strictly star refusing to ‘box himself in’ to one career.
‘I think it’s going to become more international, you’re going to see [people] get bigger and bigger,’ Caspar explained.
Referring to PewDiePie, he pointed out: ‘Can you imagine 10 years ago saying, “Someone’s going to have 90 million subscribers and they can make a video every day on their own and no one tells them what to do?”‘
YouTube faced backlash over Will Smith’s starring role in Rewind (Picture: YouTube)
Reassuring his pal, who earlier on claimed he had no singing and dancing talent, the 27-year-old said: ‘If you want to try and become a singer or a dancer, who’s to say you can’t do it, Caspar?’
Joe and Caspar don’t think YouTube’s going anywhere (Picture: Getty Images)
‘I was watching a video the other day that shows the last 10 years of YouTube and showing how the [most subscribed] channels have changed, and it was one time when like Smosh at the top and it just sees the general change over time, over the years,’ Joe said.
‘And T-Series comes in like this, out of nowhere. It’s so interesting to see how over time different things become popular. Algorithms are crazy!’
Caspar pointed out: ‘It also just shows how big YouTube is still going to become internationally, I mean that’s just one country that’s starting to use YouTube properly and [T-Series has] already become the biggest channel in the world.’
Proving Joe’s point, the pair spoke to us ahead of their animated movie Wonder Park, which follows a young girl who encounters a real version of her magical amusement park.
Wonder Park is available to Download and Keep on 5 August and on Blu-ray and DVD on 19 August.

ITV has released the voting stats for Love Island 2019, and the couple earned nearly double the votes of second place pairing Molly Mae and Tommy.
Amber and Greg received 48.82% of the final vote, while their nearest rivals racked up 25.56% of the vote.
That Newcastle-Ireland combo is an unbeatable force.
Molly-Mae and Tommy came second (Picture: Rex)
Despite being a fairly new couple, India Reynolds and Ovie Soko managed to receive over twice the votes of Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard, with the third place couple getting 18.21% of the vote.
Meanwhile, Maura and Curtis finished in fourth place with 7.40% of the final vote.
While Amber and Greg’s storm to victory and the £50,000 prize was impressive, they were outdone by 2018 champions Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer, who managed to rake in 79.66% of the public vote – with their closest rivals Laura Anderson and Paul Knops getting just 8.43%.
Let’s hope Amber, 21, and Greg, 24, outlast those two, though – not a single couple from the 2018 remains together.
They’ll only be reigning Love Island champs for a few months, though, as a winter version of the series has been confirmed for January 2020.
Singletons will be looking for love not in Lapland, but in South Africa, so bikinis and trunks will still be staples.
Meanwhile, we can see what the class of 2019 are up to on this weekend’s Love Island: The Reunion, which is on ITV2 on Sunday, 4 August.

Love Island’s Michael Griffiths was put in a super awkward position on This Morning as he was grilled about his romance with Joanna Chimonides.
Standing in just his trunks (to promote the best swimmers on the market), Rochelle Humes and Ben Shepherd grabbed him for a catch up about life since the villa.
Bringing up his potential reunion with Joanna, Ben bluntly asked Michael: ‘Is the Do Bits Society open for business?’ causing Michael to flounder.
‘We speak pretty much every day,’ he told the pair. ‘We haven’t really had much of a chance to see what’s going on.’
‘We’re not together, no,’ he confirmed. ‘We just haven’t really seen what’s going on there.’
Michael looked super uncomfortable as Ben Shepherd asked if he’d joined the Do Bits Society yet (Picture: ITV)
But seemingly heading in that direction, the fireman added: ‘I’ve got feelings for her, she’s got feelings for me, we just haven’t had a chance to speak it out.’
Chris Taylor, who also appeared in the segment alongside Michael, Danny Williams and Joe Garratt, said something similar.
Confirming he was at least still with Harley Brash, despite her being seen cuddling up to Anton on a night out, Chris added that they were at least still together.
‘We are still together, yeah,’ he confirmed. ‘We’re taking it at our own pace.’
Joe, Danny, Chris and Michael showed off a new trunks range on This Morning (Picture: ITV)
Chris then added: ‘Every time I speak about it, I get asked questions we haven’t discussed yet. So like, now we’ve had a chat about it, we’re moving at the pace that we would move at, regardless of the situation of people pushing it and stuff.
‘Obviously this is a real life situation.’
Love Island is available on catch-up via ITV Hub.

Love Island star Michael Griffiths might have been kissing Joanna Chimonides just a few days ago, but fans reckon his head could be turned again (Picture: Jourdan Riane/Instagram; ITV)
While the Scouser became good friends with fellow islander during their time in the villa together, fans are wondering if the firefighter might be keen to get to know Elma Pazar better now they’re out of the villa.
Michael raised eyebrows after leaving a flirty comment underneath a racy shot of Elma which saw her gazing seductively at the camera.
‘Jheeez girl stop it,’ he gushed alongside a flame emoji.
And fans soon accused Michael of having his head turned once again as one commented: ‘From one girl, to another.’
‘Cool off bro this is my one,’ another quipped.
Fans spotted Michael’s flirty comment under a sexy picture of Elma Pazar (Picture: Instagram/ elmapazar)
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk about the smooch, Michael said: ‘The pictures she’s talking about, we weren’t actually kissing. Then different pictures have come out which are quite undeniable.
‘We don’t really know where that’s going because obviously we still have feelings for each other and we can’t really turn that off.’
‘I like Joanna, I do like her,’ he went on. ‘But right now, we just want to see if we can have a conversation about things and move from there because we don’t actually know what’s going to happen.
The firefighter broke the nation’s heart when he dumped Amber Gill for Joanna (Picture: ITV)‘We don’t know what’s going on in each other’s lives, how busy we’re going to be, stuff like that. Right now we just want to sit down, away from everybody so it’s just me and her, and chat.’
‘Yeah, I am surprised,’ she explained. ‘To be fair I didn’t see much of their relationship because I avoided watching it and how they were but Michael definitely tried to get back with me so that’s a bit weird.’

Leilani Dowding has started shooting with the housewives (Pictures: Rex/Getty)
Ex-Miss GB and former Page 3 model Leilani Dowding has become the latest castmate of Real Housewives of Cheshire.
Leilani, 39, and her rockstar partner Billy Duffy from The Cult, will be heading to the new series after leaving their live in Los Angeles and coming to the UK.
The couple have been living over in the City of Stars for the past 15 years, and Leilani confirmed they are now back in the UK and already filming for the reality show.
‘We’ve decided to make Cheshire our home and we’re so excited to be back. When the opportunity arose to join The Real Housewives of Cheshire, I thought it would be so much fun, I jumped at the chance,’ she told The Sun.
The Cheshire Housewives are definitely not women to be messed with – so it’ll be interesting to see how Leilani gets on with Tanya Bardsley, Dawn Ward and Christine McGuinness.
While she and Billy aren’t married, Leilani has been married once before to restauranteur Richard Palmer, Raquel Welch’s ex-husband.
Billy will not be a regular feature on the show, as he focuses on working on his music in Manchester.
‘Leilani has signed on the bottom line and is officially a Real Housewife,’ a source added.
‘Everyone is so excited to have her join the show. She pulls no punches and will be a hit with men and women viewers.’
She seems to be fitting in just fine already, posting selfies of her with fellow co-stars Ester Dee and Hanna Miraftab.
Let’s see how much Leilani can shake up the show and Cheshire, shall we?
Real Housewives of Cheshire returns this Autumn on ITVBe.

Gemma Collins is the definition of extra. We know this.
The woman chose to shut off the hot water supply in the Celebrity Big Brother house so she could get an Essex blow dry. Her reality show is called Diva Forever. She publicly shamed Arg by telling him he would ‘never get this candy’.
But the GC has truly outdone herself, and we can only bow down.
The 38-year-old was pictured leaving BBC studios after recording a podcast in a neon pink gown with ruffles a-plenty, and we can only aspire to these levels of extra.
The former Towie star was serving equal parts Kendall Jenner in Giambatistta Valli x H&M and Killing Eve’s Villanelle as she left the studios in the dress, which featured an explosion of tulle on the sleeves and the ankle-length skirt.

Not a frock a shrinking violent could wear, but Gemma accessorised the dress with confidence in spades.
The former Dancing On Ice contestant didn’t stop her extra-ness with the dress, oh no.
Her divadom was upped even further as she was followed by a crew, who topped up her make-up and fixed her hair outside the studios.
Because beautifying yourself in the toilets is for commoners, dahling.
One staffer was also pictured swapping Gemma’s slippers for neon pink heels, because who can walk more than a few steps in stilettos?
We are living for this look (Picture: Timmie / SplashNews.com)
Gemma was recording a new podcast (Picture: Timmie / BACKGRID)
A source told The Sun: ‘She is absolutely over the moon to have done this deal with the BBC. She is such a huge character and the Beeb is really excited she has signed up.
‘Gemma knows what a huge deal it is to have got her foot in the door with the BBC so she is really investing in the podcast. It is a brilliant opportunity for her.’
The podcast will reportedly be made available through the BBC Sounds app and launch in two weeks time.
The star’s solo reality show Diva Forever also launches on ITVBe next week, with the GC letting the cameras follow her as she talks about everything from romance to Brexit.
Considering Gemma has already appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Celebrity Big Brother, Splash!, Dancing On Ice, Towie and Celebrity MasterChef, with a rumoured stint on Celebrity X Factor coming up, she could just be the busiest person in reality TV.

Anton Danyluk might have tried to crack on with Molly-Mae Hague at the start of Love Island but there is no love lost between the pair now (Picture: Rex Features)
They had one of the best bust-ups of the series during the first few weeks on Love Island, and it seems Anton Danyluk and Molly-Mae Hague never quite managed to patch things up.
Fans were quick to notice when Anton unfollowed the social media influencer on Instagram earlier this week, and now the Scottish gym owner has revealed the extremely frank reason why he chose to remove her from his feed.
‘When I was in the villa, I didn’t follow anyone, my management followed every islander. But on the outside, when I noticed Molly-Mae on my newsfeed, I unfollowed her,’ he explained to The Scottish Sun.
‘I have nothing against her, we just didn’t speak in the villa. We would be in the same room and wouldn’t say a word to each other.’
Anton added: ‘A lot of people think it’s because they voted us out but that’s nothing to do with it, we just never got on.’
Indeed, the pair failed to bond after Molly-Mae was playing the field with Anton and Danny Williams while coupled up with Tommy Fury.
Anton says his decision to unfollow Molly-Mae in Instagram had nothing to do with her voting for him and Belle Hassan to leave the villa (Picture: Rex Features)
But Anton called the 20-year-old out when she declared her feelings for Tommy, due to the fact Maura Higgins had tried to seduce Tommy away from Molly-Mae.
Anton confirmed that the pair never managed to build a friendship after the spat and didn’t bother to chat with each other in the villa.
Anton and Belle Hassan were sent packing just one day before the live final – while Molly-Mae and Tommy came second to Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.
Love Island: The Reunion is airing on Sunday at 9pm on ITV2.

Strictly Come Dancing’s line-up have superhero code names (Picture: Rex; Zuma/PA; Getty)
Strictly Come Dancing has been gradually revealing the contestants for this year’s series, but their superhero code names could hint to who else is on the line-up.
BBC sports presenter Mike Bushell became the latest addition to the line-up, joining the likes of David James, Emma Barton, Catherine Tyldesley, Saffron Barker, and Chris Ramsey.
Each year producers keep the line-up secret by applying code names to each contestant, with different types of cheese and ancient Gods being used to hide their identities.
It’s been confirmed superheroes are the theme for this year’s code names, with Banana-Man used for comedian Chris, shape-shifting Mystique used for actress Emma, and The Hulk to describe the supremely tall David James.
Other superhero code names (via Hello!) were previously claimed to include Batman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Catwoman, and Captain America.
So who could the others apply to? As probably the youngest on the line-up, it’s likely 19-year-old Saffron was assigned Supergirl.
Considering none of the above apply to the recently announced Mike Bushell, and he achieved viral fame after tumbling into a pool live on air, he may have been given the Aquaman moniker.
Anneka Rice is strongly rumoured to have signed up for this year’s series, who could fit the Wonder Woman moniker.
Michelle Visage, Catwoman or Captain America? (Picture: Vincent Sandoval/WireImage)
Batman and Catwoman are slightly harder to pinpoint, but could the show tenuously link Bruce Wayne’s inherited wealth to Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing as heir to the McVitie’s biscuit empire? It’s bold, but we like it.
Considering there’s 15 celebrities in total on the Strictly line-up, there’s a bunch of superhero code names we don’t know about too. So let the guessing games begin for a potential Ant-Man…
Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One.
The Outer Worlds are not a place for the faint-hearted. Colonised by heartless corporations and their sycophantic lackeys, and infested with ferocious mantisaurs, raptidons, and heavily armed marauders – the latter a sort of Mad Max-ish wasteland inhabitant – the Halcyon system is a brutal frontier land in space. You’re new in town and will need to acclimatise in a hurry.
After a solid showing at E3, The Outer Worlds is in its final months of development, making this a fascinating moment to give it a spin. We started from a save point a few hours into the game to best sample the delights of its Wild West-flavoured space opera. Beginning in a brightly coloured wilderness of radioactive swamps, glowing sulphur pools, poisonous plants, and howling local fauna, we started by making our way towards the well signposted local town of Stellar Bay.
One of the first things you notice when wandering the beautiful but deadly landscapes is that you’re not alone, but have two companions with you. Although they’re computer-controlled, they’re also persistent, allowing you to crew your spaceship and also giving you a range of different options as you go about completing quests and solving problems for Halcyon’s inhabitants. You’re perfectly welcome to use the game’s noisy, precise-feeling gunplay and handy bullet time effect to straighten out messes, but there’s always another way.
‘Companions are wonderful because they give the player a connection to the world that as a newcomer you wouldn’t necessarily have. They’re characters who grow and journey with you and have their own arcs alongside yours’, senior narrative designer Carrie Patel told us.
This was a feature noticeable in even throwaway conversations, where they would chip in with pieces of local knowledge or indeed just to have their say. ‘All of them have joined you because for some reason or another they don’t really fit in the world, so they’re outsiders sort of like you are’, explains Patel.
As well as crewing your ship with a Firefly-esque band of misfits, companions also open up new ways of completing quests and objectives. Senior designer Brian Heins described how that works: ‘They have things like engineering, lock-picking, hacking, so all of those can contribute to your ability to explore areas… you’ll see some options where there’s a silhouette of a character next to a response. That’s showing that you wouldn’t have been able to meet that requirement yourself, but your companion is helping you to do that.’
Roaming the wasteland with our companions gamely helping to gun down marauders and local predators, there were plenty of settlements to explore, both large and small. As well as having their own distinct character, they all had a dusty, Western frontier town feel, where law and order is only a thin veneer on a rampaging lawlessness just underneath. They’re also all nicely weathered, the buildings dilapidated, strange mushrooms sprouting between paving stones.
The Outer Worlds – like Fallout but with a proper sense of humour
As we entered Stellar Bay we were immediately waylaid by a distraught mother who’d lost her son in the wasteland. After a quick chat we were off following a lead to a nearby town where the little fellow might have wandered, picking off raptidons and a checkpoint manned by gun-toting marauders along the way. On arrival though, we discover the town under the control of the Iconoclasts, a religious cult run in opposition to the rigorously commercial interests of absolutely everything else in the system.
When we do finally catch up with our target, he turns out to be a 42-year-old man desperately trying to escape the clutches of his overbearing mother. Your possible courses of action, depending on your character’s skills and those of your companions, include persuading him to return anyway, intimidating him into it, shooting him and bringing back his body, or faking his death in order to finally get his mum off his back. It’s also important to note that all those choices are delivered with darkly witty dialogue that enables you to role-play a character who’s friendly, or a little bit more mordant.
As Carrie Patel says, ‘With any of these options we don’t want to punish the player for picking them, we want any kind of role-playing we’re offering you to be rewarded with something interesting and fun, so you’re not going to lose out on quest content just by being cheeky a lot.’ That’s not to say you can just go around shooting everyone though. ‘If you decide to prematurely attack someone that might change the way the quest goes, but those options are very clearly flagged’, adds Patel.
In this case we opt for the non-violent approach of faking the man’s death, bringing his father’s signet ring back to Stellar Bay as sad final proof of his demise. His angrily tearful mother eventually accepts her son is gone, grudgingly issues a reward, and before we know it we’ve discovered a dead body in a nearby rundown block of flats, and have become the lynchpin in the ensuing murder investigation.
Another feature of the game we were keen to unravel was that as well as acquiring perks, The Outer Worlds has a surprise up its sleeve: character flaws. These are triggered when your hero or heroine repeatedly takes a certain type of damage or falls prey to a particular beast. The game monitors your progress and when you meet certain criteria it may decide to offer you a character flaw.
According to Brian Heins this isn’t all bad: ‘[if you] choose to take it, you also get a perk that you can purchase for your character, so by making yourself a little bit weaker, you can also make yourself stronger in a different area, and that allows you to develop your character in ways you wouldn’t always see in a straight progression system.’ It’s a perfect match for the tone of the game, which steadfastly refuses to be either cheerful or downbeat, instead charting an unusual path between the two.
Currying favour with various factions, helping corporations or supporting the Iconoclasts, and which quests you decide to complete and for whom all have an impact on the story, as do the conversational choices you take, giving proceedings an unusually weighty sense of consequence, a feeling that’s underlined by the broad range of options available at any given moment. It’s inspiringly reminiscent of the earlier Fallout instalments that its director, Tim Cain and creative partner, Leonard Boyarsky also worked on.
With less than three months before release, it’s likely that the final game is going to look, sound, and play very much as it did this week. On the basis of this brief play through, there’s a massive amount to look forward to, and, potentially, an extremely wide variety of experiences available for different players exploring the Halcyon system in their own ways.

The original The Lion King animators are not happy (Picture: Disney)
The 2019 reboot of The Lion King may have been a hit with film fans, bringing in $963 million globally in two weeks, but that doesn’t mean everyone is happy with it.
In fact, some of the original animators of the 1994 classic have hit out at Disney and suggested that it is now stockholders who are deciding what movies are made – and called performances by the likes of Donald Glover and Beyonce ‘weak’.
‘If you polled the crew of the original Lion King, most of them would say, “Why? Did you really have to do that?” It kind of hurts,’ said David Stephan, one of the original animators on the 1994 animated film about a young lion cub’s exile from Pride Rock when his father is murdered.
‘It’s sort of sad that the stockholder is now in the room deciding what movies get made,’ Stephan added.
‘Disney’s now taken the cover off, and it’s now in your face: “Yeah, we just want to make money.” That’s disappointing as an artist, from a studio that was founded on originality and art.’
Performances by the likes of Donald Glover and Beyonce were branded ‘weak’ (Picture: Disney)
Alexander Williams and Dave Bossert, who designed Scar and did visual effects, praised the movie.
‘Overall, I thought the film stands on its own. It not only showcases a great story again, but it’s an homage to the original film,” Bossert told HuffPost.
‘Don’t forget, at the time of The Lion King, there was groundbreaking digital animation going on. The wildebeests, for example, were all computer-generated, and that was considered very radical and advanced for its time,’ added Williams.

Lewis made the romance offish (Picture: Instagram)
Celeb relationships are no longer legit until they have gone Instagram official.
And it looks like Caroline Flack and Lewis Burton are taking that step – the 2019 equivalent of having each other in their MySpace top eight, which is nearly marriage, tbh.
Lewis, 27, posted a photo from the poolside as he reclined shirtless on a day bed, with Caroline, 39, leaning over him to plant a kiss on his cheek.
Caroline was wearing a hat and sunglasses in the snap, but seemed like the cat who got the cream, with Lewis captioning the pic: ‘Self confessed @carolineflack.’
Caroline split from Danny Cipriani earlier this year (Picture: Zed Jameson / BACKGRID)
This status signal comes after the pair were pictured looking all kinds of cosy at O Beach Ibiza.
A source told The Sun last week: ‘Caroline and Lewis were introduced through mutual friends and have really hit it off. They’ve been on several dates now and are getting on really well.
Lewis is a model and former professional tennis player (Picture: Professional Sport/Popperfoto via Getty Images/Getty Images)
‘Lewis has been a true gent to Caroline and has patiently waited to see her.’
The insider added: ‘She has been jetting back and forth between London and Mallorca as she juggles her presenting commitments but they have been spending time together when they can.’
Lewis was a successful tennis star, even playing doubles at Wimbledon in 2013, but has since branched into modelling, and is signed by Select Model Management.
Burton is the first guy Caroline has been linked to since her brief fling with Danny Cipriani ended, as the TV presenter confirmed she was ‘dating’ following her split last year from fiance Andrew Brady.
She told OK! magazine: ‘I’m dating. Even though I’ve had ups and downs in my love life, I do still adore love.’
The former X Factor star has previously been linked to Harry Styles, Prince Harry and Jack Street.

The Man Who Fell To Earth starred David Bowie as an alien looking to save his home planet (Picture: Rex)
David Bowie’s cult hit movie The Man Who Fell To Earth is being given a TV reboot in the US.
CBS All Access, home to shows including the new Star Trek instalments Picard and Discovery, will be giving the 1976 film a new lease of life.
The story follows an alien, who appears physically human, arriving on Earth at a turning point in human evolution.
In the film, his mission on Earth is to bring water back to his home, where his wife and family are suffering from the drought ravaging their planet.
Adapting to his new surroundings, the alien must also confront his new past to determine his future.
Announcing the move at the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles, showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet said in a statement: ‘Walter Tevis’ visionary novel gave us a tech god Willy Wonka from another planet, brought to life by David Bowie’s legendary performance, that foretold Steve Jobs’ and Elon Musk’s impacts on our world.
‘The series will imagine the next step in our evolution, seen through the eyes of an alien who must learn what it means to become human, even as he fights for the survival of his species.’
CBS will be making the series in connection with Tandem Productions and StudioCanal, who own the rights to both the Bowie movie, and the book that it is based off by Walter Tevis.
While the news may cause mixed reaction from fans, network bosses have assured that they’re not planning to surpass what Bowie created.
David Stapf, President, CBS Television Studios, said of the project: ‘I’ve been a fan of this extraordinary film starring David Bowie for years.
‘While no one can ever hope to surpass Bowie, bringing the film to series will allow for an ongoing detailed and nuanced exploration of the concepts established in the novel.’

Christopher has never been one to play by the rules (Picture: Tony Barson/FilmMagic)
Christopher Nolan sneakily shared the trailer for his new film Tenet with unsuspecting cinema goers in the States – but you can’t see it yet.
The 49-year-old director, who is best known for writing and directing dramatic epics including Inception and Dunkirk, treated fans watching Hobbs and Shaw on its opening night with a mysterious 40 second teaser for his next project.
While the trailer is yet to officially drop online, social media reports say that the trailer only features BlacKkKlansman actor John David Washington, who is seen inspecting a number of bullet holes in shattered glass.
The trailer also shows scenes of violence, with John’s character fighting and being restrained alongside shots of riot police with helmets and shields.
While the trailer doesn’t give much away in terms of Tenet’s plot, the words ‘time has come for a new protagonist’ and ‘time has come for a new kind of mission’ appear on the screen, suggesting that the action thriller may follow in the footsteps of the critically lauded Inception and feature a time-bending element.
Now that’s a good looking cast (Picture: REX)
Set in the world of international espionage, John David Washington is joined by an incredible cast including Robert Pattinson, Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nolan’s long term collaborator Michael Caine.
With Tenet expected to replicate the critical and commercial successes achieved by Christopher’s previous films, the director has been given big bucks to play with.
In fact, it was reported in June that the film, which has shot in seven countries and is reported to be ‘the length of three movies’, has a budget of £177 million, making it one of the most expensive original films of all time.
The 32 year old told USA Today: ‘I got locked in a room to read the script – I don’t have it myself.’
However, the actor ensured fans that it was all going to be worth the hype.
‘I read the script and it’s unreal,’ he said.
At the length of three films, unreal definitely sounds like the right word…

The Kinks’ star Ian Gibbons (centre) passed away at home on Thursday (Picture: Rex)
The Kinks star Ian Gibbons has died aged 67.
Ian’s death has been confirmed by his former bandmates, who praised him for his ‘positive attitude’ in a series of separate statements.
He passed away at his home on Thursday.
The musician and keyboardist was in the iconic band from 1979 to 1996.
Frontman of the band Sir Ray Davies led the condolences and said: ‘To simply say Ian will be missed would be an understatement. My first thoughts are for his family and loved ones.’
‘Ray called me this morning to break the news,’ Dave Davies said on an Instagram post of the group, in which he has put a heart around Ian’s face.
Drummer Mick Avory added: ‘I’ve known and worked with Ian for 40 years and I shall always remember him as a good friend and great musician. I will miss him so much, especially as we were still working together.
‘It’s so sad he had to go so quickly before anyone could say goodbye.’
Ian’s death is currently unknown.
The performer was a late addition to the iconic British group, whose songs Waterloo Sunset, You Really Got Me and Sunny Afternoon are still played regularly on TV and radio to this day.
Speaking about Ian and how he joined the band, Sir Ray told PA: ‘When he auditioned for the band, he only played a few chords before I knew he was the right guy to have on keyboard – he seemed to know the right voicing to musically slot in between the other members of the band. And with The Kinks that took some doing!
‘He was also was a brilliant accordion player and, apparently, a bit of a childhood prodigy on that instrument. In the studio, he would willingly try out the most random musical idea I would throw at him.’
‘On the road, he could always be guaranteed to give a smile of encouragement from his side of the stage and buy a round in the bar after the show so we could have a party in Ian’s noisy room,’ the frontman added.
‘Being in a band is like being in a family and today it is as though we have lost family member.’
After leaving the band, Ian later joined the Kast Off Kinks, a Kinks cover band made up of former members of the actual Kinks.
The Kinks officially broke up in 1996, and since then every member of the band, including Sir Ray Davies, has performed with them.
Their music has gone down as one of the defining sounds of the flower power generation, and has since been made into a musical, Sunny Afternoon, by the Davies brothers.
In 2018, Ray and Dave Davies announced their intention to try and reform the band.

Saffron was ‘distraught’ after the band split (Pictures: Rex/Youtube)
Strictly Come Dancing’s Saffron Barker has revealed that her YouTube career stemmed from a heartbreaking split from her girl band, BORN2BLUSH.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk at VidCon London about her origins on YouTube, the 19-year-old explained that her parents ‘pushed her to start’ when the band broke up.
‘I used to be in a girl band back in the day and then once we broke up – my mum, she would travel with me everyday to the recording studio – as soon as that stopped, I only ever pictured myself as being a singer or entertaining other people,’ Saffron recalled.
‘There wasn’t anywhere else I pictured myself being. I’ve never been academic or anything, I’m really dyslexic, I just didn’t like school or anything.
‘As soon as we broke up, I was distraught, like crying my eyes out, my parents cried, it was such a big thing.’
The YouTube star continued: ‘I wanted to do [YouTube] but saying it and actually doing it are different things. They were like, “If you want to do it, do it”. Because of that, they bought me a camera, because I was so upset about what had happened and they were…behind me all the way.’
Saffron explained: ‘I didn’t realise it was going to be my job, I just wanted to do it for fun, because I just wanted to do something to take my mind off us breaking up and I wanted to entertain other people.’
BORN2BLUSH, which featured Saffron alongside her friends Libby Whitehouse, Jazmine Tiley and Georgia McNamara, released their debut single 24seven and a cover of Uptown Funk in 2015, both of which are still on the band’s YouTube channel.
The band split up soon afterwards, when Saffron was 15.

Since, Saffron, who’s following in fellow YouTube star Joe Sugg’s footsteps on Strictly, has built a following of more than two million on YouTube.
Nevertheless, the star is hyped for her appearance, telling Heart FM: ‘I am really excited to go on the Strictly journey and am feeling very grateful for the opportunity!
‘I’m looking forward to learning all of the dances, finding out who my partner is, getting to wear the costumes and to just experience this once in a lifetime opportunity.’

The singer, who appears on new hit single Senorita with Camila, told fans that they need to know when to take a break from their phones.
When asked about social media at a pre-concert Q&A in Atlanta, Shawn said: ‘I struggle with social media a lot.’
He continued: ‘To be honest with you guys, I deleted Instagram and Twitter three days ago, but I send my manager pictures and I’m like, ‘Can you post this.’
The 20-year-old pop star, who has more than 49 million followers on Instagram, spoke about the negative impact social media can have on mental health and preached the importance of giving it a rest to his young fans.

‘Sometimes I need to take a break from it too because it gets to me just as much as it gets to anyone else,’ he added.
‘You have to take care of yourself, it’s really really important. Make yourself come first.’
As many girlfriends of teen heartthrobs can tell you, dating a star as big as Shawn can bring in a lot of hate, but it was actually Camila who had to beg her 37 million Instagram followers to calm down with the negativity.
‘To my fans, if you really love me, please do not send people I love and care about hateful things,’ she wrote on her Instagram Story.
‘You doing that really hurts me, and it’s so unnecessary and heavy and damaging to add more pain to pain. There’s a real person behind your tweets. You spamming them with hateful, insensitive things is really not funny, is causing all of us pain, and doesn’t all reflect the values I talk about.’
