A$AP Rocky has broken his silence after being released from prison in Sweden, amid his assault case.

Taking to Instagram, the 30-year-old took a second to thank his fans for all their help, following his arrest.

Alongside a close-up snap, the Praise The Lord rapper told his 10.7million followers: ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks.

‘I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you. This has been a very difficult and humbling experience.

‘I want to thank the court for allowing me Bladi and Thoto to return to our family and friends. Thanks again for all of the love and support.’

A string of famous faces rushed to celebrate his freedom, sliding into the comments of his post.

‘Continued blessings and favour,’ Pharrell wrote, while Big Sean said: ‘God Bless you bro!’

‘Come home to your family brotha,’ The Rock added.

A$AP – real name Rakim Mayers – had been detained since 3 July along with two members of his entourage, in connection with a physical fight in Stockholm on 30 June.

He was allegedly involved in a street brawl, but has denied all allegations, insisting he was acting in self-defence and claiming the men had been following him beforehand.

He is now free to head back to America while he awaits the verdict, which is due to happen on 14 August.

According to TMZ, the announcement the L$D star would be freed was met by cheers from onlookers – with the other two defendants also free to leave.

Speaking in a press conference after his release, his lawyer said: ‘I want to let you know this is a great day for Rocky, Vladimir and David.

‘I had a chance to visit them while they were in jail. They showed a lot of grace and dignity. Those of you who watched the trial saw that, saw their demeanour in court, saw how well they
performed under very trying circumstances over the past month. I’m proud of all three of them.

US President Donald Trump
Donald Trump was the first to celebrate the news (Picture: AFP)

‘I just got off the phone with the President of the United States and let him know the men are coming home and will be back in America soon. He’s quite pleased with that result.

‘He’s very pleased they’re home.’

‘Tonight was a great night for Rocky, David and Vladimir, a wonderful night for their families who are reunited now with their sons,’ he added.

‘It’s a very good night for the United States of America, and for the Kingdom of Sweden.’

And President Donald Trump – who previously pleaded with officials in Sweden to set Rocky free – was the first to celebrate the news.

Taking to Twitter, he posted: ‘A$AP Rocky released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden.

‘It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!’

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury haven’t split so we can all calm down (Picture: Rex)

Love Island’s Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague have finally been seen together, after they returned home from the villa.

The pair – who finished the ITV2 dating show in second place to Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea – sparked split rumours just hours after their homecoming, as they failed to share photos of one another on social media.

But we can all calm down as the couple made their first public appearance together, heading to the gym.

Yes, seriously.

While their co-stars have been living their best lives at swanky bars, 19-year-old Molly-Mae and Tommy, 20, got straight back into daily life.

Taking to Instagram, boxer Luke Evans shared a snap of himself, sandwiched between the reality stars as they popped in for a work-out.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B0qml2Igzyt/

And it seems Tommy wasted no time getting into the ring himself, posing as he rocked a huge boxing glove.

Tolly – it works – have yet to post an update on their own Instagram pages, but fans were clearly thrilled to see them together.

‘So glad to see they’re together,’ an impressed follower posted, while many more followed suit.

The couple were faced with more than a few ‘fake’ claims, following their time on Love Island – something Molly-Mae hit out at on many occasions.

But their radio silence on their return home had people convinced they had already split.

One baffled Twitter user commented: ‘Been checking Tommy and Molly-Mae’s Instagram like every ten minutes to check if they’ve posted anything I’m so confused as to why they haven’t because everyone else has!!!!!!! [sic]’

While another concerned fan said: ‘Is anyone else worried that @tommytntfury and @mollymaehague haven’t posted anything on social media yet :/ I really hope they’re okay #LoveIsland still think that they deserved it more [sic].’

‘Anyone else think it’s sorta weird that Molly-Mae & Tommy havent posted a single thing on their instagram stories?madness [sic],’ a follower speculated.

But it looks like they are happier than ever, so we can take a deep breath – for Elly-Belly’s sake.

The Love Island Aftersun reunion airs on Sunday, at 9pm, on ITV2.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend Camila Morrone confuses Josh Lucas for Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s response is epic

Camila Morrone appeared to mistake Josh Lucas for Sacha Baron Cohen

Everyone’s made an embarrassing faux pas on social media before, but most of us don’t do it in front of 1.8 million followers, like Camila Morrone just did when she mistook actor Josh Lucas for Sacha Baron Cohen.

Camila, 22, who’s dating 44-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio, posted a photo of herself on Instagram at the podium of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Grants Banquet this week, captioned: ‘I’m really good at keeping my cool.

‘@islafisher I am an embarrassing fan of your husband, what can I say!!’

Slight problem… that man is definitely not Isla Fisher’s husband.

The Wedding Crashers star, 43, took to the comments to confirm the man in the photo had no resemblance to Sacha Baron Cohen, writing: ‘That’s not my husband?’.

In fact, the man standing next to the model is Josh Lucas – you may remember him from the likes of Sweet Home Alabama.

Josh has definitely never played the role of Borat or Ali G. We’re unable to confirm whether or not he has ever worn a green mankini.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B0qzSobpAKo/

Isla fisher comment
Well this is awkward… (Picture: Instagram)

We’re not really sure how you could mix the two men up, but we’re relieved to know Isla has no problems differentiating between her husband and Josh.

Thankfully it seems the mix-up happened because Camila was alluding to a moment where she and Josh were talking about Sacha introducing her to the stage.

A fan commented: ‘Precisely in that moment Josh Lucas and her were talking about your husband and how cool it was that Camila spoke just after him.

‘Of course she knows who your husband is!’

Camila has yet to make the post less ambiguous, and hasn’t replied to people telling her about the mix-up. D’oh!

Curtis Pritchard has been welcomed into the Higgins family with open arms after Maura’s mum Sharon gave the ballroom dancer her seal of approval.

The Love Island finalists made their first trip back to Ballymahon, where the dancer made quite the impression on the Irish model’s family.

Sharing a picture with her daughter and her new beau on Instagram, Sharon wrote: ‘Finally got to hug these two yesterday. Have missed my baby girl @maurahiggins so much.’

The wildlife photographer had nothing but good things to say about the 23-year-old, adding: ‘After finally talking with @curtispritchard12 .. can say he is a lovely lad. It was a pleasure to talk to him and I’m so proud of them both.’

Clearly smitten with Curtis, Sharon shared another sweet snap to her Instagram Story with him.

‘Delighted to welcome @curtispritchard12 yesterday,’ she wrote, ‘our smiles say it all.’

It’s been a jam-packed few days for Curtis and Maura, who’ve been celebrating with family, doing interviews and filming for Monday’s reunion episode ever since they landed back on home soil.

Maura may have only been off our screens for a few days but it seems like fans are desperate to see more of our favourite straight talking Irish gal and have been  petitioning ITV to get Maura on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Curtis, on the other hand, has been catching up with his brother and fellow dancer AJ Pritchard ahead of the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Taking to Instagram, the 23 year old shared a selfie with his sibling, writing: ‘So surreal being back home in England and seeing my brother @aj11ace after over two months, finally reunited!’

However, Curtis showed that things were still going well with Maura, adding: ‘but I am missing @MauraHiggins’ to his Instagram Story along with a crying emoji.

Ireland to London may not be that far, but we really see these two going the distance.

The robbery comes as the family is still mourning Beth, who passed away in Hawaii after battling cancer.

Speaking at her memorial service: ‘I cannot believe that she’s gone. This is not possible.

‘I want to wake up from a dream. In the 70s, I did 18 months in a Texas penitentiary – and I told God yesterday I’d do 5 years, 10 years just to kiss her again.’

He added: ‘I still haven’t let her go. Beth will never be dead to me – she is just in another place.

‘Everything she taught me, I’m going to get to Heaven. I am going to make her so proud.’

They spent weeks together in the Love Island villa, and Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins just can’t cope with being apart in the real world.

The professional ballroom dancer, 23, made his feelings very clear for everyone’s favourite grid girl, 28, on the old Instagram on Friday.

He shared a cute shot of the genetically-gifted pair kissing on his Instagram Stories and wrote: ‘Missing you.’

Maura replied with her own sweet snap of Curtis holding a pint of Guinness (of course), which she captioned: ‘Not long now till you’re back by my side.’

And Curtis, the absolute rascal, then shared that same photo with the words, ‘so excited’.

Are you even dating if you don’t post about it on social media?

No, is the answer. And now that there’s an hour-long Love Island shaped hole in our lives, we’ll have to make do with these little exchanges to satisfy our cravings.

The finalists’ cute social media affection comes after Curtis got the seal of approval from Maura’s mum Sharon.

The couple made their first trip back to Ballymahon, where the dancer made quite the impression on the Irish model’s family.

Sharing a picture with her daughter and her new beau on Instagram, Sharon wrote: ‘Finally got to hug these two yesterday. Have missed my baby girl @maurahiggins so much.’

The wildlife photographer added: ‘After finally talking with @curtispritchard12 .. can say he is a lovely lad. It was a pleasure to talk to him and I’m so proud of them both.’

And it’s not just Curtis who’s working his charm on the relatives, as Maura recently met her man’s older brother AJ via FaceTime.

Maura and Curtis finished fourth on Love Island, with India and Ovie coming in third place and Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea beating runner-ups Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury to the crown.

Since returning to the UK, Maura has been tipped for I’m A Celebrity later this year and we’re crossing our fingers and toes for it to actually happen.

David Schwimmer pours ice cold water on Friends reunion plans and our hearts are broken

Friends reunion is not happening
Friends fans have been begging for a reunion for years (Picture: NBC)

Friends fans have been hoping for a surprise reunion ever since the credits rolled on the last episode, back in 2004.

But David Schwimmer has poured ice cold water over any speculation, once and for all.

During an appearance on The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan, the host asked the question on all our lips.

Namely ‘is there going to be a reunion?’

‘Well, no. I mean…. No,’ the 52-year-old – who starred as Ross Gellar – replied.

‘I think we all feel it ended in the perfect way.’

David Schwimmer on Friends reunion plans

David isn’t the only member of the cast who thinks we should leave the sitcom where it ended, as Matt Le Blanc agreed.

The Joey Tribbiani actor told Femail Magazine last year: ‘I don’t want to do it – simple.

‘People want to know what happened to them. But it was about a finite period in a person’s life after college, before you settle down and start a family.

‘To go back and revisit all these years later, well I don’t know what the story would be now. They would all have moved on from that period so it just wouldn’t be the same.’

Friends cast
We miss Friends so much. (Picture: Getty)

But Adam Sandler is begging the Central Perk gang to reconsider.

After starring alongside Jennifer Aniston in Netflix’s Murder Mystery, he added to People: ‘Friends was a powerhouse.

‘Everybody on Friends is excellent, everybody likes them. America, the world loves the cast. So for God’s sake, make a f***ing movie for everyone.’

While they might not be ‘making a f***ing movie’ or planning to reunite on screen, at least we can continue watching them on Netflix for the foreseeable future…

Sherif Lanre was axed from Love Island after nine days (Picture: ITV)
Sherif Lanre has hit out at ITV for banning him from the upcoming Love Island Aftersun Reunion.

The 20-year-old was axed from the villa just nine days after he walked in, with producers stating he ‘broke the rules’.

Lifting the lid on his exit, he revealed he kicked Molly-Mae Hague in the groin, and joked it was a ‘c*** punt,’ leading to bosses kicking him out.

After not having the chance to say goodbye when he left the villa, Sherif was looking forward to finally having the chance to catch up with his co-stars

But, in an ‘upsetting’ twist, he claimed bosses told him he was ‘not required’ to attend the reunion, as his contract has ended.

Discussing the snub – which came after he apologised for his actions – the athlete claimed he ‘couldn’t rule out unconscious racism’ being a factor in their decision.

Love Island's Sherif Lanre

‘I can’t rule out that racism was a factor here. I think there may have been some unconscious racism,’ he told The Sun.

‘By that I mean, the producers might not have been aware of what they were doing, but they may have had an inherent bias in their minds that caused them to act against me.

‘I think this vendetta against me is coming from people higher up in the company rather than by the producers who know me.’

Sherif also insisted he had no idea why bosses are ‘being so difficult’ about the upcoming reunion.

‘It feels like they’re still punishing me for my initial mistake again or maybe they are punishing me for telling the truth about the incident,’ he added.

A Love Island spokesperson told the publication: ‘All of the Islanders are treated fairly and in accordance with our duty of care.’

At the time of his exit from the villa, Sherif released a statement: ‘In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa. ‘

‘I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.’

Molly-Mae has opened up about the incident, explaining she has no hard feelings towards Sherif.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk on her exit from the villa, she vowed there was no drama between them, telling us: ‘No, absolutely not, no beef with me and Sherif. I’ve not got my phone back yet, I’ve not even spoken to Sherif…

‘But there’s absolutely no beef between me and Sherif. I love the boy to pieces.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Love Island reps for a comment.

Love Island Aftersun reunion airs on Sunday, at 9pm, on ITV2.

Love Island’s Maura Higgins joining This Morning as resident agony aunt and we can’t wait

If you’re still mourning the end of Love Island (which, let’s be honest, we totally are), fear not – Hurricane Maura is going to be back on our screens before you know it.

Maura Higgins has been given a presenting role on This Morning, where she will host a phone-in segment giving viewers advice.

Here’s hoping her boyfriend, Curtis Pritchard won’t be helping out there…

When she’s not being the resident agony aunt, she will front a segment called Maura Than Meets The Eye, in which she will take on a series of challenges around the country.

She confirmed the role to the Mirror, revealing: ‘I’m getting flutters about joining This Morning. I can’t believe it. It’s beyond my wildest dreams.

‘I’ve grown up watching Phillip, Holly, Eamonn, Ruth and the team. Mad to think I’m now part of that iconic family. Can’t wait to crack on.’

Love Island's Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins
Maura and Curtis came fourth overall (Picture: Backgrid)

This Morning editor Martin Frizell added: ‘Maura was the stand out star of this year’s villa antics with her straight-talking opinionated views.’

It’s safe to say she saved this year’s series, which was looking pretty beige until she (and her fanny flutters) landed in the villa as one of the new bombshells.

The grid girl ended up coming in fourth place with Curtis Pritchard, with Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea winning the £50,000 prize money.

Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague came second and Ovie Soko and India Reynolds took third place in the final, watched by a record 3.6 million viewers.

Maura fast became one of the most popular personalities on the show, thanks to her no-nonsense approach and the complete lack of filter.

She had originally set her sights on Tommy, but decided her perfect man was actually professional ballroom dancer Curtis instead, which led to him breaking up with his ‘half-girlfriend’ Amy Hart, who he had been coupled up with since the start of the series.

We can’t wait to see Maura on This Morning – we literally couldn’t think of anyone better placed to dish out advice than her, tbh.

This Morning airs on weekdays, at 10:30, on ITV.

Dwayne Johnson is jealous of Idris Elba’s Sexiest Man Alive title but they’re both winners in our eyes

Dwayne Johnson got a touch of the green-eyed monster when Idris Elba was crowned People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2018, but really guys, there’s no need to squabble.

The Rock scooped the title in 2016, but Idris got the accolade last year while they were filming Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Dwayne was pretty peeved about it.

‘He came on set full of bravado,’ Johnson told USA Today.

‘I reminded him, “Yes, you are People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive of 2018. I however, am the Sexiest Man Alive in what is called perpetuity. That means for life.”‘

The man’s got a point. And a lovely way with words.

Idris Elba is the sexiest man in the world (Picture: David Burton/People Magazine)
Idris took the title in 2018, while Dwayne held the crown two years earlier (Picture: People)

Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch added that while Johnson congratulated Elba, 46, on the title, ‘it was clear he doesn’t want to give up the mantel’.

You’re still a big old hunk of pure man in our eyes, Dwayne.

Idris doesn’t take all that roasting lying down though, and recently got a jab in about his co-star when asked what it’s like to wear the sexy crown.

He told People: ‘I tell them [fans] that I’m proud to hold the title and I’m glad the magazine finally came to its senses.

‘I mean really? Dwayne Johnson, Sexiest Man Alive? Please.’

And it seems poor old Idris got teased non-stop on the Hobbs & Shaw set, as he recently revealed Dwayne and Jason Statham would rinse him about his role in Cats.

He said on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert: ‘So I’m working with Dwayne and Jason and as soon as they found out I was working on Cats, this was their favourite thing to do as I walked on set.

‘We’re doing this big fight scene, I’m walking in looking all bravado and they’re like, “Hey Idris, what areyou doing next?” And the crew would be like, “Yeah, what are you doing next?” And I would be like, “… Cats.’

Really guys. Jealousy is an ugly trait.

Honey Boo Boo pretends to ‘snort cocaine’ amid Mama June drug battles

Honey Boo Boo shocked fans this week after she appeared to mimic snorting cocaine during an Instagram live stream.

The 13-year-old reality star, real name Alana Thompson, was told off by what appeared to be her sister off-camera, as she pretended to line something up on the table and sniff it.

Her sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Shannon, can be heard telling her off for the action, yelling: ‘Alana quit f***ing doing … don’t even f***ing mimic that on f***ing live!

‘Don’t ever do that again. What you just f***ing did. Act like a f***ing idiot on Live. That’s why you don’t go f**king live on your Instagram.’

TMZ reports that Alana has been living with her sister since her mother, Mama June Shannon, and her boyfriend, Geno Doak, were arrested earlier this year for drug possession.

The couple were arrested in March after they were caught in a confrontation at a petrol station in Alabama, USA, and were found with ‘a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia’.

The family shot to fame on the reality series Toddlers and Tiaras, before being given their own show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

This led to a series of spin-off shows including Mama June: From Not to Hot, which showed the family trying to stage an intervention two days before her arrest.

The season finale showed Honey Boo Boo crying while telling her mother that she was scared to live with her in her current situation.

She said on the show: ‘I would love to come home and stay with you, tell you about my day, but I can’t do that because I’m scared. I’m scared to stay at your house.’

Alana added later in the show: ‘I really hope this is rock bottom for mama because once you hit rock bottom, there’s no more going deeper – you can only go up.

‘I really hope mama’s just thinking, “I just got arrested. I need to get it together. I need to get my s**t together”. If this isn’t her wake-up call. I could possibly lose her forever.’

Subscriptions are going to ruin video games – Reader’s Feature

What happens when there's more subscriptions than games?
What happens when there’s more subscriptions than games?

A reader worries that the increasing popularity of services like EA Access and Game Pass will be the doom of smaller games and companies.

A few times now I’ve heard the argument that all video games should be free. A few years ago that would’ve seemed like madness but given the rise of free-to-play and the success of games like Fortnite that is now a viable position. Although the problem is it only works with certain types of games and while online-only multiplayer games work fine it’s hard to see how you could monetise single-player story games like God Of War and its ilk.

The whole free argument also intersects with the idea that at the very least games should be considerably cheaper than they currently are. The argument for that being that games nowadays are discounted so quickly that if a game is a flop you can pick it up for almost half price just a month or so later, so why not just cut out the middle man and make your game look like a success from the start, rather than a bargain bin reject? If people don’t think your game is a failure than the chances of a sequel being welcomed, and of people continuing to buy DLC, greatly increases.

That all makes too much sense though so nobody ever went for it and so the next most fashionable option has become subscriptions. It started with PS Now, then EA Access and Game Pass, and will shortly be added to by Uplay+ and Google Stadia. And I’m sure that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Any publisher with more than a couple of games to their name is going to want a piece of the pie once it’s proven a success. And that is where the problem lies.

The thing is, subscriptions in theory are a really good idea. You don’t expect much from a company like EA doing this but the price is nice and low (most are around £6 to £8 but often with extended trail periods – the Xbox one is basically being given away for two years if you pick the right deal) and the range of games is surprisingly good, with also deals on early access, pre-order discounts, and early betas.

The problem, and really this isn’t anyone’s fault, is that as soon as you get more than a few the costs start to mount up and what was once just £8 a month is ballooning to £20 or £30. Add that to Xbox Live Gold and PS Plus, and all the TV subscriptions you’ve got, and suddenly you’re paying more in monthly bills for entertainment than you are for gas and electricity.

Not only is this no-one’s fault but there’s no obvious solution either. But there is unfortunately another obvious problem: the little fishes are going to get ignored as a result of this. A lot of people might be willing to pony up for an EA or Ubisoft subscription, but mid-sized publishers like Bandai Namco or Warner Bros.? That seems less likely. So what happens to their games? And what about even smaller companies and indie titles?

When the majority of people are getting all their games from a subscription the chances of smaller games being discovered, and making their money, go through the floor. The only answers are a separate subscription service for indies and smaller games or that they get featured in the other ones. Ubisoft and others are likely to carry non-rival games and Microsoft especially (I assume Sony will soon announce an equivalent to Game Pass, because PS Now isn’t really that yet).

That’s probably the only answer but it seems unreliable and reduces everything but big name games to an also-ran. Not to mention that on Game Pass at least the exact games that are available at any one time are constantly changing.

My fear is that a move towards subscriptions will only end up funnelling us down the route of playing exactly the games that big companies want us to (the super lucrative ones with lots of microtransactions) and side-lining all the others, either on purpose or essentially by accident.

I hope that’s not what happens but given how companies now rely on fewer and fewer but bigger and bigger games they have to make sure that each one is as massive a hit as possible, and to do that removing any distractions from smaller games makes a lot of sense. We’ll have to see of course but I don’t look forward to a future where I have eight video game subscriptions a month and still can’t find anything but the usual blockbusters to play.

Ōkami is best the Zelda game never made – Reader’s Feature

Ōkami - the next best thing to Zelda
Ōkami – the next best thing to Zelda

A reader explains why it took him three attempts to enjoy Breath Of The Wild and where he thinks open world games often get it wrong.

The Legend Of Zelda has always been one of Nintendo’s flagship franchises and its 3D debut, Ocarina Of Time, still serves as the benchmark for action adventure games.

By and large, 3D Zelda games have stuck to the conventions set out by Ocarina Of Time. That’s no surprise: it’s Ocarina Of Time’s familiar blend of puzzles, characters, combat and dungeons that has kept the series so popular.

Breath Of The Wild did away with many of these concepts and, whilst it’s a brilliant game, it’s a very different experience to its predecessors. Dungeons are shorter and more spread out. A compelling story is replaced by a sparse narrative of only a few cut scenes. A linear overworld, covered with towns and secrets, is replaced by a vast open world largely devoid of people.

With the announcement of a sequel to Breath Of The Wild, which seems to follow a similar trend as the original, it’s left me wanting a more classic 3D Zelda game on Switch.

Ōkami HD arrived on Switch last year and it’s everything I could have wanted. Though the game’s setting and story is nothing like any Zelda game, the gameplay is wonderfully reminiscent of Ocarina Of Time. Instead of a large open world, the focus is squarely on puzzle solving. Dungeons, though spread a bit thin, are fairly large. Similar to Zelda, you’ll be constantly unlocking new abilities, mainly new skills for your paintbrush. This paintbrush is the main gimmick of the game, allowing you to draw onto the environment. Especially considering this was the studio’s first take on a 3D adventure games, everything feels remarkably refined.

Fans of The Wind Waker will be pleased to know this game has a delightful, cel-shaded look, and this is combined with a unique style to make the game look like a traditional Japanese painting, with every object being made of little brush strokes.

Ōkami uses this Japanese art style to tell a story heavily inspired by Japanese legends. You play as a wolf god called Amaterasu who, like Link, is voiceless. Most of the talking is done by your companion Issun, a tiny bug who’s reminiscent of Navi, but is far less annoying. Together, you and Issun embark on a quest to free the land of Nippon from the grasp of the evil beast Orochi, a journey that sees you trekking through grasslands, forests and villages.

The only real downside is the combat, which is surprising given many of the people who made this game went on to found PlatinumGames, a studio renowned for crafting action adventures with deep and satisfying battles. In Ōkami, you attack enemies by pressing, virtually, two buttons. To make matters worse, many enemies are invulnerable until they perform a specific move, meaning battles quickly degenerate into a game of waiting for enemies to expose their weak points. Combat is further hampered by its lack of difficulty: most enemies rarely attack you and when they do it does only a small amount of damage.

All in all, Ōkami is a game that wears its inspirations on its sleeve. When it debuted in 2006 comparisons were frequently drawn with the, at the time, recently released Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess. That Ōkami beat Twilight Princess in many 2006 game of the year lists is a testament to its quality.

It might be a bit dated but Ōkami HD is a brilliant way to scratch that classic 3D Zelda itch and, at £15.99, it’s one of the best deals on the Switch.

Weekend Hot Topic, part 1: Your favourite video game universe

Halo Infinite - the world of Halo returns
Halo Infinite – the world of Halo returns

GameCentral readers reveal their favourite video game settings, from the world of Pokémon to the post-apocalypse of Fallout.

The subject for this weekend’s Inbox was suggested by reader Gannet, who asked, regardless of the quality of the games themselves, what setting is your favourite and why? Why do you think it works so well and how consistent is the universe between different games?

With so many long-running franchises to choose from there were plenty of different suggestions, but The Legend Of Zelda did come up a lot, along with the likes of Mass Effect and Fallout.

Masterful chief

There’s been a lot of big questions lately about whether Halo still has the pulling power as a major franchise but to me it’s still my favourite franchise and a bit part of that has to be do with the lore and setting that has been created around it. I actually think that’s one of the main problems with the last couple of games, in that they didn’t feel like the original Halos and created all these new bad guys and everything that changed the nature of the set-up too much.

When Halo started it was humans vs. aliens with a lot of influence from James Cameron movies, but behind the action the two factions had been very well thought out, especially The Covenant and all their difference races and politics. The Flood was also a fascinating third faction and it all worked together to create what seemed liked it was going to be the equivalent of Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings for video game.

But even though it’s gone off the rails since Bungie left I still love the universe and hope things can be brought back round with Halo Infinite.

A world of exploration

Considering how much time I’ve spent in it, Azeroth almost feels like a home from home. Unlike some players I refuse to look to see how many hours I’ve put into World Of Warcraft but it’s definitely hundreds. A lot of that has to do with how huge the game world is and how well thought out all the lore and history is.

It doesn’t seem so special now but when it first started the idea that you could explore the whole landscape, that every mountain and forest in the distance was a place you could actually visit, seemed crazy and exciting.

But even now that open worlds are commonplace it still comes down to the design and atmosphere, not just the graphics. There are dozens of novels and guidebooks and everything you could possibly imagine about the world of Warcraft and even if I’m not into all of it I can totally understand why.

Dark magic

It’s got to be SoulsBorne for me. The way FromSoftware construct their worlds is just incredible, leagues beyond anyone doing anything similar. So little is explained to you in a traditional fashion but you slowly pick up what’s going on and all the intricacies of the plots and characters, it’s almost magical – dark magic, but still magic.

The absolute best for me is Bloodborne simply because it’s so weird. With Dark Souls it’s a dark fantasy world and you get it straight away, even though it’s very unique in itself, but Bloodborne you don’t really understand what’s going on for hours. Then when the Lovecraftian stuff starts it’s just mind-blowing.

It almost feels like a dream at times, like you’re sucked into the game world and experiencing it for real, which is obviously terrifying in its way. Amazing game that I doubt will ever be bettered, no matter what else From do.

Cheese sandwich

It think it’s got to be Resident Evil for me. Even though it must be hell living in that world I just think of the games and get a huge grin on my face. That special combination of scares, action, and cheese is unlike anything and how they’ve got it to work so well over eight games and a ton of spin-offs I’ll never know.

It is a universe though because it’s been the same plot running through all the games, right from the beginning up till now. Things are taken a bit more seriously now but the characters are all still recognisable and all have their own little arcs and endings.

Second I would say is The Witcher, which is my favourite open world. I know it’s based on a series of books but as far as I understand the game doesn’t stick very close to them so I’m sure it counts. The amount of incidental detail in The Witcher 3 is amazing and it really does feel like a real, living world. Which is what you’re after really. Or a real, undead world I guess, in the case of Resi.
Gaston

Gotta pet ‘em all

I think for me it’s Pokémon, which now I come to think of it doesn’t have a name, just the different regions. I know Pokémon may seem a strange answer but part of its nostalgia and playing it as a kid but the other is that it is a pretty idealised version of our real world, where it’s always sunny and beautiful out and while there’s bad guys and evil pokémon around nobody ever seems to get really hurt.

It just seems a fun place to exist in, where nobody seems to have much of a care and everyone has sentient pets that they use to fight other… okay, maybe it is a bit weird but the film made it all look really cool and in my mind it’s a place just like our world but where everyone gets on and there are cute pokémon everywhere.

I’m not sure where the terrifying ghost and giant bug ones go though. Maybe we can ship them all off to whatever the region that was based on France was called. Also, if I lived in the Pokémon world I would be able to create my own Pokémon Snap 2 by just wandering around with a camera.

Pretty apocalypse

My favourite gaming world/universe has to by Hyrule. Whether it’s the version from Ocarina Of Time, The Wind Waker, or Breath Of The Wild, it always manages to have beautiful locations to visit. In each game the world is supposed to be coming to an end and overrun with evil but the landscape still manages to look like a postcard.

I’ve always wanted to go for a day trip to Lake Hylia: do some swimming, bit of fishing, and finish the day watching the sunset. Ah… if only.

Longer-lasting world

My favourite game world has to be The Elder Scrolls games.

I first played Oblivion and at the time I don’t think I had ever come across such a beautiful, expansive, varied world. The forests, meadows, cities and mountains all looked incredible.

The first time I saw the Imperial City from afar I was agog.

With so much to do it was frankly a bit overwhelming!

Then came Skyrim, and while I don’t actually think Skyrim is as varied in landscape as Cyrodiil from Oblivion, it again looked amazing, and dragons!

These are games I’m happy to just get on my horse and ride through the landscape, taking everything in.

I never played Morrowind, so would love a remake of that. But equally excited to see The Elder Scrolls VI.

The only thing is, Oblivion took me three years to finish the main storyline, and Skyrim took me five, so does that mean The Elder Scrolls VI will take me seven years?

Amanda Holden gave us some serious holiday envy with her latest snap (Picture: Instagram)

Amanda Holden only jetted off to Greece on Thursday, but she’s already giving us more holiday envy that we can handle for an entire year.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge was a total thirst trap with her latest Instagram post, which showed her lounging around on a unicorn lilo in the pool.

As if we weren’t jealous enough of the idyllic set-up, she also showed off her incredible figure in an itsy bitsy dark green bikini and it’s all just too much.

‘Yay for the #weekend #family #holiday #love #unicorn all that’s missing is a glass of #rosè,’ she wrote in the caption.

If there’d been alcohol in the mix too, we might have imploded on the spot with bitterness.

amanda holden

The 48-year-old, who recently revealed scam artists are using her name to push diet pills, treated fans to anther sizzling snap a day earlier.

This time, Holden lay on her front in a neon yellow bikini with her Heart FM microphone muff on her back and made a pretty cheeky pun about it.

‘The #Muff is ‘back’ #holiday #family #love 🇮🇹 missing @thisisheart #breakfast #bikini,’ she wrote.

Amanda’s been causing a stir during Britain’s Got Talent filming, and recently took a friendly jab at fellow judge David Walliams.

After David brought up her ex-husband Les Dennis, she hit straight back by claiming the comedian never lets the panel talk about his own former spouse, Lara Stone.

She said: ‘That [marriage to Les] was 20 years ago, David, and don’t you have an ex-wife? But we’re never allowed to talk about Lara Stone, are we!’

Shots. Fired.

Paul Hollywood has reportedly been dumped by his girlfriend Summer Monteys-Fulham after asking her to sign a gagging order.

The Great British Bake Off judge, 53, allegedly drew up a non-disclosure agreement banning the barmaid, 24, from discussing their sex lives, his wealth or their private lives.

Sources claimed Summer was ‘horrified’ at Paul’s ‘controlling’ behaviour and ended things ‘for good’ – just days after the TV star finalised his divorce from wife of 21 years, Alexandra.

The NDA was drawn up by Paul’s lawyers and banned Summer from telling friends and family ‘any information (whether true or false)’, according to The Sun.

Paul reportedly asked her to sign an NDA (Picture: Instagram)

‘Paul told Summer she needed to sign the NDA and that it was no big deal. Summer flat-out said no,’ a source told the publication.

‘In the days that followed Paul got his lawyers to call Summer on her mobile to try and get her to sign it.’

Summer, who met Paul while working at his local pub in the summer of 2017, reportedly decided ‘enough was enough’ and moved out of their £1 million home into her mum’s nearby house in Ickham, Kent.

Paul allegedly ‘hit the roof’ when she refused to sign the NDA and blocked her on social media.

‘Paul was really angry when she told him it was over. He clearly did not see it coming. She said she had been building towards this and that there was no future for them,’ the insider claimed.

It comes just days after Paul finalised his divorce from wife Alexandra (Picture: Getty)

He unblocked her soon after, however, and tried to win her back with ‘grovelling texts’, according to the publication.

In the three-page NDA seen by The Sun, Summer would be banned from discussing Paul’s divorce from Alexandra as well as details about their relationship.

Metro.co.uk has contacted a rep for Paul for comment.

It comes after Paul was granted a quickie divorce from his estranged wife Alexandra in a 10-second hearing on grounds of adultery.

Summer was pictured proudly wearing a T-shirt bearing Paul’s surname ‘Hollywood’ on it on the same day, as she was spotted out in Kent.

Brody Jenner has split with Kaitlynn Carter one year after their intimate Indonesian wedding.

The Hills: New Beginnings star, 35, and blogger, 30, have decided to call it quits after six years together.

Sources claimed the pair never actually obtained their marriage licence in the US after their nuptials so they weren’t legally married.

‘Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate,’ the pair’s reps, Scott Newman and Lindsay Maguire, said in a statement.

‘They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.’

https://www.instagram.com/p/ByNrvt4g7FU/

The pair’s romance had allegedly been rocky ‘for years’ and was strained due to Kaitlynn’s desire to have kids and the pressure caused by appearing on The Hills: New Beginnings.

‘Brody and Kaitlynn have had issues for years. It is no secret amongst those who knew them. And the show was not good for them,’ a source told People.

‘It got so bad that Kaitlynn had actually moved out before they started filming, but then moved back in. Doing The Hills magnified a lot of things in their marriage. And it became clear that it wasn’t going to work. They both knew it.’

A second source added that Kaitlynn’s desire to start a family was a factor in their split.

They butted heads over that constantly. Kaitlynn really wants to be a mom and never swayed from that. She thought Brody was change his mind, but he didn’t,’ the insider claimed.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Brody and Kaitlynn for comment.

The pair’s split comes after they said ‘I do’ on the island of Nihi Sumba off of the coast of Indonesia last June.

Brody’s famous parent Caitlyn Jenner was nowhere to be seen apparently, though her ex-wife Linda Thompson – Brody’s mum – attended alongside his brother Brandon.

The 68-year-old former Keeping Up With Kardashians star was reportedly ‘too busy’ to be a wedding guest after she was spotted halfway across the world at the Life Ball with her gal pal Sophia Hutchins, 23.

Brody was ‘deeply hurt’ the former Olympian did not make the wedding – and it seems as if his half-sisters Kylie and Kendall did not attend either, TMZ claimed.

Brody and Kaitylnn met at a party in 2013 and the connection between the two was said to have been instant.

Seal gives Katy Perry tips on making music after she lost Dark Horse copyright lawsuit: ‘You can’t steal’

Seal’s got a few helpful tips for Katy Perry on making music after she lost a copyright lawsuit for her song, Dark Horse.

The 34-year-old singer has been ordered to pay $550,000 (£450,000) to rapper Flame (Marcus Gray) after a jury ruled that she stole beats from his 2008 track, Joyful Noise.

Luckily Seal was on hand to step in with some advice for K-Pez for her next track.

The Kiss From A Rose hitmaker, 56, advised Perry not to ‘steal’ and suggested that she ‘insert her own personality’ into her songs, in a clip for TMZ.

‘It’s very hard to find a musician who is 100 per cent original, we all borrow, we’re all influenced by music,’ he said.

‘I guess the trick is you can’t steal, you can’t plagiarise… you have to at least insert your own personality.’

The singer went on: ‘All my early stuff is influenced by Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder…’

When someone off-camera pointed out that he didn’t steal from those artists, he replied: I’ve got a lot of self-respect.’

Rapper Marcus Gray
Marcus launched the lawsuit back in 2014 and finally saw results this week (Picture: AP)

Oo, Seal! Do we spy a bit of accidental shade there?!

Katy’s been having an absolute nightmare in court this week, first losing the copyright lawsuit and then being ordered to pay damages.

This girl just cannot catch a break.

Rapper Fame, 37, launched the lawsuit against Perry in 2014, claiming that Dark Horse has ‘tarnished’ his song’s reputation due to its allusions to ‘witchcraft’.

Flame claimed it ‘irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in Dark Horse’.

Whoopi Goldberg has been slammed for ‘body-shaming’ Mariah Carey after she commented on the singer’s figure.

The actress, 63, was discussing with Jerry O’Connell what it was like to play the singer’s boyfriend in her Heartbreaker music video in 1999, during his appearance on The View on Thursday.

As panellist Sunny Hostin marvelled at the clip being ’20 years ago,’ Whoopi murmured, ’20 bodies ago’.

Her quick comment has sparked furious backlash from Mariah fans, who slammed the comedian for ‘reducing’ the singer ‘down to her body size’.

One fan vented: ‘20 bodies ago? you, yourself have changed body types MANY times. What’s this about?

‘You’re always jumping on people to be more positive and polite and you come up in here with this? What’s got you mad today?’

Another added: ‘We ain’t body shaming Mariah. She’s a biracial singer-songwriter who worked hard to be one of the best selling female artist. She not gonna be reduced down to her body size.’

‘Have more respect. Youre NOT a feminist when you point at another woman’s body,’ a third viewer fumed.

Metro.co.uk has contacted a rep for Whoopi for comment.

Whoopi previously left Bella Thorne in tears after criticising the actress for releasing her own nude photos.

The 21-year-old decided to ‘take the power back’ by releasing her own topless photos on social media after being threatened by a hacker.

Addressing Bella’s ordeal, Whoopi said on The View in June: ‘You don’t do that. Listen… when they’re hacking you, they’re hacking all of your stuff…whether its one picture or a million pictures.

‘Once you take that picture it goes into the cloud and it’s available to any hacker that wants it – and if you don’t know that in 2019 then this is an issue.

‘I’m sorry you don’t get to do that. You cannot be surprised that someone hacks you.’
