Love Is Blind’s Jessica Batten is the reality TV supervillain we deserve

Our queen (Picture: Netflix)

This piece contains spoilers for Love Is Blind

Every once in a while, a person comes along who was born to be a reality TV star. I’m talking Jessica Simpson. Snooki. Spencer Pratt. Maura Higgins.

And this year, we have been blessed/cursed with somebody so made for reality TV that she may as well have been born in an MTV studio. That person is Love Is Blind’s Jessica Batten.

A new jewel in Netflix’s crown, Love Is Blind is a ‘three week event’, bafflingly ‘hosted’ by Nick and Vanessa Lachey who, so far, have shown up about three times to essentially remind the contestants of the reason they’re there.

The premise is a dollop of Married At First Sight mixed with 90 Day Fiancé and a touch of First Dates – a host of single men and women only interact with each other via pods, where they can hear each other but, importantly, cannot see each other.

Out of a load of them, six couples end up falling head over heels in love in a matter of days after discussing their favourite childhood books and whether they want kids (spoiler – they all do), and in truly unhinged scenes, sob as they tell the disembodied voice they’ve known for less than a week they love them before PROPOSING through a WALL.

The newly engaged couples finally get to see each other (no real tension because they’re all typically good looking) and adjust to real life, meet each other’s bewildered parents who don’t understand the concept of reality TV and prepare for their wedding that’s due to take place a month later. It is bananas.

And in the midst of all this – let’s face it – gold, there is one woman that raises the bar for reality insanity as she navigates going from independent woman to wife in less time than it takes most of us to finish off a litre of milk.

Jessica is a 34-year-old regional manager (of what? Who cares!) who really, really wants to get married. She has achieved success in her mysterious career, reaching a six-figure salary, and now that she’s in her mid 30s, she wants to find Mr Right and start a family.

In the pods, Jessica meets Mark – a man who is Christian, like her, and wants a family, like her, but crucially is, at 24, an entire decade younger than her. Despite repeatedly saying they are ‘literally the same person’ (which we later discover is a total lie), this age gap weights heavy on Jessica’s mind… as does her thirst for 27-year-old Barnett.

He is the prototype for a f***boi, who she actually prefers – but when she gets pied off by Barnett (by the way, not his name, his name is Matthew), she goes crawling back to Mark and gets engaged.

Once they emerge from the pods, it’s clear there is no sexual chemistry between Mark and Jessica, but Mark, god bless him, really wants to make this work. Jessica does not. At this stage of the show, I felt kind of bad for Jess. She really wants to get married, but this process is just not for her.

LOVE IS BLIND
Why are Nick and Vanessa Lachey there? Who knows (Picture: Netflix)

But then came our good friend alcohol, and showed that this process is absolutely for her, and she is a ball of chaos that has been waiting for a camera to watch her every move.

Like any true reality star, there isn’t just one moment from Jess I can point to that proves her worth. Barnett’s whole birthday party, where she got absolutely hammered and told Barnett that she fancied him, while her husband-to-be innocently played beer pong. Getting annoyed at Mark joking about the attractiveness of another woman, and firing back that she thinks Barnett is sexy. Getting incredibly wound up anytime Mark mentions his mother. Her baby voice. LETTING HER DOG DRINK WINE FROM HER GLASS. The list goes on.

When I started watching Love Is Blind, I thought Barnett was the villain of the show, but I now know Jessica is the true evil mastermind. No, she is not typically likeable, everything she does is bats**t and she actually makes me feel sorry for a man, which is quite the feat. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love her.

LOVE IS BLIND
Jessica is a ball of chaos with a good job (Picture: Netflix)

What makes a good reality star a good reality star is the straddling of the line between being hilarious and quite a terrible person. I don’t want to watch somebody who I’d happily get a drink with. I want to watch somebody who would be an absolute liability on a night out that you would avoid getting a taxi with like the plague. There’s a reason Snooki became the standout star of Jersey Shore, and it’s not because you’d want to hang out with her.

I’m sorry to all the other couples, but I’m not tuning into Love Is Blind to see unconventional marriages work out. I am watching it to see the carnage when a woman entirely regrets her decision but ploughs on because at least she got a ring out of it.

Jessica is just like every girl you went to school with who posts uplifting quotes about friendship and footprints in the sand, but also regularly does Facebook culls and subtweets about betrayal. She absolutely has a ‘live, laugh, love’ sign somewhere in her house. She has Facebook stalked her ex’s new girlfriend. She has cut up a man’s clothes after being scorned. She looks down at others who get sloppy, but after two glasses of rosé she has 100 per cent taken on a bouncer twice her height.

We all know this girl. A lot of us are this girl. But Jessica had the balls to commit to showing off her unique brand of crazy on a show all about finding a husband, and for that, I salute her.

Welcome to the reality TV star hall of fame, Jessica. May your wine always be flowing.

Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix.

Khloe Kardashian had us all green with fashion envy as she stepped out for dinner with mum Kris Jenner and sister Kim Kardashian in Malibu.

The reality star, 35, rocked a grey snake print co-ord with a long black jacket which she wore on one shoulder, and despite it being evening, she paired the look with some oversized shades for the occasion.

Khloe completed the look with white Yeezy trainers and long white nails, keeping her jeweller to simple rings and a small cross necklace.

She was headed to dinner with Kris and Kim at the swanky Mastro’s Ocean Club in Malibu, where they were joined by Kris’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble.

Their dinner came after the family paid their respects to Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the other seven who died in the same helicopter crash in January.

The family had been friends with Kobe and the Bryant family, and looked emotional as they watched his wife, Vanessa Bryant, speak about the loss of her husband and daughter in the same tragedy.

Kim tweeted: ‘My heart is so heavy. No one should ever experience what the families involved are going through.

‘This has affected us all so much but I cannot begin to imagine what Vanessa is feeling losing her husband and her baby girl. I cry just thinking about it.’

The memorial had taken place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with several stars, including Jennifer Lopez, attending to show their respect to the LA Lakers legend.

Beyonce also performed her hit track XO at the event – which was a personal favourite of Kobe – as mourners paid tribute to those who were lost when the helicopter Kobe had been travelling in crashed near Calabasas.

Celebrity Big Brother star Chloe Goodman is engaged to her footballer partner Grant Hall, who she met at a ‘really bad time’ in her life.

Chloe, who is pregnant, was at a low point when she met Grant, having just ended an engagement and losing a child.

At around the same time Grant, who plays for Queens Park Rangers, had also ended a relationship and was having a hard time with his football because of an injury.

She told The Sun: ‘For two years I had no idea that he was struggling with mental health; when he was doing the campaign he did a long radio interview and sent it to me to listen to because he couldn’t tell me exactly how he felt.

‘I started bawling my eyes out, I had no idea he was in that much of a bad way – I had no idea it was that bad.’

She confesses she didn’t realise how much her partner had been struggling, but the footballer credits her for saving his life.

Grant explained he would try and run away from his problems by going out drinking ‘five, six weeks in a row’, and it was around that time he met Chloe.

He said: ‘I got back on track, we started keeping busy, in a way she did actually save me. She has been great, she has opened my eyes.’

He asked for his partner’s dad’s blessing about eight weeks before popping the question in front of their friends and family at the gender reveal for their baby girl.

The model nearly didn’t realise she was being proposed to as there were fireworks going on at the party at the time.

‘It was a complete shock – I wish that I did kind of have an inkling because then my facial expressions would be a little more attractive!’ she joked.

Chloe is best known for her appearances on series one of Ex On The Beach and Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.

In that series, contestant Jeremy Jackson was removed from the house after he pulled open Chloe’s dressing gown in the bathroom.

What happened behind the scenes on The Sex Clinic when man had genital warts painfully burnt off

Marco The Sex Clinic
Wear protection, people – take Marco’s face as a lesson (Picture: Channel 4)

What actually happened behind the scenes as 30-year-old Marco had his genital warts burnt off?

It’s the question on everyone’s lips, don’t lie, but now sexual health nurse Sarah Mulindwa has revealed just what went on behind the curtain when Marco waltzed into the clinic with a suspicious lump under his foreskin.

The lad got everyone’s attention on Monday night when he presented to the Sex Clinic and after some tests, it was determined he had genital warts. That’s got to ruin your day.

First he’d screamed the clinic down, making everyone in the waiting room shudder at the thought of what was going on in that consultation room, when he had to get his penis swabbed, however, he hadn’t seen anything yet.

Once it was determined he did have the sexually transmitted infection, the first step was to have the wart on his penis burnt off (well, frozen, really) with liquid nitrogen at a very cool -210 degrees Celcius.

It was a change of temperament for Marco, who had earlier boasted of sleeping with ‘100 women, or something’ and that he doesn’t use protection even though he’d been ‘screwing around’ in the two years since his last sexual health checkup.

While it’s all entertainment for us at home not having a freezing implement painfully placed on our most delicate of nethers, Sarah has dished on what Marco was like behind the scenes…for our curious entertainment.

‘Marco was exactly the same off-camera and I think that’s what made him so brilliant. He wasn’t trying to be something he wasn’t, he was super relaxed and open to it,’ Sarah tells Metro.co.uk after viewers’ hilarious reaction to Marco. ‘Off and on the camera he kept the same energy, that was genuinely his character. We had to slow down on filming and I had to re-do my eye makeup he was so funny.’

But when you’re trying to freeze someone’s genital warts off with a camera in your face and a screaming Marco on the table, things can get a little distracting.

Still, Sarah is a professional and this was just another day of wart freezing for her.

Sarah Mulindwa
For Sarah, it was just another day in a sexual health clinic (Picture: Channel 4)

She says: ‘It can be tricky, my priority is they’re patients. Obviously we’re filming it and I’m conscious of the angles but I want it to be as organic as possible. I try to pretend the cameras aren’t there.

‘They have options of what they want to film, they have the option of showing everything or nothing. It’s about finding the right balance.’

Afterwards many were tickled by Marco’s perplexed reaction to not being able to have any sexual contact at all, none, nada, zilch.

‘What we normally say is to avoid sex altogether, any opportunity for skin on skin to be in contact, avoid,’ Sarah said during last night’s episode – with Marco asking if blow jobs were still on the menu. ‘Your wart is on your penis, avoid putting your penis on anybody else, anywhere on their body.’

In his confessional after the fact, Marco didn’t seem all that intent on keeping his promise to Sarah – despite insisting he would try not to have sex until his warts were fully treated.

Does seeing this kind of potential flouting of their guidance frustrating for a sexual health professional?

‘I think it’s really good from our perspective, one or two might write something nice and it’s always good to get feedback so you know you’re doing the right thing and helping people,’ Sarah says of seeing the thoughts of patients on TV after their consultation – something that doesn’t happen in her normal day-to-day clinic.

It’s also a chance for her to reminisce on the more entertaining of patients, as she continues: ‘We never usually get to see what people say after they see us. It’s interesting because in a real-life sex clinic you see so many people and stories merge into one another. Even me watching the show, I’m watching it with you – ask me who I saw, Marco I remember, but I genuinely can’t remember many because I’ve seen hundreds of patients since.’

But with Marco…oh Marco: ‘I remember Marco like the back of my hand, there are always some.’

The Sex Clinic returns Monday 10pm on Channel 4.

Resident Evil 3 remake hands-on preview – the stars his destination

Resident Evil 3 remake screenshot
Resident Evil 3 remake – who’ll be seeing stars? (pic: Capcom)

Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 3 presents a zombie-infested Raccoon City at its most spine-chilling, and adds a credible multiplayer mode.

1999’s Resident Evil 3 occupies a pretty hallowed place in the beloved survival-horror series’ canon. It was the first Resident Evil game to extend beyond a series of claustrophobic interiors, presenting a then-stunning depiction of the chaos that ensued throughout Raccoon City following the T-Virus outbreak depicted in the previous game. Plus, it added welcome new action-oriented elements to the Resident Evil blueprint. As such, it set strong foundations for the franchise to endure as long as it has.

Now Capcom has followed up last year’s acclaimed remake of Resident Evil 2 by giving its successor what is essentially the same treatment. That means the Resident Evil 3 remake is far from a slavish frame-by-frame reconstruction of the original game. Technology-wise, it’s thoroughly modern, being constructed using the same engine that underpins Resident Evil 7. And while it remains true to the original as far as the overarching story and gameplay are concerned, it isn’t afraid to add new elements and veer off in different directions at times.

We played two chunks of hands-on gameplay with the Resident Evil 3 remake: about two hours of the single-player storyline, along with a number of matches in Resident Evil Resistance, a rare (and, for once, competent) multiplayer take on Resident Evil that will be bundled with the single-player game for free.

Resident Evil 3 remake single-player story

In the original game, Raccoon City was presented merely as a set of pre-rendered backgrounds. But this is the 21st century, so as in the previous remake it now uses an approach closer to Resident Evil 4, with an over-the-shoulder camera view. Even ignoring the change in perspective, the graphics are superb, with the characters and zombies looking better than any previous entry and the game making much use of visual tricks like depth of focus.

Story-wise, the hands-on began about 30 minutes into the game, with Jill Valentine emerging from Raccoon City’s train station, armed initially with just a handgun and tasked with restoring power to the city’s subway train system. Capcom has clearly had great fun using the latest technology to remake the place in a manner beyond the wildest dreams of the original development team.

Zombies shamble everywhere; as in the original, a generous smattering of red barrels (and later, sparking generators) provide opportunities to take out several enemies at once. Which is just as well, since the base handgun lacks power and ammo is scarce – again, completely in keeping with the original.

Finding an alley blocked by a fire, we noticed a conveniently placed hydrant, so set off on our first puzzle-solving mission: finding something with which to douse the flames. Hurrying as much as possible past incipient zombies – Jill’s run, in classic Resident Evil style, is still pretty slow – we explored nearby shops and buildings, uncovering familiarly useful objects including green and red herbs, blue and red jewels, first aid spray, gunpowder which can be combined into bullets, and grenades.

In typical fashion, the game sends you on a tortuous, largely prescribed path, although once you acquire sufficient ammo to take on the zombies in the street, you’re also able to explore various abandoned shops. We found a fire hose, along with the Raccoon City subway offices, which contained a shotgun in a cabinet locked with a chain. Returning to the fire hydrant, we attached the hose, which put out the fire and yielded a set of bolt-cutters in the next room, allowing us to backtrack and acquire the shotgun.

The bolt-cutters opened up a new area of the city, triggering a cut scene in which Jill encountered Umbrella soldier Carlos, and we learned that we would have to restore power to the subway before setting up a subway train to move between two stations. The first objective involved a puzzle sequence in a labyrinthine, cobwebbed level containing four power-breakers which needed to be switched, and was populated by giant spiders, which poisoned Jill when they attacked (cutely, each time we healed her, she vomited).

Encountering the Nemesis

Returning to the subway office, we performed another train-routing puzzle, before returning to the subway station – a task made considerably harder by the presence of Resident Evil 3’s notorious Nemesis, who had begun to dog our movements. Nemesis is a giant, black leather-clad Tyrant who is basically indestructible, and pursues players throughout a large part of the game. In the remake’s incarnation, he has acquired a set of tentacles with which he drags you towards him, just when you think you have eluded him. You can temporarily immobilise him by shooting him in the face, or shooting nearby barrels or generators, but you quickly learn that running away from him is the best policy.

Moving forward from the subway station (where coloured jewels can be redeemed for useful items by putting them in a clock-like contraption), we descended into the sewers, where we encountered a new enemy, the Hunter Gamma – a giant, mutant chicken-like creature best disposed of using grenades (we also uncovered the grenade launcher, which was handy), along with a recurring puzzle involving opening doors with a power source.

It’s pretty clear that the Resident Evil 3 remake picks up very much where the Resident Evil 2 one left off. While it stays true to the original’s gameplay and general vibe, it adds plenty of new elements and makes great use of modern technology to ramp up the creepiness and horror element. In other words, it conspicuously sets standards for modern remakes of 1990s games – if anything, it looks even better than the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Project Resistance screenshot
Project Resistance – he’s behind you! (pic: Capcom)

Resident Evil Resistance hands-on

The one question mark hanging over the Resident Evil 3 remake – which two hours with the game wasn’t sufficient to answer – regards the length of its single-player campaign. That was the one aspect of the original that came in for criticism. Perhaps tacitly admitting that as an issue, Capcom has chosen to bundle the remake with a standalone game entitled Resident Evil Resistance.

Resident Evil Resistance is an asymmetric, four-versus-one multiplayer game which Capcom is at pains to point out is ‘non-canon’ but is set at roughly the same time as the events depicted in Resident Evil 3. Resistance’s story set-up chronicles a set of sinister experiments carried out by the Umbrella Corporation not long after the development of the T-Virus, in which groups of four survivors must escape from levels (each game is a three-stage, timed process), while a ‘mastermind’, observing through cameras in each room, sets traps and spawns zombies in an effort to thwart them.

In Resistance – or at least, the version we played – there are six survivors, each with a distinct class type (tank, hacker, damage, support and so on) and four masterminds to choose from. Those masterminds are mostly familiar baddies from Resident Evil games of yore: Annette Birkin, Alex Wesker, Ozwell E. Spencer, and Daniel Fabron.

Resistance can only be played by one mastermind and four survivors – there’s no way to drop in computer-controlled players, so it has a lobby/matchmaking system, although you can also set up custom games with your mates. Playing on a closed system of PlayStation 4s networked together, we couldn’t fully explore that system, but it looked pretty standard.

Initially, playing as a mastermind, we experienced a certain amount of confusion, although that didn’t last long: Resistance seems pretty straightforward. Hitting the PlayStation 4’s touchpad brings up a map of the level, and you can pick out specific rooms by clicking on the surveillance camera icons. At the bottom of the screen, a set of cards provide survivor-slowing objects like leg-traps and zombies of various descriptions (including sets of zombie dogs). Plus, you can turn lights off, lock doors, and so on.

You can reshuffle if you don’t like the hand you’re dealt but there’s a cooldown period after using each card, before a new one is dealt out. There’s plenty of scope for taking a tactical approach, since you can see where the objects that survivors have to collect are… and booby-trap them accordingly.

There are also certain zombies you can control directly (giving them red eyes to show the survivors you are in control) and each mastermind at some point (usually a few stages into a game) gets a signature card. In the case of Annette Birkin that was her mutated husband, William, who is particularly satisfying to control, with unique, powerful flailing attacks.

Playing as a survivor requires co-operation with your three team-mates. Here you’re constantly up against time pressures, with extra time collectively gained for positive actions, such as killing zombies, shooting out cameras and finding keys, and time deducted for faux pas like being killed and having to respawn. The map we played on was the interior of a casino, and to complete the first stage, we had to find four keys and bring them back to a specific point, opening a door so we could move onto the next area.

In that area, the keys required to move on were embedded in pillars that had to be destroyed by shooting and melee attacks. Each survivor has two skills, called personal and fever skills – the latter taking longer to generate and cool down. They range from super-melees (a couple of the survivors were melee specialists) to EMPs for the hacker, effectively rendering the mastermind blind. At the beginning of each stage, a vending machine lets you resupply objects like ammo and even buy a machinegun; Resistance has its own currency, and there are plenty of objects scattered around each level to collect and use.

Resistance impressions

Considering that Resident Evil has hitherto been a strikingly single-player-centric franchise, Resistance shows great promise. Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil 5 offered tolerable co-operative experiences within the Resident Evil universe, but Capcom’s other attempts to add multiplayer elements to the franchise have always fallen horribly flat.

Our hands-on with Resistance, however, proved very enjoyable: it didn’t take long to start getting the hang of what was required when playing as both a survivor and a mastermind, although it will take a while to discover all the game’s nuances and potential tactics.

But from the off, it proved thoroughly enjoyable to play, which bodes well. Resistance felt nicely pitched: it manages to avoid overcomplication yet offers a gameplay experience which Resident Evil fans should find refreshingly original. We’ll know whether Capcom has finally managed to crack Resident Evil’s multiplayer conundrum when we get the chance to play it more extensively but at the moment Resident Evil 3 seems to be another dream come true for Resi and horror fans everywhere.

Daniel Radcliffe’s upcoming movie Guns Akimbo is going ahead with its release despite the director Jason Lei Howden’s recent ‘disturbing’ tweets.

The director has been accused of targeting women of colour in now-deleted tweets, leading to uncertainty surrounding the release of the film.

Earlier this month, a screenshot of direct messages with film critic Dilara Elbir was shared, where she appeared to use the N-word. Elbir went on to post an apology video, in which she implied she had attempted suicide.

Following her video, Howden accused specific writers, including two women of colour, of ‘bullying’ Elbir until she attempted suicide.

‘You bullied a woman until she tried to commit suicide, I hope no film site ever works with you again,’ he said in one tweet, while another read: ‘You are a bully and a troll, and you need to be reported for attempted murder.’

A Saban Films representative told IndieWire: ‘We are releasing Guns Akimbo this Friday, February 28.

‘While we do not condone, agree or share Mr. Howden’s online behavior, which is upsetting and disturbing, we are supportive of the film and all the hard work and dedication that has gone into making Guns Akimbo.’

Howden’s Twitter account is no longer available.

Harry Potter actor Daniel is set to star in the new movie – although it couldn’t be much further from the wizarding world.

It sees video game developer Miles (Radcliffe) come up against Nix (Ready Or Not’s Samara Weaving) in a race against time and death – with the main man donning monster slippers as he races through a city.

The flick is described as an ‘action comedy’ with Miles being a regular guy who gets caught up in a forced fight, gladiator-style, for a dark website, Skizm, that streams violence for viewers.

Speaking of the release, Daniel told Variety: ‘I feel like it was such a fun and exciting script, it had this insane idea in the middle of it that was really fully explored.

‘It’s not just a device for crazy fight scenes, having guns for hands. It’s also a device for a lot of physical comedy that I really enjoyed. “How do you dress yourself, how do you pick up your phone, how do you go through life,” which [Jason] practiced very early on.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Daniel, and Saban Films for comment.

Guns Akimbo is in UK cinemas soon.

Stranger Things: What was Hopper looking at in the season 4 trailer?

Stranger Things 4 trailer confirms Hopper is alive (Picture: Netflix)
Hopper’s surprise comeback left us delighted – and asking a lot of questions (Picture: Netflix)

Stranger Things gave us the only Valentines gift we actually wanted this year with a surprise teaser trailer for season 4… which just so happened to confirm that Jim Hopper (David Harbour) is actually alive.

But with that one question answered, the team opened the floodgates to a whole load more in what we can expect to the show when the series finally lands.

Likely having to wait until roughly 2021 in order to do this, we’re going to have a field day coming up with our own theories while we wait.

First up: what is he exactly looking at when we see him in the trailer?

Disappearing into a vortex at the end of season three with a tearful goodbye to Joyce (Winona Ryder), the residents of Hawkins, Indiana for sure thing he’s a goner.

But as we know by now, the brooding and fearful stare he gave us in the minute-long teaser as he’s put to work in the USSR means that not only is he alive – he’s scared of something.

Has he recognised the wail of the Demogorgon that we know the Russians have locked up too?

That screech we heard before the teaser went to back.

‘My theory is that the Demogorgon will escape the prison and start attacking the russians. Hopper will see this which will explain the fear in his face and then him escaping because of the guards focusing on the Demogorgon,’ says one Reddit user, who also thought of this theory.

They then added that it could set up the rest of the season and suggested: ‘From there the season would kick off with Hopper managing to find Eleven and the others and tell them that the Demogorgon is alive and that it is COMING.’

It certainly makes sense, considering as he wiped his brow he looked panicked very quickly – but how can he get from Russia, escape the guards and find his way back to the rural US? There’s definitely some steps missing – but it looks promising.

Then again, it could’ve just been a cheeky present for us all, just to let us know our fave cranky cop is alive and well (well… alive at least.)

Stranger Things is available now on Netflix.

Disgraced actor Bill Cosby has shown support for Harvey Weinstein after he was convicted on two counts of rape and sexual assault.

The 67-year-old went on trial in early January facing five charges of rape and sexual assault, all of which he pleaded not guilty to.

A jury of seven men and five women found the former film producer guilty on the fifth day of deliberations.

Cosby’s spokesman Andrew Wyatt released a statement on his Instagram account, which questioned ‘where wealthy and famous men go to find fairness’.

It read: ‘This is not shocking because these jurors were not sequestered, which game them access to media coverage and the sentiments of public opinion. There’s no way you would have anyone believe that Mr Weinstein was going to receive a fair and impartial trial.

‘Also, this judge showed that he wanted a conviction by sending the jurors back to deliberate, after they were hung on many of the counts.

‘Here’s the question that should haunt all Americans, especially wealthy and famous men…Where do we go in this country to find fairness and impartiality in the judicial system; and where do we go in this country to find Due Process?

‘Lastly, if the #metoo movement isn’t just about Becky [White women], I would challenge #metoo and ask them to go back 400+ years and tarnish the names of those oppressors that raped slaves.

‘This is a very sad day in the American Justice System.’

Cosby, 82, is currently serving a prison sentence for sexual assault.

Following his conviction, Weinstein avoided immediate jail time after being rushed to the hospital.

After leaving the Criminal Courts Building in handcuffs, Weinstein complained of pains while sitting in the ambulance on the way to Rikers Island.

According to Deadline, the medic decided that the convicted sexual predator needed greater professional treatment at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

He apparently had been suffering heart palpitations and high blood pressure, a source told the publication.

Celebs Go Dating is finally back on our screens and it wasn’t long before viewers were talking about Malique Thompson-Dwyer’s sexual fetish.

Doing what they do best, dating experts, Paul Carrick Brunson and Anna Williamson did some digging to try and find out what kind of lady the former soap star was looking for when he confessed he had a foot fetish.

‘I love a girl with nice feet,’ he explained.

Paul went on to question the fetish a bit further as he asked: ‘Would you help her make her shoes off?’

The 22-year-old replied: ‘Probably…’

Viewers quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the former Hollyoaks star’s confession.

Another commented: ‘Ladies watch out Malique, he has a foot fetish…’

A third added: ‘Foot fetish, oh god.’

Later, at their first dating mixer, Malique spotted some feet he liked from across the room and complimented the girl on her well-kept toes.

During the mixers event, it seemed like Malique had no problem with the ladies as two singletons agreed to go on a date with him.

They must have really nice feet eh Malique?

Although other celeb contestants weren’t as lucky on the dating front.

Former EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney got the brush off when he asked one lady to meet up for a drink.

Made in Chelsea’s Olivia Bentley also had a disagreement with former Towie star Amy Childs after they both set their sights on the same man…

Who knew sculpting Spider-Man’s nipples into a game was such a massive undertaking?

Spider-Man's nipples in a game
Have you ever thought about Spider-Man’s nipples before? (Picture Marvel/Insomniac Games)

It’s something you’ve probably never really thought about, the nipples of characters in video games, but please know that behind the scenes the utmost of attention and thought goes into those little skin discs.

Like, why does Spider-Man need nipples? Great question. Why does Spider-Man not need nipples, should be the question.

The man who, in his words, ‘sculpted’ the nips of Spider-Man in 2018’s PS4 titular game during his tenure at Insomniac, has described the work, tireless and expensive, may we add, that went into getting those little details just perfect.

This conversation all started when one artist brought our attention to the fact not every gaming character has nipples, despite their seemingly human elements.

They’ve always got a rippling torso. Nipples? Not a given.

‘Video games are great because somewhere right now there are artists in a meeting room debating whether to have a character with nipples, what possible options to explore varying nipple looks, and how out of scope/tone are nipples,’ Ryan Benno wrote on Twitter last week.

To which he who provided the nipples, Xavier Coelho-Kostolny,  jumped in the conversation and quote-tweeted his reply which revealed himself as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man nipple sculptor.

Spider-Man's nipples in a game
A lot of effort went into these (Picture: Marvel/Insomniac Games)

Xavier replied: ‘As the man who sculpted Spider-Man’s nipples, I have nothing to finish this sentence and just wanted to start a tweet with “As the man who sculpted Spider-Man’s nipples.”’

He also added that he believed he was the only person, ever, to add nips to Spidey.

Quite the plaudit, really.

If you needed a little context (who doesn’t) what is dubbed ‘Undies Spider-Man’ came about as a bonus costume for 2018’s PS4 Spider-Man which shows him, ever so briefly, in the buff save for his trusty mask and a pair of pants.

Spider-Man's nipples in a game
Now all you’re thinking about is Spidey’s nipples, yes? (Picture: Marvel/Insomniac Games)

Seeing as games are so lifelike these days – like, would you get a load of that muscle definition – the attention given to his nips was paramount.

Describing nipples as potentially being ‘horribly detrimental to the production process’ Coelho-Kostolny said our mate Undies Spider-Man called for, nay deserved, the body part.

‘The most important thing is making sure his nipples weren’t distracting,’ the artist told Kotaku. ‘As a character artist, I have to consider how certain details will read when you finally see them in the game, so having unusually dark nipples, for example, would make people focus on them instead of the overall effect of Spidey being mostly naked.’

We never thought about that.

When it came to the beloved comic character, who’s been around for generations, the level of study that went into finding the right nips to represent Spidey was all-consuming.

In the end, it took a couple of days to settle on ‘an appropriate size, placement, and colour for the nipples themselves.’ And if you were wondering, apparently he ‘used a lot of underwear models as reference’.

Erring on the side of ‘making him hot’ rather than some roided-up ‘monster’, Coelho-Kostolny said he’s happy he was able to flip the script on an industry that has often been accused of objectifying female video game characters.

He said: ‘As someone who’s worked on some unbelievably sexist female characters for my job, it felt great to work on a male character who I had more or less free rein to make hot and subvert some of the rampant sexism biased against women in the game industry.

‘Knowing I was going to make something that potentially millions of people would see, I wanted to make something that celebrated how a male figure can be sexy, appealing, and not an overtly exploitative or a weird power fantasy.’

So, ah, you thinking about Spider-Man’s nipples now, or what?

The Umbrella Academy’s Robert Sheehan has teased Gerard Way’s brand new comic book prequel, which will focus around the character Klaus.

And despite the Netflix adaptation getting a second series, it seems fans are demanding the new graphic novel will also get its very own spin-off show.

Taking to Instagram, the Misfits actor posted a picture of the cover, revealing the title, You Look Like Death.

He wrote in the caption: ‘What’s this? The Sordid Lude-Fuelled Misadventures of Klaus?! Mucky.’

The new series will be released through Dark Horse Comics, who also took to social media to make the exciting announcement.

They told their 225,000 followers: ‘Umbrella Academy news: This June, the comic book series about misfit heroes is getting a spinoff: You Look Like Death.‬

A post shared by Robert Sheehan (@rozzymikes) on

‘‪Featuring the one and only Klaus, aka The Seance! The 6-issue story is written by Gerard Way and Shaun Simon, art by INJ Culbard, letters by Nate Piekos, cover Gabriel Bá.’

Fans were quick to comment and begged the streaming site to take on the new story-line.

‘If we don’t get a spin-off I swear to god,’ one wrote while another added: ‘PLEASE let Netflix do a spin-off of you as Klaus in this series! I will PAY all of my money. I beg of you.’

Someone else said: ‘First Klaus-centric comic, next Klaus-centric show,’ and we sure hope they’re right!

This isn’t the first time the My Chemical Romance singer has teamed up with Shaun Simon as the duo worked together back in 2013 on The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Where and when have the gang landed? (Picture: Netflix)

Talking about the new project, Gerard said in a statement (via The New York Times): ‘I imagined a pretty wild decade for Klaus — full of ups and downs, seedy places, supernatural excursions and internal battles.’

The news comes shortly after the streaming giant dropped a whole load of posters teasing the upcoming second season.

Last time we saw the ragtag family of the Hargreeves, the team were in serious trouble as Number Five stopped his sister Seven causing the apocalypse, and zipped his five alive (and one dead) sibling off to a mystery location.

Now, the teaser poster set shared by Netflix appears to confirm that all seven members of the family have survived – with each of their eyes staring at us in the collection.

The eighth and final poster poses a simple question, as a number two with an umbrella sat on its arch stands next to: ‘When are they?’

The Umbrella Academy season one is available to watch now on Netflix.

Love Is Blind: Who will take plunge for romance and win Netflix’s dating show in dramatic finale?

Love Is Blind Giannina
Netflix’s Love Is Blind has become our new dating show obsession (Picture: Netflix)

*WARNING: This piece contains spoilers for Love Is Blind*

Love Is Blind is the new dating show that no one can stop talking about, with Netflix drip-feeding us the episodes in wholesome chunks every Thursday.

If you’ve been on another planet for the last three weeks, the 10-part show follows singletons who speak to a string of anonymous love matches in a pod, before falling madly in love and proposing – without seeing the person they are getting down on one knee for, or agreeing to marry.

Imagine Love Island meets The Circle, with a little bit of Married At First Sight sprinkled in for added measure.

Basically, it is our new obsession.

Ahead of the eagerly-anticipated finale on Thursday, in which we finally find out exactly who runs away from their big day and head-first into a bush (looking at you, Gigi) – who do you think will end up saying their ‘I dos’?

In the run-up to their big day, things were looking rosy for Kelly and Kenny, but cracks started to appear when they were on different pages regarding their sex life – and only deepened when Kelly explained she saw her potential future husband ‘like a best friend / brother’.

While Matt Barnett and Amber Pike have had a rollercoaster relationship since day one, thanks to his major flirting with LC and Jessica Batten, the latter who has never quite got over the fact he rejected her. Can they push said rollercoaster through one last loop to wedded bliss?

Jessica hasn’t had the easiest ride leaving the pod for reality, with her romance with Mark Cuevas not panning out quite as she expected, thanks to the aforementioned Barnett drama. But will they manage to shove all that to one side and spend the rest of their lives together?

LOVE IS BLIND

Matt Barnett Love Is Blind

Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton were the first couple to get engaged, and dropped the L-Bomb just hours into their conversation. However, the couple have already come up against their fair share of issues in the days they’ve been on the outside world. Are their differences too much to handle?

Giannina Gibelli and Damian Powers are definitely the most dramatic pairing, and have done nothing by halves, arguing nearly every single chance they get. But are their steamy make-up sessions enough to make it official?

Through some social media digging, we’ve come to the conclusion that two couples are no longer following one another on social media – which could answer a lot of these questions…

But no one has confirmed or denied their relationship statuses publicly, meaning there is definitely still hope…

And maybe even a dash of love in the air.

Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix now.

This Morning thrown into chaos after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield try to break pancake flipping record

This Morning was thrown into chaos on Tuesday after celebrity chef Ainsley Harriet tried to break a World Record for the highest pancake toss.

And as you can imagine when Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield got involved, things didn’t quite go as planned.

To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, Ainsley started by showing Holly and Phillip how to make the perfect pancake and as the duo explained to viewers at home, it wasn’t an official Guinness World Record.

Phillip began: ‘In just a moment Ainsley Harriet will be attempting to toss a pancake over 31 feet in the air, 31 feet and two inches. He’s going to try and break the World Record for the highest pancake flip.

‘We asked Guinness if they wanted to come down from the World Record’s book but they couldn’t be bothered because they said it was too hard that they wouldn’t even bother to send someone down.’

Ainsley needed to flip the pancake 31 feet and two inches high and then be able to catch it again although it was so windy, Phillip added: ‘You have got no chance here.’

The challenge also needed an adjudicator and what better person for the job other than Alison Hammond?

The presenter, who is currently also among the Celebs Go Dating line-up stook at the top of the tower with her megaphone.

And after numerous attempts, poor Ainsley failed and kept flipping the pancake behind him instead of up…

‘Why does it go behind you?’ Holly asked as she and Phillip tried to flip a pancake.

The segment left viewers in stitches as many took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One tweeted: ‘@AinsleyFoods tossing them pancakes has actually made my day.’

Another commented: ‘I was laughing so hard at @Schofe @AinsleyFoods and @hollywills flipping pancakes outside #thismorning. It was so funny even my mum laughed.’

A third added: ‘#thismorning has got me in stitches with their pancake tossing Rolling on the floor laughingFace with tears of joy so funny #PancakeDay.’

One said: ‘Watching Ainsley Harriott tossing a pancake on #ThisMorning high into the air. Hilarious!’

This Morning airs daily at 10pm on ITV.

The Master answered our questions (Picture: BBC)

Sacha Dhawan shocked every Whovian out there when he was revealed to be the next incarnation of The Master in Doctor Who series 12.

The 35-year-old’s elusive character returned to the BBC sci-fi epic a new person, and came with a stern warning for Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor, as well as one of this season’s most enduring questions: just what is the Timeless Child and why did it make the Master basically commit genocide, destroying the Time Lords and their home planet of Gallifrey?

Hopefully, we’ll be getting some answers soon as the finale for series 12 airs this weekend, ominously titled The Timeless Children.

But speaking to Metro.co.uk ahead of Sunday’s episode and after his shocking return last week, Sacha teased that he was actually in the know all along.

‘Yes, I did [know],’ the actor revealed. ‘I found out a couple of months after filming the first two episodes. I knew that I was coming back but not to what extent.

‘When I spoke to Chris we had a chat about it, the script was being evolved. Chris [Chibnall, showrunner] was gathering ideas that felt very collaborative as well. And it put some of my thoughts into it.’

Despite our best efforts (sorry, we tried!) Sacha wasn’t budging on what specific influence he had over the finale script.

‘I can’t tell you,’ he teased. ‘It would reveal too much…’

The Sherlock star, however, assures us that fans will enjoy the finale not just because it will (hopefully) bridge all the plot strands from this series together, but it speaks to our society in the present too.

You know what I really like about Doctor Who?’ Sacha asks. ‘Yes, it’s set in different universes, it also relates to what’s going on right now in real life and that’s what I love about it.

‘As wild and crazy as the Master is, there’s something very human and emotional about the character as well, particularly for this season.’

Will the Master help or hinder the Doctor’s battle against the Cybermen this weekend? (Picture: BBC)

As for what viewers can expect from the Timeless Children? Well, given that it’s been hinted that the origin of the Time Lords, and thus the Doctor herself, has been a lie…we can most certainly look forward to the biggest re-writing of the show’s mythos in nearly 60 years.

‘In that plane scene I said to Jodie everything that you think you know is a lie,’ Sacha explained, pointing a huge clue going into Sunday. ‘That is going to be…that question is going to be uncovered.

‘As with Doctor Who, more answers lead to more questions.’

He continued: ‘It is going to be a game-changer. It’s going to be something people haven’t seen before.’

Roll on Sunday…

Doctor Who concludes this Sunday at 7.10pm on BBC One.

Kendall Jenner spends day cuddling the cutest puppy while taking a break from Fashion Week and our hearts can’t handle it

Kendall Jenner has been busy storming the runway for fashion week all over the world, but she’s always got time to get her puppy fix.

The model, 24, is currently back in the US after flying in from Milan, where she was spotted rubbing shoulders with the likes of Gigi Hadid and walking in the Versace runway show.

Her visit is only brief, though, as she’s due to head to Paris as fashion week hits the French capital as of next week and Kendall made sure to spend her time back in the States wisely, catching up with friends and visiting a hair salon.

Kendall was seen grabbing a coffee with friends before their group salon visit, but the real MVP here is the little puppy that tagged along with them.

Our hearts. We want one.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kendall was clearly smitten with her new furry pal and grabbed all the puppy cuddles she could get.

Kendall’s appearance in New York comes after she was seen hanging out with ex-boyfriend Harry Styles at the Brits, earlier this month.

They dated on and off back in the day and were seen reuniting at an after-party held in London after the big music awards.

Caitlyn Jenner has said she’d love to see Kendall and Harry get back together, dubbing the One Direction star a real ‘gentleman’ during an interview on Capital FM.

Caitlyn said: ‘I only met him one time at an event with Kendall and he seemed like a gentleman. I hear he plays golf, that’s good.

‘She always speaks very highly of him, and, yeah, I think they did [have a good connection].’

Although, it sounds like Kendall only has eyes for her ex Ben Simmons, as the pair have sparked rumours they’re dating again.

Kendall and the basketball star began dating in 2018, but called it quits later that same year.

They’ve been hanging out together recently and were spotted chilling by a pool in Miami at the beginning of February, just a month after celebrating on New Year’s Eve together.

What do we reckon, coincidence? Yeah, probably not.

Former Eurovision UK entry Andy Abraham feels it doesn’t matter whether the British public pick the entry for this year’s contest.

After Michael Rice finished in last place in 2019, the decision has been taken out of our hands.

The UK Eurovision 2020 entry is being unveiled on 27 February (this Thursday) on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2. The Beeb has decided to internally select a song this time round instead of putting it to a vote in the national final Eurovision: You Decide.

While some British fans might feel cheated, X Factor runner up Andy, who flew the flag for the UK at Eurovision in 2008, reckons it won’t make a difference who chooses as Britain ‘has no chance of victory’.

He said: ‘If I’m honest, I look at Eurovision like I look at the Olympics these days. It’s not the winning that counts, it’s the taking part, you know.

‘We all know Britain has no chance of victory, that much is clear. It’s all about politics usually anyway, with everyone voting for their neighbours and historic allies or whatever. Most of the voting you can guess.

‘Things haven’t gone very well for us in years and I don’t believe that’s changing anytime soon. It’s not like we had too many Eurovision friends before and, with Brexit, I can’t see our chances improving in 2020.

‘You could put Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and Elton John up there together and we’d still get more than our share of “nul points”.’

Having said all that, Andy, who finished second on The X Factor in 2005, is going to be watching the action unfold from Rotterdam later this year like every other Eurovision fan.

‘Whatever you think of the politics or even the music, it’s a rich bit of European culture and something we all have fond memories of from childhood. It’s glam and camp but most of all its spectacular,’ Andy said.

‘The special effects just get more impressive each year and there’s always a surprise package and a couple of real characters to make it interesting.

‘I think the important thing for me is not to take it too seriously. It’s good family fun, with a variety of acts, a bit like Top of the Pops back in the day, and it makes a great night in in front of the telly.’

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest grand final will take place at the Ahoy Rotterdam Arena on Saturday 16 May, and will be broadcast live on BBC One.

The semi-finals will take place on Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 May, with 10 countries from each qualifying to Saturday’s grand final – and both will be aired on BBC Four.

Justin Bieber may have just beaten Elvis Presley’s chart record, but it seems his wife Hailey Baldwin is taking getting fashion inspo from him.

Icons left, right and centre.

The star, who tied the knot with her husband Justin back in 2018, was spotted stepping out in the French capital looking as cool as ever.

Donning co-ordinating black leather trousers, top and jacket, and rocking shades, Hailey looked absolutely stunning.

The 23-year-old paired the outfit with some bright pink heels, well and truly slaying the look – although we can’t imagine it’s massively comfortable.

Someone get that girl some cosy clothes to slip on pronto.

It’s been an amazing week for the couple, after it was revealed that Justin has beaten Elvis’ US chart record with his new album Changes.

At just 25 years old, Biebs has now achieved seven number one albums with the recent release of his album Changes. He’s the youngest solo artist to ever to achieve the record, beating Elvis after 59 years.

Elvis was a year older, at 26, when he celebrated his seventh number one album with Blue Hawaii in 1961.

Safe to say, he’s secured his spot in music history.

And it seems the album is a bit of a love letter to Hailey, with Justin recently raving about his wife at the Changes album playback in London.

‘The thought of being without my wife gives me chills. We talked this morning, she’s in LA. This album is my love towards her and hopefully it translates,’ he explained.

He went on to say: ‘My life has taken so many changes all the time.

‘There were times in the past when I would blame God, that’s what helped me keep pushing and not step out on faith.

‘Tomorrow’s not promised and so fragile and short, what happened to Kobe Bryant was so tragic and just reminds us that life is so tragic and short.’

Brooklyn Beckham and his girlfriend, Nicola Peltz, have been spotted walking hand in hand in Paris, after rumours surfaced of a possible future wedding.

The couple were seen leaving their hotel during Paris Fashion week, and they held hands as they made their way through the photographers.

Chivalrous Brooklyn, 20, even carried 24-year-old Nicola’s beige snakeprint bag as the pair headed out in the French capital.

It comes after Heat magazine claimed Victoria Beckham has been planning for a wedding between the pair, who have been dating for around five months.

A source told the magazine: ‘After his last relationship [with model Hana Cross], Victoria is just so happy that Brooklyn is with someone who she considers the perfect match for him.’

The source says VB thinks Nicola is ‘beautiful, rich, well brought up, ambitious, hardworking and so respectful’, and that Brooklyn’s girlfriend gets on great with his mum.

They added: ‘It’s the first girl that Brooklyn has been with that Victoria is thinking “nail that down”, she just doesn’t think he could find anyone more perfect.’

The insider also says that Nicola’s ‘seriously wealthy’ family has a lot of connections in New York and she is ‘exactly the type of girl Vic imagined her beloved son marrying’.

‘She also knows it would be the wedding of the year and she has so many ideas already,’ they added.

Brooklyn is reportedly keen to follow in his mum and dad’s footsteps and marry young, after Victoria and David Beckham got engaged after six months at the age of 23 and 22 respectively.

David is reportedly less keen on the idea of Brooklyn settling down early, and wants him to be more established in his career first.

While David thinks Nicola is ‘absolutely great’ he would prefer the couple to be together for a few years before thinking of settling down.

The source added that Victoria is already thinking about wedding plans – and dresses – explaining, ‘Vic knows that as Mother of the Groom she doesn’t have as big a role as the Mother of the Bride but that doesn’t mean she’s going to sit in the background.

‘She wants her son to have the best of everything and wants it to be a wedding everyone talks about. She knows Nicola respects her as fashion designer so she can give her lots of tips and advice with her dress.

‘And of course, she’ll make sure she’s the most glamorous guest there. She also wants an A-list guest list and hopes Brooklyn and Nicola will involve her in every step of the way.’

Mark Wright gives Towie bosses ‘ultimatum’ over Lauren Goodger

Mark Wright has reportedly given Towie bosses an ‘ultimatum’ over his return to the reality show as he refuses to work alongside his ex Lauren Goodger.

The 33-year-old television personality was one of the original cast members on the reality show when it first debuted all the way back in 2010, and it turns out he has told producers that it’s ‘him or her’.

Although despite the fact that fans are desperate to see Mark and Lauren on screen together again, Mark has basically told producers it won’t happen unless they pick between having him on the show or her.

Mark, who is now married to Michelle Keegan, dated Lauren for 12 years. The pair were even engaged for five months before finally calling it quits for good in 2011.

A source explained: ‘They are struggling at the moment though as Mark basically told bosses they have to choose between having him on the show, or her.

‘He’s moved on and doesn’t want to rehash old arguments, and anyway, he’s happily married now and it wouldn’t be respectful to Michelle to appear on a TV show with Lauren.’

‘Producers are in talks now and trying to come up with ways they can get them both on-screen as they’re show legends. The last thing they want to do is upset Mark but at the same time they are really keen to see him with Lauren again,’ they continued to The Sun.

Since first appearing on Towie, Mark’s glistening career in the spotlight has gone from strength to strength.

He came runner-up in the 11th series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, losing out to McFly’s Dougie Poynter back in 2011, and in 2014 he came fourth place on Strictly Come Dancing.

Last year, Mark dismissed rumours that he’d return to Towie for a reunion special.

At the time, he said he’d hadn’t heard from producers about filming the episodes, adding to OK! Online: ‘The 10 year special wouldn’t be until October 2020 so it’s so far away,

‘I don’t think they’re planning that far ahead.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Mark’s reps for comment.
